Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his best wishes to the <keyword id="35239" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="International-Film-Festival-of-India" source="Orion">International Film Festival of India</keyword> (IFFI) ahead of its 53rd edition. The renowned festival, which is set to be held in Goa from November 20 through November 28 will showcase the best of cinema in addition to panel discussions and performances by actors of different film industries of India. It will also confer the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award upon acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Carlos Saura. Panaji, Nov 20 (IANS) Union Minister for Information &amp; Broadcasting Anurag Thakur announced on Sunday that the Indian Film Personality of the Year award will be conferred upon megastar Chiranjeevi. The prestigious award was announced during the inauguration of the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) here. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Billionaire Howard Marks says markets are in the middle of the third "sea change" of his 53-year career. </li><li>Previous changes were in risk appetite and in the interest rate environment. </li></ul>Howard Marks in his letter to investors said that financial markets are in their third "sea change" he's seen in his 53-year career, and that the strategies that worked well for decades may be tested amid upheavals in the investing landscape. The billionaire founder of Oaktree Capital says that the previous two changes he's observed earlier in his career were the shift in investor mentality when it comes to risk appetite, noting that the rise of high-yield bonds completely altered the conventional wisdom of investing in only "safe assets". The second change came during the era of Paul Volcker's leadership of the Federal Reserve, which ushered in a 40 year period of declining interest rates and an equally long boom in the stock market. In this latest change, market conditions are radically different, and less ideal compared to the post-crisis years. His biggest takeaway is that the the previous era of low returns from 2009-2021 has now become a "full-return world," and investors may not have to lean as heavily on risky investments to meet return requirements, though they will need to change how they invest compared to previous decades. <h3>Here are the investor's six best quotes from the memo, lightly edited for length and clarity:</h3>1. On the sea change in risk appetite:"Now risk wasn't necessarily avoided, but rather considered relative to return and hopefully borne intelligently...Young people joining the industry today would likely be shocked to learn that, back then, investors didn't think in risk/return terms. Now that's all we do."2. On the sea change in the rate environment: "The long-term decline in interest rates began just a few years after the advent of risk/return thinking, and I view the combination of the two as having given rise to (a) the rebirth of optimism among investors, (b) the pursuit of profit through aggressive investment vehicles, and (c) an incredible four decades for the stock market."3. On the third and most recent sea change: "The bottom line for me is that, in many ways, conditions at this moment are overwhelmingly different from – and mostly less favorable than – those of the post-GFC climate described above. These changes may be long-lasting, or they may wear off over time. But in my view, we're unlikely to quickly see the same optimism and ease that marked the post-GFC period.We've gone from the low-return world of 2009-21 to a full-return world, and it may become more so in the near term. Investors can now potentially get solid returns from credit instruments, meaning they no longer have to rely as heavily on riskier investments to achieve their overall return targets. Lenders and bargain hunters face much better prospects in this changed environment than they did in 2009-21. And importantly, if you grant that the environment is and may continue to be very different from what it was over the last 13 years – and most of the last 40 years – it should follow that the investment strategies that worked best over those periods may not be the ones that outperform in the years ahead."4. On the staggering difference in previous interest rate environments versus today:"I received a notice from the bank each time my rate changed, and I framed the one that marked the high point in December 1980: It told me the interest rate on my loan had risen to 22.25%! Four decades later, I was able to borrow at just 2.25%, fixed for 10 years. This represented a decline of 2,000 basis points. Miraculous!"5. On his outlook for interest rates:"[I] believe that the base interest rate over the next several years is more likely to average 2-4% (i.e., not far from where it is now) than 0-2%. Of course, there are counterarguments. But, for me, the bottom line is that highly stimulative rates are likely not in the cards for the next several years, barring a serious recession from which we need rescuing (and that would have ramifications of its own). But I assure you Oaktree isn't going to bet money on that belief.And later on in the memo: "Lastly, there is a forecast I'm confident of: Interest rates aren't about to decline by another 2,000 basis points from here."6. On the outlook for the rate of debt defaults:"No one can foretell how high the debt default rate will rise or how long it'll stay there. It's worth noting in this context that the annual default rate on high yield bonds averaged 3.6% from 1978 through 2009, but an unusually low 2.1% under the "just-right" conditions that prevailed for the decade 2010-19. In fact, there was only one year in that decade in which defaults reached the historical average."

