The deal value has not been revealed. With this acquisition, InCred will enter the wealth-tech segment with the launch of InCred Money. It will be led by Orowealth’s co-founder <keyword id="14427300" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vijay-kuppa" source="Orion">Vijay Kuppa</keyword>. InCred has two other businesses – InCred Finance, a new-age non-banking finance corporation (NBFC) focused on lending, and InCred Capital, an institutional, wealth and asset management platform. “In the next decade, the democratization of investment opportunities covering the mass affluent and retail segments will be driven by digital platforms that unlock access to non-traditional assets for investors as well as their advisors,” said <keyword id="117981" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bhupinder-singh" source="Orion">Bhupinder Singh</keyword>, founder and group CEO of InCred Group. The acquisition of Orowealth adds over ₹1,100 crore to the assets under management (AUM) of the InCred Group – which itself has an AUM of ₹15,000 crore (before the acquisition). The company also said it has a team of over 100 private bankers and caters to the high networth and ultra-high networth segments. Orowealth’s acquisition now allows it to cater to the retail and mass-affluent space. “With the launch of the InCred Money platform, we are committed to offering best-in-class products to these rapidly evolving customer segments in keeping with our vision to meet the financial needs of every Indian family,” Singh added. InCred Money will be targeted at customers, and also serve as a platform for other businesses which want to serve customers. As far as the platform services are concerned, InCred Money plans to integrate a network of Independent Financial Advisors (IFA) across the country. “There is a growing demand for non-traditional investment assets from mass affluent and retail investors due to rising income levels and greater awareness. We are addressing this massive demand by putting together a suite of carefully curated products and solutions,” said Vijay Kuppa, co-founder, Orowealth and now the CEO of InCred Money. Orowealth offered users options to invest in bonds, mutual funds, peer-to-peer loans, invoice discounting, fractional real estate and more. InCred Capital acquires alternate asset advisory firm Orowealth

Earlier today, RBIs MPC (Monetary Policy Committee) decided to leave the <keyword id="20094323" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="repo-rate" source="keywords">repo rate</keyword> unchanged at 6.5%, while changing the policy stance toward neutral. The aim, as <keyword id="19899808" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="RBI" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="RBI" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="RBI">RBI</keyword> maintained, was to strike a balance between taming domestic <keyword id="19895000" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="inflation" source="keywords">inflation</keyword> and maintaining target growth. A neutral stance gives the RBI the flexibility to adjust <keyword id="19950650" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="interest-rates" source="keywords">interest rates</keyword> based on the direction of inflation, as opposed to its previous stand of withdrawing accommodation, which eliminates any possibility of rate cuts. While a change of stance doesn’t necessarily mean a cut should follow, most experts view this as a prelude to a possible rate cut in December this year, or even February next year. Says Deepak Ramaraju, Senior Fund Manager, Shriram AMC, "The RBI stance has changed to neutral, indicating that its primary focus is to balance growth and inflation. Growth has been resilient and given the short-term pressure on inflation, RBI may continue to hold interest rates unchanged in Q3 FY 2025. Based on inflation moderating below 4.5% and course of geo-political concerns, the RBI may undertake a rate cut decision in Q4 FY 2025". So, what does this mean for your investments? We take a look. <h2>Good time to invest in high-yield deposits</h2>This is a good time to invest in high-yield <keyword id="19975805" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="fixed-deposits" source="keywords">fixed deposits</keyword> and long-term bonds. That's because with rate cuts imminent in the upcoming quarters, you'd be able to lock-in your funds with the prevailing, relatively higher interest rate right now. "We have already seen some of this already, with 10Y GOI yields at around 6.75%, having already eased significantly in last few months. So, if investors wait for rate cut to invest, it may be too late for them. Also, with corporate credit picking up, investing in corporate bond funds for a period of 3-5 years can also serve the investor well. Investors having a long term investment horizon and appropriate risk appetite can also invest in gilt funds", he continues. <h2>Dont exit the markets yet </h2>Though short-term biases of FII may continue towards Chinese markets keeping pressure on the equity markets, the resilient domestic flows can defy deep corrections in the equity markets despite high valuations. The markets may trend positive with subsequent rate cuts by the US Fed later this year. Hence, it wont be advisable to completely exit the equity markets during these times, notes Avnish Jain, Head - Fixed Income, Canara Robeco Mutual Fund Jain advises to take a buy on dips approach towards the stock markets i.e. adding quality stocks to your portfolio during times of market downturn. Shrikant Chouhan, Head Equity Research, Kotak Securities says that the current market texture is volatile, hence level based trading would be the ideal strategy for the day traders. "For the bulls now, 25,050/81,700 would be the key level to watch out. Above the same market could retest the level of 25,200-25,225/82,000-82,300. On the flip side, 24,900/81,200 would be the key support zone for the traders. Below the same, the selling pressure is likely to accelerate. Below the same, market could slip till 24,800-24,780/81,000-80,700", explains Chouhan. <h2>Time to buy a home? Maybe! </h2>No rate cut can spell some good news for homebuyers who are looking to get their hands on real estate during the festive season. Even as home loan rates remain steady as of now, homebuyers may have to wait until December or beyond to get any tangible relief in their home loan EMIs. Vimal Nadar, Head of Research, Colliers India explains that a change in stance from “withdrawal of accommodation” to “neutral” indicates its clear direction for a possible reduction in interest rates in the foreseeable future. This ongoing stability in repo rate should provide a significant thrust to residential real estate during these festive months as home loan interest rates are likely to remain steady. "Typically, Q4, marked by higher inclination of homebuyers to wrap-up property purchases during the auspicious period combined with instantaneous liquidity benefit aided by developers offering attractive discounts, has historically provided the final push to housing sales across the major markets in the country", he added.

