As of Tuesday afternoon, the airport was experiencing inbound flight delays averaging about 1 hour and 55 minutes, according to data from flight-tracking website FlightAware. Though, flights heading out from the airport do not appear to be impacted.A spokesperson for the airport did not respond to a request for comment ahead of publication and the Federal Aviation Administration declined to comment as the airport is not FAA-managed.Since Tuesday morning, over <a href="https://flightaware.com/live/airport/KSUN/enroute?;offset=40;order=estimatedarrivaltime;sort=ASC" target="_blank" rel="noopener">40 private jets have flown through the nearby Friedman Memorial Airport</a> ahead of the conference, with at least another 100 scheduled to arrive throughout the day, according to FlightAware. As the world's largest catering facility, they run 24-7, cooking up every snack, dessert, and main dish eaten by the airline's 55 million passengers a year.And these travelers eat a lot. In 2018, Emirates passengers downed 72 million bread rolls, over 134,000 pounds of strawberries, 414,000 pounds of salmon, and more than 3 million pounds of potatoes.So how does the world's largest flying restaurant feed hungry passengers aboard nearly 200,000 flights a year?Well, before any cooking can even start, everything has to be unloaded off incoming flights. Plates, trays, trolleys, you name it. They're all dropped in the ground floor of the facility to be cleaned. Dishes are separated into categories and sent through industrial-sized warewashing machines. On average, the facility handles about 3 million pieces of tableware a day.Those trolleys that bring you drinks during your flight are also cleaned here. Then they're loaded up onto the building's mile-and-a-half-long monorail to be taken upstairs. This system is how massive amounts of inventory are moved safely through the building. The monorail has pickup and drop-off points at multiple locations on every floor.Upstairs is where the cooking takes off. First, in the cold kitchen, all of the sandwiches and appetizers are prepped and plated. Because the different cabins have specific menus, appetizers and sandwiches for first and business class are prepared on one side of the kitchen, while those for economy are prepared on the other. Sandwiches are sliced and stacked and then fed through the flow-wrapping machine to keep the bread fresh until it's unwrapped aboard the plane.Now, on to the main kitchen, where they're whipping up the hot food. The kitchen's broken down by four food regions: Asian, Sub-Continent, European, and Middle Eastern. Emirates' 1,800 chefs from around the world develop 1,300 different menus a month. They cover the culinary gamut of every destination Emirates flies to.Whenever you're aboard an Emirates flight, the meal you're served will be inspired by the region of your arrival destination. And with over 150 destinations in 85 different countries, well, that's a lot of region-specific meals.So if you're headed to France, you'll get a croissant in the morning. Flying to India? You'll most likely get a crisp kachori. Stopping off in Japan? How about some soba or a bento box? Emirates says they want to welcome travelers home or give new visitors a first taste of the region's food.So what's Emirates' specialty dish welcoming passengers to their hub of Dubai? The Emirati Arabic mezze selection with sticky pudding. The hot kitchen is where region-specific dishes like the mezze take form. Chefs mix big vats of vegetables, grill lines of lamb chops, and top rows of dishes with garnishes. Each plate has to taste and look exactly the same.It's at this point that all of the hot dishes head to the blast chiller. They have to be cooled down to the perfect food-safe temperature.The last kitchen is for all us sugar lovers: the dessert room. Cakes, pastries, and cookies are all individually mixed, piped, dipped, and baked here. The facility specializes in Arabic sweets, made in-house.The coolest part? The hydro processor, a high-powered water laser that cuts perfectly precise slices of cake.Finally, the assembly room. This is where all the pieces converge onto one tray. InterGlobe Aviation, parent of the country's largest airline <keyword id="6354706" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IndiGo">IndiGo</keyword>, on Tuesday reported a net loss of Rs 3,174 crore for the three months to June, primarily due to a sharp <keyword id="6354942" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="decline">decline</keyword> in revenues amid the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.The airline, which had a fleet of 277 planes at the end of June 2021, incurred a net loss of Rs 2,844 crore in the year-ago period. The carrier's consolidated total income increased by 177.2 per cent to Rs 3,170 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal, it said in a statement. The total income stood at Rs 1,143 crore in the first quarter of the previous financial year. The airline's total expenses increased by 59.2 per cent to Rs 6,344 crore in Q1 of 2021-22, compared to Rs 3,986 crore earlier. The company's CEO <keyword id="7255265" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ronojoy-Dutta">Ronojoy Dutta</keyword> said, "Our financial results for the first quarter were severely impacted by the second Covid wave. The number of passengers traveling declined sharply in the months of May and June." With the second wave receding, IndiGo is seeing a measured recovery in bookings for July and August, he added. Operated by Landline, the bus departs from a terminal gate, and checked bags are transported directly from flyers' incoming flights. Kennedy International Airport with two relaunched routes to Los Angeles and San Francisco</a>. Its ultra-premium Boeing 767-300ER aircraft are meant to draw top flyers away from the likes of Delta Air Lines and American Airlines, which partly dominate the route with premium offerings. The airline's next target remains to be seen but United is positioning itself for a strong recovery, and clearly isn't afraid to publicly challenge competitors to do so.

