<ul><li><keyword id="6997863" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="adeco-consultancy">Adeco Consultancy</keyword> conned <keyword id="6357149" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="hdfc-bank">HDFC Bank</keyword> by endorsing 68 unqualified employees, including one at managerial level, over the span of two years.</li><li>51 of those employees were still working in HDFC when the frauds were detected. </li><li>The matter came to light during an internal investigation by the bank when cross-checking an employee reference. </li></ul>Recruiting is never easy, but being duped into hiring unqualified or fraudulent employees is even worse. But, Adeco Consultancy, an Indian consultancy firm was able to <a href="https://www.financialexpress.com/india-news/68-including-branch-manager-used-false-documents-to-get-jobs-hdfc-bank-finds-in-internal-probe/1366466/" data-type="tilCustomLink">pull it off</a> at one of India’s top private banks, HDFC. They were able to place 68 employees in different positions at the bank over a span of two years. The catch was that a lot of these employees had their resumes puffed up by the agency through forged documents. Reports indicate that this includes falsified salary slips, forged certificates and documents, as well as non-existent references. On realisation that the bank had been conned, HDFC filed a case against <a href="https://www.financialexpress.com/india-news/68-including-branch-manager-used-false-documents-to-get-jobs-hdfc-bank-finds-in-internal-probe/1366466/">Adeco Consultancy</a>. Figuring out the rabbit hole The matter came to light in February earlier this year, when the bank was cross-checking the references listed by one of its employees, Geetanjali Bagga. She had only just joined the bank as an assistant manager in November 2017. The modus operandi was further unraveled in an internal investigation when Bagga mentioned the role of Adeco in helping her get fake documents in order to make her profile look more impressive. She admitted having to pay ₹60,000 to Amit Choudhary from the consultancy for helping her clear the exam. The bank immediately went on a checking spree to verify the documents of other employees who had come in through the same consultancy. At the end of the day, the probe unveiled that a total of 68 candidates in the bank had been misrepresented when being hired. 51 of those employees are still working at HDFC. It turns out one of their own employees, <keyword id="287885" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Satyendra">Satyendra</keyword> Pal, was a part of the scam helping new candidates clear HDFC's online exam. It would start as simply as the consultancy wanting to offer training and assistance which would help candidates pass HDFC’s online exam and in return, the candidates were to pay a fee between ₹25,000 to ₹150,000, as reported by <a href="https://www.timesnownews.com/business-economy/companies/article/employment-fraud-gurugram-job-consultancy-firm-tricks-hdfc-bank-using-forged-documents-here-s-how/306668">Times Now,</a> In actuality, the recruitment firm approached potential candidates in a very systematic manner by first identifying them through various job portals and then reeling them in by offering them opportunities as per the current openings of the bank. So, in the middle of ‘training and assisting’ the candidates, they were asked to pay a hefty commission for the forged documents. The FIR filed by HDFC stated that Adeco Consultancy had positioned themselves as partners of the bank to fill in vacant job openings. The firm also had 360 different domain names, similar to those of other financial institutions, which could be provided as contact details for references. The police has <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/gurgaon/hdfc-bank-finds-68-used-fake-papers-for-job-one-a-branch-manager/articleshow/66422294.cms">booked</a> the firm under sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using forged document) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the <keyword id="75223" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Penal-Code">Indian Penal Code</keyword> (IPC).

