New Delhi, Apr 12 () A 56-year-old assistant-sub inspector of the Delhi Police has tested positive for coronavirus, police said on Sunday. The ASI is a resident of Shyam Nagar, Okhla Phase-1, they said. He is the third policeman in the national capital who has tested positive for COVID-19, police said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Devender Arya said, "The assistant sub-Inspector posted at the Safdarjung Enclave police station was tested for coronavirus after he showed symptoms. His reports arrived today wherein he was declared positive." The ASI attended the duty last on April 9 and was on leave since then as he was unwell, a police official said. All the police personnel who came in contact with the ASI have been advised for home quarantine and will be tested for COVID-19, he said. The policeman stays at a four-storey building in Okhla and all his family members and residents of the building will be screened for COVID-19 as a preventive measure, the official said. A letter has been written to hospital authorities for screening and medical examination of his family members as well as neighbours. All of them have been advised for home quarantine and movement of people in the residential area has also been restricted, he said. Earlier, two other Delhi police personnel had tested positive for coronavirus. A 44-year-old head constable, posted in the Foreign Regional Registration Office at the Indira Gandhi International Airport's Terminal 3, and a 49-year-old police official, posted in the traffic unit in Hauz Khas, had tested positive for COVID-19. New Delhi, Apr 13 () With the aim of scaling up coronavirus testing facilities, the Union Health ministry has designated 14 health establishments such as AIIMS, New Delhi, PGIMER in Chandigarh and JIPMER, Puducherry to review proposals for approving any new laboratory for COVID-19 testing in different states. Amid a spurt in cases of coronavirus infections in India, the ICMR has taken into account the need to expand COVID-19 testing facilities in all parts of the country and has initiated a proactive search of potential laboratories which could be enabled for COVID-19 testing, a senior official said. "These institutions are expected to serve as mentors and facilitate the establishment of COVID-19 testing facilities in respective states. "They will review the proposals from private and government medical colleges as well as other central government institutions belonging to Department of Biotechnology, Department of Science and Technology, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)and Defence Research and Development Organisation among others," a senior scientist at the ICMR said,According to the officials, the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Delhi will do a comprehensive review of requests for approving any new laboratory for COVID testing from Delhi and Bihar, while Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education &amp; Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh will do so for Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Uttarkhand.The North-Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health &amp; Medical Science (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong will assess all proposals from Assam, Megahlaya, Sikkim, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. The AIIMS, Nagpur has been allocated Maharashtra (except Mumbai and Pune) and Goa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu. The AIIMS in Jodhpur has been assigned Rajasthsan and Gujarat, King George Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow has been assigned Uttar Pradesh and AIIMS Bhopal has been allocated Madhya Pradesh among others. National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) spokesperson Sushma Gaur said, "NHSRCL is exploring all the possibilities to plan two high speed rail stations in Delhi." She said that one of the stations is in close proximity of Sarai Kale Khan and Nizamuddin railway station for Delhi-Varanasi high speed rail corridor, which may provide road connectivity to the high speed rail users through outer ring road, metro connectivity through pink line metro, interstate bus connectivity through Sarai Kale Khan ISBT and regional rail connectivity through RRTS system. The NHSRCL has started the aerial LiDAR survey for the 800km Delhi-Varanasi high speed rail corridor earlier this month. She said that the tenders related to <keyword id="387162" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="data-collection">data collection</keyword> and various other activities including LiDAR survey, required for the preparation of Detail Project Reports for Delhi-Varanasi, for which the first draft of the DPR has already been submitted. The NHSRCL on January 10 this year launched the LiDAR survey for the Delhi-Varanasi route from Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida, wherein a helicopter fitted with state-of-the-art aerial LiDAR and imagery sensors will capture data related to the ground survey along the proposed route. Another official related to the development told IANS that there will be two high speed rail stations in the Gautam Budha Nagar. Another official related to the development said that one of the high-speed rail station will come up near the proposed Jewar International Airport while the another one near Sector 148 in Noida. Talking about another station of the High Speed rail in Delhi, she said, "Locations are being explored for the other station for Delhi-Ahmedabad and Delhi-Amritsar high speed rail corridor, in close proximity of Sector-21, Dwarka Metro station and Bijwasan Railway station." She said that this may provide connectivity to Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport and central Delhi through Airport Express Metro Line and West Delhi, Central Delhi, East Delhi and Noida through Blue line Metro Line, upcoming <keyword id="9565" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="International-Convention-Centre">International Convention Centre</keyword> at Sector-25 and Gurugram. The Delhi-Amritsar-Chandigarh is 459 km long high speed rail corridor while the Delhi-Ahmedabad is 886 km long High speed rail corridor. The official said that the high speed rail stations in the national capital will be finalised only after the DPRs are submitted. Besides these three corridors, the <keyword id="76223" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ministry-of-Railways">Ministry of Railways</keyword> has entrusted the work to the NHSRCL to carry out the detailed project report (DPR) for the 711-km-long Mumbai-Hyderabad high-speed rail corridor, which will pass through Pune; 753-km-long Mumbai-Nagpur and as well as the 711-km-long Mumbai-Hyderabad bullet train corridor. The NHSRCL has also invited tenders for preparing the DPR for the 435-km-long Chennai-Mysuru and 760-km-long Varanasi-Howrah high speed rail corridors'. The NHSRCL is collecting data on these new proposed corridors for the preparation of the DPRs. LiDAR survey alignment or ground survey is a crucial activity for any linear infrastructure project as it provides accurate details of areas around the alignment. This technique uses a combination of laser data, GPS data, flight parameters and actual photographs to give accurate survey data. "Based on the findings of the survey, designing of the vertical and horizontal alignment, structures, location of the stations and depots, land requirement for the corridor, identification of project affected plots/structures, right of way etc are decided," Gaur said. The work on the 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train project is also in full swing. Delhi likely to get two stations under three proposed Bullet train projects

