Well it is this love for delicious food might be inching up your fat intake. Along with dal fry, dishes like stuffed paratha, chuduva (poha), Karnataka’s staple Bisibelebath and Andhra’s favourite pulihora (tamarind rice) — have all been listed as foods with high amounts of ‘visible fat’ by an ICMR survey. It doesn’t matter if you are a mutton <keyword id="41887" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="biryani">biryani</keyword> person or a chicken biryani person. Almost all non-vegetarian foods like, fish, chicken, egg and mutton give high amounts of visible fat, says the survey by Indian Council of Medical Research-National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN). But vegetarians have nothing to be too happy about either. Those who love to eat rice with potato fry and other tubers and roots consume more ‘visible’ fat, the survey says. Moreover, researchers noted that contrary to general belief, vegetarians consumed more fat than non-vegetarians in the seven metros they surveyed. Delhi and Ahmedabad top the fat charts The Dil-wala Delhi meals and Gujarati meals which “cannot-be-served-without-ghee” also made it to the top of the list. The survey says that Delhi and Ahmedabad consumed the highest levels of visible fat among the seven metros <keyword id="8796353" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="whilemumbai">whileMumbai</keyword> and Hyderabad consumed the least. The other cities which were a part of the survey were Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata.

 “The visible fat consumption levels were significantly higher in Delhi and Ahmedabad at 44.4 gm per person/day and 43.9 gmrespectively, while the average intake in Hyderabad and Mumbai were the lowest at 25.1 gm,” says Prof P K Seth, chairman of International Life Sciences Institute India. ‘Don’t ditch your biryani but eat healthy’ Seth added that the average intake of all metros pooled was at 32.6 gm per person/day. ICMR recommends 20 gm per person per day. Overall, 18% of the total intake of energy came from visible fat. “Although, we know you can’t ditch your beloved biryani, but it is important that people are motivated to consume balanced diets, adopt a healthy lifestyle, undertake physical activity including Yoga,” said Seth. Meals in Delhi and Ahmedabad have the highest amount of fat

The <keyword id="6364555" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="indian-council-of-medical-research" source="Orion">Indian Council of Medical Research</keyword> (<keyword id="6364396" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="icmr" source="Orion">ICMR</keyword>) has sought proposals in <keyword id="619017" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="stillbirths" source="Orion">stillbirths</keyword> under the <keyword id="15545302" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="icmr-task-force-programme" source="Orion">ICMR Task Force Programme</keyword> for research funding. The concept proposals with specific objectives and scientific questions should be submitted online by December 30, 2022, by 5 pm, it said. "<keyword id="113952" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="stillbirth" source="Orion">Stillbirth</keyword>s are a hidden tragedy that impacts millions of women and families across the globe daily. The stillbirth rate may be one of the indicators of the quality of a country's medical system. Stillbirth has multifactorial etiologies. Early identification of risk factors for stillbirth and appropriate antenatal management may reduce preventable stillbirths and improve the pregnancy outcomes," the ICMR said in a release. The ICMR Call for Proposals in Stillbirths, under the ICMR Task Force Programme, further states that the initiative is in line with the government's aim of bringing the number of stillbirths in the country down to single digits by 2030. "The INAP by the Government of India now plans to bring down stillbirths to single digits by 2030. There is a need for research into the causes of stillbirth and effective prevention and treatment of these causes identifying research challenges. The ICMR expert group on Still Births has identified three key thematic areas to prioritise and articulate research challenges," the ICMR said. "The concept proposal can be submitted for financial support through online mode only by scientists/ professionals, who have regular employment in medical institutes/research institutes/ universities/colleges/recognised research and development laboratories/government and semi-government organisations and NGOs (documentary evidence of their recognition including DSIR certificate should be enclosed with the proposal)," the ICMR release further stated. Stillbirths are a hidden tragedy says ICMR as it seeks research funding

