Homegrown electric vehicle company <keyword id="2622993" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ather-energy" source="Orion">Ather Energy</keyword> on Thursday announced a new e-scooter '450S', powered by a 3 kWh battery pack, which will bring much-desired performance-centric EV mobility to more commuters in the country. Starting at Rs 1,29,999, the company will start accepting bookings for the new 450S from July onwards. "Within the category, the 450S will break new grounds and will offer first-of-its-kind tech features in the performance scooter segment, raising the bar in terms of riding pleasure and safety while still delivering on performance," <keyword id="1442828" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tarun-mehta" source="Orion">Tarun Mehta</keyword>, Co-Founder and CEO, Ather Energy, said in a statement. The contracts are likely to come into effect from the end of July. Moreover, several lucrative offers have turned out as fraudulent schemes. “We’re now at the stage that people have been getting the offers after the interviews, and they’ve been very slow in giving their documents, because they’re still thinking it’s too good to be true,” a Dubai based newspaper The National reported citing Roddy Hammond, the founder and CEO of World Teachers Recruitment. Given that the government schools stand significantly poor, compared to the private institutions in UAE, the move is aimed at nourishing the condition of state-run schools in the country. The UAE government is wooing Indian teachers — offering 10 times higher pay than their current

Abu Dhabi, May 3 () A 62-year-old Indian businessman has died in Abu Dhabi after contracting the novel coronavirus, according to a media report. PK Kareem Haji, who hailed from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, died on Thursday due to complications arising from coronavirus infection, his son Mohammad Abdul Gafoor told the Gulf News. Haji was a former president of Abu Dhabi Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC) and an active member in the Indian Islamic Centre and the Sunni Centre, the daily reported. Gafoor said his father was a diabetes patient since 15 years. "Two weeks ago he complained of fever, cough. Our local doctor took a swab test and the result came positive (for coronavirus). My father was shifted to Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi. His condition deteriorated and the last two days he was put on ventilator," Gafoor said. Haji is survived by his wife, three sons and four grandchildren. The Indian community here is in "shock" with Haji's passing, the daily reported. "We are in shock. Haji tested positive two weeks ago. His condition was pretty serious and he was put on ventilator. But on April 30 he died in the early hours of the morning at 12.36 am. The community is very sad," said Shukoor Ali Kallungan, president of KMCC, Abu Dhabi. Haji's was leading the fight against coronavirus in Abu Dhabi. He was in-charge of a food drive feeding over 1,000 people. Haji was working with restaurants to send packed meals to workers during the country's sterilisation drive. INDIND

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (<keyword id="6354859" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="iit" source="Orion">IIT</keyword>) Guwahati have developed a <keyword id="528548" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="prosthetic-leg" source="Orion">prosthetic leg</keyword> specifically designed for Indian conditions. The <keyword id="14184479" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="low-cost-prosthetic-leg" source="Orion">low cost prosthetic leg</keyword> is suitable for uneven terrain and supports Indian needs such as cross-legged sitting, and deep squatting. It is also adjustable for the different age groups and multiple stages of prosthesis use. Prosthesis development in India faces many challenges. Highly functional mobility for amputees requires devices with advanced features which are expansive and cannot be afforded by many. Further, affordable prosthetics that are available in the market have many functional limitations. In addition, the Indian lifestyle and uneven terrain require prosthetics with specifications unique to India, which are not widely available in the market. "The knee joint developed by our team has a spring assisted deep squat mechanism, which helps to use the Indian toilet system more comfortably; the knee rotating mechanism helps to have cross legged sitting," said Professor S. Kanagaraj, Department of Mechanical Engineering, <keyword id="186684" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="iit-guwahati" source="Orion">IIT Guwahati</keyword>, in a statement. "The locking mechanism helps to reduce the fear of falling of patients while walking in an unknown terrain; adjustable link length in a knee helps to have either more stability or easy flexing depending on age and requirement of the patients. Overall, the knee joint is designed to meet the Indian lifestyle which other products fail to fulfil." Prototypes of the models are currently undergoing trials, and it is being tested as per international standard loading conditions up to 100 kg body weight. Cost of around Rs 25,000 is ensured using the technology, the Institute said. The company has said prices for the US will not change. As per the blog post by Sony, it has increased the prices due to “challenging economic conditions”. The company has blamed “high global inflation rates” and “adverse currency trends” for the increased prices. “We’re seeing high global inflation rates, as well as adverse currency trends, impacting consumers and creating pressure on many industries,” Jim Ryan, the chief executive officer of Sony Interactive Entertainment said in a blog post. “Based on these challenging economic conditions, SIE has made the difficult decision to increase the recommended retail price (RRP) of PlayStation 5 in select markets across Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Asia-Pacific (APAC), Latin America (LATAM), as well as Canada,” Ryan added. The company has increased the prices of both the disc and digital editions of the PlayStation 5. The company has raised the prices by up to 10% in Europe and Japan, while the UK has received a 6% hike. “While this price increase is a necessity given the current global economic environment and its impact on SIE’s business, our top priority continues to be improving the PS5 supply situation so that as many players as possible can experience everything that PS5 offers and what’s still to come,” Ryan added. The company has not mentioned the new price of the PlayStation 5 in India. It has mentioned that countries not in the list may also receive a price increase. Sony hikes the prices of PlayStation 5 by up to 10%

