<keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="India" source="keywords">India</keyword>'s <keyword id="19938893" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="defence-exports" source="keywords">defence exports</keyword> have surged from Rs 15 billion in 2017 to Rs 210 billion in 2024, registering a CAGR of 46 per cent, highlighted a report on 'Defence Conference 3.0' by Antique Stock Broking. <br /><br />The report stated that the <keyword id="20861069" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="global-shift" source="keywords">global shift</keyword> towards a China+1 strategy and the impact of the <keyword id="20016971" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Russia-Ukraine-war" source="keywords">Russia-Ukraine war</keyword> offer India additional opportunities to fill supply chain gaps, potentially boosting its share in the <keyword id="23046732" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="global-defence-industry" source="keywords">global defence industry</keyword>. <br /><br />The report noted that the country's long-term goal is to become a global defence manufacturing hub is driven by Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), private enterprises, start-ups, and MSMEs. <br /><br />"Indian defence exports have grown multi-fold from INR 15 bn in 2017 to INR 210 bn in 2024 at a CAGR of 46%. The China + 1 strategy and the Russia-Ukraine war provides an additional opportunity for India to fill the gap created in the supply chain and hence increase its contribution to the global defence industry," the report read. <br /><br />The report added that to achieve this target a well-developed domestic ecosystem is crucial as lower import content in products accelerates approvals by reducing international conflicts. <br /><br />The report added that the Ministry of Defence has taken key initiatives to attract Indian private players and global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) include establishing aerospace parks and defence corridors, fast-tracking project approvals, and enhancing development and testing facilities. <br /><br />Highlighting the potential in India's Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) segment the report explained that it holds a significant potential for global aerospace companies due to its technical expertise and cost-competitive solutions. <br /><br />"India provides a huge opportunity in the <keyword id="23046733" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="MRO-segment" source="keywords">MRO segment</keyword> for global aerospace leaders given the expertise the country provides as well as the cost efficiency solutions compared to its global competitors" the report added. <br /><br />India aims to increase domestic defence turnover to Rs 3 lac crore by 2029, Rs 500 billion targeted for exports. In the past years, it has brought large investors including GQG Partners and International Holding Company (IHC) besides QIA. <br /><br /> Other major global names that participated in the QIP include Blackrock, Jupiter Asset Management, and Eastspring. <br /><br /> Domestic mutual funds that have participated included HDFC Mutual Fund, Axis Mutual Fund, Bandhan Mutual Fund, LIC, WhiteOak, 360One among others. <br /><br /> Insurance companies including SBI Insurance, SBI Pension and ASK Asset Management have also participated, according to sources. <br /><br /> QIP is an instrument used by listed companies to raise funds from large institutions. <br /><br /> The fundraise is the first after Adani group's flagship firm scrapped a Rs 20,000 crore issue in February last year, following the Hindenburg report alleging accounting fraud and stock manipulation. <br /><br /> Though the group vehemently and repeatedly denied all allegations, listed companies of the conglomerate at one point saw over USD 150 billion of their market value being wiped out. <br /><br /> While the group has largely recovered, a successful QIP is being seen as a powerful vote of investor confidence in the tycoon. <br /><br /> Separately, Adani Enterprises Ltd, the flagship firm of the group, is looking to revive its first-ever public sale of bonds. <ul><li>Shares of <keyword id="160447" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hinduja-global-solutions" source="Orion">Hinduja Global Solutions</keyword> slipped 20% on Friday as investors were disappointed with the dividend amount announced by the company.</li><li>The company has declared a third interim dividend of ₹150 per share.</li><li>Analysts say the street expected about two times the dividend amount announced.</li></ul>Shares of Bengaluru-based information technology (IT) firm Hinduja Global Solutions crashed 20% in a single day as investors were highly disappointed with the company’s dividend announcement. <br /><br />The company has declared the third interim dividend of ₹150 per share for the current financial year FY22 along with a 1:1 bonus share issue, which means for every one share an investor holds in the company, he/she will get an additional share.