I tested the Rose Quartz colour variant of the device.<br /><br /><div type="image" title="right side" msid="115487089" hostid="261" sizebytes="52702" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Rounded corners on the Pixel 9 Pro XL&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div><br />The device comes with flat sides, with rounded corners for its aluminium frame, that give it a premium feel while holding. At first look, you may get an iPhone-like look, with people even mistaking it for an iPhone during my usage, but this clears up immediately after looking at the pill-shaped camera module.<br /><br />The aluminium frame comes with a glossy finish and is slightly slippery. The aluminium frame also attracts dust fingerprint smudges easily. For these reasons, it might be a good idea to use the device with a case.<br /><br /><div type="image" title="Camera" msid="115487108" hostid="261" sizebytes="28950" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The pill-shaped camera module&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div><br />It comes with a large pill-shaped camera module that houses the triple camera setup, a temperature sensor and the LED flash. The display is excellent, with the high refresh rate offering a good experience while gaming and watching content.<br /><br /><h2>Software and performance</h2>The Pixel 9 Pro XL runs on Android 14 out of the box and is promised to get seven years of Android updates and security patches. The software is the highlight of the Pixel lineup and the Pixel 9 Pro XL is no different. The device offers an Android experience as imagined by Google, the operating system maker.<br /><br />As expected, the device comes loaded with AI features in the form of Gemini. To enable users to make the most out of the AI features, Google is offering a one-year premium subscription to Pixel 9 Pro XL users, giving them access to Gemini Advanced, 2TB of Google Drive storage and more.<br /><br />The device comes pre-installed with Pixel Studio, a new GenAI image generation app from Google, allowing users to generate images easily on the go.<br /><br />You also get access to Gemini Live, a live-chat version of Gemini, which allows for voice-enabled interactions.<br /><br />In what might excite most photography enthusiasts like myself, the device also comes with a more powerful Magic Editor, giving access to a ton of new tools.<br /><br />Talking about AI and photography, the new Add Me feature is excellent, especially for those who often end up being the ones to take group pictures and regret not being in them. The new Add Me feature allows you to take a group picture and then hand your phone to your friend and then join the group for another picture, then using AI to blend them into one image to make the perfect group picture.<br /><br />I used this feature during one of my trips and found it to be quite useful. Once you get the hang of it and remember to stand in the correct place, it works quite well.<br /><br />The Pixel 9 Pro XL is powered by the Google Tensor G4 chipset built on Samsung’s 4nm process. It comes with 16GB of RAM and offers up to 512GB of internal storage.<br /><br />If you are hoping for a drastic performance improvement compared to the predecessor, you might be disappointed. It offers an incremental improvement in performance but can easily handle everything that you throw at it.<br /><br />One area the chipset and the device has improved a lot over the Pixel 8 Pro is thermal management and proper connectivity. These were some of my biggest issues with the last-gen devices and Google has made a significant improvement in this aspect.<br /><br />The Pixel 9 Pro XL is powered by a 5,060mAh battery with 37W wired and 23W wireless charging support. During the first half of 2024, for every 20 individuals who preferred a ready-to-move-in house, 25 respondents chose a new launch or under-construction property. This ratio was at 32:21 in the first half of 2021.<br /><br />Some of the reasons why over 53% of homebuyers are dissatisfied with the current available options when it comes to <keyword id="20254620" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="affordable-housing" source="keywords">affordable housing</keyword> are location accessibility (92%), poor quality construction design (84%), and small unit sizes (68%). Even the supply in the affordable housing category across the top 7 Indian cities has considerably shrunk over the last 3 years, from 26% in 2021 to just 17% as of September 2024.<br /><br />However, this differed based on the city. However, the most common budget range for houses remained between Rs 45-90 lakh, with 35% of respondents choosing the same.<br /><br />As far as under-construction properties are concerned, a staggering 98% of respondents prefer timely project completion, 93% choose improved construction quality, and 72% prefer a well-lit, ventilated home. <br /><br />The report further noted that Indians are increasingly inclined towards larger, more luxurious living spaces. 3BHKs and apartments remained the most preferred choice of residence and property type, with 51% and 58% of respondents opting for them, respectively. Residential plots were also seen gaining traction, particularly in southern India, with 30% of respondents in Chennai, 29% in Bengaluru, and 27% in Hyderabad preferring them.<br /><br /><keyword id="21483825" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="home-loan-interest-rates" source="keywords">Home loan interest rates</keyword> also significantly influenced home buying decisions. If the rates are below 8.5%, it would have minimal impact on buying decisions for around 71% of respondents. In Pune’s Hinjewadi, rent prices have surged by 52%, while property values went up by just 31%. Similarly, in Kolkata’s EM Bypass, rents rose by 46%, but property prices saw a much smaller bump of 15%.