The move has come at a time when the Indian government is laying stress on financial inclusion and the country is waiting for payments banks to start operations by yearend.

As per <a href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/banking/finance/banking/sbi-plans-fresh-outreach-to-unbanked-rural-india/articleshow/53310349.cms">ET </a>reports, SBI has asked its business correspondents to take their customer service points to remote parts of rural India, so that more and more people can be brought to the bank. 
 
"Business correspondents are an important channel for us for financial inclusion. Whatever we have done through PMJDY (Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana) would not have been possible without a CSP (customer service points) channel. We are putting in all efforts to make this channel stronger and give them all forms of supports that they require," said Rajnish Kumar, MD, National Banking Group at <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/SBI-defends-funding-cluster-bomb-maker/articleshow/52880559.cms">State Bank of India</a>.

In isolated areas where even the traditional branch-based banking is not available feasible, the state-run <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/SBI-vs-Vijay-Mallya/articleshow/53046523.cms">lender </a>has tied up with Indian Oil Corporation so that its Kisan Seva Kendras can be converted into business correspondent outlets.

The company launched 'RADAR Podcasters' programme in 15 global markets, including India. It takes its name and format from 'RADAR', which supports up-and-coming artists. Additionally, Spotify also announced the initial slate of podcasters that will be spotlighted with the RADAR programme. The first three podcasts chosen from India to be a part of this slate, include 'Anurag Minus Verma,' 'Chumma conversations with Satshyaa' and 'Getting Lost with Archit and Shirin: All About Food'. In India, Spotify will focus on a different local language every three months. "For the next round of this initiative, the focus will be on Tamil, one of the fastest growing languages on Spotify in India for both music and podcasts," the company said in a statement. On a quarterly basis, participating markets will give two-three emerging creators a spotlight -- selected from the millions of podcasters using Anchor, Spotify's podcast creation platform. Through this programme, more than 40 creators from around the world will be highlighted, in countries where podcasting continues to grow. Each quarter, Spotify's Podcast team in participating markets will select three up-and-coming creators to spotlight. "We'll focus on creators with shows that exhibit authenticity and inclusivity, give us a reason to keep listening, and educate and entertain," the company added. Spotify launches ‘RADAR Podcasters’ programme for emerging podcasters in India

hina is upgrading and installing radars swiftly along the 3,488-km <keyword id="49399" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Line-of-Actual-Control">Line of Actual Control</keyword> (LAC) even as it is engaged in talks with India to resolve the border dispute. India and China are engaged in an eight-month standoff at LAC in Eastern Ladakh. Both the countries are also engaged in military and diplomatic talks to resolve the border dispute. A total of eight rounds of corps commander level have happened between the militaries of both the countries and the ninth round of talks is to be scheduled very soon to disengage troops. Amid this, apart from aggressively developing infrastructure, China has started installing radars from Ladakh to Sikkim region. Top sources said that at Yecheng a medium-sized building and a watch tower have come up at the facility. The number of radars installed has also increased from three to four which include one JY-9 radar, one JY-26 radar, one HGR-105 radar and one JLC-88B radar. At Pali and Phari Kyarang La, which is opposite Sikkim, the radar site is located two kilometers west of Kyarang La, and comprises four radars. "Infrastructure development has been witnessed at surveillance facility at At Yamdrok Tso which is opposite Central Bhutan," the top source said, Around six km northeast of Tsona is the Cuona electronic warfare station. This site has three radomes, three radars and five support buildings. Infrastructure development has been discerned at the surveillance facility located 2.6 kilometer North West of Tsona Dz Heli base. Sources said that a radome site is located 6 kilometer south west of Kechen Tsho. It comprises radome, control building and antenna masts within a perimeter wall. At Qomo Dz the radar site comprises one radome atop a double-storied building, one control building and one medium building, all enclosed by a perimeter wall. "JY-24 radar is deployed at the site," the source said. China has also created a radar site at Linzhi and Ngiti which is opposite Arunachal Pradesh. "Linzhi/ Ngiti radar is located approximately 21 kilometre north west of Linzhi and comprises two radomes, one radar along with a large shed building connected by a covered corridor," the sources. Further, China is also aggressively developing infrastructure along the Line of Control. China has developed infrastructure near Karakoram Pass and Rechin La, the disputed site at LAC. It is also building permanent integrated habitable infrastructure terming as model villages. Such villages have been noticed across LAC. India has been observing how China is getting aggressive on the border. The Chinese Army is installing and upgrading its radars along the India-China border