The condition of a young woman of African origin, who is the sixth reported case of <keyword id="7616951" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="monkeypox" source="Orion">monkeypox</keyword> in Delhi, is stable, sources said. The patient is admitted to the <keyword id="6394484" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="lnjp-hospital" source="Orion">LNJP Hospital</keyword> here. "A total of six cases of monkeypox have been reported in Delhi so far. The latest is a young woman of African origin. Her condition is stable at present," a source said. The six cases comprise three men and three women. "The early five cases have been treated and discharged," a senior doctor said. Monkeypox is a viral zoonotic disease having common symptoms such as fever, skin lesions, lymphadenopathy, headache, muscle aches, exhaustion, chills or sweats and sore throat and cough. According to a study done recently by the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital (LNJP) and the <keyword id="6364555" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="indian-council-of-medical-research" source="Orion">Indian Council of Medical Research</keyword> (<keyword id="6364396" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="icmr" source="Orion">ICMR</keyword>), all the first five cases had presented with "mild to moderate grade intermittent fever, myalgia (muscle pain) and lesions on the genitals, groins, lower limb, trunk and upper limb". Four cases had non-tender firm lymphadenopathy (swelling of lymph nodes). No secondary complications or sexually transmitted infections were recorded in these cases except for Hepatitis B in one case, it had said. In Delhi, the first case of monkeypox was reported on July 24. Delhi government-run LNJP Hospital has been made the nodal facility to treat patients with this viral infection. Sixth monkeypox case: Patient in stable condition at LNJP Hospital

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Wednesday said the third phase of trial of Covaxin, a <keyword id="9258649" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="potential-vaccine">potential vaccine</keyword> against COVID-19, will begin in the state on November 20 and offered to be the first volunteer to get vaccinated. Covaxin is being developed indigenously by <keyword id="149108" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharat-Biotech">Bharat Biotech</keyword> in collaboration with <keyword id="1256547" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-Indian-Council-of-Medical-Research">the Indian Council of Medical Research</keyword> (ICMR). Last month, the vaccine maker had said it had successfully completed <keyword id="9025247" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Interim-analysis">interim analysis</keyword> of Phase 1 and 2 trials and is initiating Phase 3 trials. "Trial for third phase of Covaxin, a coronavirus vaccine product of Bharat Biotech, to start in Haryana on 20th November. I have offered myself as the first volunteer to get vaccinated," Vij said in a tweet. Bharat Biotech had on Monday said the Phase 3 trial of Covaxin will involve 26,000 volunteers across 25 centres in India and is being conducted in partnership with the ICMR. It is the largest clinical trial conducted for a COVID-19 vaccine in India. This is India's first Phase 3 efficacy study for a COVID-19 vaccine, and the largest Phase 3 efficacy trial ever conducted. India's drug regulator has given approval for a study to be conducted by the <keyword id="93589" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Christian-Medical-College">Christian Medical College</keyword> (CMC), Vellore on mixing of COVID-19 vaccines <keyword id="9485939" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="covaxin">Covaxin</keyword> and Covishield, official sources said on Wednesday. An expert panel of the <keyword id="170943" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Central-Drugs-Standard-Control-Organisation">Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation</keyword> (CDSCO) on July 29 had recommended granting permission for conducting the study. The trial will involve 300 healthy volunteers. "The aim of the study is to assess the feasibility on whether a person can be given two different vaccine shots -- one each of Covishield and Covaxin -- to complete the inoculation course," a source said. Separately, a recent study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) involving 98 people, 18 of whom had inadvertently received Covishield as the first dose and Covaxin as the second in <keyword id="413944" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="uttar">Uttar</keyword> Pradesh, showed that combining these two COVID-19 vaccines elicited better immunogenicity than two doses of the same vaccine. The study also found that immunisation with combination of Covishield and Covaxin was safe and the adverse effects were also found to be similar when compared to the same dose regimen.
