<ul><li>The Indian government is reportedly working on guidelines for adoption of a common charger in the country.</li><li>Companies will be required to offer USB Type-C ports for devices like phones, laptops, tablets, Bluetooth earphones and other portable devices.</li><li>The EU had passed similar rules earlier this year, mandating all companies to offer a USB Type-C port in their devices.</li></ul>The <keyword id="6355110" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="european-union" source="Orion">European Union</keyword> (EU) earlier this year announced new rules around chargers, mandating companies to offer a common charger for all small devices such as smartphones and tablets in a bid to reduce electronic waste. According to a PTI report, the Indian government is exploring the adoption of similar rules. The government has called for a meeting on August 17 to discuss the rules with smartphone makers and other industry organisations. The EU had announced that all small electronics that can be charged should offer a USB Type-C port from 2024. <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> is expected to roll out similar rules for devices like smartphones, tablets, laptops, Bluetooth earphones, Bluetooth speakers and more. "If companies can serve in Europe and the US, why cannot they do it in India? Portable electronic devices like smartphones and tablets should have a common charger," an official told PTI. The official added that the government is worried that once the EU rules come into force, such products may be dumped in India. Apple uses its proprietary Lightning connector in devices like iPhones, AirPods and more. It will face the biggest impact of the new rules as it is one of the few companies that does not offer a USB Type-C port with all of their devices. Some of the laptop makers such as Dell, HP and Asus will also have to change the charger offered with their affordable devices. Most of the laptops from these companies already have a USB Type-C port so adopting this for their affordable laptops should not be an issue. After EU, India wants companies to offer a common charger for all devices

The partnership will see the three companies leverage Castrol’s existing auto service network, thereby giving Reliance a presence across the electric charging network, Castrol another revenue stream and allow MG Motor car owners to charge their cars. Jio-bp and Castrol will also work together to expand the oil company’s auto service network to charge four-wheeler EVs, which will likely require facility upgrades. This will also allow Castrol an opportunity to service electric cars. “The partnership is in line with Jio-bp and MG Motor's commitment to provide vast and reliable charging infrastructure to electric car customers and accelerating EV adoption in India,” the joint statement issued by Jio-bp and MG Motor said. Reliance, MG Motor and Castrol team up to build electric charging infrastructure across India

The officials have considered exempting these devices from the list as the manufacturers have raised concerns about input costs which will lead to an increase in the prices of the devices. The senior Indian official said, “For mobiles and electronics, USB Type-C port has been made mandatory, the industry players are also on board, but for feature phones, wearables and hearables, stakeholders have said that costs would increase.” In the list of hearables that may be exempted from the universal charging port mandate, Apple's AirPods could be exempted. Even though the Indian government is following the European Union (EU) in making USB-C charging ports compulsory for all devices, it is still not confirmed whether it will follow in the same footsteps to make Apple AirPods switch to the USB-C port. This inspiration for adapting a single charger rule is a great initiative to reduce the hassle of carrying different chargers for all electronic devices- phones, cameras, laptops, wearables, and more. The mandate can also help reduce the e-waste produced by different chargers. The iPhone 15 will be available in India faster than its predecessors and it is coming with a Type-C port

Some of the big companies in India are keen on buying a team in the Indian Premier League (<keyword id="6354312" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="IPL">IPL</keyword>) after the <keyword id="6354977" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword> banned Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and <keyword id="13802" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Rajasthan-Royals">Rajasthan Royals</keyword> (RR) on Tuesday from participating in the game. 

	This move provides room for the induction of two more teams in the next edition of IPL, reported ToI.
 

	The IPL is the richest of the world's Twenty20 cricket leagues.
 The expected list of names are: Gautam Adani, <keyword id="2742230" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Adani-Group-chairman">Adani group chairman</keyword>, <keyword id="52673" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="harsh-goenka">Harsh Goenka</keyword>, RPG group chairman, Sajjan Jindal, chairman JSW, <keyword id="7025" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Venugopal-Dhoot">Venugopal Dhoot</keyword>, Videocon group chairman, besides others such as Prasad Potluri of South-based PVP Ventures and the Munjals of Hero group. Confirming the development Harsh Goenka told ToI, that honour was restored to the gentleman's game with corruption getting clean bowled by the apex court’s verdict. "The league remains an interesting investment opportunity. If <keyword id="6354756" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="BCCI">BCCI</keyword> auctions a franchise, I will consider it only if the valuations are considerable." 

	Moreover, the valuations of the IPL teams have come down considerably due to a series of corruption. According to experts, the new teams are likely to be bought for less than $100 million.
 Venugopal Dhoot, one of the key sponsors of Mukesh Ambani-owned <keyword id="13880" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Mumbai-Indians">Mumbai Indians</keyword>, is also keen on buying a team. "We will definitely look at bidding for an IPL franchise as and when BCCI calls for bid. We spend crores in branding exercise and owning an IPL team would be a great idea," he said. 

	The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) might want to revive the Pune and Kochi teams. However, launching a new team for Ahmedabad may not be ruled out, according to sources. 
 