<ul><li>India’s largest surveillance satellite so far, the Radar Satellite (<keyword id="997923" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="RISAT">RISAT</keyword>) 2BR1, is set to launch on May 22. </li><li>It is the third in India’s RISAT series of launches. </li><li>This will mean increased vigilance along India’s China and Pakistan borders. </li></ul>India is upgrading its spy satellite system by launching <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/india-to-get-another-eye-in-the-sky-on-may-22/articleshow/69192628.cms">another</a> ‘eye in the sky’ on May 22. The South Asian country’s new addition will be able to pierce through clouds, and capture ‘the real picture’ of its borders, amidst intensifying geopolitical tensions. The Radar Satellite (RISAT) 2BR1 is the latest addition to the RISAT series of India’s defensive satellites. This is an upgrade over its predecessors and adds to India’s surveillance capabilities. On one side, India will be able to monitor the Indian Ocean for Chinese naval ships more efficiently and, on the other, keep an eye on the Arabian Sea for Pakistani warships. Even Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and the Line of Control (LoC) that runs between Pakistan and India will be under surveillance — day and night. RISAT 2BR1 is first of the five planned military satellites that Indian <keyword id="41531" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="space">Space</keyword> Research Organisation (<keyword id="6358064" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="isro">ISRO</keyword>) has planned for 2019. This is an impressive record for ISRO, which launches one or two military satellites a year. Piercing the Clouds RISAT 1 and RISAT 2 are strong surveillance satellites in their own right. But RISAT 2BR1’s X Band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) can pierce through the clouds, and has a resolution of up to one meter. Increased resolution means, it can decipher between different objects on the ground provided they’re at least a meter apart. RISAT 2, launched in 2009, was India’s first reconnaissance satellite, also known as spy or intelligence satellites. The original X Band SAR on board was a military grade sensor radar from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). It was actually launched before RISAT 1, <a href="https://www.isro.gov.in/Spacecraft/risat-1">officially</a> an agricultural satellite, in lieu of the 2009 Mumbai terror attacks which called for increased vigilance along the borders. Striking resolution Images from RISAT 2 are known to have played a role in <a href="https://m.economictimes.com/news/science/indias-eyes-in-the-skies-gave-images-for-surgical-strikes/articleshow/54598628.cms">conducting</a> the surgical strikes along India’s LoC in 2016, as well as the 2019 Balakot <a href="https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/air-strikes-hit-balakot-in-pakistan-initial-assessment-100-hit-sources/article26373318.ece">airstrike</a>. The indigenously manufactured X Band SAR on RISAT 2BR1 uses the motion of the radar’s antenna to scan over the area where the target is assigned. So, rather than use conventional beam scanning to capture an image, X Band SAR uses radar pulse calculations to create a spatial resolution. Larger the aperture, or longer that radar pulses take to return, the higher the image resolution. The RISAT 2BR1 will launch from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh abroad one of the variants of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).

India’s largest ever ‘eye in the sky’ will take on its neighbours

 The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched a 436 kg rocket into the low-earth orbit that will collect data and relay them to the ground station <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/isros-pslv-c45-places-drdo-intelligence-satellite-emisat-in-orbit-mission-continues/articleshow/68664357.cms">for the next six months</a>.Until now, India used airplanes for such warnings. About 47 seconds after the launch, the EMISAT was ejected at an altitude of nearly 753 km. After nearly one and a half hour of rocket blast, the 28 foreign satellites will be ejected. The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) launched today is a four-stage engine expendable rocket with alternating solid and liquid fuel. For the first time, ISRO allowed common people to witness the launch. "It is a special mission for us. We will be using a PSLV rocket with four strap-on motors. Further, for the first time we will be trying to orbit the rocket at three different altitudes," ISRO Chairman K. Sivan had earlier told IANS. India now has an intelligence satellite in space that will watch ‘enemy radars’

