Aggarwal has three decades of experience as an IAS officer and a public policy expert. He started off his career as an assistant mechanical engineer at Indian railways in 1991 and has spent 26 years working in the IAS. He has been a District Magistrate in nine districts across the state of Uttar Pradesh. During his tenure as an administrative officer, Aggarwal steered India's first ever national policy on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) as Joint Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, which comes under the ministry of commerce. He later joined Uber in 2019 as the head of public policy for India as well as South Asia. The appointment of Aggarwal as the head of public policy is an important one, especially after the<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/news/facebooks-india-public-policy-head-ankhi-das-quits/articleshow/78894786.cms"> allegations </a>that were raised against former public policy chief Ankhi Das last year. Das had reportedly told staff members at Facebook that punishing the violations by leaders from BJP would damage the company’s business prospects in the country. Even the parliamentary standing committee on information technology, led by member of parliament (MP) Shashi Tharoor, decided to look into these allegations last year. Facebook appoints former IAS officer as head of public policy, a year after Ankhi Das quit

The government transferred the case from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the state police to CBI in August. Five directors of I-Monetary Advisory (IMA) were arrested and jailed last year. "Though the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) alerted the state government and the city police about the illegal activities of the IMA group, including raising illegal deposits from investors through cash or gold jewellery, assuring them hefty interest and returns on maturity, no action was taken against the company for allegedly indulging in the criminal act," a CBI official told IANS earlier. Bhopal, May 10 () In a major administrativereshuffle amid the lockdown, the Madhya Pradesh government hastransferred 50 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers,including some additional chief secretaries, principalsecretaries and a former chief secretary.This is the first major bureaucratic rejig by theBJP-led state government since Shivraj Singh Chouhan becamechief minister in March this year.As per the order issued on Saturday night, formerchief secretary Gopal Reddy has been posted as chairman of therevenue board at Gwalior, I C P Keshari as vice chairman ofthe Narmada Valley Development Authority, Vinod Kumar asadditional chief secretary (ACS) of the general administrationdepartment and J N Kansotia as ACS of the animal husbandrydepartment, official sources said.Besides, Anupam Rajan is posted as principal secretaryof the public relations and higher education departments.The government has removed P Narhari as commissionerof the public relations department and replaced him with SudamP Khade. Narhari has now been made managing director of themarketing federation and will continue as commissioner of theurban development and administration department.As per the order, Sanjay Shukla is posted as principalsecretary of the industrial policy and promotion department,replacing Rajesh Rajora, who is transferred as principalsecretary of the labour department.Neeraj Mandloi is posted as principal secretary of thepublic works department, replacing Malay Shrivastava, who isnow posted as principal secretary of the public healthengineering department.Forty other senior IAS officers, including two whosuffered from COVID-19 and later recovered, have also beentransferred, the sources said. How to become IAS officer in India

New Delhi, Apr 13 () A 29-year-old man was arrested in the national capital for allegedly impersonating an IAS officer to avoid the lockdown restrictions imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus, police said on Monday. Aditya Gupta, a resident of Keshavpuram, was travelling in his car when he was stopped by police at a picket three days ago. His car had a siren and stickers of the Delhi Police and the Government of India, police said. Gupta argued with a policeman on being stopped and claimed that he is a senior IAS officer working with the Union Home Ministry, police said. The policeman asked Gupta to show his identity card but when he failed to do so, the official informed the SHO of Keshavpuram about the incident. On turning suspicious, police grilled the man further and he was busted, a senior police official said. Gupta, who works at a private firm here, had earlier also posed as a senior IAS officer to avoid the lockdown restrictions, he said. A case was registered against Gupta under relevant sections of the IPC and he was arrested, the official said, adding that he was later released on bail. AMP SNESNESNE

Delhi man arrested for impersonating IAS officer to circumvent lockdown

Raipur, Jun 4 () Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday issued orders to suspend an IAS officer accused of raping a 33-year-old woman in Janjgir- Champa district of the state, officials said. The chief minister also ordered that a high-level committee be formed to investigate the case, they said. On Wednesday, an FIR was registered against IAS officer Janak Prasad Pathak for allegedly raping the woman during his tenure as Janjgir-Champa collector last month. "Taking serious congnisance of the allegations against the officer, the chief minister has directed Chief Secretary R P Mandal to suspend him with immediate effect and get the matter probed by a high-level committee," an official statement here said. Pathak was transferred as Director of Land Records in Raipur from Janjgir-Champa on May 26 this year. In her complaint to Janjgir-Champa Superintendent of Police Parul Mathur on Wednesday, the woman alleged that on May 15 this year, the officer, then collector of the district, sexually exploited her on the collectorate premises by threatening to sack her husband, a government employee, a police official said. The accused also sent obscene messages to her, she alleged in her complaint, and provided screenshots of the messages from her mobile phone to the police, he said. The case was registered against Pathak under IPC sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 B (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman). TKP NP NP

Jammu, May 31 () A senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer has tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir following which several bureaucrats and doctors, who attended a meeting with him on Saturday, have gone into self-quarantine, officials said. The officer, who is posted as the principal secretary to the government, was tested for coronavirus infection at Jammu airport on his return from Srinagar and his report came positive on Saturday night, the officials said. He became the first IAS officer to test positive for COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. Last week, the wife and son of an advisor to the Lt Governor tested positive for the disease after they came back from Delhi. The advisor subsequently went into administrative quarantine though his test came negative. The IAS officer, who is also assisting the health and medical education department in COVID-19 management in addition to his own duties, had attended a high-level meeting after his return from Srinagar on Saturday, the officials said. They said several top bureaucrats and doctors attended the meeting, prompting them to go into self-quarantine. They will undergo tests later in the day. Jammu and Kashmir has recorded a total of 2,341 coronavirus positive cases including 1,853 in the valley and 488 in Jammu region till Saturday evening. <ul><li>The Indian government is also stepping up its efforts to hire interns so as to benefit from fresh ideas from engineering students. </li><li>The All India Council for Technical Education (<keyword id="28262" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="AICTE">AICTE</keyword>), along with the Human Resource and Development Ministry (MHRD) has asked the district magistrates from over 700 districts in India to allow engineering students to intern with them. </li><li>The month-long internship, which will take place in June next year will roll in upto 15 students across 150 District Magistrate offices.</li></ul>With internship season at its peak, it’s not just private companies but the government is also stepping up its efforts to hire interns to get fresh ideas from engineering students. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) along with the Human Resource and Development Ministry (MHRD) asked the district magistrates from over 700 districts in India to allow engineering students to intern with them. The idea is to make the youth learn the on-ground implementation of government policies. The month-long internship for June next year will enroll up to 15 students across 150 District Magistrate offices each. This includes offices in UP, Maharashtra and Haryana. However, their remuneration has not been specified yet. "Our vision is that this internship will expose the in-training engineers to how government departments function and in turn, DMs' offices could also benefit from the fresh inputs and ideas these students can bring," the New Indian Express <a href="http://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/2019/oct/31/engineering-students-to-intern-with-district-magistrates-2054989.html">reported</a> citing officials from AICTE. The initiative by the technical education council is aimed to improve the quality of education in the country. “We thought taking students to DM’s office, which is where most central and state policies touch people directly, will be a great venture.” The Indian government is pushing on-the-job training at government offices as well. The MHRD recently announced its <a href="https://www.dqindia.com/mhrd-internship-scheme-2019-online-applications-begin-selected-students-get-stipend-rs-10000/">Internship scheme 2019</a> — for undergraduate and postgraduate students from India and overseas. The interns will assist the ministry with formulation of policies, implementation and reforms education sector.
