The country's largest private sector lender <keyword id="6357149" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="hdfc-bank" source="Orion">HDFC Bank</keyword> on Thursday announced that it has raised USD 750 million through a dollar bond sale. The bank said it will be paying a coupon of 5.686 per cent for the three year bonds, according to an exchange filing. The paper, rated Baa3 by Moody's Rating Services and Bbb by S&amp;P, will be listed on the India International Exchange, it said. The USD denominated senior unsecured instruments will be redeemed on maturity in March 2026. HDFC Bank raises $750 million in dollar bond sale

<keyword id="107851" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="housing-development-finance-corporation" source="Orion">Housing Development Finance Corporation</keyword> (<keyword id="45123" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="hdfc" source="Orion">HDFC</keyword>) plans to raise up to Rs 10,000 crore, which includes Rs 5,000 crore in greenshoe through bonds maturing in 10-year, a person close to development said. The bidding for the bonds will take place on September 5 on the <keyword id="35140" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bse" source="Orion">BSE</keyword>'s bidding platform. "We have a fixed coupon rate of 7.80 per cent on our proposed bond issue," the person cited above said. Axis Bank and <keyword id="6653" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="icici-bank" source="Orion">ICICI Bank</keyword> were appointed as an arranger to the issue.

HDFC to raise up to ₹10,000 cr via 10-year bonds

New Delhi, May 6 () Mortgage lender HDFC Ltd plans to raise up to Rs 5,000 crore by issuing bonds on private placement basis to meet its business requirements.HDFC will issue secured redeemable non-convertible debentures on private placement basis with an issue size of Rs 2,500 crore and an option to retain over-subscription of up to Rs 2,500 crore, according to a regulatory filing.The coupon on the bonds, to be maturing in December 2021, has been fixed at 7.06 per cent per annum."The object of the issue is to augment the long-term resources of the Corporation. The proceeds of the present issue would be utilised for financing /refinancing the housing finance business requirements of the Corporation," HDFC said.Its shares closed 2.49 per cent higher at Rs 1,732.95 apiece on the BSE on Wednesday. HDFC to raise Rs 5,000 crore via bonds

New Delhi, Jun 11 () Mortgage lender HDFC Ltd on Thursday said it will raise up to Rs 4,000 crore by issuing bonds on private placement basis. The issue size of the secured redeemable non-convertible debentures, to open on June 15, 2020, is of Rs 2,100 crore with option to retain over-subscription up to Rs 1,900 crore, HDFC said in a regulatory filing. The issue, set to close on the same date (June 15), will offer coupon rate of 7.25 per cent per annum payable annually. The date of redemption is June 17, 2030. "The object of the issue is to augment the long-term resources of the Corporation. The proceeds of the present issue would be utilized for financing/refinancing the housing finance business requirement of the Corporation," Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited said. HDFC Bank is beefing up capital and provision to cushion a spike in bad loans post moratorium — and that’s helping its share price

New Delhi, Apr 3 () Mortgage lender HDFC Ltd will raise up to Rs 7,500 crore by issuing bonds on a private placement basis, the company said on Friday. The base issue size of non-convertible debentures (NCDs) is Rs 2,500 crore with the green shoe option of Rs 5,000 crore. The object of the issue is to augment the long-term resources of the lender, it said in a regulatory filing. "The proceeds of the present issue would be utilised for financing/ refinancing the housing finance business requirements of the corporation," it added. The NCDs with a coupon rate of 7.20 per cent will be open for offer on April 8 to the designated persons or entities. HDFC to raise up to Rs 7,500 cr by issuing bonds next week

The rising demand for credit in last couple of days has prompted banks to garner funds aggressively through certificates of deposits (CD), bonds, and fixed deposits (FD). The need for aggressive fund raising arose after the surplus liquidity in the banking system dropped sharply from the record high. According to the data compiled by Prime database, banks have so far raised around Rs 42,000 crore through CDs. This was even after the rates on this instruments are rising sharply. The data also showed that Indian Bank, topped the fund raising list via CDs, raising worth Rs 13,550 crore, which was followed by <keyword id="6357149" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="hdfc-bank" source="Orion">HDFC Bank</keyword> raising Rs 6,550 crore and <keyword id="62034" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="punjab-national-bank" source="Orion">Punjab National Bank</keyword> raising Rs 2,875 crore so far in August. "As liquidity is draining out in a calibrated manner from the system, banks are compelled to raise funds through CDs and even through fixed deposits. Banks credit growth has remained in double digits handily outpacing the deposit growth. The credit growth has increased in couple of weeks due to low base effect, small ticket size loans, higher working capital requirements due to elevated inflation and a shift to bank borrowings on account of high yields in the capital market. The bank credit has grown over 14 per cent on-year, as per data on the <keyword id="6354335" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="reserve-bank-of-india" source="Orion">Reserve Bank of India</keyword> showed. Meanwhile, liquidity in the banking system has cropped sharply in last couple of months. Currently, it around Rs 45,000 crore, as compared to Rs 1.30 lakh crore last week. Banks aggressively garnering funds via CDs, FDs amid firm credit off take