RBI leaves repo rate unchanged. What does this mean for you?

With <keyword id="19899478" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="US" source="keywords">US</keyword> unemployment rates jumping from 4.1% to 4.3% in July 2024, the highest ever since October 2021, global markets fear an impending <keyword id="19950649" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="recession" source="keywords">recession</keyword> and a slowdown hitting the world's largest economy. Amidst a weakening labor market, even as <keyword id="19950650" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="interest-rates" source="keywords">interest rates</keyword> remain consistent at a 23-year peak range of 5.25-5.5%, the number of unemployed people in the US inched up to 7.9 million in July. Between January and June this year, the US economy added an average of 2,22,000 new jobs every month, which were significantly lower than the monthly average of 2,51,000 in 2023, and 3,77,000 in 2022. However, in July, the economy only managed to generate 1,14,000 new jobs. Even Goldman Sachs economists have upped the probability of recession hitting the US by 2025 to 25%, from its previous estimate of 15%. And while they maintain that there still remain "several reasons to not fear a slump", it is hard to overlook the fact that July's employment figures have already breached the Sahm rule, which is considered a tipping point for foreseeing economic slowdowns. But is that indication enough, or are we reading too much into short-term market developments? Lets find out. First, what is this Sahm rule? Named after formed Fed economist Claudia Sahm, the rule says that a recession is almost certain, and more likely already underway, if the <keyword id="20054242" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="unemployment-rate" source="keywords">unemployment rate</keyword> (based on a three-month moving average) inches up by 0.5% from its lowest point in the past year. It has been failsafe so far, proving right for every US recession since 1970. But even as Sahm herself, and other economists believes that a recession is not imminent this time around, despite weak employment figures, the ongoing shockwaves in the global markets are hard to ignore. Japan's Nikkei 225 plunged 4,451 points today, and closed the day around 12.4% lower, registering one of the worst losses it has seen since 1987. Closer home, Sensex fell sharply from the 80,000 mark it had previously breached by about 2,500 points to trade at around 78,400.21. Nifty also dipped around 2.5%, and was trading at about 24,098 points. Vishnu Kant Upadhyay, AVP, Research and Advisory at Master Capital Services Ltd notes, the significant domestic equities sell-off has been primarily driven by weak global sentiments following disappointing U.S. economic data, particularly non-farm payrolls, manufacturing PMI, and jobless claims, which have raised concerns about a potential economic slowdown in the world’s largest economy. Additionally, the yen carry trade has further dampened global sentiment. "However, given the prevailing bullish trend, it is unlikely that prices will remain low for an extended period. A recovery from these lower levels is a probable scenario", he continued. Even Anup Kurup, CIO at InCred Global Asset Management sees this as short-term, largely because of the "positioning in the derivative markets with many players selling volatility across many asset classes. A big move up in VIX on Friday after the disappointment in the jobs report would have likely triggered margin calls on the short volume strategies, which were mushrooming off late", he explained. So, what exactly is a recession? This is when a country experiences a temporary decline in its overall economic activity, which has a cascading effect on lowering its GDP, income, sales and employment numbers. Generally, if the a country's GDP continues to fall for two successive quarters, it is said to have entered recession. When there is a recession, individuals and businesses tend to spend less, which further hinders wealth creation, industrial activity and trade, perpetuating the cycle. However, in the first three months of 2024, US household wealth skyrocketed to a record $160 trillion, while household net worth touched $5.1 trillion, largely driven by the significant exposure of Americans to the stock markets, and the subsequent gains. Notably, last recession (2008-09) was marked by ballooning household debt, which grew just 2.19% in the last quarter. So, while a recession might not be immediately on the cards, the upcoming months of September and December, where the Fed is likely to announce significant rate cuts, will be tracked intently. A rate cut would increase money circulation in the economy, thereby boosting spending and countering recession. Transfer Pricing and International Economics subject matter expert Akash Kalra notes that this crash indicates a shift from rapid growth to a slower growth trajectory, rather than an immediate recession. Despite recent weak economic indicators such as higher unemployment claims and soft data in construction, durable goods orders, home sales, and manufacturing, the overall assessment is that the U.S. economy is transitioning to a slower growth rate, which is more vulnerable but not necessarily indicative of a recession. "It is important to note that consumer spending has been growing at a moderate rate. In addition, capital spending remains strong due to robust corporate balance sheets and interest in AI technology. The housing market is subdued but stable, and government spending continues to rise. Trade positions are unfavorable but not deteriorating. The <keyword id="19904332" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Federal-Reserve" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Federal Reserve" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Federal Reserve">Federal Reserve</keyword> has signaled a potential rate cut in September due to softer economic data and diminishing <keyword id="19895000" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="inflation" source="keywords">inflation</keyword>. Accordingly, the U.S. GDP growth is expected to slow down for the rest of 2024 before picking up again in 2025", he continues.

