While the charges on NEFT, RTGS were waived off earlier this month, the bank has removed charges imposed on IMPS as well, starting August 2019. This is applicable to internet banking, mobile banking and YONO services. This move will bring cheer to its growing digital customer base. The bank has over 74 million digital users — including 14 million who access mobile banking services. Their customers also perform 18% of the total mobile banking transactions in the country. The waiver in NEFT, IMPS and RTGS charges will attract more customers towards digital transactions, the bank noted. "In sync with our strategy and Government of India’s vision to create a digital economy, SBI has taken this step to promote the use of YONO, internet banking and mobile banking for doing NEFT and RTGS transactions without incurring any cost,” P K Gupta, MD (retail &amp; digital banking) of SBI said. The bank had already reduced NEFT and RTGS charges for customers transacting through branch network by 20% across all slabs. Last month, the Reserve Bank of India(RBI) waived off its own charges for the transactions and directed banks to do the same.

Country’s largest state-run lender, the <keyword id="6354731" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="State-Bank-Of-India">State Bank of India</keyword> (<keyword id="13222" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SBI">SBI</keyword>) has revised the prices it charges on <keyword id="6489285" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Immediate-Payment-Service">Immediate Payment Service</keyword> (IMPS) for transferring money. For transfers up to Rs. 1,000, customers won’t need to pay any charges after, while transfers from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1 lakh will be charged a fee of Rs. 5, exclusive of applicable goods and services tax (GST). For transfers from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh, users would need to pay a charge of Rs. 15, plus applicable GST. SBI, however, isn’t the first bank to change its charges levied for various services post the implementation of GST, given that the new regime put banking and financial services under the tax bracket of 18%. Taking to the microblogging site Twitter, SBI announced that GST will remove the cascading effect of tax on prices of goods and services, thus reducing production costs.

A Florida GOP lawmaker apologized after calling transgender people 'demons and imps' and comparing them to X-Men mutants

New Delhi, Apr 21 () After constantly rising for the past several months, the volume, as well as value, of transactions through UPI payment system dropped in March due to the 21-day nationwide lockdown imposed to combat the coronavirus infection. Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is an instant payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), an RBI regulated entity. UPI is built over the IMPS infrastructure and allows one to instantly transfer money to any bank account. According to the data, the volume of UPI transactions in March slipped to 124.68 crore from 132.57 crore in February. The value of UPI transactions too came down to Rs 2.06 lakh crore during March, from Rs 2.23 lakh crore in February. The number and value of transactions through the UPI had been constantly growing, barring marginal decline in some months. The 21-lockdown imposed by the government with effect from March 25 to fight coronavirus seems to have adversely impacted the transactions through UPI. The real impact, however, will be known once the transactions data for April is known. The lockdown has been extended till May 3, though with some concessions. The NPCI data on IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) revealed the number of transactions fell to 21.68 crore in March from 24.78 crore in the previous month. There was also a decline in the value of transactions during March to Rs 2.01 lakh crore from 2.14 lakh crore in February. IMPS provides real-time fund transfer which offers an instant, 24X7, interbank electronic fund transfer service that could be accessed on multiple channels like Mobile, Internet, ATM, SMS, Branch and USSD (*99#). The 24X7 IMPS empowers customers to transfer money instantly through banks and RBI authorised Prepaid Payment Instrument Issuers (PPI) across India through mobile phone, internet banking and ATM. Meanwhile, an RBI data revealed that value of Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) transactions shot up to Rs 120.47 lakh crore in March, up 34 per cent over February. UPI transactions drop in March, RTGS shoots up due to lockdown

Apart from sending message to your friends sitting miles away, now you can also transfer money to your near and dear ones using social networking site Facebook. The credit for this initiative goes to none other than <keyword id="46013" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kotak-Mahindra-Bank">Kotak Mahindra Bank</keyword> (<keyword id="2538350" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="KBM">KBM</keyword>), which has launched a Facebook-based instant fund transfer service ‘<keyword id="2555876" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="KayPay">KayPay</keyword>’. 
 According to Deepak Sharma, KMB’s executive vice-president and head of digital initiatives, “This is a bank agnostic product, the sender and the receiver may not be our account holders. We have used the IMPS platform on the National Payments Corporation of India (<keyword id="193629" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="NPCI">NPCI</keyword>) network to make this possible.” 
 
Currently, using IMPS infrastructure, a sender can initiate fund transfer to any person through mobile phone. 
 
