With the maximum number of transactions worth over Rs 6,800 crores and a record 53.2 lakh transactions, it not only leads among private sector banks, it is twice the next bank in the list.

	According to RBI data, the bank has recorded transactions nearly worth Rs 16,000 crores, in fiscal 2015.
 “As the only bank with a dedicated mobile payments gateway, <keyword id="6653" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="ICICI-bank">ICICI bank</keyword> has the highest success rate in a mobile banking transaction in the country,” said <keyword id="128186" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rajiv-Sabharwal">Rajiv Sabharwal</keyword>, Executive Director, <keyword id="42456" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="ICICI">ICICI</keyword> Bank. 

	The unique payment gateway has allowed the bank to customize the app based on transactional needs. Clearly, the technological investment in upgrading the app has paid off as shopping and merchandise has recorded 700% growth in Q1 alone, when compared against last year. 
 

	Currently, there are nearly 125 services on the mobile banking app.
 

	Prepaid Mobile Recharge and Shopping are the key features of the app that is bringing traffic to it. 
 

	Some of the other features that have been added to iMobile include Forex, buying mutual funds on mobile for wealth customers, adding payee through iMobile for fund transfers 24x7 and personalized pre-qualified loan offers to customers on the platform.
 

	“Our internet plus mobile transactions are 60% of our transactions. Further, over 50% of our transactions on mobile are happening beyond the top 20 cities, which mean that our ability to reach out to customers in a much wider geography is significantly better and it is also flowing from the fact that we have comprehensive services. So, we have not only looked at bigger markets, but also customers in the smaller markets,” added Sabharwal.
 

	The bank has a plan to grow mobile banking transactions to Rs 80,000 crore by end of this fiscal.

With this service, users of Pockets can make cashless payments from their smart phones using their debit card by simply scanning a mVisa Quick Response (QR) code at a merchant location without swiping the card at an EDC machine.

How ICICI became the leader of mobile banking in India

New Delhi, Jan 21 () ICICI Bank on Tuesday launched cardless cash withdrawal facility from its ATMs with a per day transaction limit of Rs 20,000.
 This service enables customers to withdraw cash from over 15,000 ATMs of the bank by simply raising a request on iMobile, its mobile banking application.
 "It is a simple and convenient way to withdraw cash without using a debit card," the bank said in a statement.
 The service can be used for self-withdrawal when customers do not wish to carry the debit card.
 The daily transaction limit as well as per transaction limit is set at Rs 20,000, it added.
 Speaking on the launch, Executive Director of ICICI Bank Anup Bagchi said the bank will continue to focus on innovations in technology at all channels and touch-points that will bring more convenience to the customers.
 The bank's consolidated total assets stood at Rs 12,88,190 crore at September 30, 2019. It is present across 15 countries. NKD ANS

New Delhi, Mar 22 () Private sector banks HDFC and ICICI have asked customers to use digital means for transactions and said they have reduced their staff in office as a precautionary measure against the spread of coronavirus.HDFC Bank has changed its working hours and will function from 10 am to 2 pm till March 31, except on Saturday. The private sector lender has also temporarily suspended passbook update and foreign currency purchase services."In the interest of public health and safety, we will be withdrawing the following services temporarily ofpassbook updates and foreign currency purchase," it said in a communication sent to its customers on Sunday. ICICI Bank informed its customers through SMS that "our branches shall remain open with required hygiene steps and reduced staff". "For the same reason, our contact centre will also function with reduced staff. We urge you to stay safe and bank from home using iMobile/Internet Banking for all essential banking services," it said in the communication. How to withdraw cash from ATM without debit card

Since <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=demonetisation&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">demonetisation</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=digital+payments&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">digital payments</a> have surged as more and more Indians are paying through online methods and <keyword id="6358031" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="digital-wallets">digital wallets</keyword>. 
 However, whenever we talk about online transactions, we cannot ignore <keyword id="137092" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="cyber-security">cyber security</keyword> and cyber crimes. 
 
