Bengaluru, April 1 (IANS) Public sector Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (<keyword id="68124" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="hal" source="Orion">HAL</keyword>) has reported its highest ever revenue of over Rs 24,000 crore (provisional and unaudited) for the financial year ending on March 31. Compared to the previous year's revenues of Rs 22,755 crore, the company has registered a 6 per cent revenue growth. "Despite the challenges of the second wave of Covid-19 during the first quarter of the year and the consequent production loss, the Company could meet the targeted revenue growth with improved performance during the balance period of the year," said R. Madhavan, CMD, HAL. The second wave of Covid-19 had compelled the company to declare a phased lockdown at various divisions during April and May 2021. The employees had put in additional hours in June and July 2021 to compensate for the loss of man hours due to the lockdown. Further, based on the improved financial performance and cash flow position, the <keyword id="13520461" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="credit-rating-agencies-care-ratings" source="Orion">Credit Rating Agencies CARE Ratings</keyword> and <keyword id="1990286" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="icra-limited" source="Orion">ICRA Limited</keyword> have upgraded the Company's credit rating from AA+ Stable to AAA/Stable during the financial year. HAL achieved record revenues through production of 44 new helicopters/aircraft, 84 new engines, overhauling 203 aircraft / helicopters and 478 engines, a statement from HAL noted. Recently, HAL has bagged a contract for production of 15 Light Combat Helicopters (<keyword id="157962" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="lch" source="Orion">LCH</keyword>), 10 for <keyword id="6355075" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="iaf" source="Orion">IAF</keyword> and five for the <keyword id="6354416" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="indian-army" source="Orion">Indian Army</keyword> at a cost of Rs 3,887 crore along with Infrastructure sanctions worth Rs 377 crore. Considering the improved financial performance during the financial year, HAL paid an interim dividend of Rs 40 per share representing 400 per cent on the face value of Rs 10 per share during FY 2021-22. HAL records its highest ever revenue of ₹24,000 crore in FY 2021-22

An Integrated <keyword id="15096121" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cryogenic-Engine-Manufacturing-Facility" source="Orion">Cryogenic Engine Manufacturing Facility</keyword> (ICMF) set up by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (<keyword id="68124" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="hal" source="Orion">HAL</keyword>) that would cater to the entire rocket engine production under one roof for Indian Space Research Organisation (<keyword id="6358064" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ISRO" source="Orion">ISRO</keyword>) was inaugurated by <keyword id="14514529" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="President-Droupadi-Murmu" source="Orion">President Droupadi Murmu</keyword> in Bengaluru on Tuesday. The state-of-the-art ICMF, set up over an area of 4,500 square metres houses over 70 hi-tech equipment and testing facilities for manufacturing cryogenic (CE20) and semi-cryogenic (SE2000) engines of Indian rockets. In 2013, an MOU was signed with ISRO for establishing the facility for manufacturing cryogenic engine modules at HAL, Aerospace Division, and it was subsequently amended in 2016 for setting up of ICMF with an investment of Rs 208 crore. Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, <keyword id="14657097" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ISRO-Chairman-S-Somanath" source="Orion">ISRO Chairman S Somanath</keyword>, HAL Chairman and Managing Director C B Ananthakrishnan, among others were present at the event. The commissioning of all the critical equipment for the manufacturing and assembly requirement has been completed, Bengaluru-headquartered HAL has said, adding that the pre-production activities which involve preparation of the process and quality plans, and drawings, have also commenced. HAL will start realising the modules by March 2023, it said. HAL Aerospace Division manufactures liquid propellant tanks and launch vehicle structures of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV MK-II), GSLV Mk-III and also stage integration for GSLV MK-II. "The facility (ICMF) will cater to the entire Rocket Engine Manufacturing under one roof for ISRO. It will boost self-reliance in manufacturing of Hi-thrust Rocket engines," the HAL said. Cryogenic engines are the most widely used engines world over in launch vehicles, the statement said. Due to the complex nature of the cryogenic engine, till date only a few countries -- the USA, France, Japan, China and Russia -- have mastered the cryogenic technology. On January 5, 2014 India successfully flew GSLV-D5 with a cryogenic engine and became the sixth country in developing cryogenic engines (made by ISRO through private industries) and became the sixth country in developing cryogenic engines. Space exploration in the future is mostly dependent upon cryogenic technology. On that occasion, the President also laid the foundation stone for the Zonal Institute of Virology (South Zone) virtually. "Bhadauria flew the twin-seater LCH for a hour, taking off around noon from our airport in the city's eastern suburb, with our deputy chief test pilot Wing Commander (Retd) S.P. John," a Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (<keyword id="68124" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="HAL">HAL</keyword>) official told IANS here. The Air Chief, who is in the city to unveil the 59th annual conference of the Indian Society of Aerospace Medicine, undertook the sortie in the HAL-made LCH for the first time, as a co-pilot, dressed in a fighter pilot suit. Designed and developed by the city-based state-run defence behemoth (HAL), LCH is the world's multi-role lightest attack helicopter, with a highest flight ceiling. "The LCH has been certified by the relevant agency for induction into the IAF and the <keyword id="6354416" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Army">Indian Army</keyword> soon," said the official. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) had approved the proposal for initial batch of 15 LCHs. The IAF issued Request for Proposal (RFP) for 15 limited series production of the helicopter, including 5 for the Army. Indian Air Force chief flies HAL's home-grown Light Combat Helicopter ahead of its induction into the armed forces