Sharma also highlighted that the IMPS platform, currently, has 28 banks under it and account holders of any of these banks can use the newly launched service. However, there will be no charges for either sending or receiving the money, he said. 
 
Notably, the sender will have to register on a dedicated website to access ‘KayPay’ where in he will have to give bank account details and the bank’s MMID, apart from personal credentials. 
 
Once a user will complete the registration process, then, he can initiate transactions. It is worth noting, if the beneficiary has not registered on ‘KayPay’, he will be directed to a page to register for completing a transaction. However, if the beneficiary has already registered on ‘KayPay’, the transaction will be executed faster. 
 
Examining the security aspect of this initiative, Sharma claimed it is fully secured, keeping in mind that the Facebook account gets compromised as it uses two-factor authentication to complete a transaction.

On October 4, Tesla's former Model S and Model X program manager, David Zhang, also told his followers on LinkedIn that he had left the company. Zhang's updated LinkedIn profile shows him parting ways with Tesla in July, but he hadn't commented publicly on his departure until Friday. The carmaker's former head of vehicle programs, Daniel Ho, formally announced on LinkedIn on September 29 that he had left Tesla and joined Waymo as its new programs director. It’s been just 10 days that <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> redesigned its website, but looks like there is more on the mind of the SoftBank-backed company, as it looks forward to adding new features and further improving the user experience. 
 
As per reports, these new features would include product selfies, enhanced order-tracking and a new 'my order' page. 
 
"The product has been redesigned to improve the overall information architecture," Anand Chandrasekaran, chief product officer, told ET. 
 
Talking of 'product selfie', it allows users to post a selfie with the product they bought from the website. "We have had a phenomenal response to it so far as customers get to see actual people using the product," Chandrasekaran said. 
 
In the past six-seven months, Snapdeal has made extensive use of technology to improve efficiency and customer experience. As per the company claims, delivery times have been brought down by 70-75% in the past year because of investments done in the logistics company GoJavas. Also, refunds from the company are now based on the Immediate Payment Service (IMPS). 
 
"Since September 2015, 93% of refunds are being done within 30 minutes. It has been integrated with the wallet on the back-end to make the whole experience seamless for the customer," Chandrasekharan said. 
 
In addition to this, we have also seen smaller launches like SnapLite, which enables users with slow network connections to access a lighter version of the website, and Snapsearch, which allows users to upload pictures and find similar products on the website.

Mumbai, June 4 () The Reserve Bank has decided to publish on a daily basis data on volume and value of transactions through various payment systems like NEFT, RTGS and UPI as well as cash withdrawals from ATMs, with a view to facilitate research and innovations. As per June 3 data, people withdrew Rs 4,426.92 crore cash from ATMs and Rs 668.88 crore through micro ATMs/Banking Correspondents. There were 4.3 lakh RTGS transactions valued at Rs 33,0632.89 crore and 100.36 lakh NEFT transactions accounted for Rs 62,985.75 crore. There were as many 456.26 lakh UPI based transactions through which Rs 9,622.38 crore were transacted. Value of IMPS-based transactions stood at Rs 7,653.71 crore. "The data relating to transactions undertaken during the day will be published on the subsequent working day," the RBI said in a statement. It also said the data relating to transactions through cards will also be published daily once the reporting systems are put in place. The Reserve Bank captures volume and value of transactions undertaken in payments systems operated by the RBI (NEFT and RTGS) and National Payments Corporation of India (AePS, CTS, IMPS, NACH and UPI) as well as the position of cash withdrawal transactions using ATMs and BCs. The payment system data is presently published monthly by the RBI in its bulletin. The RBI, beginning Thursday, has decided to publish the data on a daily basis. "The data relating to transactions undertaken during the day will be published on the subsequent working day. Data relating to cards will be published once the daily reporting systems are in place," the RBI said. This initiative to disseminate payment systems activities data on a daily frequency, the apex bank said, is expected to facilitate better research and also contribute to innovations in payment systems. The monthly publication in RBI Bulletin, however, will continue. Meanwhile, the RBI has extended timeline for compliance with various payment system requirements in view of the prevailing situation due to COVID-19 pandemic. For instance, regarding implementation of provisions of circular on 'Enhancing Security of Card Transactions', the timeline has been extended to September 30 from the original schedule of June 16. Timelines have been also been extended in relation 'issuance and operation of prepaid payment instruments (PPIMD); Harmonisation of Turn Around Time (TAT) and Customer Compensation for Failed Transactions using Authorised Payment Systems; and Guidelines on Regulation of Payment Aggregators and Payment Gateways.