<ul><li>India's current Prime Minister has been repeatedly invoking the Balakot air strike into his campaign speeches to woo voters. </li><li>Modi's most recent attempt was a tweet where he shares an anecdote that he suggested that India should go ahead with the strike despite expert concerns it was cloudy saying, "Clouds could actually help our planes escape the radars." </li><li>Despite many incursions, the Election Commission issued a clean chit to Modi — not once but twice. </li></ul>Bidding on the nationalist sentiment in India, the Indian Prime Minister — <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> — just risked embarrassing himself in order to impress his voter base. The Bharatiya Janata Party's account on Twitter published a statement attributed to the prime minister claiming, "Clouds could actually help our planes escape the radars." <div type="ExtQuote" text="The weather was not good on the day of Airstrikes.  The Tweet was deleted soon after. But during an interview with News Nation on National Technology Day, Modi made some similar statements admitting, "I said, ‘it's OK, there are clouds go ahead'.  Experts are now saying that if radars weren't able to see through clouds, planes wouldn't be able to function in the day-to-day. In fact, conventional radars have been able to detect aircraft movement at least since 1946. This is a risk to India’s fighter pilots as it exposes their movement. However, the users are defending their actions by saying that the positions of IAF jets are not secret. According to the one of the people tweeting out positions, Manu Gomez, Indian Air Force officials have overlooked an important security measure. Gomez told <a href="https://thelede.co.in/can-iaf-prevent-abhinandans/">the Lede</a>, “Military planes can use an encrypted mode and we will not be able to see it, they just have to change the mode of the transponder”. The fix seems obvious but may not have been carried out yet. At the moment, there is the only plane flying in Pakistan's air space at the moment, according to Flight Radar, however its identity seems to be encrypted.

A free Swedish flight tracking site is revealing crucial military movements along the Kashmir border

Keeping such incidents in mind, <keyword id="71" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prime-Minister">Prime Minister</keyword> <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> will get a safe and secure aircraft as new 'Desi Air Force One' is set to be cleared soon.
 His aircraft will be equipped with advanced self-protection suites to jam and will beat hostile incoming missiles in the sky and encrypted <keyword id="6358065" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Satellite">satellite</keyword> communication facilities. 

	Some of its features would be- robust defence systems, including 'radar warning receivers'. It will sound an alert if a hostile radar 'paints' the aircraft before letting loose missiles.
 

	It would also have a better missile-approach warning systems. Moreover, its advanced electronic counter-measures on board will be able to jam enemy radars, along with defence systems geared to shoot metal chaff or flares to throw off-track radar.
 The Prime Minister, President <keyword id="6359124" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pranab-Mukherjee">Pranab Mukherjee</keyword> and other VVIPs will travel in such aircrafts for extra long-haul overseas flights. Sources told Economic Times, the defence acquisitions council, chaired by <keyword id="6366153" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Defence-Minister">Defence Minister</keyword> <keyword id="6363133" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Manohar-Parrikar">Manohar Parrikar</keyword>, will take up the purchase of two <keyword id="6357957" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Boeing">Boeing</keyword> 777-300 (extended range) aircrafts. They will be acquired from <keyword id="2573" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Air-India">Air India</keyword> which has many such relatively new wide-bodied planes, especially configured for VVIPs travel and their safety. 

	These aircrafts will be used in place of ageing Boeing 747 'Jumbo Jets' under 'Air India One'.
 

