<ul><li>Hundreds of students at the all-women <keyword id="6454339" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="gargi-college">Gargi College</keyword> of the University of Delhi (DU) are staging protests outside the campus against the sexual assault by a group of drunk men who barged in the campus during the college’s annual cultural fest. </li><li>The students are now demanding “safe fest or no fest.” </li><li>Come Monday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced a Zero Hour in the upper house of the Parliament over the incident and the authorities are looking into the matter.</li></ul>Hundreds of students at the all-women Gargi College of the University of Delhi (DU) are staging a protest outside the college campus against the sexual assault by a group of men, who gatecrashed their campus fest. According to the National Commission for Women (NCW), nearly 36 intruders who were drunk, barged in the campus during the college’s annual cultural fest — ‘Reverie’ — on February 6 and misbehaved with the students. The NCW also alleged that the police took no action against them. “The Rapid Action Force personnel were standing right across the campus. They did absolutely nothing.  The matter surfaced when students narrated their experiences at the fest on social media. They allege that the men groped, abused and molested them. “Men stood in gangs, ogled at women, groped them, tried to feel them up and touched them throughout the concert,” said the official statement from Gargi students.

 On Monday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced a Zero Hour in the upper house of the Parliament over the incident. "Misbehaviour with our daughters in Gargi College is very sad and disappointing. This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated. Culprits should be given the harshest possible punishment and we must ensure that children studying in our colleges feel safe," the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said.

 Meanwhile, the Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said in the Lok Sabha that, “It has come to our notice that some outsiders had entered the college, which is not right. The college administration has been asked to look into it,” ANI <a href="https://www.news18.com/news/india/parliament-live-budget-discussion-on-agenda-today-aap-to-raise-gargi-college-molestation-incident-2494483.html">reported</a>. The Delhi Police has now registered a molestation case. “The administration also showed its laxity by opening gates from time to time,” it said. “The police force and RAF did nothing to control the situation,” the students alleged. ‘Girls shouldn’t participate in the fest if they feel unsafe’ The students also blamed the Principal Promila Kumar saying that “When the students tried to approach the principal for what was happening on the ground, she said that the students shouldn’t come to the fest if they felt unsafe.” However, Kumar said that no such incident was reported to the college authorities. “It is a serious incident and I will deliberate on it. But unfortunately nobody has reported it to me. We had a huge security arrangement, including police, bouncers and even commandos along with the teaching and non-teaching staff, on duty. No one came to us and reported any such incident,” she told IANS. The college authorities, or the students have not filed any official police complaint even after five days. ANI reported that the Delhi Police has now visited the college to verify the incident through the CCTV footage. The Left-backed Democratic Students' Federation (DSF) compared the act to mob attacks at the Jawaharlal Nehru University and attacks at the Jamia Millia Islamia University. It also said that this was “deliberate negligence on the part of the administration and the security led to a situation where a score of inebriated men were allowed to enter the campus and grope and harass the students." And then we built the experiences from our memories of the college. <img class="gwt-Image" src="/photo/55069290.cms" />The 41st edition of IIT’s annual cultural fest, <keyword id="37794" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rendezvous">Rendezvous</keyword>, was a starry affair like last year. Deemed to be one of the most fun fests, it kick-started on Monday with pomp and show. 
 On day 1, street plays and beat boxing competition kept the fun and excitement going in the campus. It continued with Blitzkrieg – an English rock band competition, which literally had the crowd head-banging. Energy was at an all time high as soon as Euphoria hit the stage. Crowds grooved to singer <keyword id="19788" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="palash-sen">Palash Sen</keyword>’s ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. He dedicated the show to Indian soldiers. The band DU performance had started with Lady Shri Ram College for Women, following which it has performed at IIT four times. 
 
Before they came in for final showdown, four bands competed in IIT’s Hindi rock band competition Spectrum. Following this band TMKC (Teri Music Ki Chahat) made its way to the stage and sung their version of ‘Muqabala Muqabala’ keeping the crowds with them all along. 
 The event also saw lyricist <keyword id="10355" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Javed-Akhtar">Javed Akhtar</keyword>. He was a guest at a session titled 'Mukhatib: In conversation With Javed Akhtar'. Known for his bold views on several topics of social interest, this man of fame did not shy away in voicing his concerns over Triple Talaq, at <keyword id="57604" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="iit-delhi">IIT Delhi</keyword>. He said- "This is not the first time that I am saying this. Is it a topic which can have two points of view? It is a shame that the country is allowing this. The whole idea is sick. It is a matter of shame. Triple talaq is not allowed in Pakistan or Bangladesh, but it's allowed in India." 
 