Virginia, the Supreme Court case that, in 1967, <a href="https://www.nypl.org/blog/2016/11/03/loving-and-history">legalized marriage between interracial couples</a> in the US.Today, <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/06/12/key-facts-about-race-and-marriage-50-years-after-loving-v-virginia/">interracial couples make up 17% of newlyweds a year in the US,</a> according to Pew Research, and the demographics of couples <a href="https://splinternews.com/2015-was-a-huge-year-for-interracial-relationships-on-t-1793853816">on TV</a> and <a href="https://eu.usatoday.com/story/life/movies/2017/05/19/changing-interracial-relationships-in-hollywood-everything/101781240/">in movies</a> are changing.Insider spoke to two couples in interracial relationships on how they met, fell in love, and how race has influenced the way they navigate the world together. <h2>Bedford and Chelsie Dort didn't talk much about race when they first started dating, but now they do</h2><div type="image" title="Chelsie and Bedford Dort" height="643" width="857" msid="76430561" hostid="261"></div>Chelsie, 30, and Bedford, 35, told Insider they didn't think much about race when they first started dating. While Bedford is Black and of Haitian descent and Chelsie is white, they both grew up in Utah <a href="https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/UT">which is 90.7% white,</a> and both come from a Christian background. Bedford said that might have influenced their conversation on race as a couple. The only big question on Chelsie's mind when they first met was how Bedford would react to her having a son, which had been a dealbreaker with other dates."Naturally, because of how we were raised and maybe even because of the location we were raised, it was just an automatic. 'Oh, I'm Black, she's white,'" Bedford said.However, while their families were both welcoming to one another, some people still made <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/03/smarter-living/how-to-respond-to-microaggressions.html">microaggressive comments</a> about their relationship that brought race to the forefront of their minds. "A little after we had started dating that someone had made a comment to me a little along the lines of 'Well, your kids will never look like you,'" Chelsie told Insider."I was like 'Isn't that crazy?' and he was like 'That's actually not crazy. I've had quite a few people break up with me for that reason. Just because their kids will never have blonde hair and blue eyes, their genetics don't necessarily shine through in that way.'""After that conversation, I feel like it opened up doors for us to have more conversations about those things." Since getting married in 2014, they've had three more kids, and now work together as content creators.<h2>Bedford: 'The first time that I got pulled over, it was kind of a big deal'</h2><div type="image" title="Chelsie and Bedford Dort" height="643" width="857" msid="76430563" hostid="261"></div>[This transcript has been edited from a conversation between Canela López, and Bedford and Chelsie Dort.]Bedford: I had expired tags so technically I was in the wrong. But with expired tags came seven police officers, being handcuffed in the parking lot, and being taken away.We were all meeting at a restaurant and I got pulled over about a block from the restaurant, my family's there, her family's there, we were all together for a birthday.I remember her getting kind of riled up and my family saying "You gotta calm down. The last thing you can do is bring any sort of emotion, intensity into that situation."Because I know that, more often than not, police officers are scared when they pull people over, and some of them are scared of me. So coming in and my wife wanting to fight, scream, yell, be emotional, I'm like "No, this is going to be a whole lot worse if we don't keep our heads."I remember having the conversation afterward, and she said "Is this really what it's like" and I said, "Yeah, this is why I act the way that I act when police are around." When we had those conversations, I think it was eye-opening. Now, she realizes this is everyday life. It's not something that happens every now and again or once a week, there are things I think about and I'm aware that she is fully cognizant of because of our relationship.<h2>Chelsie: 'I took time to research'</h2><div type="image" title="The Dort family" height="1134" width="1512" msid="76430568" hostid="261"></div>Bedford: The riots are happening, and we're aware of it. It's disappointing that the riots are happening, but only because riots occur only when people aren't being heard. I understand people are frustrated with things being broken, but at the end of the day, it's been hundreds of years of a demographic, of a group of people who have not been heard. I think one of the biggest things she [Chelsie] was scared of is what it looked like for other Black people if we all got lumped into a riot. And there have been negative things that have happened to people who have nothing to do with or were peacefully protesting only because they were Black in an area.We had a conversation and she