	"These old aircraft do not have anti-missile defence systems, which the SPG holds is necessary. The decision was taken after a committee of secretaries from top ministries and aviation experts examined the matter," a source told the financial daily.
 Last year when <keyword id="117766" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Malaysia-Airlines">Malaysia Airlines</keyword> flight MH17 was shot down, Modi's 747-400 aircraft was using a nearby air corridor at the same time to return to New Delhi from <keyword id="12970" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Frankfurt">Frankfurt</keyword>. The two modified 777-300 (ER) aircraft will be based with the <keyword id="2848376" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Air-HQ-Communication-Squadron">Air HQ Communication Squadron</keyword> at Palam. India has been basing its Su-30MKIs in the northern part of the country to counter China's deployments of J-20s, which struggle to take off in the high altitudes near Tibet, Zee News reported.The Su-30MKI represents a new and effective Russian jet with an advanced array of radars that Justin Bronk, an air combat expert at the Royal United Services Institute told Business Insider could probably spot the J-20."It is entirely possible that the Su-30MKI can pick up track information on J-20 from quite long ranges," Bronk said. In a major push to induct indigenously developed weapon systems, the <keyword id="15141" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="indian-air-force" source="Orion">Indian Air Force</keyword> has moved a proposal worth over Rs 1,400 crore to the government for acquiring <keyword id="7766600" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rudram" source="Orion">Rudram</keyword> next-generation anti-radiation missiles (NGARM) to search and destroy enemy radar locations, informed defence officials. "A proposal for acquisition of advanced missiles developed by the <keyword id="152819" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="defence-research-and-development-organisation" source="Orion">Defence Research and Development Organisation</keyword> is with the <keyword id="43909" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="defence-ministry" source="Orion">Defence Ministry</keyword> and a high-level meeting would soon be taking a call on it," defence officials told <keyword id="21936" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ani" source="Orion">ANI</keyword>. The next-generation anti-radiation missiles have already been tested by the Indian Air Force from its Sukhoi-30 fighter aircraft fleet and can destroy enemy radar locations during conflicts, they said. The destruction of radar systems can help the Indian Air Force to strike targets without detection, the officials said. The NGARM can be fired from IAF fighters like the Sukhoi-30 and the Mirage-2000. It is accurate and has been developed with the capability to even track a radar system even if it is not operating. NGARM is India's first indigenously developed anti-radiation missile that has a speed of <keyword id="1548525" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="mach" source="Orion">Mach</keyword> two or twice the speed of sound. The tactical, air-to-surface anti-radiation missile is equipped with a passive homing head that tracks sources of radiation of a wide range of frequencies. It can lock into a target not only before launch but also after it has been launched. The NGARM induction would be a big boost for the Indian Air Force as it would help the force prepare for future wars with indigenous weapon systems. Considering a shrinking economy and <keyword id="6354810" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="defense">defense</keyword> spending, it's unclear now if Russia will ever produce the Su-57 in reasonable quantities.Business Insider asked a senior scientist working on stealth aircraft how to evaluate the plane's stealth, and the results were not good.Take a look at the pictures below and see if you can spot what's wrong:The scientist, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of stealth work, pointed out six major problems from the pictures.First, take a look at the seams between the flaps on the aircraft - they're big. The F-35 and F-22 share a smooth, sloped look.It's likely Russia doesn't have the machining technology to produce such a surface. The actual nose of the Su-57 looks bolted on with noticeable rivets.&#xa0;Finally, take a look at the underside of the Su-57 - it has rivets and sharp edges everywhere. "If nothing else convinces that no effort at [stealth] was attempted, this is the clincher," said the scientist.&#xa0;<h2>Russia didn't even try at stealth, but that's not their purpose</h2><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>As the scientist pointed out, Russia didn't even appear to seriously try to make a stealth aircraft. The Su-57 takes certain measures, like storing weapons internally, that improve the stealth, but it's leaps and bounds from a US or even Chinese effort.This highlights the true purpose of Russia's new fighter - not to evade radar itself, but to kill US stealth jets like the F-35 and F-22.&#xa0;The Su-57 will feature side mounted radars along its nose, an infrared search and track radar up front, and additional radars in front and back, as well as on the wings.&#xa0;As <a href="http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/20434/no-the-su-57-isnt-junk-six-features-we-like-on-russias-new-fighter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Drive's Tyler Rogoway points out</a>, the side-mounted radars on the Su-57 allow it to excel at a tactic called "beaming" that can trick the radars on US stealth jets. <ul><li>The <keyword id="6876070" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="VC-11184">VC 11184</keyword> is India’s <keyword id="6876071" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="first-missile-tracking-ship">first missile tracking ship</keyword>, which will also be the first dedicated resource in Phase-II of India’s ballistic missile defence.</li><li>The project has cost around ₹7.5 billion ($100 million) so far. </li><li>With this ship, India will join the likes of the Russia and China, as one of the few countries will advanced ocean capabilities.</li></ul>Putting India in the elite club of countries that are equipped with sophisticated ocean surveillance ship, the VC 11184 is <a href="https://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/indias-first-missile-tracking-ship-is-readying-for-sea-trials/article24930523.ece">ready for sea trials</a>. There are only four other countries - the US, Russia, China, and France - that have have similar vessels in their arsenal. Set to go in the first week of October, <keyword id="435692" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hindustan-Shipyard-Limited">Hindustan Shipyard Limited</keyword> (HSL) will launch the ship off the coast of <keyword id="60510" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Visakhapatnam">Visakhapatnam</keyword>. This is also where the Ship Building Centre is currently working on the nuclear-powered submarine, INS Arihant. The VC 11184 is the first of its kind for the Indian Navy as a part of the country’s strategic weapons programme aimed at strengthening the country’s defences. It will also be the first ship to be a dedicated resource for Phase-II of India’s ballistic missile defence. The name may sound a little bland, but the ship will be renamed once it’s officially inducted into the Indian navy. As of now, the VC11184 is being built for the <keyword id="145763" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Technical-Research-Organisation">National Technical Research Organisation</keyword> (NTRO). This technical intelligence agency works directly with the Prime Minister’s Office and the National Security Advisor. From port to starboard There isn’t a lot to say about the VC 11184 since it’s a ‘topmost secret project’ entailing strict confidentiality but the Hindu does report that the project has cost a total ₹7.5 billion ($100 million) so far. Powered by two diesel engines, the VC11184 can carry a crew of 300 and has a large deck which can accommodate a helicopter landing. Basin trials were already successful a while ago. The ship’s also equipped with hi-tech gadgets and communication equipment. The objectives of the VC11184 are two-fold. One, track missiles using the two sensors on-board, the X-Band AESA primary radar and S-Band AESA secondary radar. And, two, gather electronic intelligence. Between those two tasks, the VC1184 will be the most advanced tracking and surveillance ship in India’s arsenal.