As students moved away from the thought provoked session, music composers Vishal-Shekhar gripped IIT Delhi with their music fever as they brought the curtains down on IIT the four-day-long fest. The madness started with 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' and went on to some of the famous songs like 'Dus Bahane', and 'Salaam Namaste’. But it was the energy that the duo bought to the stage, dancing all along on Punjabi dhol beats, that made the entire event come alive. 
 
It sure was one hell of an event, something you just couldn’t afford to miss!

The indie-music scene is India booming and the direct result of that are the music festivals that have been cropping up, not just in the metros but tier-2 and tier-3 cities too. The music is varied; from integrating regional languages to mainstream pop music, to experiments with Indian folk music with western languages and genres, the audience has a lot of options, for every musical palate. 
 
With gigs happening with such fervor, the artists are benefiting; it’s no longer taboo to be a singer-songwriter as young bands from schools and colleges score an opportunity to showcase their talent.

 <keyword id="17256" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Menon">Menon</keyword> defines his music as ‘A range of influences including 80’s pop-rock, musical theater and adult-contemporary songwriters, developed into his unique style of lyric-heavy pop-rock.’ 
 The singer has played in popular music festivals like <keyword id="15277" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="bacardi">Bacardi</keyword> NH7 Weekender, Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, and Mahindra Blues Festival and he is comfortable both with playing in a band and just by himself and his acoustic guitar.

''For someone who released his first EP(Extended Play) ‘Small Victories’ in late 2014, I’m finally ready to do a full-length album called ‘Make it happen’ which will feature 10 songs. In the past two years, I did try to get a label on board for this but I felt that after performing all over the country, I’ll let the people who like my music help me out to do this by myself’’ he says, in an optimistic fervor. 
 
Taking the independent part to the next level literally, Menon believes that is easier than it has ever been to make a good album these days, however, good studios and album production still cost a great deal, wherein comes the crowd funding.

The Campaign 
 Menon had started a campaign on the crowdfunding platform <keyword id="1927134" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Wishberry">Wishberry</keyword>, which had an initial goal of Rs. 2 lakhs to be completed in 30 days, to fulfill costs like Studio Cost (Rs. 90000), Admin fees(Rs. 20000), Mixing (Rs. 50000), Mastering (Rs. 30000) and <keyword id="2426054" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="misc">Misc</keyword>. (Rs. 10000). As he’s hit the goal in under a day, the bigger goal has been set to Rs. 4 lakhs. 
 If he hits the new goal, <keyword id="6373601" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vishal-Dadlani">Vishal Dadlani</keyword>, the frontman of one of the first indie bands, Pentagram will feature on his album for a song called ‘Kindness’. 
 
For the fans, by the fans 
 
The incentive for the fans here is multifold, as Menon has decided to use the funds to give out rewards in forms of a copy of an album, an artsy signed poster, a songbook with all the lyrics, a deluxe edition of the album due to release later in the year, free passes to his gigs and much more. 
 
The rewards increase with the contribution as the campaign allows you to fund the project either in categories, or you can also be the rogue one and contribute any amount without any expectation of a reward. 
 
Menon has already started working on the album and expects it to release by May, this year by when all the contributors can expect to start reaping the rewards that they’ve sown. 
 
Crowdfunding for the win 
 Menon isn’t the first artist to have crowdfunded his album, with artists like <keyword id="1144733" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Parvaaz">Parvaaz</keyword> with their album ‘<keyword id="226613" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Baran">Baran</keyword>’ already doing it in 2014 and <keyword id="33360" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vasudha-Sharma">Vasudha Sharma</keyword>, another indie musician, did it for her album ‘Attuned spirits’ in 2013. 
 
''Crowdfunding is great as it reinstates the fact that they’re people who’re willing to back you up not just with compliments but with real investment, how big or small that might be,’’ says Menon about why he thinks it’s a great idea not just for social causes or businesses but also for creative geniuses to the likes of him.

 The 27-year old says that he’d like to collaborate with more artists and diversify his album further with Pop, Rock, Blues, Funk, R'nB, <keyword id="856224" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="electronica">Electronica</keyword> and Soul elements that he has used to create ''a seamless musical experience that has pushed well past his creative limits.’’