Worldwide, there have been many cases of cyber crimes where hackers invaded security and made transactions. 
 From the Indian context, <keyword id="6358577" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Digital-Payments">digital payments</keyword> are also prone to such risks. A study conducted by the Centre for Software and IT Management (CSITM) at <keyword id="421693" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institute-of-Management-Bangalore">Indian Institute of Management Bangalore</keyword> focuses on the risks associated with Indian mobile phone based payment systems. 
 
The <a href="http://www.iimb.ernet.in/sites/default/files/iimb-csitm-security-issues-in-mobile-payment.pdf">study</a> found out many popular apps such as <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=paytm&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Paytm</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=freecharge&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Freecharge</a>, <keyword id="1461878" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bhim">BHIM</keyword>, etc were not secure. 
 The experiments were conducted with five popular mobile payment systems, in four broad categories – wallets (<keyword id="6357120" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="PayTM">PayTM</keyword>, <keyword id="6377963" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Freecharge">FreeCharge</keyword>), direct link with user’s bank (BHIM), specific bank’s app for account holders (iMobile by ICICI Bank), and basic USSD service (dialing *99#). 
 
Prof. Rahul De, Chairperson, CSITM, and faculty in the Decision Sciences and Information Systems area at IIM Bangalore said the study found serious privacy concerns with all the services studied. For instance, while in many apps like Freecharge, the wallets are not directly linked to third party vendors (such as Uber or BigBasket), apps such as PayTM allow for automatic linkage with the vendors, and the vendors can automatically deduct amounts without the explicit consent of the user. 
 
As per the study, a recurring security concern was that many of the apps such as Paytm, Freecharge do not automatically log the users out, and anyone having access to the phone can make financial transactions through these apps. 
 
This risk is highest if the user loses or misplaces her/his mobile phone, and higher still if the phone is unlocked or unprotected. However, apps such as iMobile, BHIM have auto-logout/ session time-out features. 
 
“We also observed inadequate management of the transactions and no evidence of systematic analysis of transaction patterns. The lack of these features is a potential security violation. However, even while we were conducting the study, we observed that the features of the apps and services were constantly evolving and changing,” said Prof De.

 <keyword id="6653" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="ICICI-bank">ICICI bank</keyword> said it has crossed one-lakh Virtual Payment Addresses (<keyword id="2151334" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="VPA">VPA</keyword>) on Unified Payments Interface (<keyword id="6358921" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="UPI">UPI</keyword>) within three weeks of its launch. 
 So as to further increase the usage of UPI, the bank has announced partnership with <keyword id="2834772" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aditya-Birla-Fashion">Aditya Birla Fashion</keyword> and Retail Limited (ABFRL) and <keyword id="156828" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hindustan-Petroleum-Corporation-Limited">Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited</keyword> (HPCL) to offer UPI based payments at its retail outlets, making it the largest forthcoming deployment of in-store payments using UPI. 
 UPI is available on two of the bank's customer facing mobile <keyword id="6354778" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Banking">banking</keyword> applications - 'Pockets' and 'iMobile'. Anyone, including <keyword id="3694196" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="non-icici-bank">non-ICICI Bank</keyword> customers can access UPI by creating their VPA on 'Pockets'. 
 With this, customers who have their VPA on ‘Pockets’ as well as ICICI Bank customers with ‘iMobile’ will be able to pay at over 6,500 HPCL petrol pumps and more than 2,000 stores of ABFRL across the country. The customers also can shop from Louis Philippe, Peter England, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, <keyword id="3694195" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="planet-fashion-and-linen-club">Planet Fashion and Linen Club</keyword> among others. 
 "UPI is a path-breaking concept which will enable convenient person-to-person and merchant payments using mobile phones. It is the first time in the world that a project of such a scale is being introduced to customers. We intend to continue exploring more such potential partnerships which will go a long way in popularising the usage of UPI," <keyword id="225262" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chanda-Kochchar">Chanda Kochchar</keyword>, MD and CEO, ICICI Bank told ET. 
 VPA acts as a financial address for a user in lieu of their 16 digital bank account number and the 11 digit <keyword id="373618" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IFSC">IFSC</keyword> code. Once the customers are registered for VPA, they can send and receive money from their smartphones without having to go to the bank and enter their bank account information or net banking user id and password. 
 
Users can also make payments using UPI 24*7 on all days including bank holidays. Payment can also be made to merchants from their mobile phones.
