The Karnataka State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed the hospital and two <keyword id="20000183" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="doctors" source="keywords">doctors</keyword> to pay Padmavathi, a resident of Jayanagar, Rs 50,000 as litigation expenses. It has also directed <keyword id="22497673" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="New-India-Assurance-Co-Ltd" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="New India Assurance Co Ltd" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="New India Assurance Co Ltd">New India Assurance Co Ltd</keyword>, which had issued a policy covering the hospital expenses, to pay her Rs five lakh for "the professional and <keyword id="21130249" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="medical-negligence" source="keywords">medical negligence</keyword> caused." The then 32-year-old woman underwent the surgery on September 29, 2004 at the <keyword id="22497672" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Deepak-Hospital" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Deepak Hospital" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Deepak Hospital">Deepak Hospital</keyword>, with the two doctors allegedly performing the hernia operation. On completion of the surgery, her appendix was also removed, according to the Commission's order last month. Immediately, on the next day, she complained of severe pain for which she was prescribed some pain killers and assured that it is post surgery discomfort and that it will get cured. She suffered acute stomach and back pain for several years and was also admitted in the same hospital twice later, the order noted. Padmavathi later approached another private hospital here in 2010 and during a scan, it was noticed that some foreign body existed in the abdominal and back portion of her body and it was suggested to her to get it (surgical needle) removed. She then underwent surgery and the 3.2 cm surgical needle was removed following which she approached the consumer forum with a complaint the following year. The forum noted that the complainant was aged about 32 years, when she underwent all these surgeries and removal of the surgical needle. "Definitely she suffered severe pain and inconvenience till removal of the surgical needle," the order stated. Hence, she is entitled to get "global compensation" of Rs five lakh and the insurance company (New India Assurance Company Limited) is directed to pay the amount while the two doctors are liable to pay litigation expenses of Rs 50,000 to the complainant, it further added.

The letter has now gone viral on LinkedIn and people are reacting strongly to the news, calling to end the glorification of hustle culture. <h2>26-year-old dies, mother blames work stress </h2>In her letter to the company, Anna’s mother begins by writing that the young employee passed her CA Exams in November 2023 and joined the company in March this year. "She was full of life, dreams and excitement for the future," she added. She then writes how Anna was thrilled to be a part of the company but passed away four months later, on July 20. "My world collapsed when I received the devastating news," she wrote. In the letter, Anna's mother further explained how the work culture at EY is extremely toxic and that they burden newcomers with "backbreaking" tasks. She added that Anna experienced "anxiety, sleeplessness, and stress" soon after starting her new job. She also added how Anna was working even on the day of her convocation and insisted on getting back to work after they took her to a doctor after she complained of chest pain. "Since she had been complaining of chest constriction upon reaching her PG late at night for the past week, we took her to the hospital in Pune. Her ECG was normal and the cardiologist came to allay our fears, telling us she wasn't getting enough sleep and was eating very late." Anna's mother added that her manager would "reschedule meetings during cricket matches and assign her work at the end of the day." When Anna voiced her concerns, she was told that working late at night is something they all do. “Anna would return to her room utterly exhausted, sometimes collapsing on the bed without even changing her clothes, only to be bombarded with messages asking for more reports. The doctor said the patient just had a single mother and was not doing well financially, so he himself, along with Aishwaryam trust and some other heart patients came forward to help the 19-year-old. "We are the largest centre doing heart transplant. We are doing almost 100 per year. One of the biggest number in the world I would say. And if there are no Indians then, it will be allotted to a foreigner. In this situation, this girl was waiting for almost ten months. Luckily, she got the heart," said Dr Suresh Rao, Co-director at the Institute of Heart and Lung Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support. "She is from Pakistan and they did not have any resources. When they contacted, Dr Bala was generous enough to ask them to come here, because they did not have any money. He is the one who actually raised the money. Aishwarya trust has funded her transplant. At the same time, money allotted was not enough so we asked some of our patients. They were generous enough to donate money. She is fine, doing well. Her case was a severe one, not many such cases undergo a heart transplant," he added. The fact is it was done, and it's a war crime in a legal sense."Multiple Ukrainian officials have also called the missile attack a war crime, and a UN official said that "intentionally directing attacks against a protected hospital is a war crime and perpetrators must be held to account."Ukraine's new air defense systems will bolster the country's ability to prevent strikes like this, but they likely won't fully meet its defense needs. But she was having trouble scheduling it because of her busy schedule as a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/tiktok-medical-student-ultrasound-pregnancy-millions-views-fake-2022-10">medical student.</a>There was also an unexpected delay in the delivery of the flamboyant maternity gown she'd ordered from Etsy for the occasion."It was running late," Kunzelman said. "I was tracking it every day, but I figured I had a couple more weeks." The original idea, she said, was to do an atmospheric maternity shoot in the desert near her home in Arizona. Her mom, Lori, and her sister, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.alexiskunzelman.com/">Lexi Pratt</a> — both professional photographers — were in charge of the pictures.But Kunzelman's body had other plans. She noticed that her hands and feet became swollen during the 36th week of her pregnancy. Family members, including Kunzelman's sister-in-law and niece, did her hair, nails, and makeup."I was attached to all these monitors," she said. "They couldn't paint one of my nails because the pulse oximeter was clamped onto that finger."Next, they carefully helped her ease into the $140 floaty, pink dress. "I had an IV on my arm that we somehow taped under the fabric," she said. "Looking back, I've got no clue how we did it."Pratt, who said she's "always thrived in chaos," had less than 10 minutes to take all the photographs before a nurse was supposed to check her sister's vitals.