Cyber security jobs: Big companies like Apple, Microsoft, Intel, TCS are hiring professionals

Other sectors that rolled out offers at IIM-V include education technology, infrastructure and manufacturing (18%), logistics and automobile (9%), FMCG and luxury goods (4%). Mumbai, Apr 26 () When the COVID-19 pandemic came ashore and moves like lockdowns were being deliberated upon, the USD 180-billion IT sector faced a huge challenge for business continuity. More than a month into it, industry executives feel it has been a blessing in disguise and will lead to a larger number of people to work from home in the post coronavirus world. They attribute the emerging scenario to cost and productivity gains out of WFH (Work From Home) and it is not just the IT sector which is reaping the benefits. Companies across the services sectors, including banks, are set to have fewer people work from the offices in the future. India was put under a three-week lockdown from March 25, which was extended by 19 more days till May 3, to arrest the spread of coronavirus infections. As the promised date nears, there is an increasing possibility that the lockdown will be extended in many pockets, which have turned into hotspots. At present, many employees travel long distances to workplaces in cities plagued with traffic issues and high air pollution. Largest software exporter TCS's Chief Executive and Managing Director Rajesh Gopinathan explained that over the decades, IT companies' model was based on employees trooping-in to cubicles often in specially erected or hired campuses for work, but the lockdown resulted in a quick shift to the WFH model. Keshav Murugesh, Chief Executive of business process management player WNS and former Chairman of IT industry lobby grouping Nasscom, said the association responded to the challenge by helping its members transport over 25 lakh desktops from offices to associates' residences within a fortnight, which ensured work can continue. Once they started working from home, companies are seeing gains on costs as well as efficiencies, and now, business leaders are certain that fewer people will be manning the cubicles spread across campuses. "WFH is working extremely well. With the kind of efficiencies that we have started delivering on WFH, there will be a significant impact in the longer term," Murugesh told , stating that in the future, a higher percentage of people will be working from home than pre-COVID days. Such a shift will be a blessing for women who are not able to continue with their careers because of family commitments, as they can continue devoting some time for work, Murugesh said, pegging the total number of such possible beneficiaries in millions. In a recent interaction, TCS's Chief Operating Officer N Ganapathy Subramaniam said the company is expecting to have only 25 per cent of its staff work from offices by 2025, though it was not clear when the company decided on the target. "We are seeing that our team is able to handle the transaction volumes. At the same time, we are seeing that the productivity, the velocity, the throughput of work has significantly increased. I do not believe that the gains will be lost. There will be a lot more to gain in this new model," he said. "… we don't believe that we need to have more than 25 per cent of our workforce at our facilities in order to make all the 100 per cent productive. That is one great realisation. We don't believe that every employee needs to be present all the time in our offices," Subramaniam added. The company has ensured that 90 per cent of its 3.55 lakh people working in India have been able to work from home in a secure manner. Veteran banker Aditya Puri, who has led HDFC Bank since its inception to be the largest by assets among the private sector ones, also seemed to agree with the IT industry. "Everybody who could work from home is already working from home. In fact, we are now examining whether even after coronavirus why these people should not work from home because it gives ample cost saving to us and (WFH) is a good benefit to the employee," Puri said on a conference call late last month. However, the industry's wishes cannot easily get transformed into practice, Murugesh said, pointing to the BPM (Business Process Management) industry's peculiar demands if a large portion of staff were to work from home. At present, he said the Department of Telecom and the Commerce Ministry have granted a limited period approval for carrying out WFH, and the same relaxations will have to be continued as well. Explaining the same, he said associates need specialised telephone lines to stay connected while most of the companies work out of campuses which are demarcated as Special Economic Zones, and enjoy taxation sops and other advantages because work happens from a specific area. The average number of ESG jobs posted stood at 12,400 between December 2022, and March 2023, while the average number of closed positions were 14,136. The average number of active ESG related jobs were 24,000. Organizations embracing ESG “ESG plays an important role if India has to attract global investments. ESG increases the chances of investments or chances of the acquisitions that most of the Indian companies today are looking at,” says Loliwala. Both big and small corporations in India have embraced ESG. Reliance Industries, for example, has integrated ESG into their business models. Led by their chief financial officer, their ESG team is a multi-disciplinary group