<ul><li>The Indian wearable market has declined for the second consecutive quarter.</li><li>The smartwatch segment has recorded a huge decline in shipments in Q3 2024.</li><li>The earwear segment has also declined, while the smart ring segment remains strong.</li></ul>The <keyword id="22725790" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-wearables-market" source="keywords">Indian wearables market</keyword> has declined for the second consecutive quarter, recording a 20.7% year-on-year decline in shipments in Q3 2024. There was a 10% decline in shipments in Q2 2024. According to a report by the International Data Corporation, 38 million devices were shipped in the country’s wearables market in Q3 2024. The decline is being attributed to a reduction in new product launches and a cautious inventory strategy. <h2>Smartwatch shipments decline</h2>The smartwatch category recorded a decline of 44.8% as shipments declined from 16.92 million devices in Q3 2023 to 9.34 million in Q3 2024. Not just the basic smartwatches, the shipments of premium smartwatches also declined by 39.9% year-on-year. The Smartwatch average selling price (ASP) however increased by 1.4% from $25.8 to $26.2. The wristband category, which remained strong in Q2 has also declined in Q3, recording a 48.4% year-on-year decline in shipments. The earwear category also struggled, with a 7.5% decline in shipments from 30.29 million in Q3 2023 to 28.52 in Q3 2024. <h2>The smart ring category continues to shine</h2>The smart ring market has remained strong, with 92 thousand smart rings shipped in Q3 2024. The quarter also recorded a decline in the average selling price of 16.2% to $162.1. undifferentiated products and a limited number of brands in play. India’s wearables market shipped 29.5 million devices in Q2 2024. According to a report by the International Data Corporation, the first half of 2024 also reported a decline of 4.7%, with 55.1 million units shipped during the first six months. As per the report, innovation exhaustion and existing channel inventory of older models were the key reasons for the decline in shipments. The Smartwatch average selling price (ASP) dropped to $20.6 from $25.6 a year ago due to discounts being offered to clear inventory. The wristband category however continued to grow, recording a 23.4% growth in shipments. India’s wearables market decline for the first time as smartwatch shipments fall

While a small growth has been recorded in the first quarter, the growth was hindered by high inventory carried over from the festive season in 2023. The share of offline channels in shipments increased to 37.9% in Q1 2024 from 26.1% in Q1 2023. India’s wearable shipments rise by 2.1% in Q1 2024, average price declines

According to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), 134.2 million wearables were shipped in India in 2023. Fire Boltt, Noise lead India’s wearable market growth which sees a 34% spike

New Delhi [India], May 22 (ANI): The average selling price (ASP) for overall <keyword id="1531471" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="wearable-devices" source="Orion">wearable devices</keyword> has declined by more than 17 per cent in the first quarter of 2024—from USD 22.62 to USD 18.59—hitting a record low, the <keyword id="668267" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="International-Data-Corporation" source="Orion">International Data Corporation</keyword> (<keyword id="6377157" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IDC" source="Orion">IDC</keyword>) observed in its latest report. Excess inventory in the online channel and fewer new launches were some of the primary reasons behind the decline in prices, the report noted. Citing a similar situation a year ago, it added, that the <keyword id="21764166" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="smartwatch-ASPs" source="keywords">Smartwatch ASPs</keyword> dropped to USD20.65 from USD29.24 a year ago on the back of e-tailer sales events and discounts. Although, the share of advanced smartwatches increased from 2.0 per cent to 3.2 per cent in the 1Q24. The <keyword id="21764167" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-wearable-device-market" source="keywords">Indian wearable device market</keyword> grew by 2.1 per cent year-over-year (YoY) to 25.6 million units after growing by at least double digits consecutively since the fourth quarter of 2017. According to the IDC data, the top five vendors namely BoAt, Noise, Fire-Bolt, Boult, and Oppo, remain unchanged from a year ago. Although their collective share declined from 63.9 per cent to 59.9 per cent, the long tail of smaller vendors gained a share. Within the smartwatch category, shipments of the top three vendors declined due to high channel inventory. However, Titan and BeatXP grew by 2X and 3X, respectively. In the earwear category, all vendors from the top five grew their shipments, except Boult, the report observed. "Vendors have started focusing on retail expansion via partnerships with large format national and/or regional retail chains and bundling wearables with other product categories like smartphones, laptops, etc. It will be interesting to see if these initiatives help bring back the growth momentum, especially in the festive sales period in the second half of the year," said Anand Priya Singh, Market Analyst, Smart Wearable Devices, IDC India. Noting the increasing share of offline channels, the report adds that there was an increase of 11.8 per cent in the first quarter of 2023, while online channel shipments declined by 14.1 per cent YoY in 1Q24, its second consecutive quarter of decline.

In Q4 2023, the Indian PC market recorded shipments of 3.3 million devices. In 2023, the PC consumer segment declined by 3.1% year-on-year while the commercial segment declined by 9.7%. The company led both the consumer and commercial segments in 2023, with a market share of 33.6% and 29.4% respectively. Lenovo and Dell, which have a 16.7% and 15.5% market share, respectively, have reported a decline in their market share. Acer has recorded the highest increase in market share, from 9.9% in 2022 to 12.3% in 2023. The company had strong traction in the government and education segments, leading the commercial desktop category with a share of 29.6%. Indian PC market down by 6.6% in 2023, HP leads the market while Acer gains

The tablet shipments in India in 2023 declined by 24.9% compared to shipments in 2022. It’s not just the Indian market as the worldwide tablet shipments also<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/news/tablet-shipments-hit-a-12-year-low-declining-by-over-20-in-2023/articleshow/107447670.cms"> declined</a> in 2023 to hit a 12-year low. According to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), while there was a small increase in shipments in the consumer segment, the commercial segment declined sharply. As per the report, while the consumer segment reported a 1.9% year-on-year growth, the commercial segment declined by 42.3%, due to delays and cancellations in government deals. The education segment also declined by 53.7% as offline classes have returned to normalcy. “With options under $300 (approx. ₹24,800), with bigger screens, and increased usage of tablets for on-the-go productivity and entertainment, the consumer segment grew despite challenging market conditions,” said Bharath Shenoy, senior research analyst, IDC India. aggressive, consumers had more to choose from,” Shenoy added. As per the report, increased competition from newer players has impacted the performance of these companies. “Tablets will be challenged in 2024 due to reduced demand in the commercial segment. Government-driven projects will be limited in the first half of 2024 due to the election code of conduct. Also, the tablet market will witness stiff competition from Chromebooks and entry level Android notebooks such as the JioBook in the manifesto deals. These two Indian brands have together sold more smartwatches than Samsung in 2022

In the last 30 months, it has witnessed a 17X growth and has expanded its presence to over 8000 offline outlets. They are growing at about 50% target growth this year. So I think expanding our reach and getting deeper into the category we’re already present in will further fuel our growth,” added Amit. Amit also shares that he does not want Noise to be an India-centric brand and that it is already testing global markets. “Design, R&amp;D and consumer-centricity are our three key pillars and we will continue to aggressively focus on that to grow our brand,” added Amit.
