Udayy's co-founder <keyword id="6553566" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="saumya-yadav" source="Orion">Saumya Yadav</keyword> said that the startup was witnessing the post-pandemic world for the first time as "as the kids went back to school, we faced roadblocks in growing the original model of online, live learning". "After a lot of deliberation, we decided that it's better to shut down the business than to spend more time and capital on it,a Yadav said. The development was first reported by startup news coverage portal Entrackr. The startup has paid employees severance packages and helped them find new jobs. "We are returning the remaining capital, around $8.5 million back to our investors," Yadav was quoted as saying in media reports. The live-learning platform catered to students from Grades 1 to 5. The platform raised $2.5 million in a seed funding round led by Alpha Wave Incubation (AWI), managed by <keyword id="4675626" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="falcon-edge-capital" source="Orion">Falcon Edge Capital</keyword> and <keyword id="12772224" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="infoedge-ventures" source="Orion">InfoEdge Ventures</keyword>. Udayy is the second edtech startup after Lido Learning to completely shut operations. Led by the edtech platforms, over 8,000 start-up employees have been recently hit by layoffs In India. This includes more than 1,000 employees at WhiteHat Jr, over 600 at Unacademy, over 424 at Vedantu and over 150 at Lido Learning. Another edtech firm FrontRow laid off nearly 150 full-time and contractual employees earlier this week. The Bengaluru-based non-academic upskilling startup fired almost 30 per cent of its workforce, owing to fund crunch and the market downturn. Apart from edtech firms, startups that have laid off employees in the past few months include social commerce platforms Trell (more than 300) and Meesho (150), used cars platform Cars24 (More than 600) and digital health platform Mfine (more than 500), among others.

Edtech startup 'Udayy' lays off all 100 employees as schools, and colleges physically reopen

The much anticipated initial public offering (IPO) of online food delivery company <keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword> opened on Wednesday at Rs 72-76 per share offer and was fully received by the retail investors. The retail segment of the offering has been fully subscribed in just over an hour. So far, the IPO has been subscribed around 20 percent on the first day of bidding. On Tuesday, the company said that it has raised Rs 4,196 crore from several prominent institutional investors as part of an anchor book allocation. It has allocated 55.2 crore equity shares, to anchor investors, at a price of Rs 76 per share. Zomato IPO gets subscribed 20% on first day of bidding

The New Delhi-based company said that it aims to leverage these funds to fuel product development for both existing and new products, to invest in research and development, continue <keyword id="29547" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Market">market</keyword> expansion and accelerate overall growth. PayPal pumps in ₹305 crore in Indian logistics platform Shiprocket

Here’s why Info Edge stocks rallied over 5% despite 60% fall in quarterly profit

The round was led by its early investor, PayU, the payments and <keyword id="2461546" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="FinTech">fintech</keyword> business of Prosus, resulting in an increase in the existing stake in the company. Info Edge Ventures has doubled down on its seed investment in the company made last year and more than doubled its shareholding, while Google joined as a new investor. The fresh funding brings DotPe's total funding to $35.5 million. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 1.45% lower. While the S&amp;P 500 lost 1.76% towards the end of trading. Here’s a list of stocks to watch for in trade on September 11: Reliance Industries and Future Retail Mukesh Ambani led RIL has clarified on the circulating news report about the company selling Amazon $20 billion stakes in its retail arm. RIL said, “we do not comment on media speculation and rumours, and we cannot confirm or deny any transaction which may or may not be in the works.” This may also move the shares of Mukesh Ambani’s recently acquired Future Retail. The shares of RIL closed 7.29% higher yesterday, whereas Future Retail was locked in a 5% upper circuit. Bank of Baroda and Union Bank The Bank of Baroda reduced Marginal cost of funds-based lending rate (MCLR) between 5-30 basis points across various tenors with effect from September 12. The Union Bank of India also decided to reduce the MCLR by up to 5 basis points across tenors. One hundred basis points make 1%. The shares of Bank of Baroda closed 3% higher yesterday, whereas Union Bank gained 2%. Info Edge Info Edge said its investee company Zomato had raised $160 million (₹1,173 crore) in funding from Tiger Global and Temasek Holdings subsidiary MacRitchie Investments, valuing the online food ordering platform at $3.3 billion. The shares of Info Edge closed 3.30% higher on September 10. HAL The state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) reported a 74% drop in its net profit to ₹148.7 for the first quarter ended June 30. The company’s overall revenue was down 47% compared to the same period last year. The shares of HAL closed 3.24% higher on Thursday. Maruti Suzuki The promoter of India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki— Suzuki Motor Corporation acquired 2.84 lakh shares from September 8-9. The shares of Maruti Suzuki closed almost flat on Thursday. Hindustan Copper Hindustan Copper reported a 40% jump in its consolidated net profit to ₹29.8 crore for the first quarter ended June 30. The company’s revenue increased 41.9% to ₹431.4 crore. The shares of Hindustan Copper closed 3% higher on September 10. Yes Bank Yes Bank said it has fully repaid the ₹50,000 crore provided by RBI as a special liquidity facility (SLF) amid the crisis faced by the lender earlier this year. It has outlined parameters for 26 sectors. Future Consumer Kishore Biyani led Future Group firm Future Consumer said it has defaulted on payment of principal redemption and interest on non-convertible debentures. The current default amount includes principal of ₹20 crore and interest of ₹2.03 crore, payable annually. The shares of Future Consumer ended 5% lower yesterday. Future Enterprises Kishore Biyani led Future Enterprises reported a consolidated net loss of ₹394.77 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31. The company’s revenue from operations was down 50.01% to ₹783.28 crore during the quarter under review. This may also move other Future Group subsidiaries such as Future Retail, Future Lifestyle Fashions, Future Consumer, among others. The shares of Future Enterprises ended 5% lower yesterday. Indian Overseas Bank Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has cut its marginal cost of funds based lending rate (MCLR) by 10 basis points (bps) across all tenors effective September 10. MCLR is actually the minimum interest rate below which financial institutions can’t lend. The shares of IOB ended 2% lower on September 7. Bharat Dynamics The central government is looking to sell 15% of its stake in Bharat Dynamics. The government currently owns 87.75% of the company’s stake, and it is looking to offload 2.71 crore shares at a floor price of ₹384.50. The shares of Bharat Dynamics ended 2% lower on September 7. Info Edge Info Edge reported a 24.7% jump in its India standalone net profit to ₹83.2 crore for the first quarter ended June 30. Although the company’s revenue fell 10.5% to ₹280.1 crore in the period under review. The shares of Info Edge ended 2% lower on September 7. Parag Milk and Foods Parag Milk reported a steep fall in its net profit for the first quarter ended June 30. The company’s revenue declined to ₹435.6 crore from ₹629.74 crore in the same quarter last year. The board also approved raising ₹ 230 crore via sale of non-convertible debentures. Non-convertible debentures can’t be converted into shares or equities. The shares of Parag Milk and Foods ended 2% higher yesterday.
