Hector is now available in five variants -- Style, Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro. The company said the SUV is available in five, six, and seven-seater configurations. The next-gen Hector has key safety features such as six airbags and a 360-degree HD camera. Hector was introduced by MG Motor India in 2019. MG Motor India showcased its vision for future mobility - 'Drive Ahead' - at Auto Expo 2023 here. The company unveiled a line-up of 14 production-ready vehicles from its portfolio at the expo. Auto Expo 2023: MG Motor India announces next-gen Hector price starting at Rs 14.72 lakh

<keyword id="4233468" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mg-motor-india" source="Orion">MG Motor India</keyword> on Wednesday said it plans to offer majority stakes to local partners over the next 2-4 years as part of a five-year business roadmap in the country. <keyword id="5287148" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="mg-motor" source="Orion">MG Motor</keyword> is a British brand which is currently owned by China's largest automaker <keyword id="317281" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="saic-motor-corp-" source="Orion">SAIC Motor Corp.</keyword> The automaker, which has lined up Rs 5,000 crore to expand operations in the country by 2028, has been looking to raise capital for sometime now to fund its next phase of growth. The company's plans to bring in more capital to the country from its Chinese parent have not been successful so far. As per industry sources, the automaker has been waiting for government approval for around two years now and has therefore started looking for other options to raise capital. Elaborating on its roadmap, the company said it has plans to set up its second manufacturing plant in the country, taking its installed capacity to 3 lakh units per annum and roll out new products for the domestic market, including electric vehicles, as part of its five-year business roadmap in the country. The company currently rolls out products from its manufacturing plant in <keyword id="6389723" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="halol" source="Orion">Halol</keyword>, Gujarat, which it had acquired from <keyword id="4581" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="general-motors" source="Orion">General Motors</keyword>. The Halol plant can produce up to 1.2 lakh units per year. The automaker said it aims to launch 4-5 new cars in the country, with a focus on EVs. The company expects its EV portfolio to contribute up to 65-75 per cent of total sales in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>, it noted. The automaker said it is also exploring setting up cell manufacturing and hydrogen fuel-cell technology through joint ventures or third-party manufacturing. The carmaker has received more than 21,000 bookings for MG Hector since June 4. It is touted to be India’s first internet car, as per company claims. “Our first product, MG HECTOR, has received an overwhelming response and we are unable to cater to such high initial demand. We are, therefore, closing bookings temporarily as this will help ensure timely and orderly deliveries for our customers who have shown tremendous confidence in MG. We are also working with our component suppliers to ramp up production in a gradual manner without any compromise on quality,” said Rajeev Chaba, President &amp; MD, MG Motor India. The date of re-opening of bookings will be announced soon. According to the company, it plans to increase production for the Hector at its Halol manufacturing facility in Gujarat by 3000 units per month. The top 2 variants – Smart and Sharp – have registered the highest demand, with over 50% reservations for the petrol variants. Interestingly, these bookings came at a time when India’s auto industry is facing tough times with sales slowdown, and subsequent production cuts by large automakers. Moreso, many dealerships too have closed down across the country. The British company which is now owned by Chinese SIAC however marked a spectacular debut in the India market, in spite of its headwinds. Unexpectedly though neither of these international brands suffered from what is affecting top players in India. Amidst the melee, Kia emerged as one of India’s largest car companies. It grew so fast that it took up the fifth position in sales, beating Honda and Toyota. In October alone, Kia sold 12,800 cars, whereas its bookings raced past 50,000. Kia Seltos has also been nominated for the 2020 World Car of the year. On Dhanteras, an Indian festival, Kia delivered over 2100 cars. What worked in Kia’s favour, is that all three of its variants are BSVI compliant. Most other companies are still selling their BSIV models even as the Indian government set an April 2020 deadline to sell them. This is one of the many reasons for the auto slowdown. Meanwhile, MG Hector— India’s first internet car —launched in June. It got 10,000 bookings with a 4-month wait period. The carmaker had to stop taking bookings after the number hit 21,000 and later restarted. It also delivered 700 units of MG Hector on Dhanteras day. Both these cars are SUVs. While the price for Kia Seltos ranges between ₹9.6-16 lakhs, MG Hector ranges between ₹12-₹16.8 lakhs.