<br /><br />However, this was below investors’ expectation considering the company had a good cash reserve after it sold its healthcare services business to Barings Private Equity Asia in August 2021 for an enterprise value of ₹8,906 crore ($1.2 billion). With this, the street expected two times the dividend offered by the company. <br /><br />“The company has around ₹8,000 crore of cash reserves at the moment and it has given a dividend amounting to ₹315 crore as dividend, which is not even 4% of cash reserves. The street expected a dividend of at least 5-10% of cash reserves,” Kranthi Bathini, director of equity strategy at WealthMills Securities, told Business Insider. <br /><br />In fact, shares of the company had risen about 19% since August, when the company announced the stake sale on expectation of a higher dividend. <br /><div type="image" title="hinduja global" height="900" width="1200" msid="88751757" hostid="261"></div>“Dividend they have paid is much much lower than what the street was expecting. IT firm Hinduja Global Solutions tanks as street expected two times the dividend announced

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Asset Management are becoming a bit less bullish.</li><li>Although the US economic outlook is strong, returns may have been pulled forward.</li></ul><p>A pair of Wall Street juggernauts are getting slightly more skeptical about stocks and bonds, but a compelling investment opportunity may be hiding in plain sight.</p><div type="image" title="GS 10-year projection" height="1088" width="1508" msid="114505224" hostid="261" sizebytes="75402"></div><p>Goldman Sachs stole headlines recently by forecasting that <a target="_blank" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/stock-market-outlook-sp500-future-returns-decade-forecast-goldman-sachs-2024-10">US equities will only rise 3% a year in the next decade</a>, down from an average annual gain of 13% in the prior 10 years. The firm's rationale is based on a more challenging backdrop characterized by lofty valuations, an unusually high concentration in the market's biggest stocks, increased recession risk, lower profits, and elevated interest rates.</p><div type="image" title="GS 10-year projection baseline" height="742" width="1010" msid="114505227" hostid="261" sizebytes="35320"></div><p>Top minds at JPMorgan Asset Management (JPMAM) agree that stocks might not post the returns that investors have come to expect, though they're not nearly as pessimistic.</p><p>The firm, which manages $3.5 trillion in assets, expects US large-cap equities to appreciate by 6.7% a year in the next 10 to 15 years, according to its yearly long-term capital market assumptions report released on October 21. For reference, JPMAM thinks global stocks will rise between 7.2% and 8.1% a year in that same span.</p><p>A mid-single-digit annual gain for US large caps is nothing to sneeze at, though it would be down substantially from <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-invest-economy-growth-outlook-recession-risk-inflation-jpmorgan-2022-11">7.9% two years ago</a> and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-invest-stocks-bonds-real-estate-outlook-strategy-jpmorgan-2023-10">7% last year</a>.</p><p>There's a simple explanation for that marginally more tepid outlook: US stocks have been on a tear. And while <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/stock-market-outlook-prediction-2025-how-to-invest-rally-trader-2024-10">some bulls are emboldened</a> by the S&amp;P 500's excellent track record, JPMAM strategists worry that the market has pulled forward future gains.</p><p>"Near the bottom of all these pages, we put a little statement saying, "Past performance is not indicative of future returns.' That's actually not true," said David Kelly, JPMAM's chief global market strategist, at a press conference about the report. "Past great performance is indicative of a more difficult environment going forward."</p><p>The S&amp;P 500 is on pace to rise by at least 10% <a target="_blank" href="https://www.macrotrends.net/2526/sp-500-historical-annual-returns">for the fifth time since 2018</a> and the 11th time since the financial crisis, including what's been a 22.7% gain in 2024. That strength, combined with already-rich valuations, led JPMAM to cut its long-term projection for US large caps.</p><div type="image" title="JPMAM valuations" height="926" width="1038" msid="114505230" hostid="261" sizebytes="32120"></div><p>However, Kelly said the downward shift was gradual since the economic growth outlook is promising. The firm is calling for US real GDP of 2% in the long term, which is the highest mark since the pandemic, along with 2.4% inflation, which is down for the third consecutive year.