Maruti Suzuki India registers highest-ever monthly sales in festive-filled October

On November 18, the Yellow Line, which connects Millennium City Centre in Gurugram to Samaypur Badli in Delhi, saw the highest passenger traffic, with a record 20.99 lakh commuters. The Blue Line followed closely with 20.80 lakh passengers, while the Red Line recorded 8.56 lakh commuters, 8.15 lakh in Pink Line and 7.93 lakh in Violet Line. The Magenta Line saw 6.19 lakh passengers, followed by the Green Line with 4.12 lakh commuters, 81,985 in Airport Line, 57,701 in Rapid Metro, and 50,128, in the Grey Line, as per the data. Thick grey haze continued to choke Delhi for the third consecutive day on Tuesday, with pollution levels remaining alarmingly high at 488 in the 'severe plus' category. To encourage more people to use the metro in this scenario, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is running 60 extra trips on weekdays, offering more capacity than usual, an official statement said. The DMRC has recorded its 25 highest passenger journeys since August this year, the statement added. It emphasised that the more people opt for the metro over private vehicles, the greater the reduction in vehicular emissions, which will help improve the air quality of the city and its surrounding areas. In addition, the DMRC has introduced several measures to make travel more convenient for passengers, the statement read. India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd (IIFCL) on Wednesday reported a 44 per cent jump in standalone <keyword id="19942166" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="net-profit" source="keywords">net profit</keyword> to Rs 1,552 crore for the fiscal ended March 2024 aided by an increase in <keyword id="20107418" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lending" source="keywords">lending</keyword> and moderation in <keyword id="19936329" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bad-loans" source="keywords">bad loans</keyword>. The state-owned infrastructure finance company had earned a net profit of Rs 1,076 crore in the previous fiscal. The company recorded the <keyword id="20025887" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="highest-ever" source="keywords">highest-ever</keyword> profit, recovery, sanction and disbursement furthering turnaround performance that began three years ago, IIFCL managing director PR Jaishankar said while announcing annual financial numbers. He said, for the first time, the profit before tax has crossed Rs 2,000 crore. During the year, profit before tax has increased to Rs 2,029 crore as against Rs 1,076 crore in the previous year. The company continued to add value as its net worth increased 11 per cent to Rs 14,266 crore in 2023-24 from Rs 12,878 crore in the preceding fiscal. During the year, he said, the company posted record performance with the highest-ever sanctions and disbursements at Rs 42,309 crore and Rs 22,356 crore, respectively. The cumulative sanctions and disbursements stood at Rs 2.5 lakh crore and Rs 1.28 lakh crore, respectively, as of March 31, 2024. Going forward, he said, the company has significant scope to further improve loan growth and expects to grow at 16-18 per cent. To fund business growth, he said the company plans to raise over Rs 30,000 crore during the current financial year. With regard to asset quality, IIFCL has brought down gross Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) to 1.61 per cent from 4.76 per cent a year ago. The net NPA of the company too declined to 0.46 per cent from 1.41 per cent in the year-ago period. During the current year, he said, the net NPA would be either zero or nearly zero. The Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR) in the last fiscal increased to 71.51 per cent from 70.48 per cent, Jaishankar said. IIFCL has funded close to 760 infra projects worth Rs 14 lakh crore till March 2024. IIFCL profit rises 44% to highest-ever of ₹1,552 crore in FY24

The consolidated net profit of the company is also highest at Rs 57,101 crore in FY24. The <keyword id="21739636" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="crude-oil-production" source="keywords">crude oil production</keyword> of the company has surged by 2.4 per cent quarterly to 5.359 MMT in Q4 FY24. However, the standalone gross revenue of the company declined 11 per cent YoY to Rs 1,38,402 crore in FY24 from Rs 1,55,517 crore in FY23. The standalone profit has surged yearly by 1.1 per cent to Rs 40,526 crore in FY24. The company also announced a total <keyword id="20047030" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dividend" source="keywords">dividend</keyword> of Rs 12.25 per share with a total payout of Rs 15,411 crore. This includes an interim dividend of Rs 9.75 per share which is already paid during the year and a final dividend of Rs 2.50 per share recommended by the Board. The Crude Oil production of the company in Q4 FY'24 saw an increase of 2.4 per cent over Q4 FY'23 whereas <keyword id="20646431" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gas-production" source="keywords">gas production</keyword> decreased by 3 per cent. The company informed that it drilled 541 wells, the highest recorded in the past 34 years, comprising 103 exploratory and 438 development wells. ONGC invested around Rs 37,000 crore in <keyword id="20018917" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="capital-expenditure" source="keywords">capital expenditure</keyword> in FY24, compared to Rs 30,208 crore spent in the previous year. ONGC has also declared 11 discoveries (6 in on land, 5 in offshore) during FY 2023-24 in its operated acreages. Out of these, 6 are prospects (1 in on land, 5 in offshore) and 5 are new pool (on land) discoveries. The shares of ONGC gained more than 46 per cent in the last six months on the national stock exchange and were trading at Rs 280 at the time of filing this report. "We continue to witness rising demand coupled with good customer enquiries from across the regions. Notably, the SUV and MUV models are at the forefront of this demand surge," Toyota Kirloskar Motor Vice President (<keyword id="20786935" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sales-service-used-car-business" source="keywords">Sales-Service-Used Car Business</keyword>) Sabari Manohar said. Toyota records highest-ever monthly sales in February