Exclusive: This Indie-musician raised more than Two Lakhs in Six Hours through crowdfunding for his upcoming album

Sonam Sherpa. stood up and played his riffs long before rock music became a fad in India. Now, at a time when more youth anthems are hip-hop or EDM, Sherpa has passed away at a young age of 48— not leaving behind a single album. The lead guitarist of one India’s oldest rock bands, Parikrama, reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest in Kurseong while recording music for an upcoming movie. There are a handful of rock bands in India that can proudly claim that they have been around for 30 years. Parikrama is one of them and Sherpa, along with mates Nitin Malik and Subir Malik, have hung around right from the start⁠— at the dawn of economic liberalisation in India⁠ where not just foreign goods but even culture flowed in freely— and they never really stopped until today. And, all their music is available to be <a href="http://parikrama.com/home.html" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">downloaded freely on their website</a>. The band opened for rock icons Iron Maiden in India, Parikrama's 1996 single ‘But it rained’ featured in <a href="https://rollingstoneindia.com/rs-polls-top-twenty-five-indian-songs/" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">Rolling Stones’ top 25 Indian rock songs</a> of the decade, and they have played thousands of concerts across India.  “I just didn't realise there were metal/rock bands of this quality in India. I was so impressed by their (Parikrama’s) playing and attitude and professionalism and all of the Iron Maiden band and crew watched and listened to their entire set backstage,” <a href="https://ironmaiden.com/news/article/maiden-help-india-band-parikrama-on-their-first-ever-uk-visit-for-an-indian-act" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">Rod Smallwood, the manager of Iron Maiden said</a>.  Sherpa was the most famous among a generation of top-notch artists, who flooded India’s rock music scene in the 1990s and 2000s, from the east and north-eastern part of India. Born in Kalimpong, Sherpa went on to set up a school for aspiring musicians in New Delhi’s Hauz Khaz. Sherpa, or Parikrama for that matter, never became icons in the fullest sense but for the time they remained active, they put out some memorable music and thousands of concerts across the country.  Sherpa was, arguably, one of the most understated stars⁠— in a genre that celebrates outrage— who played the lead guitar for Parikrama, a rock band that was formed in 1991 and peaked in India in the mid-2000s. Iron Maiden even invited the band to perform in the UK. For a band that had painstakingly created a market for a relatively new genre of music in the country, Parikrama never cashed in on the fan following they had built one good at a time. “They are yet to release a full-length album, because they prefer giving out their music for free. They have had millions of downloads from their site and other related pages. They did release a free multimedia CD of their singles and videos in 2001. The band does not have any policies against their music being copied and distributed. They have made their music available for download on their official website,” the band’s Wikipedia page explained. The performances, from <a href="https://io9.gizmodo.com/janelle-monae-brought-her-vision-of-the-future-to-coach-1834022534">Janelle Monae</a> to <a href="https://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/la-et-ms-coachella-review-20190414-story.html">Kacey Musgraves</a>, were out of this world. While great artists usually put on great shows wherever and whenever they perform, the atmosphere at Coachella definitely influences artists to take their performances to the next level. I got the sense that each performer took the responsibility of being on the Coachella bill very seriously. They want to blow the fest's 50,000 attendees - and the celebs, influencers, and industry bigwigs in the VIP section - away. The production value, from Childish Gambino <a href="https://news.avclub.com/childish-gambino-took-coachella-to-church-then-proceed-1834023779">having a runway that stretched deep into the crowd</a> to Ariana Grande <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com.au/ariana-grande-performed-with-nsync-at-coachella-2019-4">bringing out NSYNC</a>, was unmatched by any other festival I've attended. Coachella is really in a class of its own for sheer star power and A-list talent.All that said, I probably won't be attending again. My decision has nothing to do with how the event is organized or the quality of the art and music. It all comes down to how much of a production it is to get there.Lots of what I'm going to say doesn't really apply to the car-owning people of Los Angeles. As someone coming from out of state, however, getting to the festival is a major pain.I had to fly in from New York on a Wednesday two days before the festival and fly out two days after the festival. Flights any closer to the event were prohibitively expensive. That left me sleeping on a friend's couch to save a few bucks.Then, on the day of the festival, I had to drive three hours (including traffic) to get to Indian Wells to pick up my wristband and drive 45 minutes back the other way to Palm Springs to check into my hotel (which was conveniently double or triple its usual price for the weekend). The only hotels closer to the festival at a reasonable price (i.e. $300-$400) looked like they'd seen better days.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5cb4e8faaefeef21f6440eb7-2400/img20190410174812.jpg" border="0" alt="IMG_20190410_174812" data-mce-source="Harrison Jacobs/Business Insider" />Harrison Jacobs/Business InsiderMy chariot for the weekend, a 2018 Ford Fiesta rental car.</div></div></div>To get to the festival from Palm Springs, I bought an $80 pass for the Coachella-approved shuttle. The shuttle itself is well-organized and fairly priced, but there's no getting around the fact that it takes an hour for the shuttle to drive from Palm Springs to the festival grounds. Taking the shuttle on the way home once the music ends was a more trying experience. There's simply no good way to manage 50,000 people exiting an event at once, but the result is that it takes an hour or more to walk with the milling crowd to get on the line for the shuttle home. On the first night of the festival, I started to leave the grounds around 1:00 a.m. and didn't get home until after 3:00 a.m.Skipping the shuttle in favor of Uber or Lyft is an easy way to unnecessarily empty out your bank account. But as someone traveling to the festival with only my partner and no local friends attending, it would be an even more exhausting effort to try to cobble together the camping equipment necessary to make the festival a comfortable experience.I could be one of the few to feel this way. Most of the attendees I met had traveled long distances to attend the festival, from Denver to the U.K. to Australia. One of the first things I noticed while attending was how many different languages I heard attendees speaking. Many of the attendees I met were at Coachella for the third, fifth, or even tenth time.Due to its far-out location in the desert - an admittedly beautiful canvas for a music festival - Coachella tests how much nonsense you are willing to suffer to experience some of the best performances the music industry has to offer. In a new&#xa0;<a href="https://www.aier.org/edi">report</a>&#xa0;on the top destinations for young college graduates, the&#xa0;<a href="https://www.aier.org/">American Institute for Economic Research</a>&#xa0;ranks cities based on economic and quality-of-life factors that are important to young people.
The top three factors include: high density of people with a college degree, a low unemployment rate, and the ability to get around the city without a car.
The other factors included: average salary, cost of rent, competition for jobs,&#xa0;bars and restaurants per 1,000 residents, and racial and ethnic diversity.
Iowa City, Iowa topped the list&#xa0;of most desirable "smallest" cities for educated young people. The report defined young educated people as those 22 to 35 years old with at least a bachelor's degree, and it defined "smallest" cities as those having metro areas with fewer than 250,000 residents.
Here are the top 10 smallest cities for young educated people:

It's also home to&#xa0;the main campus of Texas A&amp;M University and the&#xa0;George Bush Presidential Library.&#xa0;

Touted as the bad boy of Indian startups, thanks to his attitude and theatrics, Yadav has been in the media limelight for all the wrong reasons. First it was the public spat with Shailendra Singh, MD at Sequoia Capital India, and then he got into a brawl with the Times of India group. Following that he publicly resigned, only to join again and dole out all his Rs. 200 Crores worth shares to his employees. 
 
While Yadav may be gone for good, here is a list of the top CEOs across the world who did things they wish never appeared in the media: 
 
1.Naughty on SnapChat is fine, on e-mails? Not

Snapchat’s young co-founder and CEO Evan Spiegel is often looked upon as technology’s next big thing. He brushes aside offers from Mark Zuckerberg and hangs out with the best in the industry. 
 
While that is all fine, a spill of emails from his college life in Stanford left the young entrepreneur embarrassed. After all, which CEO will like his jokes about peeing on girls to be made public? There are mentions to pole dances, rave parties, cocaine and Snapchat’s co-founder Bobby Murphy - "Bobby is really high now." 
 
2.Kick a Dog, get kicked out of your Job

If you’re caught kicking a dog on camera, it sure can cost you your job, even if you are the CEO. 
 
Desmond Hague, CEO of catering specialist Centerplate was forced to resign on grounds of ‘animal cruelty’. He was replaced by Chris Verros as acting CEO. 
 
The company’s official statement asserted, “The decision comes as a result of Hague's personal misconduct involving the mistreatment of an animal in his care.” 
 
3.Oppose gay marriage, see the door

Mozilla’s CEO Brendan Eich was effectively pushed out of the company after a dating website asked for a boycott of the web browser as Eich had offered a sizeable donation to those against gay marriage. 
 
While the donation was back in 2008, the company saw Eich’s actions as a potential threat to its policy of inclusiveness and diversity. The CEO was given the option to seek a sincere apology, stand by his actions and put the company at risk, or resign. He chose the last. 
 
4.Apparel CEO fired after sleaze fest

American Apparel finally got tired of the weird acts of CEO Dov Charney and showed him the door. Some even called him ‘the merchant of sleaze’. 
 
One can’t blame them. After all, would shareholders like to watch a YouTube video with the CEO dancing nude in front of his female colleagues or face repeated allegations of sexual harassment? You guessed it right. 
 
What does he have to say for himself? Hear it from the horse’s mouth, “Sex is inextricably linked to fashion and apparel,” Charney said. “And it has been and always will be. And our clothing is connected to our sexual expression.” 
 
5.Violence is NOT cool. Period.

The only Indian in the list, young Gurbaksh Chahal was apparently living the ‘American Dream’. He formed internet advertising firm BlueLithium, and effectively sold it to Yahoo at a cool $300 million. He then went on to set up Radium One which turned out to be the 9th largest network globally. 
 
However, a security camera footage from August 2013 spilt the beans about his shameful act of beating up his girlfriend 117 times. On April 26th, he was out.
