It has a number of stealth features, including armoured-protection systems, night attack capability and crash-worthy landing gear. The LCH can be deployed in high-altitude areas and all-weather combat conditions, thanks to requisite agility, manoeuvrability, and extended range. Besides this, the helicopter can also be deployed in high-altitude bunker busting operations, urban environments, counter-insurgency, and combat capabilities to support ground forces. <div type="image" title="Light Combat Helicopter" msid="94613876" hostid="261" sizebytes="51422"></div> Other than these, several key aviation technologies are used in this helicopter, like glass cockpit, crashworthy bottom structure, anti-resonance isolation system, integrated architecture and display system, IR suppressor, helmet-mounted display system and more. Coming to weapon capabilities, it has a 20mm gun, 70mm rocket and missiles. The helicopter can fire air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles. This Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) weighs 5,800 Kg, has a range of 550km and has a maximum speed of 268kmph. It is powered by a SHAKTI engine that produces a power of 1032kW. In March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a Cabinet Committee on Security, which approved the procurement of 15 indigenously developed Limited Series Production (LSP) LCH at the cost of ₹3,887 crores. According to the defence ministry, ten helicopters will be introduced, five for Indian Air Force (IAF) and five for the Indian Army. The Mark-III Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) is meant for coastal security. Out of the 16 Mk-III helicopters, HAL delivered three to Indian <keyword id="42407" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Navy">Navy</keyword> Chief Admiral Karambir Singh at Aero India. The helicopters are fully loaded multi mission helicopter is fitted with an array of advanced sensors. This will augment the Navy's responsibility for coastal security placed on it by the government after 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks that claimed the lives of 166 people and left 300 others injured. The helicopter features a full glass cockpit with HAL's Integrated Architecture Display System (IADS), more powerful "Shakti" (Safran Ardiden 1H1) <keyword id="240487" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="engines">engines</keyword>, and a host of new systems. The Indian Navy had ordered 16 Mk-III to supplement its ageing and depleting fleet of Alouettes (Chetaks) - from HAL. However, Tata while responding to Business Insider queries said, “Tata Industries is a very minor investor in Urban Aeronautics. We do not have any further guidance to offer.” It has also partnered with French company Safran, which supplies all power and requirements. “We have signed an agreement with certain parties, not in India yet, but we are definitely looking forward to it. Really for the manned-aircraft, which we think has a lot of potential in India,” Rafi said. Rafi thinks a lot of aircraft makers in India can be a great strategic partner for their company. “There are a lot of aircraft makers in India we know Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), there was some point where Tata could have been a partner. I think they went in different directions. But, they are still invested,” he said. “We are a private company and setting up a manufacturing unit in India is a big advantage for us,” he added. An Israeli firm working on flying cars is looking for $40 million and a strategic partner⁠— the founders are open to set up the plant in India

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), the highest decision-making body for security issues headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved the purchase of 83 Tejas fighter jets for the <keyword id="15141" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Air-Force">Indian Air Force</keyword> at a cost of Rs 48,000 crore, including infrastructure. The CCS approved the largest indigenous defence procurement deal worth about Rs 48,000 crore to strengthen the IAF's fleet of homegrown Light Combat Aircraft (LCA)-Tejas. "This deal will be a game changer for self reliance in the Indian defence manufacturing," Union Defence Minister <keyword id="6355121" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajnath-Singh">Rajnath Singh</keyword> said. Giving out details about the Cabinet decision, the <keyword id="43909" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Defence-ministry">Defence Ministry</keyword> in a statement said: "The Cabinet has approved procurement of 73 LCA Tejas Mk-1A fighter aircraft and 10 LCA Tejas Mk-1 trainer aircraft at the cost of Rs 45,696 crore along with design and development of infrastructure sanctions worth Rs 1,202 crore." Light Combat Aircraft Mk-1A variant is an indigenously designed, developed and manufactured state-of-the-art modern 4+ generation fighter aircraft. This aircraft is equipped with critical operational capabilities of Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar, Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missile, Electronic Warfare (EW) Suite and Air to Air Refuelling (AAR) would be a potent platform to meet the operational requirements of Indian Air Force, IAF. The LCA-Tejas is going to be the backbone of the IAF fighter fleet in the years to come. LCA-Tejas incorporates a large number of new technologies many of which were never attempted in India. The indigenous content of LCA-Tejas is 50 per cent in the Mk1A variant which will be enhanced to 60 per cent. The Light Combat Aircraft Tejas is indigenously designed by the Aircraft Development Agency (ADA) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and manufactured by <keyword id="86569" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hindustan-Aeronautics-Limited">Hindustan Aeronautics Limited</keyword> (HAL). The HAL has already set up second line manufacturing facilities at its Nasik and Bengaluru Divisions. Equipped with the augmented infrastructure the HAL will steer LCA-Mk1A production for timely deliveries to the IAF. "The decision taken today will considerably expand the current LCA ecosystem and help in creating new job opportunities," the minister said. HAL follows a system integrator model in the LCA Mk1A programme and acts as an umbrella organisation, fostering manufacturing and design capabilities in private industry. The first squadron of the Light Combat Aircraft, Tejas was raised in 2016. The manufacturing of 83 jets will not only be a boost for 'Make in India' or self reliance but help in filling the gaps in the Indian Air Force as its current fleet is down to 30 squadrons, way below the sanctioned strength of 42. Each squadron comprises 18 fighter jets. These 73 Mark 1A jets are in addition to the 40 Mark 1 already ordered by the IAF. Last year in March, the <keyword id="6369097" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ministry-of-defence">Ministry of Defence</keyword> gave the go-ahead for the purchase of 73 Tejas Mark 1A aircraft for the Indian Air Force. This was a major breakthrough as after cost negotiations for over three years between the Ministry of Defence and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, the price for procurement of the advanced variant of the indigenously-made Light Combat Aircraft Tejas was slashed. $6 billion defence deal boost for HAL — Government approves purchase of 83 Tejas fighter jets