India’s first missile tracking ship is ready to hit high seas

Bengaluru, The <keyword id="6355100" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Navy">Indian Navy</keyword> has received three "made in <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>" <keyword id="6706498" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Advanced-Light-Helicopters">advanced light helicopters</keyword>, customised for coastal security, from the <keyword id="86569" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hindustan-Aeronautics-Limited">Hindustan Aeronautics Limited</keyword> (HAL) on Friday. The Mark-III Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) is meant for coastal security. Out of the 16 Mk-III helicopters, HAL delivered three to Indian <keyword id="42407" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Navy">Navy</keyword> Chief Admiral Karambir Singh at Aero India. The helicopters are fully loaded multi mission helicopter is fitted with an array of advanced sensors. This will augment the Navy's responsibility for coastal security placed on it by the government after 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks that claimed the lives of 166 people and left 300 others injured. The helicopter features a full glass cockpit with HAL's Integrated Architecture Display System (IADS), more powerful "Shakti" (Safran Ardiden 1H1) <keyword id="240487" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="engines">engines</keyword>, and a host of new systems. The Indian Navy had ordered 16 Mk-III to supplement its ageing and depleting fleet of Alouettes (Chetaks) - from HAL. These helicopters have come up with latest-generation avionics and role equipment. It is primarily meant for use in a shore-based role. The Mk-III ALH are also equipped with an indigenous low frequency dunking sonar (LFDS) developed by Kochi-based Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory. The sonar's units are being produced by state-owned <keyword id="91484" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharat-Electronics-Limited">Bharat Electronics Limited</keyword> with a host of sub-vendors downstream. The aircraft has also a nose-mounted surveillance radar with 270-degree coverage that can detect, classify and track multiple marine targets. It also has synthetic-aperture radar, inverse synthetic-aperture radar, and moving target indication classification functions.