said "Are you scared?" and I'm not anymore scared than I've ever been and I think that was kinda a turning point for her when she realized "this is the unsettledness that you feel all the time, this is how you feel." Chelsie: I told Bedford, "My fear with the riots is it just makes the police more afraid of you." Because we were talking one time and Bedford said, "You know, it's hard as a police officer in this situation if someone's walking towards you, how much time do you give them to find out what their intentions are?" And that's what's scary for me because I was like, "Well, you have good intentions."At first, when the riots started, I was like "I hate this, it's making it worse," because that's my experience and my fear as a white mother of people fighting power with power. But then, after I had some time to research and think about it, then I was like, "well there's only so much sometimes you can do before you feel backed into a corner and then you fight your way out." I think that some people feel like it's their only option.<h2>Bree and CJ Koegel met modeling for Wilhelmina Models in 2016</h2><div type="image" title="Bree and CJ Koegel" height="4000" width="5333" msid="76430575" hostid="261"></div>Bree Koegel, 31, met CJ, 35, her now-husband and soon-to-be father of their first child, through their work as fitness models for Wilhelmina.Bree and CJ told Insider they spent the first months of their relationship having deep conversations and building a strong friendship. While their conversations oftentimes focused on serious topics, race isn't something that immediately came up for the two. "This isn't the first interracial relationship I've been, and Bree had known that," CJ said. "I think between her and I, there was this lack of us going into some of those deep conversations because I think we both automatically felt we stood on the same principles."<h2>CJ: 'Listening to Bree speak has taught me how to expose these microaggressions, which in the past I wouldn't have seen'</h2>[This transcript has been edited from a conversation between Canela López, and Bree and CJ Koegel]CJ: There's people in my family who I don't see eye-to-eye with on these topics. So, I've been having these conversations with my family members, my parents.I look at it from my perspective and said, "Well, if I have things I need to unlearn, better believe the people above me in my family have things that they need to unwind too because they've gone through a lot of stuff in this world too." I've watched after my conversations and how I saw certain things being handled. It's simple things that I saw like getting into my dad's car on the way to the store and when he turns the car on, it was on a station of a history channel based off of learning about the inequalities of the Black community.It's difficult to look at your family and see things that you know need to be changed. There's some people in my family who didn't go to my sister's wedding based off of the fact that they didn't want her to marry a Black guy.So you see that and it's disheartening, but at the same time, the same way I have a voice in everything else, I need to stay with that voice and maintain that leadership, even knowing that these conversations are going to be difficult, but knowing that they need to happen.<div type="image" title="Bree and CJ Koegel" height="4016" width="5355" msid="76430579" hostid="261"></div><h2>Bree: 'I could see CJ just get paralyzed in thought right after the Ahmad Arbery video footage surfaced'</h2>Bree: He was like, "I don't know why this is just hitting me different. I know that this happens, and I know that we've seen injustice caught on film before, but this feels different."I said, "I think it's because we're about to have a son."That was when the conversation took a far deeper meaning because it was more than just, "What do you think?" It was like, "So what are we going to do? And how are we going to be part of the change? And how are we going to make this world better?"Then to see George Floyd days later, and the whole world's reaction, all of a sudden it didn't feel taboo or aggressive to post about it. It was like, "Oh no, you know what? This isn't just a problem inside our relationship to address, this is a problem the world needs to address. If we can expose our conversation to the world, and help them move this along, then by all means with these, our platform to do so."I think it's been really interesting as a Black person, kind of zooming out and zooming in. Because I've been saying to CJ, there are days that I just get exhausted from all of it and I'm like, "I need a break." And then he picks up the slack.I think these conversations with me now being empowered and me now, not really giving a cr-p about offending somebody, it's going to change the way that we engage in this world, for the better. And it's going change the way we engage as parents for the better. Interracial couples on how they're talking about race, love, and Black Lives Matter: 'The conversation took a far deeper meaning'

