The auspicious time of Holika Dahan is decided keeping three things in mind- the date of the full moon, the time after sunset (called Pradosh Kaal) and the fact whether or not there is Bhadra Kaal. "If there is Bhadra along with full moon, Holika Dahan can be done during the Puchha Kaal i.e. towards the end of Bhadra. In Lucknow, the Holika Dahan can be performed on the intervening night of March 6 and 7 between 12.40 a.m. to 2 a.m., because the full moon date will remain till 6.10 p.m. on the evening of March 7 and also due to the fact that Holika Dahan is carried out after sunset. Colour would be played on March 8 on the day of Parewa." Pandit Ram Keval <keyword id="206800" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tewari" source="Orion">Tewari</keyword> said: "This year Holika Dahan will take place on the intervening night of March 6 and 7. The time could be between 12.40 a.m. to 5.56 a.m. This means Holi will be played only after 24 hours of Holika Dahan which is the rarest of rare occasions. "Last time it happened was 28 years ago on March 26, 1994. Holika Dahan muhurta was only for a few hours in the night, because that year also the Purnima Tithi fell on two days, starting after sunset and ending before sunset the next day." We will make the necessary arrangements for them and communicate to them asking them to celebrate Holi together," Tikait told. He said, "Whenever there are festivals celebrated at the India-Pakistan border, there are pleasantries exchanged at the border, so why can't it be done here at the Ghazipur border? If pleasantries are not exchanged, then it will mean that Ghazipur border is more dangerous than Pakistan border. "If all the security forces and police officials do not exchange Holi pleasantries with them, then we (farmers) will think that the Central government does not want to talk to us. The Delhi Police will be given an invitation to join us for Holi celebrations as they, too, are on police duty away from their homes. Everyone should be present at the border in the evening on the occasion of 'Holika Dahan'." Asked will you also invite the government on Holi celebrations? To this, Rakesh Tikait said, "We (farmers) will only invite the security forces and policemen at the border and not the Central government. Farmer leader Buta Singh Burjgill said <keyword id="45092" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="farmers">farmers</keyword> along with trade unions will protest the hike in fuel prices and privatisation of <keyword id="6360676" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="railways">railways</keyword> on March 15. "Memoranda will be submitted to district magistrates against the rising prices of diesel, petrol and <keyword id="6360114" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="lpg">LPG</keyword>. Protests will be held at railway stations across the country against privatisation," he said. "We will observe a complete Bharat bandh on March 26, when our protest against the three farm laws completes four months. On March 19, the farmers will observe "Mandi Bachao-Kheti Bachao" day, he said. The coronovirus scare in the country ahead of Holi on March 10 has cast a shadow on the festival of colours, with traders reporting lesser customers out to buy dry and wet colours and water guns. The excitement over the festival of colours among children is subdued in National Capital Region, including Delhi. Be it children or the elderly, almost all seem to have the virus on their minds ahead of Dulhandi on March 10. In Greater Noida, the stalls at various malls are adorned with packets of colours, gulal and 'pichkaris'. However, only a few customers could be seen visiting the stalls. A Delhi-based businessman rued that there was hardly any demand for Chinese colours this Holi. Authorities too have appealed to the people to take preventive measures. Many leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, have announced to stay away from the "Holi Milan" gatherings. Ambeshree, a Class III student of a well-known school in central Delhi, says: "I will not play Holi this time around in the wake of the coronavirus scare." Another student Ishaan told IANS that he would not play Holi since his Class X Board exams are underway. "People apply colours and gulal on your face and other body parts. However, it is advisable to do a 'namaste' instead of shaking hands as a preventive measure against spread of coronavirus. So, playing Holi means ignoring doctors' advice," he said. In the wake of reporting of 30 COVID-19 positive cases in India so far, events like 'Holika Dahan', 'Holi Milan' and 'Holi Rain Dance' have been cancelled at a few places in the national capital. On the other hand, noted cardiologist KK Agarwal urged Holi revellers not to be worried unnecessarily. "If someone comes in contact with a coronavirus-infected patient, only then is it worrisome," he said. He, however, advised people suffering from fever or cold to stay away from playing with water colours on Holi.