New Delhi, Dec 11 () Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd on Wednesday said a pact has been signed between the company's management and its workmen on the revision of wage structure with effect from January 1, 2017.
 In a regulatory filing the company said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed on December 10, 2019 between workmen and the management on revision of wage structure from January 1, 2017 and productivity improvement and other related matters.
 The workers on HAL had gone on a strike from October 14-22 to press for their demand of 15 per cent fitment benefit and 35 per cent perks with effect from January 1, 2017 at par with executives.
 On December 2, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had said in Rajya Sabha that the labour union had resumed work after the High Court judgement but negotiations were on between the management and the labour unions.
 The minister had said that the HAL management has negotiated with workmen and trade unions for their wage revision based on government guidelines of November 24, 2017 on wage policy for Central Public Sector Enterprises.
 The issue of wage revision has been discussed by HAL management in consonance with the statutory provisions and also keeping in mind the interest of the company, employees and nation at large, he had noted. SID DRR

The Air Chief, who is in the city to unveil the 59th annual conference of the Indian Society of Aerospace Medicine, undertook the sortie in the HAL-made LCH for the first time, as a co-pilot, dressed in a fighter pilot suit. Designed and developed by the city-based state-run defence behemoth (HAL), LCH is the world's multi-role lightest attack helicopter, with a highest flight ceiling. This time the entire amount is going to local manufacturers like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). HAL's share price saw a jump over 4% as markets opened today morning. <div type="image" title="HAL share price" msid="77497628" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;HAL&amp;#39;s share price since July&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> BHEL's share price on the other hand remained muted showing a marginal uptake of over 1%. <div type="image" title="BHEL share price since July" msid="77497651" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;BHEL share price since July&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The projects approved by the Defence Acquisition Council (<a href="https://pib.gov.in/PressReleseDetail.aspx?PRID=1645092">DAC</a>) in its meeting today headed by India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh include new aircraft, more firepower for the <keyword id="6355100" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Navy">Indian Navy</keyword>, as well as approvals that will speed the procurement and upgrades of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The <keyword id="15141" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Air-Force">Indian Air Force</keyword> (IAF) needs more eyes in the sky In July, the DAC approved the proposal to procure 21 new MiG-29 aircraft along with upgrading the existing 59 already enlisted with the Air Force. It also sanctioned buying 12 new Sukhoi-20 MK I aircraft. Pushing on the narrative of Athmanibhar Bharat, self-reliant India, the government has put an order for 106 of the newly developed Basic Trainer Aircraft from HAL. Initially, 70 of these jets will be inducted to meet the IAF’s training requirements once they receive the required certification. The remaining 36 will be picked up once the HTT-40 fleet — another trainer aircraft that HAL invested ₹550 crore to develop — is operational. Increasing the Indian Navy’s firepower Other than, the primary beneficiary of the DAC’s project approval is BHEL. The government has approved the procurement of an upgraded version of the Super Rapid Gun Mount (SRGM). It is the main fun onboard Navy and Indian Coast Guard warships. According to the government, the upgraded version of the SRGM will increase the capabilities of the warships to manoeuvre against fast-moving targets like missiles. It will also enhance the engagement range of the guns. The <keyword id="6354416" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Army">Indian Army</keyword> won’t be left out of the fray. It will be getting new 125 mm Armour Piercing Fin Stabilised Discarding Sabot (APFSDS) ammunition. 70% of the product will be made in India and the ammunition will be brought in under a ‘design and development case’. Other approvals are aimed at speeding up the procurement of Indo-Russian AK 203 guns and push through faster upgrades for UAVs.