The deliveries of the car will begin on July 1. Earlier in June 2019, MG Motors launched its flagship store in Gurugram, along with a network of 120 centers across the country. The manufacturer plans to increase it to 250 centers by September this year. "The one-of-its-kind flagship experience store redefines the traditional car buying experience in India, in line with the demands and requirements of new-age customers,” said Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director, MG Motor India during the launch. The car competes with the likes of Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV 500, Hyundai Creta along with the awaited launch of Kia Seltos.

Greater Noida, Feb 6 () MG Motor India on Thursday showcased its new SUV 'Hector Plus' that is scheduled to go on sale later this year.Hector Plus is a 6- and 7-seater addition to the Hector brand that the company claims is India's first internet car.HECTOR PLUS is designed to build on the success of HECTOR and has a more premium look and customisable seating configuration, along with revamped interiors and exteriors, MG Motor India President and Managing Director Rajeev Chaba said at the Auto Expo.He added that the new model is scheduled to go on sale later this year. MG Motor India to bring Hector Plus to India later this year

New Delhi, Feb 20 () MG Motor India on Thursday said bookings for its SUV Hector have crossed 50,000 units in just eight months since its launch, and plans to launch six-seater version of the model later this year. The model has already sold nearly 20,000 units since its entry into India last year. MG Motor India Chief Commercial Officer Gaurav Gupta said, "The Hector continues its strong momentum in the Indian market crossing the 50,000-mark in terms of bookings received in just eight months since its launch." He further said the company continues to accelerate the momentum by opening new brand outlets closer to prospective customers in tier-I and tier-II cities. "With plans to launch the Hector Plus 6-seater family version in Q3 2020 (third quarter of 2020), we aim to further strengthen the Hector brand in India," Gupta said. MG Motor India said it has already expanded its operational footprint to over 200 centres across India and aims to expand the number to 250 by March-end. MG Motor India's SUV Hector bookings cross 50,000 units

New Delhi, Jan 26 () MG Motor India plans to increase production of its SUV Hector by around 30 per cent after BS-VI emission norms come into effect from April 1, according to a senior company official.
 The company, which last week launched the ZS EV, is also set to review plans for a sub-Rs 10 lakh electric vehicle (EV) considering the robust response to its pure electric SUV.
 "In case of Hector we are planning for another ramp up and hopefully that should happen in two-three months' time," MG Motor India President and MD Rajeev Chaba told .
 The company has received good response to Hector, its first model in India, and retailed 3,021 units in December 2019. Since its launch in July 2019, the carmaker recorded total sales of 15,930 units of the Hector.
 "Right now we are focussing on smooth transition to BS-VI from BS-IV in terms of dealer stock. Based on next two months we will decide but we are thinking that around 3,500 to 4,000 (units) per month of Hector we can do," he said.
 The first quarter will take some beating because of the stock adjustment, Chaba said, adding "but from April-May onwards it can be increased to 3,500 to 4,000 per month".
 Right now the company is producing around 3,000 units of the Hector from its Halol plant.
 With over 2,800 orders received for the ZS EV, way above its expectations, MG Motor India is considering to ramp up production of the vehicle to 300 or 400 units a month after three or four months, up from 200 units a month currently.
 When asked about the company's plans for the sub-Rs 10 lakh electric vehicle in the wake of the robust response to ZS EV, Chaba said it "is also an interesting development now".
 "I think we are going to review seriously what kind of shape and size, range and price that is needed for next generation EV," he said, adding "one concept will be there at the upcoming Auto Expo but we will modify it based on consumer response."
 Elaborating on the though process behind it, he said,"The less than Rs 10 lakh EV has to generate interest in millennials and it has to be a very lifestyle kind of EV. So it won't be a normal mainstream design. It has to be different," he said, adding, "We will firm up our plans post Auto Expo depending on the response." RKL ABM