	In that case Gautam Adani may be a key contender to buy the Ahmedabad team as the billionaire businessman had once dreamt of owning an IPL team for his home state. 
 "The idea of having an Ahmedabad team would be great as it would draw lots of interest from corporates for being the home state of Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword>," said an industry leader. 

	Sajjan Jindal is another top contender to own an IPL team. "Cricket is the number one sport in our country so there is an idea to acquire a team... an IPL team. But, I cannot comment which team would it be," Jindal, JSW group chairman said earlier this month.
 He did not confirm or deny if he wanted to buy <keyword id="12643" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Royal-Challengers">Royal Challengers</keyword> Bangalore (RCB), owned by liquor baron <keyword id="14678" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Vijay-Mallya">Vijay Mallya</keyword>. 

	JSW Sports, a JSW Group owned firm, is the owner of Bengaluru FC, one of the I-league teams led by Indian football team's captain Sunil Chhetri.

OP: ‘Talking of batteries and the fact that we can charge the phone to 50% in 30 minutes because of the fast-charging technology shows that moving ahead fast is the only way for us.’ 
 
RP: ‘Well, I love the fact that the cable charger gives me two hours of HD video playback after just 10mins of charging.’ This neta then added that though his phone had a slight battery advantage (2600mAh against 2550mAh), but it was the Exynos 7420 64-bit octa core with 3 GB RAM that made the battery perform so well. He said, ‘We are like the processors of these phones. The man from the ruling party then clarified that the government was actively pursuing the matter with eyes both in front as well as at the back of the head. As a user I am happier.’ 
 
OP: ‘So am I. I mean our MPs too have businesses and many want to set up new ones and so this is great news. By the way, our government too favours steps that encourage investment.’

I was still having a great time at Google and never felt like I was sacrificing my quality of life.I invested over $75,000 yearly into the tax-advantaged accounts and even more in my regular stockbroker accounts.<h2>I could've retired to my home country, India, by 26</h2>By 2020, at age 26, I knew that I could retire and move home to India if I wanted to.There's a rule of thumb in the FIRE community — which stands for financial independence, retire early — that you can retire when you're spending less than 4% of your net investments each year, or 3% if you're very young. I had over $500,000 invested, enough to afford to move using that rule. However, I had just started dating my future wife, an AI scientist at Google X who was American. On the back of this success, I became increasingly obsessed with finance, trading, and investing.In June 2020, a JPMorgan recruiter offered me an opportunity to lead applied AI projects across the firm. I took the job, as I was excited to learn as much as possible about finance. My total compensation also doubled.Even as my income and net worth increased, I still wasn't living extravagantly, other than eating out for every meal because I didn't want to cook. My only possessions were clothes, a mattress, a bed, and a 65-inch TV.<h2>Working remotely meant my wife and I could travel</h2>In 2020, after months of lockdowns, my wife and I were tired of being trapped in our apartments. I knew I could safely retire and live anywhere since I spent only 2% of my investments a year.<h2>I thought I'd be bored as a retiree</h2>I thought about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I considered not working and traveling full time, but that would be boring.I was passionate about working on AI. This is the most exciting time to be working in this field, and I believe AI will have more impact in the next decade than anything else. I wanted to continue participating in it but do it on my terms.So I left JPMorgan in August 2023 at age 29 and cofounded an AI startup with some friends. Here, an external battery can be used to provide direct current and increase the charging rate. The off-board charger can help provide alternating current to the onboard charging system alternating current-to-direct current converter, which will then be utilised to charge the battery. It can help reduce the size and cost of the external charger. Apple’s latest patent drops a hint at how its electric car may get charged

New Delhi, May 4 () From laptops to apparels, people logged on to e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Paytm Mall and Snapdeal on Monday to place orders for non-essential items but lack of adequate manpower amid the lockdown could delay deliveries, according to industry executives. E-commerce companies have been permitted to sell all items in Orange and Green Zones starting from Monday, the first day of the third phase of the nationwide lockdown that began on March 25. Depending on the number of cases of coronavirus infections, areas have been divided into Red, Orange and Green Zones. In the Red Zones, which include Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad, the companies can ship only essential items like grocery, medicines and healthcare products. However, shortage of staff at warehouses and for logistics could result in delays in deliveries of items, as per the executives. An Amazon India spokesperson said the company saw demand for various kinds of smart devices, products related to electrical appliances, clothes and work from home enablers, among others. "Our consumers in Orange/ Green zones are buying other priority products that they needed the most. Thousands of sellers have received orders for the first time since the lockdown began in March and we are hopeful that this will help jumpstart the livelihood of many small sellers and their workforce," the spokesperson said. The company reiterated its demand that the list of priority products be expanded for customers in the Red Zone as well in order to revive economic activity while serving urgent needs and ensuring citizen safety in a high-risk area. Under the first and second phase of the nationwide lockdown between March 25 and May 3, the government only allowed delivery of essential goods, including grocery, pharmaceuticals and healthcare products, through e-commerce platforms.