</p><p>"The very good news is that we think that the foundations for the US economy and the global economy look better than they did a year ago," Kelly said. "We got through some of our more significant worries on inflation; economic growth looks pretty solid."</p><div type="image" title="JPMAM US GDP forecast" height="828" width="1032" msid="114505215" hostid="261" sizebytes="15222"></div><h2 id="ee7765b8-415d-46ac-862a-90df145c611f"><strong>As the 60-40 portfolio loses steam, real estate can take the baton</strong></h2><p>Lower stock returns are expected to drag down the traditional 60-40 stock-bond portfolio, which JPMAM now says should fetch 6.4% a year for the next decade or so.</p><p>That forecast is down from 7% last year and 7.2% heading into 2023, though it's higher than the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/alternative-investing-strategy-60-40-portfolio-bitcoin-outlook-inflation-jpmorgan-2021-11">4.3% mark in late 2021</a>, where US large caps were only expected to climb 4.1% a year in the long term after an outstanding rebound from the early pandemic lows.</p><p>Bonds, which make up the second half of that calculus, have a solid but unremarkable outlook.</p><p>US bonds broadly are expected to return 4.6% in the long term — down from 5.1% last year and the same as two years ago — while the US 10-year Treasury note is projected to fetch 4.2%, versus 4.6% last year and 4% two years ago. Meanwhile, high-yield bonds should deliver a 6.1% gain in the long term, compared to 6.5% last year and 6.8% two years ago.</p><p>After accounting for inflation, JPMAM expects the standard 60-40 portfolio to return less than 5% in the long term, and the same is true of large-cap stocks and bonds. While such gains may be satisfactory for some, it would take over 16 years for an investor to double their money.</p><p>Those looking for a more compelling investment opportunity should consider real estate, according to JPMAM. Unlike stocks and bonds, the firm's projected returns for that asset class are steadily rising, from 5.7% two years ago to 7.5% in late 2023 to 8.1% this year.</p><p>US core real estate is projected to yield close to 6%, up from just over 4% a few years ago and well above the 10-year's yield of 4.2%. Real estate isn't cheap based on <a target="_blank" href="https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/capitalizationrate.asp">capitalization rates</a>, which measure how much money a property generates relative to its market value, but JPMAM believes the asset class is an exceptional value relative to other yield-generating investments.</p><div type="image" title="Real estate vs 10-year yield" height="924" width="1032" msid="114505221" hostid="261" sizebytes="34048"></div><p>"If you were to look at this on a spread basis, the cap-rates spread would tell you that real estate looks a little bit expensive," said David Lebovitz, a global market strategist for JPMAM, at the conference. "But if you look at the all-in yield and think of that as your valuation and your starting point, we're looking at a generational opportunity."</p><p>Monica Issar, JPMorgan Private Bank's global head of multi-asset and portfolio solutions, echoed that sentiment.</p><p>"This is absolutely the largest generational opportunity to invest in real estate in a long time," Issar said at the conference.</p><p>Commercial real estate looks especially compelling, Issar said. Unlike residential real estate, which has held up well in recent years — as evidenced by <a target="_blank" href="https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/MSPUS">remarkably resilient home prices</a> despite <a target="_blank" href="https://www.freddiemac.com/pmms">still-elevated mortgage rates</a> — office buildings have struggled to regain their value since the pandemic ushered in a new era of remote work for millions of Americans.</p><p>As companies reduced their physical presence or eschewed offices altogether, demand for commercial spaces has taken a massive hit. However, Issar thinks that risk is reflected in prices.</p><p>"All we've been reading about and all we've been seeing is price declines and discussions about empty buildings," Issar said. "This is a time for investors to step in, move into attractive pricing, move into asset classes like non-core real estate."</p><p>Investors can bet on a commercial real estate rebound by working with <a target="_blank" href="https://am.jpmorgan.com/us/en/asset-management/institutional/investment-strategies/alternatives/real-estate/">JPMAM's team</a>, or on their own through publicly traded real estate investment trusts (REITs). JPMAM didn't outline any specific investments to make, but Issar threw out a few ideas to help investors brainstorm.</p><p>"Think of multifamily housing; think of student housing around campuses; think of cell towers and data centers," Issar said. "That is the modernization of the new direct real estate that is going to be really attractive for investors in the future."</p>