Gross Goods and Services Tax (<keyword id="19951327" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="gst" source="keywords">GST</keyword>) collections surged to a <keyword id="19953076" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="record-high" source="keywords">record high</keyword> of Rs 2.10 lakh crore in the month of April. The GST collection has also registered a 12.4 per cent year-on-year growth. According to a statement by the <keyword id="19908390" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ministry-of-Finance" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Ministry of Finance" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Ministry of Finance">Ministry of Finance</keyword>, the growth was propelled by a robust uptick in both <keyword id="20791652" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="domestic-transactions" source="keywords">domestic transactions</keyword>, which rose by 13.4 per cent, and <keyword id="19933566" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="imports" source="keywords">imports</keyword>, witnessing an 8.3 per cent spike. After accounting for refunds, the net GST revenue for April 2024 stood at Rs 1.92 lakh crore, showcasing an impressive 17.1 per cent growth compared to the corresponding period last year. The breakdown of April 2024 collections reveals positive performance across various components. Central Goods and Services Tax (<keyword id="20793046" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="CGST" source="keywords">CGST</keyword>) recorded collections of Rs 43,846 crore, while State Goods and Services Tax (<keyword id="20025648" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="SGST" source="keywords">SGST</keyword>) collections amounted to Rs 53,538 crore. Integrated Goods and Services Tax (<keyword id="20025649" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IGST" source="keywords">IGST</keyword>) collections totaled Rs 99,623 crore, including Rs 37,826 crore collected on imported goods. Additionally, cess collections reached Rs 13,260 crore, which included Rs 1,008 crore collected on imported goods. Furthermore, the inter-governmental settlement process saw the central government disbursing Rs 50,307 crore to CGST and Rs 41,600 crore to SGST from the IGST collected. This resulted in total revenue of Rs 94,153 crore for CGST and Rs 95,138 crore for SGST for April 2024 after regular settlement. During the financial year 2023-24 the total gross GST collection recorded at Rs 20.18 lakh crore, exceeding Rs 20 lakh crore with a 11.7 per cent increase compared to the previous fiscal year. The average monthly collection for this fiscal year, that ended in March 2024 stood at Rs 1.68 lakh crore, surpassing the previous year's average of Rs 1.5 lakh crore. The surge in recent GST collections reflects a positive trajectory for India's economy, underscoring robust domestic consumption and buoyant import activity. The figures bode well for the country's fiscal health and economic recovery efforts, signaling resilience amidst global uncertainties. The Goods and Services Tax was introduced in the country with effect from July 1, 2017, and states were assured compensation for loss of any revenue arising on account of the implementation of GST as per the provisions of the GST (Compensation to States) Act, 2017 for a period of five years. The center received more than 69,000 complaints regarding cybercrime and financial fraud related to cryptocurrency last year, the report says.Wray said scams targeting investors using cryptocurrency are "skyrocketing in severity and complexity." Crypto scams related to investment fraud made up most of the complaints submitted to the center, with 32,094 reports. The second-highest reported category was tech support scams, with 8,719, according to the report.The report says investment crypto scams also reported the highest losses, with Americans losing over $3.9 billion in crypto investment fraud in 2023. Personal data breach scams took second place, with more than $490 million in losses.People over 60 reported the most instances of crypto fraud and the highest losses, with more than 16,000 reports totaling more than $1.6 billion in total losses among the age group, according to the FBI.A recent report by the Better Business Bureau found that <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/gen-z-loses-more-money-to-online-scams-than-boomers-2024-8">Gen Z loses the most money</a> to online scams, but people aged 55 to 64 are more susceptible to online investment scams, the report says.The vast majority of people who reported losing money to crypto fraud involving a kiosk — or a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/crypto-bitcoin-atm-vape-florida-west-palm-beach-ethereum-2022-5">crypto ATM</a> — were over 60, according to the FBI.