New Delhi, Jan 30 () The government is planning to sell 15 per cent stake in Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) through an offer for sale, which could fetch about Rs 4,000 crore to the exchequer.
 The government is looking to appoint up to three merchant bankers for managing the offer for sale (OFS) and has invited bids for the same by February 21.
 It holds 89.97 per cent stake in state-owned defence firm HAL, which was listed on the stock exchanges in March 2018.
 "The government intends to divest 15 per cent paid-up equity capital of HAL out of its shareholding of 89.97 per cent through OFS method of shares by promoters," said the request for proposal (RfP) floated by the finance ministry for appointment of merchant bankers.
 The sale of 15 per cent stake in HAL would fetch about Rs 4,000 crore to the government, calculated at the current market price. Shares of HAL closed at Rs 811.60, down 1.69 per cent over the previous close on the BSE.
 The merchant bankers would advise the government on the timing and modalities of the OFS, conduct market surveys and roadshows and advise on regulatory norms, among others.
 In the financial year 2018-19, HAL had clocked a profit after tax of Rs 2,282 crore. As on March 2019, its net worth stood at Rs 10,848 crore.
 So far, in the current financial year, the government has mopped up Rs 18,094.59 crore through disinvestment transactions as compared with the budget target of Rs 1.05 lakh crore. JD HRS

Govt plans to sell 15 pc stake in HAL via offer for sale

Lucknow, Feb 7 () The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has received the Initial Operational Clearance for production of the Light Utility Helicopter, which is set to replace the ageing fleet of Cheetah and Chetak helicopters of the Indian armed forces, the company said on Friday. R Madhavan, CMD, HAL, received the Initial Operational Clearance (IOC) document from G Sateesh Reddy, Secretary, Department of Defence R &amp; D, and Chairman, DRDO, at the Bandhan programme held during the ongoing DefExpo 2020 here on Friday, a statement issued by the HAL said. The document was handed over in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and others, it added. Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) is a single-engine, lightweight and highly agile three-ton utility helicopter, indigenously designed and developed to meet the operational requirements of the Army and the Indian Air Force. The LUH will soon replace the ageing fleet of Cheetah and Chetak helicopters. Madhavan said the development was a momentous occasion for the HAL. "It reinforces our commitment towards indigenous R&amp;D programmes on self-reliance and enhancing operational effectiveness of the Indian armed forces. The HAL is fully geared up to fulfil the requirements of its customers in a time-bound manner," he said. Arup Chatterjee, Director, Engineering and R&amp;D, HAL, said the performance of basic configuration of the LUH in all terrains and under all weather conditions was satisfactory. "The HAL is moving towards the next phase of integrating and flight testing of mission and role equipment on the LUH," he said. The statement said one LUH prototype is part of flying display and another is part of static display at the DefExpo 2020. Three prototypes have been built and cumulatively completed over 550 flights under various terrains and climatic conditions like cold weather, hot weather, sea-level and high-altitude, complying to stringent certification and user requirements, it said. The LUH's endurance and reliability was established during the hot weather and high-altitude trials where it was ferried from Bengaluru, covering over 7,000-km distance and continuously flying for 17 days without any abnormalities, the statement said. HAL says received IOC for Light Utility Helicopter

It was in the esteemed presence of India’s defence minister Mr. Manohat Parrikar that country’s home-grown basic trainer aircraft, called Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40 (<keyword id="1552167" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="HTT-40">HTT-40</keyword>), made its inaugural flight in Bengaluru. 
 The two-seater aircraft has been designed and developed by the <keyword id="86569" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hindustan-Aeronautics-Limited">Hindustan Aeronautics Limited</keyword>, and was flown by Group Captain C Subramaniam and Group Captain Venugopal, who took a 10 to 15 minutes flight at the <keyword id="68124" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="HAL">HAL</keyword> Airport in Bengaluru. 
 
The craft is aimed at being used for the first stage training for all flying cadets of the three services, and was flown for the first time on May 31. 
 As per sources, the <keyword id="15141" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-Air-Force">Indian Air Force</keyword> will procure 70 such aircrafts. 
 
 
Detailed design phase of HTT-40, launched in August 2013, was completed in May 2015 because of HAL’s internal funds after which it took another 12 months to fly the first prototype. 
 
As per HAL, the team that worked on HTT-40 programme is "young" and had an average age of 29 when it was started. Pperational clearance is being aimed by 2018, for which the company will be manufacturing three prototypes and two static-test specimens. 
 
The aircraft was tested amidst heavy rains as well, and successfully undertook wet runway landing. 
 
As per HAL officials, HTT-40 can boast of 80% of indigenous content, since more than 75 systems out of the total 90 used in the aircraft have been sourced from local players and sister divisions of HAL.