O'Neal has rented out the concourse of the Atlanta Braves' SunTrust Park stadium for the event and enlisted performers like Migos, Tiesto, Diplo, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/t-pain-talks-school-of-business-show-startups-fuse-2018-10">T-Pain</a>, and Cirque Du Soleil, along with a list of food vendors including STK and Waffle House. O'Neal and the event's partners, Medium Rare founders Joe Silberzweig and Adam Richman, spoke with Business Insider about putting on "Shaq's Fun House," which they're billing as "part music festival, part carnival, part circus." Shaq also touched on his history of DJ-ing and rapping, his retirement from the NBA, and his contentious working relationship with NBA analyst Charles Barkley. This interview has been condensed and edited for clarity.John Lynch: Your team has billed this event as "part music festival, part carnival, part circus," each of which could be a good time on its own. But why combine those three into one event?Shaquille O'Neal: Because it's never been done before. Two things that bring people together are sports and music, and I've dominated both. And everyone knows that the Shaq brand is all about fun. I've been to a lot of Super Bowl parties, and, you know, they're all the same. I wanted this one to be different because I live in Atlanta. Atlanta's my town, and the first one I did in Miami was epic. Diplo, Aoki ... Gronk when he jumped on my back and almost broke my back. We want to recreate that fun here. So I'm renting out the Battery, which is SunTrust Park, the Atlanta Braves' stadium, and we're just going to have a great time. Again, it's going to be food by STK, Waffle House. Cirque Du Soleil's Mystére is going to be there. It's just something that really hasn't been done before. With me, when Joe and Adam were talking about it, they just asked, "Well, what are the things you like to do?" I was like, "I like to eat. I love to go to a circus. When I'm in Vegas, I love to go to Cirque Du Soleil shows." And they were like, "That's it! That's it! That's what we're going to do." So the first one we created last year, and like I said earlier, it was epic.Lynch: In March, you had this at Miami's Music Week. This time, you're coinciding it with the Super Bowl. Why the Super Bowl as an event, instead of having it at a larger music festival or something along those lines?O'Neal: Well, the Super Bowl, it's always going to bring in a hundred million people. Everyone likes to party, and you just have to present people with the best party. Before I met Adam and Joe, when I was a NBA player, I held the title of the best party-thrower in the world. I once rented out the Miami Zoo, the whole zoo, and brought it to my house in Miami. And it was epic. I did a "Scarface" party in Miami. Al Pacino wasn't there, but his best friend was there. And the whole cast of "Scarface" was there. I've been doing parties since 1992, and now I'm just back. Now, I'm doing it bigger, and I'm doing it funner.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image">Medium Rare</div></div></div>Joe Silberzweig: Just to chime in, you know, Shaquille's brand is larger-than-life and over-the-top, and there's nothing bigger than the biggest sports and entertainment weekend of the year, which is the Super Bowl. And it's so fitting for his brand and how we approach the "Fun House" concept. Really that's what makes this event so unique is it's Shaquille's DNA in every vertical. Adam and I work with him to bring his vision to life, whether that be on the music side, with Migos, Tiesto, and Diplo, artists that he loves, or on the food and beverage side, working with STK and Waffle House. Picking out carnival rides, whatever it may be. It's really all his magic touch. And that's what brings the event together so well.Adam Richman: To add to that, we saw such a big market opportunity around the Super Bowl. There's been tons of parties around the Super Bowl. Maxim, Playboy. These events have existed 10, 15 years. We feel it's really stale and boring, and the question was, how do we do something different? How does Shaquille really bring his party magic to the Super Bowl and do something that's never been done before? And we're really bringing the fun back. That's the attitude here. It's not a concert. You said it before: there's three things going on here. It's a music festival, it's a circus, it's a carnival. We don't just want to be one of those things, we want to be all three and really do something different, not just one of these boring concerts that everyone has "been there done that" a hundred times.Lynch: Although it is a solid lineup, music-wise. You've got Migos performing, and a lot of people were wanting to see them perform at the halftime show. It's in Atlanta this year, they're from Atlanta. Shaq, do you think the NFL missed an opportunity there, though you guys are sort of taking advantage of it?O'Neal: I definitely think that they should have had Migos. Atlanta has been dominating the hip-hop scene for many years. They should have had like a 15-minute segment of all Atlanta hot-shots, to at least come and do one song. But yes, I definitely think that's a missed opportunity. Migos is the hottest thing around right now. It's a missed opportunity. But when they miss, Shaq will get the rebound, baby.