What is the salary of an IAS in India

New Delhi, Jan 21 () Crisis-hit realty firm Unitech's newly appointed chairman and managing director (CMD) Yudvir Singh Malik assumed office on Tuesday.
 The central government has superseded Unitech's board on Supreme Court's direction. 
 "Yudvir Singh Malik, IAS (Retd) has been appointed as Chairman &amp; Managing Director of the company in terms of order of the Supreme Court of India, with immediate effect," Unitech said in a regulatory filing.
 "Malik has assumed office today (Tuesday) and held a brief meeting with the key managerial personnel(s) (chief financial officer and company secretary)," it added.
 On Monday, the Supreme Court allowed the Centre to take total management control of the embattled realty firm and appoint a new board of nominee directors. The decision would bring respite to over 12,000 hassled homebuyers of Unitech.
 The top court had approved the name of retired Haryana cadre IAS officer Yudvir Singh Malik as CMD of the new board and directed that the existing board of directors of the company would stand superseded.
 The new board has been asked to come out with a resolution framework within two months.
 It had refused to appoint Unitech Group founder Ramesh Chandra, as a member of the new board saying that it would not be appropriate at this stage.
 Chandra's sons -- Ajay Chandra and Sanjay Chandra -- are in jail after the company defaulted on giving possession of flats to its homebuyers on time.

In a surprise move, the Telangana government slashed the salaries of civil servants — IAS (Indian Administrative Services), IPS (Indian Police Service), IFS (Indian Foreign Services) and other officers — by 60%. While the pension of the retired government employees will also be trimmed to half. “The coronavirus is adversely impacting Telangana’s economic situation. In this background, the state government has to act with caution and foresight,” the official statement said. In fact, the state chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that his salary would also get deducted by a whopping 75% to back the state’s finances and economy.  This comes on the backdrop of mounting losses reported by the revenue department, thanks to the nationwide lockdown that has put a halt to all the services. That accounts to ₹12,000 crore. “The state treasury needs to get Rs 12,000 crore since March 15. Everything is shut — petrol, GST, excise. So, we may have to cut salaries of MLAs and government employees. People have to cooperate – we are in a crisis, this is not a luxury. You have to eat half of what you were eating before,” Rao said. However, the least affected would be the contractual employees — who will have to share 10% of their pay. The move will also impact the employees of the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and other government aided institutions — including Human Rights Commission. “For all public sector undertakings and institutions that are receiving government grants employees, like government employees and retirees, there will be a cut in their salaries,” the statement noted. The state government said that it will contribute nearly ₹500 crore to tackle the pandemic. However, they might need to spend more as the number of infections spiked to 71, leaving eight dead, as on Monday (March 30). "Six people from Telangana who attended a religious congregation at Markaz in Nizamuddin area of New Delhi from 13-15 March succumbed after they contracted coronavirus. Eat half of what you’re now eating, says Telangana CM who cuts government salaries and pensions

New Delhi, Jan 22 () HDFC MD Renu Sud Karnad, Hiranandani group MD Niranjan Hiranandani, Embassy group CMD Jitu Virwani and NBCC's former CMD A K Mittal have been appointed as government's nominee directors on the board of crisis-hit Unitech.
B Sriram (former MD and CEO of IDBI Bank), and Girish Kumar Ahuja (Independent Director, SBI), have also been appointed on the board, which has been superseded by the central government on Supreme Court's direction.
In a regulatory filing, Unitech informed that Niranjan Hiranandani, Renu Sud Karnad, Girish Kumar Ahuja, Jitu Virwani, B Sriram and Anoop Kumar Mittai have been appointed as nominee directors of the central government on the board of directors of Unitech Ltd, with immediate effect:
"Furthermore, intimation of order(s) of central government regarding Prabhakar Singh would be issued separately," it added.
On Tuesday, Unitech's newly appointed chairman and managing director (CMD) Yudvir Singh Malik assumed office on Tuesday.
"Yudvir Singh Malik, IAS (Retd) has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of the company in terms of order of the Supreme Court of India, with immediate effect," Unitech had said in a regulatory filing.
"Malik has assumed office today (Tuesday) and held a brief meeting with the key managerial personnel(s) (chief financial officer and company secretary)," it added.
On Monday, the Supreme Court allowed the Centre to take total management control of the embattled realty firm and appoint a new board of nominee directors. The decision would bring respite to over 12,000 hassled homebuyers of Unitech.
The top court had approved the name of retired Haryana cadre IAS officer Yudvir Singh Malik as CMD of the new board and directed that the existing board of directors of the company would stand superseded.
The new board has been asked to come out with a resolution framework within two months.
It had refused to appoint Unitech Group founder Ramesh Chandra, as a member of the new board saying that it would not be appropriate at this stage.
Chandra's sons -- Ajay Chandra and Sanjay Chandra -- are in jail after the company defaulted on giving possession of flats to its homebuyers on time.

