New <keyword id="19900881" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhi" source="keywords">Delhi</keyword>: Japanese auto major <keyword id="19965528" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="honda" source="keywords">Honda</keyword> on Wednesday said it has started joint research on AI technologies with <keyword id="19896445" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="iit-delhi" source="keywords">IIT Delhi</keyword> and IIT Bombay with plans to develop driver assistance and automated driving technologies applicable in various regions of the world, including India. The joint research is aimed to further advance Honda CI (Cooperative Intelligence)-- the original Honda AI that enables mutual understanding between machines and people, the company said in a statement. Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL), a Honda subsidiary in India, will sign a joint research contract with the two IITs. "The IITs are a home to a large number of excellent researchers and engineers, and through the joint research with those institutes, Honda will strive to advance the underlying technologies of CI, with an eye toward the future applications for technologies that reduce traffic collisions and enable automated driving," it said. With an aim to achieve further advancement of CI, Honda and IITs have set joint research themes such as recognition of the surrounding environment and cultivation of cooperative behaviour, and will conduct research and development while utilising the cutting-edge AI technologies, it added. Under the partnership, for each research theme, Honda associates and IIT professors will engage with IIT students for planning, designing, developing and testing technologies which work beyond the confines of the laboratory and thereby proceed with the research and development more flexibly and with a high degree of freedom, Honda said. "This will enable Honda and IITs to work in a more flexible environment with deeper exchange of academic and industry insights," it added. In addition, as part of this research, Honda with the help of IITs is aiming to conduct verification of driving assistance and automated driving technologies in the suburbs of Delhi and in Mumbai. Due to numerous variations in the road systems and a large number of road users, India has a complex traffic environment where situations that occur frequently are difficult for AI to predict. "By conducting technology verification in such a technically challenging environment, Honda and IITs will refine the underlying technologies of CI and strive to apply them to future driver assistance and automated driving technologies in various regions of the world, including India," the statement said. Honda said it has been actively hiring IIT graduates since 2019, and many of them are now playing key roles in the areas of mobility intelligence, including the research and development of CI.

These figures are more common in sectors such as education and design, where entry-level salaries tend to be modest compared to other fields. <h2>IIT Bombay 2024 placements: Number of students who got jobs </h2>Out of the 2,414 students who registered for placements, 1,475 students secured job offers, bringing the placement rate to 74.53%. The placement drive saw participation from 364 companies, with 1,650 job offers being made. In addition to full-time roles, internships also played a crucial part in student preparation and employment. However, when we look at the last four years, the numbers have been stable. In the 2020-2021 season, 1,150 students were placed, which rose to 1,441 in 2021-2022. The peak was reached in 2022-2023 with 1,516 placements, while this year saw a slight decrease to 1,475. The B.Tech program led the way with 683 placements, followed by the M.Tech program with 415 placements. IIT Bombay 2024 placements: Lowest salary drops to Rs 4 LPA, 22 students get Rs 1 crore package

The announcement was made on Monday by the Ministry of Education at an event at the Bharat Mandapam in the national capital that was presided by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. IIT Madras ranked best higher educational institution in India

QS Rankings: IIT Bombay best in employability, IIT Delhi ranks second

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) here is going to set up a <keyword id="6422364" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="space-technology">space technology</keyword> cell in collaboration with the <keyword id="116095" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Space-Research-Organisation">Indian Space Research Organisation</keyword> (ISRO). The announcement was made on Friday by IIT Delhi Director V Ramgopal Rao, a day ahead of the varsity's 50th annual convocation where ISRO Chief K Sivan will be the chief guest. "IIT Delhi is going to set up a space technology centre in collaboration with ISRO to contribute to the space technology research," Rao told reporters. With the move, IIT Delhi will join the league of other premiere institutions like IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati and IIT Roorkee where the Space Technology Cells (STCs) have been set up to play a major role in taking up the space technology research and applications to the newer heights.

"Under his leadership, India took many leaps in the field of Innovation. ARIIA gives us a reflection of our efforts and provides us with a reason to celebrate our achievements. A National Research Foundation (NRF) will be set up for invigorating innovation and research under recently released Nation Education Policy (NEP)," he said. The minister said this year, the category of women only higher educational institutions was introduced to encourage women and bringing gender parity in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship. Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women bagged the top prize in the category. Releasing the ranking, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said, "Innovation has always been key defining feature of human progress. India has its own illustrious history of innovations spanning at least 20 centuries right from the invention of 'zero' and the decimal system. India was known as the 'vishwa guru'. We must regain that intellectual leadership, we must again emerge as a global hub of learning and innovation." "We have highly talented youths brimming with new ideas, with a passion for implementation and willingness to forge a new path. The youth will define our country's future. They need encouragement, facilitation and recognition, they must be given needed guidance and freedom to explore new frontiers," Naidu added.

The new facility will enable IITB to become the nucleus of entrepreneurship in the Powai Valley, similar to the role played by Stanford University in the Silicon Valley and MIT in Route 128. 
 The facility will provide a diverse range of expertise in areas like energy, aviation, semiconductors, construction, IT and <keyword id="6354776" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telecom">Telecom</keyword>, automotive, chemical, industrial design, metals/material and Biotech/Pharma.

The course will be available online from 29 July. Launched by the Indian government, Swayam provides open online courses with teaching and learning resources to its citizens. “ISRO will go ‘back to the moon’ today. Learn Aerospace Engineering with Swayam, who knows, if you are a part of the journey the next time,” the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry said in a tweet.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur will conduct a three month long ‘Aircraft stability and control’ course and ‘Design of fixed wing unmanned aerial vehicles’ course for two months, under the initiative. It will also conduct ‘Introduction to rocket propulsion’ course for three months. In the aerospace domain, IIT Bombay will also launch a three month long course on ‘Introduction to aerospace engineering/flight’ imparting the basics of aerospace engineering. ‘Vibration and structural dynamics’ course will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur. The demand for Aerospace engineers has been on the rise, globally. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the sector will create jobs at a rate of 6% by 2026. However, they said that the decision would be reconsidered next year, provided the higher education ranking publication is able to reassure the institutions in India on their ranking procedure. The development comes after the clashes between THE and IIT Bombay when their international rank slipped further. IIT Bombay argued that the institute had not given any data for the evaluation, the last data they gave to THE for university rankings was for 2017. THE however said that they received the data. The university rankings featured only six Indian universities in the top 500. In fact, none of them made it to the top 300 universities list. This had happened for the first time in the last seven years — despite an increase in the number of Indian institutions featuring on the list. IIT Delhi’s director too said that they are making a significant contribution to the innovation system in the country. “If Delhi NCR has the highest number of tech startups/unicorns in India, IIT Delhi has played a role in it. If 14 of the 24 unicorns created by Indians are by the alumni of one single institution — IIT Delhi, then it is surely doing something right,” V Ramgopal Rao, director at IIT Delhi <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/economy/seven-iits-drop-out-of-participation-in-times-higher-education-rankings-2020-5155441.html">said last year</a> when <keyword id="1582424" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="THE-Rankings">the rankings</keyword> came in.