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image">TomorrowlandShaq, DJ-ing at the Tomorrowland music festival.</div></div></div>Lynch: [Laughs] You're also DJ-ing at this event. I was wondering, what draws you to that as a form of creative expression? What do you like about DJ-ing?O'Neal: I've been doing it since high school and college, '89. I actually DJ-ed in college to get extra money to buy food and all that. When I got to the NBA, I got away from it and started rapping, but the last ten years I've been doing parties, and I've been doing corporate events. It's just fun. Like I said, music and sports really brings people together. Listen, when you're at a party and you play a song that everybody loves, it brings people together. I have a playlist for when I do my corporate work that's called "White Boy Classics." They love it. [Sings emphatically] "Shot through the heart, and you're to blame / Darling you give love..." Man, they just go crazy. You should see Adam and Joe dancing on tables. Lynch: [Laughs] You know, kids these days might not know that you've got a platinum-certified rap album, with '93's "<a href="https://open.spotify.com/album/2oPRn2Dp9Ytk3A4JCp5Gqw?si=SRxi5B7PTEulJUcgd-bGFA">Shaq Diesel</a>." How does your music from the '90s hold up to you? Do you ever go back and listen to it?O'Neal: I go back and listen to it. Lyrics-wise, it still holds up. And again, whenever I do business, I'm big on the team concept. I realized I probably couldn't do that by myself, so I went out and said, "Let me get Notorious B.I.G. Let me call Jay-Z and Nas, B-Real and Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, DJ Quik, Eric Sermon and Redman. Let me give these guys a call and see if they would do it." And the funny thing about all of them is that, when I first made the call, everybody was like, "Oh, you're a basketball player," but then soon as I got in the studio and showed them, they were like, "Man, let's do it. Let's do it." And it was fun.Lynch: You retired from the NBA in 2011, but you haven't retired in any other sense of the word since then. You've stayed busy with commercials, commentary - all that you're doing. When I got my career-ending injury, for some people it would have been, "Oh, I'm not done. I'll rehab and come back." For me it was, "Thank you very much. Now it's time to do something else." We expect fans to pay all this money for us to go out and perform, but if you're going to pay all this money, I'm going to give you a great show. That's what I always wanted to do. So my last year, in Boston, when I was averaging eight, nine points, I didn't feel like The Shaq at all. So, when I got my career-ending injury, I was happy.Lynch: If your prime were today, do you think you'd evolve your game at all to fit the small ball, stretch-fives of today's league?O'Neal: If my prime were today, I wouldn't need to evolve. They would need to evolve around me. You've got big guys shooting jumpers, that's just telling me one thing: that you don't like the contact. If you don't like the contact, and I'm the contact-bringer, you're already out your game. And then people always say, "Well, you have to defend." If you shoot 10 threes, you're not Steph Curry. See what I'm saying? If you shoot 10, it might be a game where you hit seven out of 10, but you're not going to do that on a consistent basis. And if you're bumping with me, then if you shoot, your arms and legs are going to be tired, and that's going to bring your percentage down even more. And people say, "Oh, you'd step out." I'm not stepping out of nothing. I'm staying in the paint. I'm averaging 50. I'm going to make all these big guys cry, and complain, and quit, like I did when I played before, and I'd average 45 without free throws today. These soft, cupcake puppies in the league they got now.Lynch: One last thing, you know, a lot of us have to deal with difficult coworkers. But you've got a uniquely difficult coworker in Charles Barkley, who you've had <a href="https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/shaquille-oneal-reignites-beef-with-charles-barkley-with-barkley-sucks-chants-during-dj-set/">a contentious relationship</a> with. Are you tired of him at all, or how are you putting up with him?O'Neal: Like I always tell people when it pertains to the Kobe relationship or the Charles Barkley relationship, the key word is "respect." You could say what you want to say. I can say what I want to say, but you better respect me, and I'm sure you feel the same way. So as long as you have respect, the team will always thrive. Once you have disrespect, the team will no longer thrive. Everyone knows Charles is opinionated. I'm opinionated, but we respect each other and love each other. I consider him more of an annoying big brother, and we have that dynamic that works really good for us.Lynch: Are there any two teams that you'd like to see in the Super Bowl, since you've got this event coincided with it? O'Neal: Oh, I'd like to see my Cowboys there. How about Patriots and the Cowboys? I love Tom Brady. Yeah.