For the first time, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Indian+Government+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Indian Government </a>is looking forward to fund up to 60% of the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=research+and+development+%28R%26D%29+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">research and development (R&amp;D) </a>cost for developing indigenous low-cost electric technology. This move will help power two-, three-wheelers and commercial vehicles operating in public spaces and is aimed at reducing <keyword id="13001" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="pollution">pollution</keyword>. 
 
Electric mobiles are a foolproof alternatives to reduce pollution and along with it, the government is also looking forward to boost its <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=%E2%80%98Make+in+India%E2%80%99+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">‘Make in India’ </a>initiative. 
 
"The intent is to make the hybrid and electric vehicle market in India self-sustaining by increasing domestic capacities for product and technology development. We are inviting proposals in five areas, which will be undertaken as consortia projects involving multiple companies and academic institutions. The government has agreed to provide up to 60% of R&amp;D costs involved in eligible projects,” a senior government representative associated with the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Technology+Platform+for+Electric+Mobility&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Technology Platform for Electric Mobility</a> (TPEM), told ET. 
 TPEM is a joint initiative of the departments of heavy industry (DHI) and science and technology (<keyword id="6355529" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="DST">DST</keyword>). 
 Globally, major <keyword id="32870" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Auto">auto</keyword> makers design battery modules in-house for use across their range of green vehicles. With demand for electric vehicles being miniscule in India, it has become necessary to design a common module which can be utilised by several manufacturers to generate scale and make viable economics of manufacturing and selling electric vehicles. 
 
"A lot of research is being done at the basic level in India. Indian engineers also work on developing finished products for global companies. However, there is a gap which exists today for progressing from the prototype to testing and validation phase indigenously. The attempt is to bridge this and (locally) make battery modules, motor, motor controllers and power electronics,” an executive from a leading component manufacturing company, told ET. 
 
Also underway is a study to evaluate driving patterns on roads to fine-tune the technology. 
 
"Since electric vehicles run on battery, the use of air-conditioning and driving uphill may draw out excessive energy. The technology has to factor in these conditions. Light weighting is important to address range anxiety,” a second government official told ET.

For this, more than half of the Indian companies are increasing their salary budgets from last year given the tight labour market conditions. “2022 saw actual salary increments being higher than budgets and this was largely due to better-than-expected business performance and the need to retain talent. Tesla's 'Full Self Driving' Beta programme request button goes live