Lucknow, Dec 16 () The conditional letter of award pertaining to the Noida International Greenfield Airport, Jewar, was handed over to CEO of Zurich Airport International AG Daniel Bircher on Monday here, the UP government said.
"In the presence of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, conditional letter of award pertaining to the Noida International Greenfield Airport, Jewar, was handed over to CEO of Zurich Airport International AG Daniel Bircher by UP Chief Secretary RK Tiwari," it said in a statement.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the development of the airport will be done in a time-bound manner.
On Dec 9, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved Zurich Airport International as developer for Jewar airport.
The formal approval of the Uttar Pradesh government comes after a bidding process in which Zurich Airport beat Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), Adani Enterprises and Anchorage Infrastructure Investments Holdings Limited on Nov 29.
The winning bid was then put up before the project monitoring and implementation committee (PMIC) of the state government, before being forwarded to the Cabinet.
"Four bids had come for the airport. On the basis of weighted averages, Zurich Airport International was chosen," UP minister Siddharth Nath Singh had then said.
The Swiss firm offered a premium of Rs 400.97 per passenger to the government, the highest among the bidders. "We are of the view that the construction work for Jewar airport will begin in February next year," the minister had said.
The airport in Gautam Buddh Nagar district will be the third in the National Capital Region after Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport and Ghaziabad's Hindon.
The Jewar Airport or the Noida International Greenfield Airport will be spread over 5,000 hectares when fully built at an estimated to cost Rs 29,560 crore, officials have said.
It is expected to have six to eight runways, the maximum at an airport in India, when fully built. The first phase of the airport would be spread over 1,334 hectares and completed by 2023,, according to officials.

The fares of this metro will also be cheaper at 1.5 times that of a bus — unlike other metros across the country. The metro project is expected to cost ₹5,108 crore — and nearly 21% of it will be funded by the centre. The Jammu and Kashmir government will also infuse equal amount into the project. Once operational, the government is expecting a return of investment of ₹146 crore from the project, in the first five years. “Revenue for the <keyword id="7960419" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Srinagar-Metro">Srinagar Metro</keyword> will mainly consist of farebox collection and non-fare box sources such as parking, taxes, advertisements, and property development,” TOI reported citing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Srinagar. The worst floods in recent memory in Jammu &amp; Kashmir washed away hopes and dreams, leaving death and destruction in its wake. Phones came handy in making distress calls before they too conked out, forcing many harried people stuck in swirling waters and their relatives at safer places to take to social media to post desperate messages for help. 
 Bollywood actor Aamir Bashir, best remembered for his role in A Wednesday, tweeted his cousin's family was stuck on their rooftop in Raj Bagh in Srinagar on Sunday before they were rescued. There were dozens of such desperate tweets and posts on social media. In one of them, London-based novelist-journalist <keyword id="1331944" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Mirza-Waheed">Mirza Waheed</keyword> posted his aunt and family were trapped in their house in Qamarwari before he lost contact with them. 
 
Kashmiris were united in grief across religious lines. Chandigarh-based Kashmiri student Japjyot Singh posted a heart-warming story of his family’s rescue from Raj Bagh. He wrote on Facebook his family was stuck on the second floor of their house and “were in a big danger". 
 
He added but no rescue team, no army came. His father’s shikara wala friend, Gul, came from the Dal Lake, around six-km away, to save his family. "…was thanking him he told beta so what if your dad is a Sikh he's my brother and I can die to save his life," posted Singh. 
 Many netizens posted locations of their relatives stuck in flood waters on <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> Maps to seek their rescue on Facebook and Twitter. 
 
Opposition People’s Democratic Party lawmaker Naeem Akhtar posted a desperate message seeking rescue of his friends and relatives including his uncle and noted poet, Farooq Nazki, and his wife, who were are marooned and out of touch. 
 
“Disaster has just unfolded itself. Going by the response to it, it could turn out to be a catastrophe. Have received frantic calls from friends, relatives and unknown people for help. One single demand is boats, the only life saving device needed now," he wrote on Sunday. 
 “Have spoken to everyone I know in administration but without success. Nobody picks up phones any more. Peer Ghulam Hassan Shah, the octogenarian legendary DGP and architect of <keyword id="108598" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="JK-police">J&amp;K Police</keyword>, is squeezed into his second storey with no help in sight." 
 
He added Dr Shafqat, his hands on physician, had spoken to him from the third floor of his house in Raj Bagh. “Shahid, my young friend who ran a volunteer service till last evening in Raj Bagh, is also drowning as he informed me in panic. Lots of relatives in the area." 
 Tech savvy chief minister <keyword id="19464" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Omar-Abdullah">Omar Abdullah</keyword>, who oversaw disaster management, updated people about rescue operations on Twitter. “Around 25 boats flown into Awantipura air base for South Kashmir rescue ops and are being sent to the affected areas," he tweeted on Sunday night. 
 
 
 
Earlier, he announced boats have begun rescuing people and operations would continue as long as needed. “The boats flown in from Delhi have been launched in Srinagar's worst affected areas of Indiranagar, Shivpura, Rajbagh." He acknowledged tweets for help he was receiving and assured: “We are trying our best.’’ 
 
He called floods “an unprecedented situation" and urged people not to panic while assuring: “We will reach you, I promise." 
 
Right-wing trolls as usual had a field day spewing venom, forcing a prominent Delhi-based journalist to tweet: “So now we have patriotic floods and anti-national floods, and patriotic disasters and anti-national disasters."