The rise of Robo-advisors - start-ups that use algorithms to help investors create and manage their portfolios - is a trend to watch this year. Some have argued that the emergence of robo-advisors is changing the wealth management industry. But Robert Stammers, Director of Investor Education at CFA Institute, doesn't think that this necessarily means they're threatening traditional advisors.
Stammers told Business Insider in a phone interview, that robo-advisors are helping a segment of the market that is underserved. These traditionally target people with about $20,000 - $30,000 in investible assets, while traditional advisors tend to look for those with $500,000 and over. Stammers said there haven't been enough studies or enough data on it because robo-advisors are still so nascent. "I think most traditional investors, even the big warehouses, in order for them to be profitable at the price points that they're selling their services at, people have to have a pretty big portfolio," Stammers said. "The reason that these make sense, is that these have very low margins, so it's very good for the consumer because the cost of advice is low, and it's a volume business. For people with smaller accounts it's really about access."
Referring to Vanguard's new offering, 'Personal Advisor Services', Stammers said, "I keep going back to Vanguard, they has that service already and they're building this robo-advice service because they've realized that there's a part of the market that is not being served, that they can bring on as new clients. So they don't think they're competing with themselves. So I don't see other traditional advisors seeing them as competitive as well."

It's important for investors to understand how their portfolio performed and if they're on track to meeting their long-term goals. 1. Find a suitable benchmark for your portfolio - "Assess the performance of your portfolio as a whole, including all your taxable and tax-deferred accounts," writes Spiegelman. "Compare your portfolio's actual performance in 2013 (accounting for any deposits or withdrawals during the year) to a benchmark return of appropriate market indexes weighted to match your target asset allocation." The portfolio doesn't have to beat the benchmark every time, but it shouldn't underperform it. This is also a good time to consider rebalancing it. 2. Look at the performance of individual investments - Once you're done examining the big picture, look at each stock, bond, and mutual fund's performance. 3. Examine your personal net worth - Assess your net worth, look at liabilities like mortgages, debt, and what you might owe if you sell your assets, and "complete the picture with a statement of personal cash flows-all sources of annual income minus expenses." Compare this with the previous year to see if your net worth increased and by how much and this is a good way to keep tabs on whether you're saving enough. 4. Update your savings and investment plan - "Putting one in place involves assessing your current situation, identifying your goals-retirement, college funding for children and so on-then formulating a savings and investment plan to help you reach them, as well as a distribution plan to fulfill your goals," writes Spiegelman. "Of course, no matter how good your plan is, it won't be of much help unless you take action."

Stock prices are near all-time highs but they're also expensive. This is because stock prices are rising faster than expected earnings growth. "The P/E ratio of 15.2 for the index as a whole is above the prior 5-year average forward 12-month P/E ratio of 13.2, and above the prior 10-year average forward 12-month P/E ratio of 13.8," according to FactSet's John Butters. "It is also slightly above the forward 12-month P/E ratio of 15.1 recorded one month ago. During the past month, the price of the index increased by 1.2%, while the forward 12-month EPS estimate increased by 0.2%."

Morgan Stanley saw its Q1 profit surge in part because of the success of its wealth management unit. The wealth management division reported net revenue of $3.62 billion. Higher fees and positive flows helped boost asset management fee revenue climbed to $2 billion, from $1.9 billion a year ago. From the press release: "Wealth Management representatives of 16,426 incr eased from 16,284 as of March 31, 2013. Average annualized revenue per representative of $881,000 and total client assets per representative of $118 million increased 4% and 7%, respectively, compared with the prior year quarter." 
Now that Morgan Stanley has completed its acquisition of the Smith Barney brokerage from Citigroup it doesn't have to share earnings with Citi. In the prior year quarter, Morgan Stanley's wealth management division earnings "included a non-controlling interest allocation to Citi of $121 million."