In the year-ago period, the PAT was Rs 199.31 crore. <br /><br /> Revenues during the quarter under review rose to Rs 9,638 crore from Rs 8,266 crore in the second quarter of FY23, the company said in a statement. <br /><br /> It said EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation) for the quarter was Rs 1,080 crore as against Rs 537 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY23. <br /><br /> Net debt stood at Rs 1,139 crore at the end of the second quarter, it said. <br /><br /> The domestic medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MHCV) sales stood at 29,947 units, up 18% from the second quarter of the previous fiscal, which is in line with industry growth. <br /><br /> Light commercial vehicle (LCV) volume was at 16,998 units compared to 17,040 LCVs sold in the same period last year, Ashok Leyland said. <br /><br /> Export volumes for the quarter (MHCV &amp; LCV) were 4% higher at 2,901 units from the year-ago period despite multiple socio-political challenges across the globe. <br /><br /> The company said while its overall MHCV MS is moving in the right direction, it significantly increased its bus market share, making it the top bus manufacturer in the country. <br /><br /> "We have grown and grown profitability. The second half of the year appears to have the twin tailwinds of demand growth and softer commodity prices which should improve the profitability of the industry," Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ashok Leyland, said. <br /><br /> This is the third consecutive quarter of double-digit EBITDA, he said, adding that there is tremendous focus on margin enhancement, network expansion, operational efficiency, cost optimisation and deployment of digital as an enabler for growth and productivity. <br /><br /> There is an enhanced thrust to grow all non-MHCV businesses as well and "we expect to see the benefits of all of this in the coming quarters," he added. <br /><br /> Further, the company said that its all other businesses posted good growth in the current quarter and added that it expanded its MHCV range by launching new products in tipper, tractor and MAV categories. <br /><br /> The focus on expansion of the distribution network continued with further addition of 47 touch points in the quarter, especially in the northern and eastern parts of the country, it said. <br /><br /> "We continue to see strong demand in all segments of trucks and passenger vehicles. The industry continues to post strong growth, on the back of strong macroeconomic factors and we are confident that FY24 will see further growth in the second half as well," <keyword id="454707" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="dheeraj-hinduja" source="Orion">Dheeraj Hinduja</keyword>, Executive Chairman of Ashok Leyland, said. <br /><br /> While International business globally is challenged owing to the conflicts across the globe, "we are intensifying our expansion strategy in our focus markets of the Middle East, Africa and Asia," he said. <br /><br /> The company continues to build its capabilities in alternative energy and shall be soon coming up with some exciting products and solutions, Hinduja added.

Even as Indian women face low representation in leadership roles in the workforce (18 per cent), they are now seeking more entrepreneurship opportunities as compared to men, according to new <keyword id="28120" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="linkedin" source="Orion">LinkedIn</keyword> data released on Wednesday.<br /><br />The data, published in the <keyword id="69007" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="world-economic-forum" source="Orion">World Economic Forum</keyword>'s 2022 <keyword id="2573327" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="global-gender-gap-report" source="Orion">Global Gender Gap Report</keyword>, showed that the share of female founders grew by 2.68 times compared to 1.79 times among men between 2016 to 2021. The growth rate of female entrepreneurship showed to be the highest during the pandemic -- in 2020 and 2021.<br /><br />Besides being underrepresented in leadership roles, the data also revealed that women are also not being promoted internally to leadership in companies at the same rate as men. Men are 42 per cent more likely to be promoted into leadership positions than women.<br /><br />This could explain why women in leadership roles also increasingly lag behind their male counterparts in the senior stages of their careers, with the proportion of women in the workforce decreasing along the corporate ladder.<br /><br />In <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>, the representation of female leaders has dropped from 29 per cent at the senior level to a staggering 18 per cent at the managerial level.