<br /><br />But there are cities where buying makes even more sense because property prices are outpacing rental costs. In Hyderabad’s Gachibowli, for instance, while rent went up by 50%, property values soared by 70%. This trend is also seen in NCR’s Sohna Road, where rents increased by 40%, but property prices grew by 54%.<br /><h2>Is renting really worth it?</h2>Let’s say you’re living in a 2BHK flat in Bengaluru, paying Rs 50,000 a month in rent. It might seem like an okay deal at first, but when you look at the long-term cost, things get tricky. Dr Prashant Thakur, Regional Director &amp; Head of Research at ANAROCK, breaks it down: "One-year payable rent for the individual is Rs 50,000 x 12 = Rs 6,00,000. For the next 10 years, the total rental outgo, including an annual rental increase of 7%, will be around Rs 83 lakh. This rental outgo is almost 69% of the total cost of this property — and this is just an expense with no investment value accrued."<br /><div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="113367496" title="I bought my dream home, but the difficult process and higher cost sometimes make me wish I&amp;#39;d stuck with renting" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div>What does that mean? Dr. Thakur explains, “If the individual opts to buy the property via a home loan, has the financial wherewithal to make a 20% down payment, and borrows the remaining amount over a 10-year tenure at 9.5% interest rate, such a purchase is definitely profitable. Instead of spending a huge amount on rent, the individual can pay monthly EMIs and ultimately own the physical asset after a ten-year period.”<br /><br />With this approach, the monthly EMIs may be slightly higher than what you’re paying in rent, but there’s a key difference — you’re working towards owning your home. After 10 years, the home is yours, and you don’t have to worry about rent going up year after year.<br /><h2>Homeownership isn’t just about the numbers</h2>While the math might lean towards buying, it’s not just about finances. For some people, renting makes more sense, especially if they don’t plan to settle down in one place for a long time. Job mobility, financial stability, and lifestyle choices all factor into this decision.<br /><br />However, something interesting happened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many people, including millennials who had previously been all about renting, started reconsidering. In the US, inflation hit a 40-year high of more than 9% in early 2022 and was still above the Federal Reserve's 2% target this September.</p><p>"Trump's victory is the most powerful example this year of a political and economic environment that has been brutal for incumbents around the world and brought home the fact that inflation is political kryptonite," Tina Fordham, an independent strategist and advisor, said in a LinkedIn post this week.</p><p>A key consequence of inflation has been central banks raising <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/personal-finance/banking/what-is-interest">interest rates</a> to curb spending, hiring, and investing, cooling price growth. In a CNN exit poll, 72% of Americans said they were dissatisfied with the country's direction.</p><p>Louis Perron, a political consultant author of "Beat the Incumbent: Proven Strategies and Tactics to Win Elections," said in a note this week that elections featuring an incumbent are "foremost a referendum on the incumbent."</p><p>In Harris' case, he said "it would have probably taken a miracle to overcome the circumstances with respect to inflation and the border."</p><p>People "can't pay for groceries with Democracy or reproductive rights," he added. "If the mood of the electorate is so sour, people just want to stop the bleeding."</p><p>Similarly, Deutsche Bank's Reid wrote that voters are disappointed by how slowly their lives are improving amid cooler economic growth.</p><p>He said they don't buy that incumbents can tackle immigration, some incumbent governments have had scandals, and voters have become "much more willing to change their vote from election to election."</p>

It comes with a 16-inch 2.5K OLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, a 240Hz refresh rate, 0.2 ms response time and 500 nits of brightness, which is excellent for playing indoors and outdoors.<br /><br />  <div type="image" title="D" msid="115055432" hostid="261" sizebytes="35080" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 display&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div><br />The colours look great as it comes with 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The high-resolution display and the high refresh rate make it a treat to game on the device. I played games like Starfield, Red Dead Redemption 2 and more on the laptop, with the device offering excellent visuals in each game.<br /><br /><h2>Performance</h2>The Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 is powered with AMD’s new Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, a new chipset aimed at offering AI-centric features. It is part of the company’s Ryzen AI Strix Point hardware and has been paired with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU.<br /><br />The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor features 12 Cores and 24 Threads. This includes four performance Zen5 cores and eight efficiency Zen5c Cores. It runs at up to 80W TDP.<br /><br />The laptop comes with 32GB DDR5X 7500MHz RAM. For storage, it offers a 2TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD. While the RAM is soldered on and cannot be expanded, Asus has provided an extra M.2 2280 slot.<br /><br />As mentioned earlier, I tested the laptop with heavy games such as Red Dead Redemption 2, Starfield and Forza Horizon 5. The laptop was able to easily handle the games at maximum settings. The laptop can handle AAA games with ease at Ultra settings. The high refresh rate also allowed me to enjoy games such as Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant.<br /><br />Coming to its AI features, the new Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chipset features the XDNA 2 NPU, which is designed for AI. The NPU can process up to 80 TOPS.<br /><br />The device comes with Ryzen AI, a suite of AI-powered apps from AMD. It includes the image generation tool Amuse AI, the LM Studio assistant, and more. While there’s still some way to go for AI-powered apps, the Ryzen AI is an excellent addition to the powerful laptop as it helps in boosting productivity. The device can also make use of AI capabilities baked into Windows and Microsoft Office 365.<br /><br />The laptop is equipped with a 90Whr battery and like most gaming laptops, battery life is not the device’s strongest point. During gaming, it offers around two hours of battery life at full performance. With normal usage, you can get around five to six hours of battery life out of the device.<br /><br /><h2>Verdict</h2>The Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 ticks off all the right boxes, including a premium design, powerful hardware, excellent display and more. The company has also added a ton of AI features that make use of the powerful NPU offered with the processor.<br /><br />Overall, this is an excellent option for those looking for a powerful gaming laptop that can also be used for work. One of the cons of the laptop is its battery life. If you want to use the laptop for several hours on the go, the Zephyrus G16 may not be the right option. However, if you don’t mind plugging in the laptop while using it, you should have no issues.<br /><br />Another thing that you need to consider is the price. The IPO of ACME Solar, which opened for subscription yesterday, has been subscribed 1.81x in the retail investors category and 0.6x overall. The offer, worth Rs 2,900 crore, is a combination of Rs 2,395 crore of fresh issue and Rs 505 crore worth of OFS (offer for sale). With a price band of Rs 275-289, the IPO will close for subscription tomorrow. Retail investors can invest in a minimum of 1 lot of 51 shares, bringing the total amount to Rs 14,739. The company is set to list on both NSE and BSE on November 13, 2024. <br /><br />Despite the company's strong presence in the renewable energy space, the company's GMP (grey market premium) remains muted, almost negligible, trading at Rs 0 today. ACME's GMP has been dipping ever since November 30, 2024, when it stood at Rs 30.  The allotment of shares is scheduled for November 11, 2024, with a tentative listing date on the BSE and NSE set for November 13, 2024.<br /><br />The company amassed Rs 1,300.5 crore via the issue of 4.5 crore equity shares from anchor investors ahead of its IPO. Around 1.5 crore equity shares, or about 33.4% of the total anchor book, were lapped up by 8 domestic mutual fund houses through a total of 17 schemes. <br /><h2>About the company<br /></h2>ACME Solar is one of India's top 10 renewable energy-independent power producers. To date, the company has developed a total of 2,719 MW of solar power projects. In terms of financial performance, over the last three fiscal years, the company has reported (on a consolidated basis) a total income of Rs 1,562.73 crore in FY22, Rs 1,361.67 crore in FY23, and Rs 1,466.27 crore in FY24. <br /><br />In terms of net profit/loss, ACME Solar incurred a net profit of Rs 62.01 crore in FY22, a loss of Rs 3.15 crore in FY23, and Rs 697.78 crore in FY24. For the first quarter of FY25, the company's revenue from operations stood at Rs 340.01 crore, while earning a net profit of Rs 1.39 crore. <br /><br />The company intends to utilize the IPO proceeds to repay and prepay part of its outstanding borrowings, and also for general corporate purposes. However, the company is not without its fair share of risks. Around 63.22% of its FY24 revenue is concentrated in just three Indian states—Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana. <br /><br />Also, the company's business is highly dependent on its top 10 off-takers, which contributed 95.42% to its revenue as of the quarter ended June 30, 2024, 87.48% to its revenue in FY23, and 81.11% to the company's income in FY22. The loss of any of these off-takers can have adverse effects on their business, financial condition, results of operations, and cash flows.<br /><br />Moreover, not only does its growth depend on winning highly competitive project bids, but it is also highly reliant on government-owned transmission grids and infrastructure. <br /><br /><h2>Should you subscribe?<br /></h2>Per Bajaj Broking, the issue appears to be aggressively priced, yet they would recommend subscribing to the IPO for the long term. "Over the past three fiscal years, the company has achieved an average EPS of Rs. 6.44 and an average RoNW of 13.95%. The issue is priced at a P/BV of 7.77 based on its NAV of Rs 37.19 as of June 30, 2024. When annualizing FY25 earnings to the post-IPO fully diluted equity base, the asking price results in a P/E of 3211.11, while based on FY24 earnings, the P/E stands at 25.06". <br /><br />However, there are financial concerns that cannot be ignored. "FY24 appears to be an exceptional year with significantly boosted profits, but otherwise, the company has shown inconsistent top and bottom lines over the reported periods. Its debt-equity ratio of 3.89 as of June 30, 2024, is notably high and raises concerns," it adds. <br /><br />According to Anand Rathi Research, the IPO can be subscribed to in the long run. "At the upper price band, the company is valued at a P/E of 30.17x, with an EV/EBITDA of 22.4x and a market cap of Rs 1,74,868 million post-issue of equity shares and a return on net worth of 26.93%. We believe that the IPO is richly priced," adds the note.