New Delhi, Jun 19 () Mortgage lender HDFC Ltd on Friday said its board has approved to raise up to Rs 14,000 crore in tranches through various means. "The committee of directors of the Corporation (HDFC) at its meeting held today (Friday) i.e., June 19, 2020, approved seeking approval of members of the Corporation through postal ballot for raising of funds not exceeding Rs 14,000 crore," it said in a regulatory filing. The funds will be raised through issuance of equity shares or compulsorily convertible debentures, non-convertible debentures along with warrants, foreign currency convertible bonds or any other security, it said. HDFC said the fundraising plan can also be through any other security whether secured or unsecured or listed or unlisted, or a combination thereof, either through qualified institutional placement and/or any other permissible modes, in one or more tranches. "The said funds are being raised to augment the long-term resources of the Corporation, to finance organic and/or inorganic business opportunities that may arise in financial services, including housing finance, and/or in areas where its subsidiaries operate, to maintain sufficient liquidity and for general corporate purposes of the Corporation," it said. HDFC's board approves raising up to Rs 14,000 cr through various means

New Delhi, Jun 20 () HDFC Bank on Saturday said its board has approved proposal to raise up to Rs 50,000 crore in the next twelve months by issuing various debt securities. The decision was taken at the board of directors meeting held on June 20, 2020, HDFC Bank said in a regulatory filing. "The Board of Directors has approved the issue of perpetual debt instruments (part of additional tier I capital), tier II capital bonds and long term bonds (financing of infrastructure and affordable housing) up to a total amount of Rs 50,000 crore," HDFC Bank said. The largest bank in the private sector said that it will raise the capital through in the period of next twelve months through private placement mode, subject to the approval of the shareholders at the ensuing annual general meeting (AGM) and any other regulatory approvals. Direct investments, unlike going via debt funds, can reduce expense ratios. </td></tr></tbody></table> No wonder, reports suggest that big ticket investors like <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/bonds/retail-bond-scheme-draws-strong-interest-from-nris/articleshow/87838650.cms">non-resident Indians</a> are getting wooed by the latest option of directly investing in government securities, which come with higher returns (compared to other fixed income products), a certainty in cash flow and without costs and commissions, and sovereign guarantee for the entire capital. The process may be a bit cumbersome for those without adequate patience for the infamous interfaces of India’s government websites. If the banks have to compete for deposits, the cost of funds will rise and eat into the profit margin. But that’s not the entire story For India’s banks, credit growth has improved but it is still far from the desired pace. Large corporations have still not ramped up investments and, therefore, borrowings have been tepid. This caps the lender’s ability to increase lending rates to cover the cost. Bank loans to industry at the end of September were lesser compared to six months earlier, according to RBI data. Most of India’s large companies and conglomerates are still in the process of repaying old loans and strengthening their balance sheets. Meanwhile, the growth in deposits moderated marginally to 10.1% in the 12 months to September, compared to 11% a year ago. These are a few points to consider for individual investors, including non-resident Indians, who are considering direct investments into India’s government bonds: Not all government securities are liquid. According to market watchers, only about 15 out of the 90 bonds available in the market are traded actively. The market is, currently, dominated by banks and institutional investors. Buying directly will be far easier than selling (before maturity) for smaller lots. After three years of holding, the return on investment in government securities via debt mutual funds is eligible for indexation (adjusting the cost to include impact of inflation) benefit while calculating capital gains. Direct investments are not eligible for the same. However, debt funds come with expenses which direct investments are free of. The money invested in these bonds now may lose its sheen once the interest rates start rising. Analysts at Goldman Sachs expect RBI to hike interest rates by 75 basis points in 2022. However, for now, there is enough headroom before the bank rates come at par with the bond yields.