As more and more cases of unexpected heart attacks and even <keyword id="63250" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="strokes" source="Orion">strokes</keyword> come to light among the <keyword id="6354750" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="health" source="Orion">health</keyword>y, young and middle-aged Indians, a new survey revealed on Friday that both unvaccinated and vaccinated people have been impacted by this new health emergency. About 51 per cent citizens said they have one or more individuals in their close network who have experienced heart or brain stroke, blood clots, neurological complications, cancer acceleration, or other sudden medical conditions in the last two years. According to the survey by LocalCircles, a social community platform, 62 per cent citizens said those in their network developed such conditions were double vaccinated, 11 per cent said that those impacted were single-dose vaccinated, while 8 per cent said they were not vaccinated. While 61 per cent said their contacts with severe medical conditions had <keyword id="8764262" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="covid" source="Orion">Covid</keyword> once or more, 28 per cent said their contacts who experienced severe medical conditions never had Covid, according to the survey involving 32,000 citizens from 357 districts. Researchers estimate that over 200 million people worldwide may currently be having long Covid conditions, where they are experiencing myocarditis, pericarditis, brain fog or memory issues, sleep apnea, fatigue, joint pain, and other health conditions. In addition to these, several cases have been reported in the media just in the last 3 months where healthy, young and middle-aged individuals, both men and women have experienced a <keyword id="6357661" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="heart-attack" source="Orion">heart attack</keyword> and died. "In several of these cases, the individual was engaged in some physical activity like dance, gym, walking etc. when they experienced the cardiac event. This has led to worries and anxiety in the minds of many, wanting to understand what is driving such sudden deaths," according to the survey. "Stroke has been seen as a manifestation of Covid-19 in various studies, showing that 0.9 per cent to 23 per cent Covid-19 patients developed stroke," according to Bengaluru-headquartered Narayana Health. Though the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare came out with a "National Comprehensive Guidelines for Management of Post-COVID Sequelae" for doctors last year, not much seems to have been done to inform citizens, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, who survived more than one bout of Covid or its variants, on possible complications and the need to avoid Covid reinfections. The government guidelines at the onset stated that "up to 20 per cent-30 per cent of patients hospitalised with severe Covid have evidence of myocardial involvement manifested by elevated troponin levels, venous thromboembolism, heart failure and arrhythmias". The survey found that more than half the respondents knew of at least one or more individuals who are suffering due to after-effects of Covid. "This is a high percentage which clearly indicates that prevalence of these severe conditions is very much a reality," the findings showed. LocalCircles said it will escalate these findings to key stakeholders in the governments so the same can be evaluated for further research and on-ground actions. New Delhi, Jan 31 () Stating that steps are being taken on a regular basis to prevent rail accidents, the Economic Survey on Friday said consequential train accidents registered a decline in 2018-19.
 It said number of consequential train accidents decreased to 59 in 2018-19, compared with 73 in the previous year. In 2019-20 (April-October 2019), 41 consequential train accidents took place.
 "Safety is accorded the highest priority by Indian Railways and steps are being undertaken on a continuous basis to prevent accidents and to enhance safety of the passengers," according to the Economic Survey 2019-20 tabled in Parliament.
 The Indian Railways with over 68,000 route-kilometres is the third-largest network in the world under single management.
 During 2018-19, the Indian Railways carried 120 crore tonnes of freight and 840 crore passengers, making it the world's largest passenger carrier and fourth-largest freight carrier.
 Revenue earning freight loading by Indian Railways in 2018-19 was 12,215 lakh tonnes as against 11,596 lakh tonnes during 2017-18, registering a rise of 5.34 per cent.
 Passengers originating stood at 84,390 lakh in 2018-19 as compared to 82,858 lakh in 2017-18, registering an increase of 1.85 per cent in 2018-19 over the previous year.
 Indian Railways cover over 8,700 stations and carry around 230 lakh passengers daily with clientele of varied socio-economic backgrounds.
 Cleanliness is a continuous process and every endeavour is made to keep the stations and coaches in properly maintained and clean condition, the survey said.
 Special cleanliness campaigns under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan were launched by the Indian Railways on October 2, 2014.
 "Regular intensive campaigns/drives have been organised since then by the Indian Railways with the sole objective to achieve significant and sustainable improvements in cleanliness standards," it said.
 Modernisation or upgradation of railway stations in Indian Railways is a continuous process, the Survey said adding that 1,253 stations have been identified for development under Adarsh Station Scheme and are planned to be developed by 2019-20.
 A dedicated special purpose vehicle, Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC) Ltd, has been set up to carry out modernisation of railway stations.
 IRSDC is working on modernisation of many stations on the public-private partnership mode. SID HRS

