With a beard, fierce eyes and a buzz cut, this Lankesh seems barbarism personified and many called out the filmmakers for the apparent Islamisation of Ravana. As hashtags like #BoycottAdipurush and #BanAdipurush gained speed, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Tuesday warned the makers of the film of legal action if scenes showing Hindu religious figures in the "wrong" way were not removed. "I have seen the teaser of 'Adipurush'. There are objectionable scenes in it," Mishra, who is also the spokesperson of the state government, told reporters in Bhopal. The dresses and look of Hindu deities as seen in the trailer were not acceptable, he said. "Hanuman ji is shown wearing leather, whereas the description (in the scriptures) of the deity's costume is different... These are scenes that hurt religious sentiments. I am writing a letter to Om Raut to remove all such scenes from the film. If not removed, we will consider legal action," Mishra said. Echoing the minister's sentiments, a Twitter user wrote, "Ram and lakshamna wore khadau not leather shoes like the desert civilization people did. Nonsense movie." Director Raut said he is "disheartened" by the reaction to the teaser. "I was disheartened but not surprised because the film is made for a larger medium. You can cut it down to some extent, but can't bring it down to a mobile phone, that's an environment I can't control. "If given a choice, I had never put it on YouTube but that's the need of the hour. We need to put it there so that it reaches a wide audience," Raut told reporters at the media preview of film's 3D trailer on Tuesday. Producer Bhushan Kumar was unavailable for comment despite several attempts by PTI to reach out to him. Many on social media said they were appalled over Saif's appearance as a maniacal Lankesh, saying his look was inspired by Mughal rulers. Another scene recalled for some the American blockbuster sci-fi film series "Planet of the Apes". Many shared stills from "Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama", the 1993 animated film which was a Japan-India co-production. Directed by Japanese filmmaker <keyword id="15168281" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="yugo-sako" source="Orion">Yugo Sako</keyword>, it became a favourite of the 1990s generation kids who watched it several times on TV channels during re-runs. "#Adipurush had the golden chance to present us a film on the subject which is dear to everyone but sadly even with the colossal budget and modern technology it couldn't match even 1% of yugo sako's Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama," wrote a Twitter user. This is not the first time Saif has been in trouble for "Adipurush". In an interview to a newspaper in 2020, Saif had said the version of Raavan in "Adipurush" will be "humane". His remarks caused a stir in the not-so-virtual world of social media and the actor issued an apology for his comments, saying it was never his intention to hurt people's sentiments. "I've been made aware that one of my statements during an interview has caused a controversy and hurt people's sentiments. This was never my intention or meant that way. I would like to sincerely apologise to everybody and withdraw my statement," the actor had then said in a statement. Teaser lands 'Adipurush' in trouble over depiction of deities, demon king and bad CGI

On Thursday -- Ram Navami -- Ayodhya woke up to empty streets, barren Ghats of Saryu and deserted temples. Although the Supreme Court had cleared the path for construction of a grand Ram temple and the trust for the same has been set up and the Ram Lalla idol has also been shifted to a new structure in Manas Bhawan to pave the way for temple construction at the Ram Janambhoomi site, the corona scare and the subsequent lockdown has postponed all celebrations. The lockdown was strictly enforced and most of the residents could not perform the mandatory 'Kanya pujan' that marks the culmination of 'Navratri'. "The girls were not allowed to move out of houses by their parents who are wary of the deadly pandemic. Corona ke dar se koi nahin aaya. We will donate the amount in some temple," said <keyword id="8994241" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="ram-charan-srivastava">Ram Charan Srivastava</keyword>. Srivastava, 78, who has been living in Ayodhya for almost seven decades, said on phone: "I have never seen the city looking so desolate -- not even when riots took place after the demolition. People were, at least sitting on their terrace and peeping out of their windows. Today all temples are closed for public though 'aarti' is taking place inside. We can hear the sounds of 'aarti' but cannot move out. The police are extra alert today." Just before the lockdown, the state government had sealed the borders of the holy city and the saints had asked all devotees not to come to Ayodhya during Navratri and Ram Navami. "Even the local people are not being allowed to go to the Ghats of Saryu for a holy dip. It is only the priests of various temple who have been allowed," said a local shopkeeper. Two days before Ram Navami, barricades had been set up at the entry points at Saadatganj and Devkali. A junior priest at <keyword id="388937" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hanuman-Garhi">Hanuman Garhi</keyword> said that no one had expected that Ram Navami would be celebrated in such a subdued manner. Don't step out for 'Hanuman Jayanti', 'Shab-e-Barat': Ajit

New Delhi, The Indian Railways plans to reintroduce the Ramayana Circuit tours in March this year during Navratras with five air conditioned (AC) coaches, which will cover places associated with Lord Ram as mentioned in the epic Ramayana, after its successful run last year. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) said that the Ramayana Express will run this year during the Navratras from March 28. The IRCTC in a statement said that the special train will have 10 coaches which include five sleeper class non-AC coaches and five AC 3 tier coaches. Last year, the national transporter had run Ramayana Express with only sleeper class coaches which was a huge success and the response of the general public was so tremendous that all the available seats were booked in merely seven days' time. "Considering the previous response IRCTC Ltd has decided to launch this unique product in which some AC 3 tier coaches have also been added in addition to Sleeper class coaches," the IRCTC said. According to the IRCTC, the special train will start its journey from Delhi on March 28 and passengers can board this train from Safdarjung, <keyword id="44991" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ghaziabad">Ghaziabad</keyword>, Moradabad, Bareily and Lucknow stations. The train covers important destinations connected with the life of Lord Ram in India and Sri Lanka. While the Indian leg will be covered by train, the Sri Lankan tour will be undertaken by flight from Chennai. The IRCTC said that in the 16 night-17 day tour, tourists will be visiting the places associated with Lord Ram also known as 'Ramayana Circuit of India'. "Major places covered in this journey are Ram Janmabhoomi and Hanuman Garhi at Ayodhya, Bharat <keyword id="47393" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mandir">Mandir</keyword> at Nandigram, Sita Mata Mandir at Sitamarhi (Bihar), and Janakpur (Nepal), <keyword id="491219" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tulsi-Manas">Tulsi Manas</keyword> Mandir and Sankat Mochan Mandir at Varanasi, <keyword id="7442403" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="sita-samahit-sthal">Sita Samahit Sthal</keyword> at Sitamarhi (UP), Triveni Sangam , Hanuman Mandir and Bharadwaj Ashram at Prayag, Shringi Rishi Mandir at <keyword id="122671" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shringverpur">Shringverpur</keyword> , Ramghat and Sati Anusuiya Mandir at Chitrakoot, Panchvati at Nasik, Anjanadri Hill and Hanuman Janm Sthal at Hampi &amp; Jyotirlinga Shiva Mandir at Rameshwaram," it said. In Sri Lanka, they will visit Sita Mata Mandir, Ashok Vatika, Vibhishana Temple and Shiva Temple at Munneshwaram-Munnavari among other sites. According to IRCTC, the Indian leg of the journey in the sleeper class will cost Rs 16,065 per person whereas for the AC class Rs 26,775 per person will be charged. And those going to Sri Lanka will have to pay Rs 37,800 per person with only 40 limited seats. The passengers willing to travel to Sri Lanka will be required to de-board the Ramayana Express on 15th day at Chennai on April 11 and from there they will be taken by flight to Colombo. According to IRCTC, there are 360 berths in sleeper class and 330 berths in AC 3 tier class. Considering Navratra period, all the food to be served to the travellers will be cooked without onions and garlic.