<br /><br />"Our new data is indicative of one thing: working women in India are being held back by more barriers in the workplace when compared to men. But despite the adversity, many women remain undeterred and continue to chart their own path by pivoting to entrepreneurship and building careers that allow them to work on their own terms with greater flexibility," said <keyword id="10697755" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ruchee-anand" source="Orion">Ruchee Anand</keyword>, Senior Director, <keyword id="14445297" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india-talent-learning-solutions" source="Orion">India Talent &amp; Learning Solutions</keyword> at LinkedIn, in a statement.<br /><br />"We saw this especially in the years of the pandemic (2020 and 2021), when women sheltered from a shrinking job market by starting their own businesses that also created opportunities for other women," Anand added.<br /><br />However, the new data also reveals that there is progress being made. More women are being hired into leadership roles from eight years ago, shooting up to 24 per cent this year -- 1.36x since 2015. <ul class="summary-list"><li>US stocks ended lower on Wednesday as traders anxiously wait for new inflation data.</li><li>PCE inflation, the Fed's preferred measure, will be published on Thursday morning. </li></ul><p>US stocks slumped on Wednesday as traders eyed upcoming inflation data and continued to assess the outlook for rate cuts this year.</p><p>Major averages ended the day with a loss, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average loggging its third straight losing session.</p><p>All eyes will be on the Personal Consumption Expenditures index on Thursday, which is the Federal Reserve's preferred measure of inflation. Economists polled by Dow Jones are expecting consumer expenditure prices to rise 0.3% for the month of January, higher than the prior month's 0.2% increase.</p><p>The data point will be key in determining the path of Fed rate cuts this year, especially if inflation comes in hotter than expected. </p><p>"There are good reasons to believe that the assumptions of the market that the PCE will be slightly hotter than last month," Arnim Holzer, Easterly EAB Risk Solution's global macro strategist said in a statement. "We continue to think that the Fed's policy of waiting and watching is valid," he added. </p><p>Investors have been steadily dialing back their expectations for Fed rate cuts this year, as central bankers are looking to keep the lid on inflation. George Lee, the co-head of Goldman's office of applied innovation, said in a recent <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/video/2024/02/14/ai-could-increase-growth-by-1point5percent-over-the-next-10-years-goldman-sachs.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNBC</a> interview. "In a sense, I think we will co-evolve with these machines."</p><h3>Corporate earnings will get a boost: Morgan Stanley</h3><div type="image" title="new york stock exchange" height="1749" width="3500" msid="108165543" hostid="261" sizebytes="437288"></div><p>S&amp;P 500 firms could see a big surge in profits due to AI, according to Morgan Stanley. "And ultimately, if this is as big of a paradigm shift as I think it is — even if it's just half as big — I think you could see the Nasdaq move up considerably, 2x in the next few years." </p><h3>AI will be 'business oxygen,' boost markets for years: Waddell &amp; Associates</h3><div type="image" title="artificial intelligence robot" height="459" width="918" msid="108165547" hostid="261" sizebytes="17286"></div><p>AI will deliver because of a chronic worker shortage, according to David Waddell, Waddell &amp; Associates' chief investment strategist. The technology, combined with robotics, could create a wave of virtual workers.</p><p>Meanwhile, the AI mania doesn't look like a stock bubble. Other sectors, like financials and healthcare, are outperforming tech stocks this year, a sign that the rally could be here to stay.</p><p>"AI is business oxygen, and it's going to spread everywhere," Waddell said in a recent <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/video/2024/02/26/ai-does-not-look-like-a-bubble-and-i-believe-in-the-promise-of-it-says-david-waddell.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNBC</a> interview. "It's not a 10-month story, it's a 10-year story." </p><h3>The S&amp;P 500 could soar 22% ahead of productivity boom: Sanctuary Wealth</h3><div type="image" title="stock market traders" height="2147" width="4294" msid="108165550" hostid="261" sizebytes="1018034"></div><p>The S&amp;P 500 could soar as high as 5,800 by the end of the year, thanks to AI's magnifying effect on productivity. That implies the benchmark index notching a 22% gain for the year, according to Sanctuary Wealth's chief investment strategist Mary Ann Bartels. </p><p>That's partly because AI could end up having the same effect on the economy as the internet bubble did in the late 90s. The S&amp;P 500 surged 220% from 1995 to the end of the decade, largely due to rising productivity, Bartels said.</p><p>"We have been bullish on the Magnificent Seven.