Government nominee directors appointed on Unitech board

Parts of the Ohio Turnpike have been shut down because of pileups involving dozens of vehicles.
Heavy, blowing snow caused the crashes, which are mostly concentrated in Sandusky and Erie counties, the Associated Press <a href="http://www.ohio.com/news/2-dead-after-pileups-involving-at-least-50-vehicles-on-snowy-ohio-turnpike-1.472660">reports</a>. 
Two people have been killed in a massive 50-car pileup and one state trooper was seriously injured when he was pinned between two vehicles.
The traffic and road conditions are so bad that emergency workers are having trouble responding to the vehicles that are stuck on the roads. Stuck vehicles might have to wait until the roads clear before they're able to be towed.
In addition to the larger pileup, which stretched two miles, there was another, smaller pileup on the turnpike about 10 miles east.

There's A Huge, 2-Mile-Long Pileup On A Snowy Ohio Turnpike [PHOTOS]

Mumbai, Mar 12 () Jet Airways' Committee of Creditors (CoC) on Thursday decided to approach the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to seek two months extension of deadline for submission of bids, which expired on Tuesday. The CoC may seek an extension in the deadline in the face of no potential bidder coming forward and also due to the ongoing coronavirus concerns as it feels that it may not get the desired results if it were to go for liquidation of assets at this stage, according to sources privy to the development. The bankers' committee had on February 18 set the new deadline of March 10, for submission of bids for the grounded airline after South American conglomerate Synergy Group and New Delhi-based Prudent ARC failed to meet the deadline. According to sources, Synergy Group had backed out of the bidding process over the slot issues. The March 10 deadline was set after Russia's Far East Asia Development Fund evinced interest in Jet Airways. Against this backdrop, the CoC extended the deadline for submission of bids to March 10. The cash-strapped airline, which was grounded in April 2019, owes more than Rs 8,000 crore to banks, with those from the public sector having significant exposure. The NCLT on June 20, 2019, had admitted the insolvency petition filed by the lenders' consortium led by State Bank against Jet Airways.The tribunal has also appointed Ashish Chhauchharia of Grant Thornton as the resolution professional for the crippled airline. A <keyword id="107096" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Tesla">Tesla</keyword> Model S car caught fire on Wednesday in Smyrna, Tennessee, according to <a href="http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/23581-Ugh-Another-Model-S-fire-2013-11-06">Tesla Motors Club</a> blog <a href="http://www.valuewalk.com/2013/11/tesla-model-s-fire-third/">(via ValueWalk).</a>
This is the third Tesla to Model S vehicle to catch fire in the past six weeks, a <a href="http://in.reuters.com/article/2013/11/07/autos-tesla-model-s-fire-idINDEE9A60A520131107">Tesla spokesperson confirmed to Reuters.</a>
Tesla again pointed out that the fire was the result of an accident and not "spontaneous."

A Tesla <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/report-another-tesla-model-s-caught-fire-after-a-crash-video-2013-10">Model S caught fire in Mexico</a> back in October after the car crashed through a concrete wall and into a tree. 
Before that, another Model S caught fire after colliding with a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-is-tanking-2013-10">large metallic object on Washington State Route 167</a>, in early October.
At the time <a href="http://www.teslamotors.com/blog/model-s-fire">Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to his blog</a> to defend the Model S saying, he reiterated that it was because of the powerful impact with the metal object on the road. He also said the fire department was wrong to "puncture the metal firewall, as the newly created holes allowed the flames to then vent upwards into the front trunk section of the Model S."
"For consumers concerned about fire risk, there should be absolutely zero doubt that it is safer to power a car with a battery than a large tank of highly flammable liquid," Musk wrote.
But in its <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-is-tanking-2013-10">10-Q Tesla has previously pointed out</a> that the lithium ion batter cells "have been observed to catch fire or vent smoke and flame, and such events have raised concerns, and future events may lead to additional concerns, about the batteries used in automotive applications."
