The feature was rolled out for Android beta testers last week. It is aimed to give its users the control to choose the image quality as per the need. As per <a href="https://wabetainfo.com/whatsapp-is-rolling-out-hd-photos-for-ios-beta-users/">WABetaInfo</a>, the feature will be available to or specific beta testers. It will allow users to select between three options of media upload quality: Auto (recommended), Best quality and Data saver. If you want to check whether you have received the update, you can go to WhatsApp settings and then “Storage and data” and look for the “Media upload quality” option. If you have not received the update, then you might not be eligible for the update yet. In ‘Media Upload Quality’, you will be able to select between the three options. If you select the “Best quality” option, it will send images compressed up to 80% of the original HD quality. If the image frame is bigger than 2048x2048, then it might get resized. The selection menu comes with a disclaimer that reads, “Best quality media are larger and can take longer to send”. <div type="image" title="WhatsApp Media Upload" msid="84755079" hostid="261"></div> If you choose the “Data saver” option, the image compression will be higher, which may lead to the loss of its image quality. This option is good for those with poor internet connectivity, but it is not recommended if users want to retain most of the original image quality. It is worth mentioning that this feature is not for sharing images as WhatsApp status. The images shared as the status will still be compressed. WhatsApp rolls out a new feature to send HD photos for select iOS users

However, with the latest updates, the feature has been extended to media messages. With the new feature, Users can edit captions for videos, GIFs and documents, within 15 minutes of sending the message. The addition of message editing in WhatsApp enables users to fix errors and improve their conversation, enhancing the experience of chat in general. "By extending this feature to images, videos, GIFs, and documents, WhatsApp allows users to enhance the clarity and context of those messages even after sending them, ensuring the best communication experience," the report said. Users can edit a message with a caption only from the device from which it was originally sent. With 225 grams weight, 9.8mm thickness and a massive 6.8-inch display, single-handed usage is tough. <div type="image" title="Moto G60 side" msid="83366668" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The Moto G60 from the side&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Some of the blame for the phone’s thickness and weight can be assigned to the massive 6,000mAh battery, but there are other phones with bigger batteries that weigh less and are slimmer. For instance, the Galaxy F62 has a 7,000mAh battery that weighs 218 grams. <div type="image" title="Moto G60 back" msid="83366649" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Moto G60 back panel&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Despite being a plastic phone, the Moto G60 looks and feels well made. The back of the phone is glossy and a fingerprint magnet, but it feels good to hold. The camera module does feel a little hastily designed, though. Along with the camera bump and the bad finish, it sticks out like a sore thumb. <div type="image" title="Moto G60 front" msid="83366643" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Moto G60 front&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The front of the Moto G60 houses a massive 6.8-inch display. Like many other phones in this range, the G60 also has a Full HD+ panel with 120Hz refresh rate, so scrolling, animations and gaming should look smooth and stutter-free. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Software – clean and bloat-free" comment="subhead" text="Software – clean and bloat-free">Software – clean and bloat-free</cmsannotation> Motorola does well on the software side and the Moto G60 comes with Android 11 out of the box. The device offers an almost stock Android experience along with some customization options that help in improving the user experience. <div type="image" title="Moto G60 user interface" msid="83366773" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Moto G60 user interface&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The phone comes with the Moto app pre-installed which lets you customise the theme with different colour schemes and icon shapes. You can also enable up to six different gestures to quickly access the camera, turn on the flashlight, unlock the phone and more. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Performance and battery life" comment="subhead" text="Performance and battery life">Performance and battery life</cmsannotation> The Moto G60 is equipped with the Snapdragon 732G chipset coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. In our usage, we found the Moto G60 to be adequately fast and smooth for daily tasks such as browsing, using social media and clicking pictures. We found that the Snapdragon 732G chipset is moderately powerful and offers good performance for the price. While the normal usage is smooth, we did notice some stuttering while playing heavy games such as Call of Duty: Mobile and Asphalt 9. The device is powered by a 6,000mAh battery and comes with 20W fast charging support. As the device offers only 20W fast charging and comes with a huge battery, it takes over 2 hours and 20 minutes to fully charge the device. It offers more than a day’s usage with moderate gaming, streaming, messaging and calls. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Camera" comment="subhead" text="Camera">Camera</cmsannotation> The Moto G60 is one of the few budget smartphones out there with a 108MP camera. It’s a great number when it comes to marketing, but numbers alone can be misleading. <div type="image" title="Moto G60 camera" msid="83366681" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Moto G60 rear camera&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> What’s important in a camera is the amount of data it captures and how it processes it to deliver crisp details, minimum noise and accurate colour reproduction alongside other factors. <div type="image" title="IMG_20210525_121137087_HDR" msid="83366710" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Image captured in day light conditions&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The Moto G60, in most cases, performs adequately well when it comes to daylight photos. There’s some room for improvement, especially when it comes to colour accuracy and details. <div type="image" title="IMG_20210525_121158548_HDR" msid="83366728" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Image captured in wide-angle mode&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> However, that said, there is a noticeable improvement in the way Motorola handles images now when compared to previously launched Moto smartphones. If you’re just looking to share photos on social media or amongst your family and friends on WhatsApp, the Moto G60 does well enough. But if you’re a pixel-peeper, you might end up noticing the less-than-stellar details and colour reproduction. Photos captured in low light conditions at night were average and we found the color tone to be slightly off in these images. The selfie camera is decent and produces good images with accurate colors in daylight conditions. Selfies captured at night are not as accurate and there is some room for improvement. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Verdict" comment="subhead" text="Verdict">Verdict</cmsannotation> With the Moto G60, Motorola has tried to strike a good balance between price, performance and to some extent, the design. It has to fend off tough rivals like the Realme 8 Pro and the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, and at a slightly higher price, the Mi 10i. The only concern in my usage was the camera experience – Motorola has improved the image quality compared to previous Moto G-series smartphones, but it still has some way to go.
