Liz Cheney said.</p><p>Testimony will show that Trump followed Giuliani's recommendation "to just claim he won and insist that the vote counting stop, to falsely claim everything was fraudulent," Cheney said on Monday, during the second hearing by the House select committee investigating the January 6 attacks on the US Capitol.</p><p>The committee aims to present a seven-part plan by Trump to overturn the 2020 election. Monday's hearing is focused on Trump's efforts to convince Americans that the election was stolen by overwhelming voter fraud, despite evidence to the contrary.</p><p>"He falsely told the American people that the election was not legitimate," Cheney said. "In his words, quote, 'A major fraud.' Millions of Americans believed him."</p><p>Giuliani is among members of Trumpworld who met virtually with committee officials, according to exhibits during Monday's hearing. </p><p>Much has been written about Giuliani drinking allegations, which <a href="https://www.politico.com/story/2018/05/08/giuliani-trump-lawyer-insulting-576749">Giuliani told POLITICO in 2018</a> is "extremely insulting." He acknowledged being a social drinker but said he doesn't have alcohol early in the day.</p><p>"I'm not drinking for lunch," he told POLITICO then. "I may have a drink for dinner. I like to drink with cigars."</p><p>Trump's advisors, however, believed he was usually drunk and near senile, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-aides-believed-giuliani-drunk-borderline-senile-book-2021-7">according to to "Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency" by Michael Wolff.</a></p><p>"Giuliani was, many around Trump believed, always buzzed if not, in the phrase Steve Bannon made famous in the Trump White House, hopelessly 'in the mumble tank,'" Wolff wrote in his book. "Many believed he had the beginnings of senility: focus issues, memory problems, simple logic failures. Ecologists are starting to turn this idea on its head, revealing that boozy snacks are far more common in the wild than previously thought.<br /><h2>How animals stumble upon alcohol</h2>When fruits are left to ripen a little too long, especially when drenched in warm sunlight, they naturally ferment into a natural brew. Stories of “drunk” animals like elephants, monkeys, and birds toppling around after munching on <keyword id="23742494" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="fermented-fruits" source="keywords">fermented fruits</keyword> have been around for ages, but scientists used to think these incidents were rare flukes. But now, they’re rethinking it.<br /><br />"We’re moving away from this anthropocentric view that ethanol is just something that humans use," says study author Kimberley Hockings. According to molecular ecologist Matthew Carrigan, animals prioritise the energy found in these boozy treats rather than the “fun” side effects. <br /><br />“From an ecological perspective, it is not advantageous to be inebriated as you're climbing around in the trees or surrounded by predators at night — that's a recipe for not having your genes passed on,” Carrigan points out. Unlike us humans, animals want the energy but prefer to skip the hangover.<br /><br />Interestingly, animals seem to be pretty well-equipped to handle alcohol. They’ve harboured genes that can degrade ethanol for millions of years, long before natural yeast even got into the game. Primates, birds, and tree shrews that enjoy fruit and nectar have evolved a strong tolerance for it, allowing them to take advantage of ethanol’s calories without too much of a head-spin.<br /><h2>Why do animals bother?</h2>It might seem counterintuitive, but ethanol could have a few perks for wild animals. It’s calorie-dense, helping to fuel their bodies when food is scarce, and some of the odorous byproducts of fermentation can act as a food signal. You can imagine animals bonding over a boozy snack – kind of how humans sharing a beer!<br /><br />There’s still a lot we don’t know about how alcohol impacts animals in the wild. Do certain species seek it out more than others? Does ethanol consumption affect their social lives, family dynamics, or evolutionary adaptations? <ul class="summary-list"><li>A new lawsuit alleges Sean "Diddy" Combs participated in the "gang rape" of a high school student.</li><li>He denies the allegations.</li></ul><p><a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/sean-combs-diddy-sexual-assault-lawsuit-joi-dickerson-neal-cassie-2023-11">Sean "Diddy" Combs</a> now faces his fourth sexual misconduct lawsuit in three weeks — this time from a woman who says she was raped as a teenager.</p><p>A woman alleges Combs, his longtime producing partner Harve Pierre, and an unnamed third man raped her in 2003 when she was a 17-year-old high school junior.</p><p>The lawsuit, filed Wednesday under a "Jane Doe" pseudonym, alleges the three "sex trafficked and gang raped" her after Pierre met her in Detroit, where she lived, and flew her to Combs's studio in New York City on a private jet.</p><p>"While at the studio, Mr. Combs and his associates, including Mr. Pierre, plied Ms. Doe with drugs and alcohol. As the night wore on, the 17-year-old Ms. Doe became more and more inebriated, eventually to the point that she could not possibly have consented to having sex with anyone, much less someone twice her age," the lawsuit says. "While at the studio, Ms. Doe was gang raped by Mr. Combs, the Third Assailant and Mr. Pierre, in that order."</p><p>Over the past month, Combs has been accused of sexual misconduct in three other lawsuits and is a co-defendant in another suit brought against Pierre.</p><p>The <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/sean-combs-diddy-sex-trafficking-rape-abuse-lawsuit-cassie-venutura-2023-11">first of those lawsuits</a> was brought by Casandra "Cassie" Ventura, an R&amp;B singer who alleged Combs sexually abused her during a years-long relationship. The two settled the lawsuit a day after it was filed.</p><p>Wednesday's lawsuit is brought by Wigdor LLP, the same law firm that represented Ventura in her case.</p><div type="image" title="jane doe diddy" height="337" width="449" msid="105792636" hostid="261"></div><p>Seeing those lawsuits gave the accuser to bring her own case againt Combs, the lawsuit says.</p><p>"Doe obviously understands that she too had been sex trafficked, and that Mr. Combs' behavior in forcing women into nonconsensual sex was not an isolated incident or unique only to Ms. Ventura," the suit says.</p><p>In a statement provided to media outlets, Combs denied the allegations against him, declaring, "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" and that he "will fight for my name, my family and for the truth."