Thanks to social media and platforms like <keyword id="28120" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="linkedin">LinkedIn</keyword>, looking for a job has never been easier. While the online platform has its own challenges, its interesting to see how people approach job seeking in the era of internet. When Indian professionals were asked about their experience on the job and recent job switchers were asked about their experience during their most recent move between companies, the results were interesting, to say the least. LinkedIn surveyed 539 respondents from two different populations of India in April 2017 and came out with a report that highlighted what drives people looking for jobs on the platform.

Key findings from this report include: Most Indian professionals want to hear about new job opportunities - Ninety-one percent (91%) of Indian professionals are interested in hearing about job opportunities, and 46% ‘feel flattered’ when they hear from recruiters. This trend continues from last year wherein 90% Indian professionals expressed that they are interested in hearing about new jobs. Compensation remains the main reason why people switch job - Higher compensation (45%) remains the top reason why people are likely to change their jobs. Additionally, 37% showed interest in knowing the salary range during the interview process. Intrinsic motivators also remain important, with 40% of professionals stating that better skills and interest fit, and 32% of professionals stating that better growth opportunities, will make them switch jobs.

 Indian professionals are motivated by a sense of purpose - Fifty five percent (55%) of Indian professionals are motivated to pursue opportunities that match both their personal and professional interests. Further, 52% are interested in learning about the perks and benefits that come with the role and 45% want to work for a company they have always admired. A high percentage of professionals use social media and digital platforms to look up job opportunities - Company websites (48%) and professional networks such as LinkedIn (44%) are the most preferred platforms for Indian professionals to research new opportunities before applying. While preparing for an interview, 49% of candidates visit company websites, 47% use search engines, and 35% use professional networks such as LinkedIn to learn about the company and its employees, and the position being offered. Social media is used by 63% of professionals to follow companies and stay aware of jobs.

 Candidates prefer a more ‘personalised’ approach in the recruitment process - Candidates want to have more dialogue with companies. India's largest e-retailer <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> has rearranged the top-level roles in its core marketplace business, so that it can see a boost in its sales and improve its seller ecosystem.

Having worked with several FMCG giants like HUL and Marico, Subandh has over a decade of experience in sales and marketing. In his new role, he is expected to help boost sales for multiple categories, especially mobiles and appliances, which has been a major growth area for Flipkart and is currently under competition with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Tiger-global-reduced-Amazon-stake/articleshow/52308087.cms">arch rival Amazon</a>. 
 
As per the new arrangement, Subandh would have Amit Bansal (head of large appliances), Rishi Vasudev (head of fashion retail) and Adarsh Menon (head of electronics and automobiles) reporting him.

Flipkart Fashion launched ‘India Ka Fashion Capital’ (IKFC) campaign almost two years ago. With their latest ad with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Kidults, we get behind-the-scenes of the campaign to find out how it was all put together. While the first three ads under this campaign intended to establish Flipkart as the go-to-fashion platform for users, this edition has been built around the theme ‘Don’t Stress, Karo Impress.’ It addresses the stressors that consumers face while shopping online for apparel and accessories. How Flipkart used Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Kidults to get the next phase of consumers onto its platform

<ul><li>Amazon and Flipkart accounted for 90% of the e-tailer market share during the Great Indian Festival and the <keyword id="3093683" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Big-Billion-Days-sale">Big Billion Days sale</keyword>.</li><li>Amazon India claims it saw the highest sales across all online shopping platforms, according to a Neilsen report.</li><li>Flipkart market share during the sale season was higher than Amazon at 60-62% as per a Redseer report.</li></ul>The festive season sales split the e-tailer market share between Amazon India and Flipkart. Their combined market share was 90% in terms of merchandise volume, with Flipkart leading at 60-62% and Amazon India coming in at 28-30%. Flipkart and Amazon achieved sold a record ₹19,000 crore of goods in 2019 -- a growth of 30% over the previous year, according to a Redseer report. Where Flipkart leads in volume, Amazon claims to have the highest sale transactions across all online shopping platforms, according to a Neilsen report. Great Indian Festival "The first wave of the Great Indian Festival was our biggest celebration ever with Amazon.in — witnessing highest share of transacting customers and purchases across all marketplaces in India," said Amit Agarwal, senior vice president and country head of Amazon India. The company states that customers from 99.4% of India’s postal codes placed an order during the sale. On the busiest day of the sale more than 600 flights were in transit delivering Amazon products. Despite the economic slowdown, Amazon claims that there was growth in customers availing credit options on the site. There were 1.5 times as many customers opting for EMIs during this year’s sale as compared to last year. Every one in two customers was availing a credit option was doing so for the first time, doubling the amount of new-to-credit customers. The fashion category brought in the most amount of new customers for Amazon. More than 1 million fashion items were sold within the first 24 hours of the sale going live. Overall, nearly 15,000 sellers on Amazon India saw their sales double and thousands of them recorded their highest sales ever during the first day of the Great Indian Festival. Big Billion Days Smartphone sales were the secret to Flipkart dominating the market share, according to the Redseer report. The company claims that this has been the biggest festive season for the mobiles category on their platform. More 20 different smartphone sold more than 100,000 units each during the Big Billion Days sale. Where mobile phone sales contributed to volume, the fashion category brought in new customers. It saw a 70% growth in sales over last year and brought in 40% of the new users that logged onto Flipkart. Overall, Flipkart clocked in 70 billion views across all categories. Amazon and Flipkart took 90% market share during the Great Indian Festival and Big Billion Days sale

India’s ecommerce giant <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> is in acquiring mode. The intention is to be an online market where each and everything under the sun will be available for grab. And how to achieve so? 
 