His head moves back and forth. His eyes move. He has blood pressure, pulse, pulse oximetry, glucose measurement.Narrator: In many situations, medical students practice on standardized patients who are actors faking certain symptoms, but those actors probably don't want to be stuck with a needle over and over again. Instead, students can use HAL to learn how to do more physically invasive procedures, like putting in a breathing tube or starting an IV. And because his body is programmable, HAL can show signs of poor health that an actor might not be able to mimic.When you shine a light on HAL's eyes, his pupils may or may not dilate. Even really good actors probably can't control their pupils. And HAL actually responds to real equipment. If he starts to flatline, a nurse can use a defibrillator to shock his heart back into action. HAL also has a variety of internal motors and pumps that move air and fluids around, which help it mimic bodily functions, like breathing and using the bathroom.Archetto: He has a small reservoir in his left finger, left middle finger, for glucose measurement. So you can take a regular glucometer and you can actually put a glucose solution in there, prick his finger, and it would give you an actual glucose reading.Narrator: HAL also has reservoirs for holding fake urine, fake blood, and there's even one in his head for holding fake tears. We have artificial blood. It's honestly just a powder that you add water to and it creates a red fluid, but there's also urine and as I mentioned, there are tears. For tears, it's water. For urine, it's food coloring. Narrator: The educator can also modify HAL's responses on the fly. If a training team isn't working fast enough, the teacher can program HAL's software to make his blood pressure go up or his breathing get faster.Archetto: Nothing ever goes according to plan in the emergency room or in critical care. So you may have a plan of care for a particular patient, but something changes and it all goes south in a hurry. We can make HAL respond just as a patient would be. So that's become so valuable in those learning environments.Narrator: But HAL doesn't only teach doctors and nurses how to perform medical procedures. It helps students learn how to interpret and appropriately respond to a young patient's behavior. When you look at HAL, you can tell that he's not a real boy, but his facial expressions and simulated emotions still have an effect on the physicians and nurses in training.Henry Henao: We have a concept called suspending disbelief. So it's the fact that, okay I know that it's a mannequin, it's a simulator. They know it's a mannequin and it's made of plastic and electronic parts, but they look beyond that. So we ask them to forgive the fact that it's not a real patient, and once they break through that they really start making very human connections to the patient in front of them. And they, yeah, it kind of melts away.Narrator: People don't always communicate verbally, especially young children, and that's why HAL's creators programmed him to have these non-verbal reactions.Archetto: When he cries, he cries real tears and that's important because, again, that's a way of communicating.Narrator: At times, HAL's responses are so real that people respond to him like he's a human. Archetto: HAL was there and he was sitting in his bed and we made him cry, and one of the nurses, who was in attendance, reached down and actually picked him up and tried to console him. She actually hugged him. So, it does have that impact on caregivers. It makes the scenario very realistic.HAL: My family says I'm one of the smartest kids around. India's indigenous Light Utility Helicopter to meet the requirement of Armed Forces

An <keyword id="68124" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="hal" source="Orion">HAL</keyword> official, on condition of anonymity, told PTI that they carried out orders as received. The HTFT-42 trainer aircraft has been kept at the HAL's Hall-3 here at the five-day aviation exhibition. Three days ago, the display came up at the pavilion eliciting curiosity among onlookers. As it hit headlines, the defence PSU removed it without citing any particular reason. Bengaluru, The <keyword id="6355100" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Navy">Indian Navy</keyword> has received three "made in <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>" <keyword id="6706498" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Advanced-Light-Helicopters">advanced light helicopters</keyword>, customised for coastal security, from the <keyword id="86569" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hindustan-Aeronautics-Limited">Hindustan Aeronautics Limited</keyword> (HAL) on Friday. The Mark-III Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) is meant for coastal security. Out of the 16 Mk-III helicopters, HAL delivered three to Indian <keyword id="42407" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Navy">Navy</keyword> Chief Admiral Karambir Singh at Aero India. The helicopters are fully loaded multi mission helicopter is fitted with an array of advanced sensors. This will augment the Navy's responsibility for coastal security placed on it by the government after 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks that claimed the lives of 166 people and left 300 others injured. The helicopter features a full glass cockpit with HAL's Integrated Architecture Display System (IADS), more powerful "Shakti" (Safran Ardiden 1H1) <keyword id="240487" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="engines">engines</keyword>, and a host of new systems. The Indian Navy had ordered 16 Mk-III to supplement its ageing and depleting fleet of Alouettes (Chetaks) - from HAL. These helicopters have come up with latest-generation avionics and role equipment. It is primarily meant for use in a shore-based role. The Mk-III ALH are also equipped with an indigenous low frequency dunking sonar (LFDS) developed by Kochi-based Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory. The sonar's units are being produced by state-owned <keyword id="91484" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharat-Electronics-Limited">Bharat Electronics Limited</keyword> with a host of sub-vendors downstream. The aircraft has also a nose-mounted surveillance radar with 270-degree coverage that can detect, classify and track multiple marine targets. It also has synthetic-aperture radar, inverse synthetic-aperture radar, and moving target indication classification functions.