responsible for all of Reliance’s environmental sustainability, stakeholder engagement and regulatory compliance activities. In order to enhance their commitment to ESG principles, HDFC Bank has formed an ESG committee. This committee consists of senior members from key departments within the bank and is chaired by a member of the senior management team. The ESG committee is responsible for developing and implementing the bank's ESG strategy, as well as establishing a roadmap to achieve the set targets. There are three categories of green jobs based on their degree of dependence on green skills,” says Manu Saigal, director, general staffing, Adecco India. Jobs that require green skills: These are jobs that cannot be performed without specialized knowledge of environmental sustainability. Jobs with significant potential to create and hone green skills: “These are jobs that are not necessarily focused on environmental sustainability but have the potential to develop green skills,” says Saigal. Jobs that do not require green skills: “These are jobs that are not specifically related to environmental sustainability but may contribute to sustainability indirectly,” says Saigal. The typical structure involves using various frameworks to collect and analyze data, which requires hiring individuals at entry-level and mid-level positions with backgrounds in computer science, mathematics, or engineering. ESG data is considered a type of alternative data that can be utilized in the analysis of companies. As a result, investors and hedge funds are utilizing it to identify investment opportunities with lower risk by assessing a company's favourable environmental and ethical factors. Changes to income tax slabs, passing of the tax on corporate dividends, liberalisation of education sector, extended tax holiday for affordable housing, and the initial public offering of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) were among the big proposals. However, the stock market did not seem very excited with the minister's proposals. "Investors stayed away from taking fresh positions ahead of the big event. Focus will turn to the Union Budget as all eyes will be on how Centre is going to bring growth as any increase in spending would result in widening of fiscal deficit. Global economy is also on the edge with slow growth fears significantly high after the outbreak of the virus," Vinod Nair, head of research at Geojit Financial Services told IANS earlier in the day. Insurance stocks like HDFC Life, ICICI Prudential, and SBI Life took a heavy beating, down anywhere between 5% and 8%, after the budget proposed the listing of LIC ⁠— the country's largest insurance giant with a corpus of ₹31 lakh crore⁠— that is likely to corner a lot of interest from investors. Technology stocks were propped up as the early part of Sitharaman's speech gave a lot of thrust to leveraging technology in a whole host of sectors from health and education to quantum computing and gene mapping. Even stocks like HUL, Asian Paints, and Bajaj Finance, which started the day on buoyant note hoping for sharp cuts in income tax and a boost for consumption including housing, gave up the early gains on exemptions. These new rates are available to those who forego exemptions, deductions, and rebates. Dividend distribution tax will be abolished, it will be taxable in the hands of the recipient. Cost to exchequer: ₹25,000 crore. ""The decision to remove dividend distribution tax was much-needed as it was resulting in triple taxation of corporate earnings. The shift to a simplified scheme of personal income tax is another welcome move as it removes distortionary influences in the individual’s savings choices even though the actual tax savings may not be significant for those who were availing deductions and exemptions," VP Nandakumar, MD &amp; CEO of Manappuram Finance Limited said. However, the stock of the company fell over 3.2% in trade. Shares of IDBI Bank surged as much as 17% after the Finance Minister said that the government will sell its remaining 47% stake (as of December 2019) in the bank. LIC owns 51% stake in IDBI Bank, the unlocking of value will make the insurance giant's IPO even more valuable. Zeal Aqua (up 14.4%), Waterbase (up 5.58%), Apex Frozen (up 4.55%), Avanti Feeds (up 2.93%) and Coastal Corporation (up 2.66%) gained due to a dedicated push for the fishing industry. Sitharaman said that the fish production will be increased 200 lakh tonnes a year and set a target of ₹1 lakh crore in fish exports. The education sector has been allowed to borrow money from abroad as well as to invite foreign students via a new entrance examination called the INDSAT. Shares of Navneet Education (up 2.33%), Zee Learn (up 2.19%), Career Point (up 1.98%) and MT Educare (up 1.97%), gained in trade. The speech discouraged the use of chemical fertilisers, and promote organic farming, dragging down stocks like Rashtriya Chemical Fertilisers. The ₹2.83 lakh crore allocation for agriculture, irrigation, and rural development did little to stokes of a revival in rural demand. Dividend distribution tax will be taxable in the hands of the recipient and not the company. This will cost 25,000 crore to the exchequer. Dividend and capital gains made by foreign funds on investment in infrastructure space will tax free. The budget also proposed to set up a 100 new airports in the next five years but stocks of airport construction majors like GMR Infra and GVK were down nearly 5% in afternoon trade.