Well, as per a news report in The Economic Times, Flipkart is scouting for more mobile-focused companies to acquire this year, both for their technology and employees, as it looks to build capabilities that it expects will give it an edge over rivals. 
 "Overall, we feel that the startup ecosystem is growing very rapidly and most innovation is on the mobile platform, so we are very actively looking at every opportunity for talent purposes," Mukesh Bansal, head of Flipkart's commerce platform and chief executive of its fashion arm <keyword id="319719" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Myntra">Myntra</keyword> told the ET. 
 As per the ET report, Flipkart has bought mobile marketing automation platform Appiterate for an undisclosed sum last month. In March, it acquired mobile ad network AdIQuity, and in January, bought a stake in auctions startup <keyword id="2849071" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="WeHive-Technologies">WeHive Technologies</keyword>. 
 
Sachin Bansal, group CEO of Flipkart and the head of its newly carved advertising business, told the financial daily, the company will begin advertising on Myntra's mobile app in a few months. "We are thinking of native and video advertising on the mobile and are experimenting with that," he said. "Banners and all don't work well on mobile."

If yours is a mobile focused company, Flipkart may acquire it

But, that comes with a ‘no return’ policy. This means if the customers want to opt for additional discounts, they will have to give up on the benefits of free returns and exchanges for the products they ordered. In order to avail the extra discount, the buyer has to go for ‘non-returnable’ option while making the purchase. The additional discount on the products is up to 4%, if the buyer chooses to not return the product. The online fashion store is reportedly <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/services/retail/myntra-to-offer-more-discounts-on-promise-of-no-return/articleshow/69034265.cms?utm_source=ETTopNews&amp;utm_medium=HPTN&amp;utm_campaign=AL1&amp;utm_content=23">exercising the scheme</a> to cut down on the large number of returns on the ordered items. According to a consulting firm tailing the retail industry in India, the e-commerce stores get nearly 15%-20% of returns on purchased items. This may be due to the fact that the returns are easy and non chargeable, it added. This scheme is valid on collection under lifestyle, home decor and electronics among others. However, the additional discount varies from product to product. Myntra is boosting its customer experience with lucrative offers, Amar Nagaram, heading Myntra, Jabong reportedly said. We keep on experimenting new features, keeping in mind the performance, he added According to an ET report, the move will benefit both the company and its customers since some measure of the amount saved on reverse logistics will go to its customers. However, the scheme has not been floated by Flipkart or its other subsidiary Jabong. Myntra is luring its customers with additional discounts — but there’s a catch

In what is being termed as the biggest acquisition ever in the Indian e-commerce space, online retailer <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> has bought out fashion e-tailer <keyword id="319719" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Myntra">Myntra</keyword>.com. The move is being seen as a response to counter its fast-growing rival <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>. 
 
Although it was not officially confirmed, analysts’ speculations pegged the buyout at over $300 million. 
 
However, both companies will work independently for now and there is no immediate plan to merge their fashion businesses. 
 
As per the deal, Myntra CEO Mukesh Bansal will join Flipkart’s board and will head the fashion vertical at both Flipkart and Myntra. While Myntra employees will ‘remain in current positions,’ they will also be offered stock options in Flipkart. 
 Flipkart co-founder <keyword id="225032" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sachin-Bansal">Sachin Bansal</keyword> insisted that it was a ‘completely different acquisition story’ as it was not ‘driven by distress.’ The heads of both the companies said they were scripting “one of the largest e-commerce stories.” 
 
According to Mukesh Bansal, Myntra alone holds 30% of the market share and together, both the companies will account for 50% of the online fashion market. “We hope to take this figure to about 60-70% in the long term,” he said. 
 
Sachin Bansal further said that Flipkart would invest $100 million in its own fashion vertical in the near future.

In May, Flipkart <a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/flipkart-puts-focus-back-on-private-labels-launches-in-house-sports-brand-119053000338_1.html">launched</a> an in-house sports brand called Adrenex. The brand has over 200 products ranging from sports accessories like cricket or tennis balls to gym equipment. These private labels also been raking in revenue for the company. According to <a href="https://tech.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/internet/non-fashion-private-labels-account-for-13-of-flipkarts-gmv/67187116">reports</a>, six non-fashion private label brands from Flipkart account for 13% of its Gross Merchandise Volume. In 2018, the number of customers who opted for private labels also grew 17-fold, as per the report.