The unnamed co-pilot, an Ethiopian born in 1983, locked the cockpit door when the pilot went to the toilet. He then asked to refuel at Geneva, landed the plane, climbed down from the cockpit window on a rope, and gave himself up to police.
He was unarmed and there was no risk at any time to crew or passengers, Grangean said. The co-pilot is being questioned by police.
Passengers left the plane parked near the end of the runway and were checked by police as they held their hands on their necks, before boarding a bus, a Reuters witness said.
Airport police said the situation was "under control" after flight ET 702 had been diverted from its original destination of Rome. The airline earlier said the flight from the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa had been "forced to proceed" to Geneva.
State-run Ethiopian television said there had been 193 passengers on board the Boeing aircraft, including 140 Italian nationals.
The brief drama in Geneva on Monday morning caused the cancellation of some short-haul flights and some incoming flights were diverted to other airports. Hundreds of passengers booked on disrupted flights scrambled to change their tickets.
<h3>ASYLUM</h3>
In an apparent recording of a radio communication between the aircraft and air traffic control posted on the social media site Twitter, a demand for asylum was made.
Reuters could not independently verify the authenticity of the recording and it was not immediately clear whether it was a hijacker or pilot speaking from the plane.
"We need asylum or assurance we will not be transferred to the Ethiopian government," the voice in the recording said, posted by Twitter user @MatthewKeysLive.
A flight tracking app for mobile devices showed the flight circling over the Swiss city several times before landing.
Ethiopian nationals and the Horn of Africa country's flag carrier have been involved in several hijackings in the past.
In 1993, an Ethiopian used a gun hidden in his hat to hijack a German passenger jet bound for New York. He was later sentenced to 20 years in a U.S. prison.
Two years later, police in Greece overpowered an Ethiopian hijacker who held a knife to the throat of an Olympic Airways stewardess and demanded political asylum.
At least 50 people were killed when a hijacked Ethiopian Airlines passenger jet crashed in the Indian Ocean in 1996. In 2001, a dozen Ethiopian students hijacked a plane carrying around 60 people and flew to Sudan.

New Delhi, May 8 () Providing a relief to NRIs and foreign nationals stuck in India due to lockdown, the government on Friday said their stay in the country during the period will not be counted for the purpose of determining their residency status for taxation purpose. The nationwide lockdown since March 25 and cancellation of international flights to contain the spread of COVID-19 has forced non-resident Indians (NRI) and foreign nationals to prolong their stay in India. There were apprehensions that this extended stay could lead to these individuals becoming Indian residents as per Section 6 of the Income Tax Act. "Considering various representations received from people who had to prolong their stay in India due to lockdown and suspension of international flights, expressing concerns that they will be required to file tax returns as Indian residents, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today allowed discounting of prolonged stay period in India for the purpose of determining residency status," an official statement said. The Ministry further stated that as the lockdown continues during the financial year 2020-21 and it is not yet clear as to when international flight operations would resume, a circular excluding the period of stay of these individuals up to the date of normalisation of international flight operations, for determination of the residential status for the financial year 2020-21 shall be issued after flights are resumed. In a circular, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in order to avoid genuine hardship in such cases, for the purposes of determining the residential status for 2019-20 of an individual who has come to India on a visit before March 22, 2020, and has been unable to leave India on or before March 31, 2020, his period of stay in India from March 22 to March 31, 2020, shall not be taken into account. In cases where such individuals have been quarantined in India due to COVID-19 on or after March 1, 2020 and has departed on an evacuation flight on or before March 31, 2020 or has been unable to leave India on or before March 31, 2020, his period of stay from the beginning of his quarantine to his date of departure or March 31, 2020, as the case may be, shall not be taken into account for determining residency status. Where the individual has departed on an evacuation flight on or before March 31, 2020, his period of stay in India from March 22, 2020 to his date of departure shall not be taken into account. The status of an individual whether he is resident in India or a non-resident or not ordinarily resident, is dependent, inter-alia, on the period for which the person is in India during a year. As per I-T laws, for 2019-20 fiscal, individuals staying in India for 182 days or more in a fiscal or 60 days or more in a fiscal and at least 365 days in the past 4 fiscals will be considered as resident of India for taxation purpose and accordingly his/her global income becomes taxable. "This is a much welcome and awaited circular, which takes cognizance of concerns of NRIs and other foreigners who arrived in India before March 22, 2020, but could not return on account of imposition of lockdown and suspension of international flights," Nangia Andersen Consulting Director Shailesh Kumar said. "Presently, this circular takes care of residential status only for FY 2019-20 and thus excluded period till March 31, 2020 only. One may expect a similar circular for FY 2020-21, providing exclusion of lockdown period for FY 2020-21 as well for determining the residential status," he added. JD RVK