</p><p>"For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy," he said. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Air India CEO Campbell Wilson apologized for its handling of a mid-air urination incident. </li><li>A "heavily inebriated" man in business class had been accused of urinating on a woman in November.</li></ul><p>The CEO of Air India has issued an apology for the airline's handling of a mid-air urination incident and said it was reviewing its policy around serving alcohol on flights. </p><p>In a <a href="https://twitter.com/airindiain/status/1611632948998180864?s=20&amp;t=Z6CygrVqUgI0MgT_f29aoA" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement posted</a> on the airline's Twitter account, Campbell Wilson said: "Air India is deeply concerned about the in-flight instances where customers have suffered due to the condemnable acts of their co-passengers on our aircraft. We regret and are pained about these experiences."</p><p>He added: "Air India acknowledges that it could have handled these matters better, both in the air and on the ground and is committed to taking action."</p><p>Following the incident, four cabin crew and one pilot have been taken off the rota while investigations continued. </p><p><a href="https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/drunk-man-urinates-on-senior-citizen-woman-co-passenger-on-air-india-flight/article66336781.ece" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hindu reported</a> on Wednesday that a "heavily inebriated" man in business class had urinated on a woman on an Air India flight from New York to Delhi on November 26.</p><p>Indian media reported that the employee lived in Mumbai and was a vice president at Wells Fargo. The <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/wells-fargo-fired-employee-urinated-female-passenger-air-india-flight-2023-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">US bank said in a statement on Friday</a> that the employee had been fired, but did not comment on his identity.</p><p>Wilson said the airline was taking steps to prevent future such incidents, including a review of its policy on serving alcohol and a better internal communication system for crew to lodge reports before landing.</p><p>The CEO also said that the victim had been receiving "ongoing assistance" from the airline after it received the complaint on November 27. Her tickets were refunded on December 2, and he had met with her and her family on four occasions. </p><p>Following one of their meetings, the victim asked the airline to file a police report, which it did on December 28.</p><p>The man has been banned from flying on Air India for 30 days, according to Wilson's statement.</p><p>"Air India and its staff will continue to provide full cooperation to the affected passenger, and regulators and law enforcement authorities as they investigate these cases," he added.</p><p>Air India didn't immediately respond to a request for further comment from Insider.</p>

The man, later identified as a 46-year-old from Ohio, said he thought he was going to die.</p><p>But after two hours of searching by police, search and rescue, and the fire department, he was found — unharmed, inebriated, and just desperate to get out of the woods.</p><p>It all started on September 22, when dispatchers talked to a man who said he was injured and stranded in the woods, according to a criminal complaint filed in the Kanawha County Magistrate Court and obtained by Insider. The man was screaming "Please help me!" while on the phone with dispatchers, and said he was currently being attacked by a bear, according to the complaint.</p><p>The man, according to the complaint, told dispatchers he had been walking for days, that his phone was dying, and that <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/a-black-bear-hunted-killed-a-man-as-he-drank-coffee-at-arizona-cabin-2023-6">bears</a> were circling him and he was going to die.</p><p>Several deputy units as well as search and rescue, fire, and medical personnel were dispatched to try and locate the man. Deputies also tried to enlist West Virginia state police to send out a helicopter to search for the man during the alleged bear attack.</p><p>At various points while talking to dispatchers, the man was still screaming, said he had a head injury and was bleeding, and said that the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/what-to-do-if-you-see-a-bear-attack-2019-4">bears were stalking him</a>, according to the complaint. He also mentioned he had been drinking.</p><p>The units searching for the man used emergency lights and sirens in the hope they would scare off the bear and help the man find them.</p><p>After two hours of searching, from around 3 a.m. to 5 a.m., they found him.</p><h2>What police found</h2><p>The man proceeded to deny any medical treatment and said he "just wanted a ride out of the woods," the complaint said.</p><p>"The male was not bleeding and did not appear to have any injuries visible," the complaint said, adding the man said he was "extremely intoxicated" and "sorry" for wasting their time "but had to get out of the woods."</p><p>Christian R. Leonhardt of Brecksville, Ohio, was charged with one count of falsely reporting an emergency incident. Leonhardt did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.</p><p>Depending on the jurisdiction, there can be hefty fines or even jail time for making a false emergency report or calling in a rescue under false circumstances.</p><p>In <a target="_blank" href="http://www.wvlegislature.gov/wvcode/chapterentire.cfm?chap=61&amp;art=6&amp;section=20">West Virginia</a>, a person found guilty of falsely reporting an emergency incident can be fined up to $500 or confined in the county jail for up to six months.</p><p>In Alaska, in 2021 a man who attempted to climb <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/inside-a-fall-from-denali-north-americas-tallest-peak-2022-7?_gl=1*1eq8np3*_ga*MzYzNDc5ODk4LjE2NzU5NzM5ODE.*_ga_E21CV80ZCZ*MTY5NTk0OTIxOS4xMzMuMS4xNjk1OTUxMjA5LjYwLjAuMA..">Denali, North America's tallest peak</a>, was charged after officials said he falsely claimed his companions were experiencing hypothermia in order to get a helicopter rescue off the mountain. The false report charge was eventually dropped, but he pleaded guilty to violating a lawful order of a government employee and was fined $10,000.</p><p>More states and localities are also establishing fines for people who call in <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/coast-guard-does-not-charge-for-search-and-rescue-2023-6">search and rescue operations</a> while in the outdoors even if they do not lie, but it's determined they acted recklessly.</p>