The timing of the launch was indeed planned to coincide with a period when people with asthma have the most intense need for reassurance about treatment choices, and more importantly, the encouragement to opt for the appropriate therapy to avoid suffering that can easily be overcome. Diwali is not only marked with excessive pollution which is dangerous for patients with asthma but it is also timed at the turn of season which often tends to exacerbate breathing problem. Hence, to answer your question, yes, our teams have put in much thought and consideration into the timing of the campaign but we were definitely not counting on such severe levels of pollution in Delhi making headlines this year. <keyword id="8442736" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="berok-zindagi">Berok Zindagi</keyword> is centered on the core principle of driving awareness about asthma, breaking the taboos and misconceptions surrounding it and getting people to say yes to inhalation therapy which is effective and accepted worldwide as one of the safest ways to treat asthma. As a matter of fact, our research showed us 14% increase in the acceptance of inhalers. In the previous year, we used a widely known face who understood asthma, having suffered from the condition herself. Given her wide appeal, we managed to get uncountable people to come forth and talk about their experiences with asthma without any fear of judgement or stigma. For us, this marked a real shift in people’s conduct towards asthma. This time, we have adopted a newer format of communicating the message. The digital film for #InhalersHainSahi begins with Radhika Apte starting a conversation on facts and misinformed beliefs about asthma. Radhika represents and directly connects with every such person who is not affected by the disease but cares about those who are. Q) Considering direct advertising is not allowed for pharma companies in India, what are you trying to achieve through your communication? For us at Cipla, the patient is at the core of whatever we do. Our endeavour is to go beyond the pill and help patients to the best of our abilities, even by empowering them to stay healthy. As a pharmaceutical company, in line with established Indian norms, we do not advertise our products. Our narrative is on helping patients become aware. As a leading player in the respiratory segment, it is important that we take it upon ourselves to take the stigma and the myths that exist in the category today that is coming in the way of a patient living a free life. Berok Zindagi is our attempt to do just that – inform the patient, help him/her by busting myths and helping patients live freely. Q) Is Digital the most important medium for you currently? As of now, we have released the digital leg of Berok Zindagi with an online film for #InhalersHainSahi on social media. However, a multi-media approach is planned, which will utilize several other platforms over the upcoming months. Digital is very important for us mostly because of the sheer flexibility of formats that it offers for communicating a message. A separate TVC has been launched too. Besides that, other amplifications have been planned over time. TV continues to be an important medium due to its mass reach. Notwithstanding, digital’s massive traction is progressively increasing. Hence, though traditional methods like engaging with people through TV remains imperative, given its wide reach and continuing popularity in India, to connect with all our target groups, marketing has to include new-age mediums like the digital platforms. In fact, this year, we first launched the digital piece with the influencers. Our intent this time is to reach people with asthma and also those who have an impact on their lives, irrespective of whether they suffer from the condition or not. The aim is to change people’s mindset and help them make the right decision for themselves and their loved ones. As a result, our focus also remains on reaching out to every person possible through every pattern and medium of content consumption. Q) Will your marketing strategy continue to be picking up a particular disease/condition and talking about it through influencers/brand ambassadors/actors? Not necessarily. The campaigns and initiatives driven by the India Business have different approaches, but the intention behind these is more or less the same. Our efforts are focussed on driving awareness about a disease, getting people to engage with the information, encourage them to take necessary actions for appropriate treatment and even foster the prevention of deterioration. This pro-patient approach and intent remains constant across therapies, be it cardiovascular, urology or respiratory. For instance, we are driving a massive effort for a urological condition called Benign Prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) through an initiative called What a Relief. BPH can cause bladder, urinary tract or kidney problems and is a common cause of lowered quality of life amongst men aged 40 and above. The point is to make strategic choices to increase our interface and engagement with the patients, to help them accept a health problem and make appropriate decisions for it.
