New Delhi: As counting for Assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir began on Tuesday, and early trends showed <keyword id="19895371" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Congress" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Congress" meta.hostid="83" meta.entityid="Congress">Congress</keyword> candidates leading in both Haryana and Jammu Kashmir, Congress workers distributed sweets and celebrated the party's likely victory with 'dhol' beats and slogans. As of 9:30 am, Congress was leading in 18 seats in Haryana and 33 seats in Jammu and Kashmir. Visuals showed Congress worker Jagdish Sharma and other party workers distributing jalebis and laddoos outside the Congress office as the counting of votes for the Haryana and Jammu Kashmir Assembly Elections was underway. Congress workers also gathered outside the party headquarters on Tuesday morning and raised slogans in support of the party on the counting day for the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Speaking to ANI, Congress worker Jagdish Sharma said, "This is Haryana's famous jalebi. We have brought laddus as well as jalebi. People of Haryana like jalebi a lot and if it has the taste of victory then it will be even better. I believe everyone wants to eat jalebi, <keyword id="19895780" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rahul-Gandhi" source="keywords">Rahul Gandhi</keyword>'s jalebi, jalebi of love, jalebi of affection, jalebi of victory in Haryana. Exuding confidence in the party's victory, the Congress workers said that the belief in the party's success is a result of Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra and Nyay Yatra initiatives, which advocates for farmers, women, and laborers while promoting inclusivity across all castes and religions and resonating well with the public. Congress worker Jagdish Sharma told ANI, "I think the entire country is congratulating us. Even people from the BJP are congratulating us. This is the triumph of victory and defeat of lies. People like Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra and Nyay Yatra, and his speaking up for farmers, women and labourers and pushing every caste and religion forward. We are winning Haryana and JK. Meanwhile, the counting of votes for assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana began on Tuesday at 8 am. The J-K assembly election for 90 constituencies was held over three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1, respectively. Meanwhile, polling for the 90 seats of the Haryana Assembly ended on October 5. Chief Minister <keyword id="20928101" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nayab-Singh-Saini" source="keywords">Nayab Singh Saini</keyword> on Tuesday expressed confidence in forming the government for the third time in the state adding that the BJP has worked with honesty whereas Congress did a lot of corruption. Hitting out at the opposition, the Haryana CM said that the Congress works for power while the BJP works for service. "Today is the day of counting and I am confident that as a result of the works done by the BJP government in the past ten years, we will be forming the government in Haryana for the third time. Our government will continue to serve the people of Haryana. Congress works for power, BJP works for service," the Chief Minister said to the reporters. Nayab Singh offered prayers at Shri Dakshin Mukhi Hanuman Temple located in Brahma Sarovar ahead of the counting of votes for the Haryana assembly elections. Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal stated that 93 counting centres have been set up for 90 assembly constituencies in 22 districts of the state. Two counting centres each have been set up for the Badshahpur, Gurugram, and Pataudi assembly constituencies, while one counting centre each has been established for the remaining 87 assembly constituencies, where the counting will take place. To monitor the counting process, 90 counting observers also have been appointed by the Election Commission. A meeting was held to review the counting preparedness with Deputy Commissioners/District Election Officers, to provide instructions for ensuring a well-organized counting process on October 8. Accurate information on each round of counting will be uploaded in a timely manner, a release said. Meanwhile in JK, amid speculation over possible permutations and combinations for government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Tuesday expressed hope for positive outcome. "Here's wishing all my colleagues and allies the very best of luck for today. We fought the good fight and now, InshaAllah, the results will reflect that." he said. The Election Commission of India said that an overall 63.88 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the Assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The poll panel said that a voter turn of 69.69 percent was recorded in the third phase held on October 1. The security has been heightened at a counting centre in Jammu. On the day of the counting, the strong rooms will be opened in the presence of candidates, their authorized representatives, Returning Officers (ROs)/Assistant Returning Officers (AROs), and ECI observers, with videography conducted. Mobile phones will not be allowed inside the counting centres. During the process, only authorized individuals, officials, or staff will be permitted inside and around the counting centres. People and political party representatives have been requested not to crowd the counting centres and check the results at home. The results will be available on the Election Commission of India's website http://results.eic.in/ and through the Voter Helpline App. Exit polls have predicted that Congress is poised to win Haryana and that the National Conference-Congress alliance has an edge in Jammu and Kashmir. The results are likely to reflect political sentiments as parties gear up for upcoming electoral battles in Maharashtra, Jharkhand. (ANI)

The total number of candidates who contested from Gurgaon is 22 which includes one female candidate. The number of voters in the constituency as per the 2014 election statistics is 1,244,437 comprising of 579,905 males and 664,532 females. There are 1308 polling stations in the constituency. Gurgaon is one of the most important constituencies in India that plays a significant role in the state as well as parliamentary elections. During Lok Sabha elections 2019 polling Gurgaon constituency recorded 67% voting which was down from the 71% observed in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. As per the message published by the Election Commission, the voter turnout in Gurgaon during 2019 general elections was good when compared with the averages gathered from the other constituencies of Haryana.

However, the BJP and its allies led by Manohar Lal Khattar have fallen short of the majority. The midway mark is at 45 and the winning side needs at least 46 to form the government. Embarrassingly for hte BJP, seven of its state cabinet ministers have lost their own seats. "I thank the people of Haryana for blessing us. We will continue to work with the same zeal and dedication for the state’s progress. On the other hand, Congress has gained hugely in vote share compared to the last assembly elections and is leading in 28 seats so far. However, there is one from India Today-Axis that has predicted a hung assembly in the state, leaving room for some anxiety in all camps. The BJP had won 47 seats in the 2014 Haryana assembly election, Congress won 15 seats, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won 19 seats, while others won 9 seats. Factors at play in 2019 The assembly elections this year took place five months after the BJP’s clean sweep in the Parliamentary polls, just like in 2014. However, this year, there was less excitement on the voting day. The turnout fell to 65%, down from 76.54% in the previous election. In the general elections earlier this year, the BJP was able to garner a clear majority even in the state with 34% of the votes and 70% of the seats. The government in Haryana has largely mirrored the one at the Centre, either by electing the same party or an ally in the state. Going by that trend, BJP had an upper hand. However, the larger economic slowdown in the country has had a major impact on Haryana's voter sentiment. The state is one of India's largest automobile hubs and accounts for two thirds of passenger cars, 50% of tractors and 60% of motorcycles manufactured in the country, according to the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF). The infamous slowdown in car sales has led to large-scale job losses in Haryana. Districts such as Panipat, Gurugram, Faridabad, Hisar and Sonipat are home to many textile businesses, particularly, readymade cotton garments, which is one of the major exports of Haryana. The sector is dire straits due to loss of competitive edge to other countries in the region and that too, has hurt the livelihood of many people. The agrarian distress, also widespread in the country, has also shown its impact in the state. Still, the state economy has grown at a compounded annual growth rate of 12.67% over the last seven years and has led to much prosperity in many parts. This is in part due to the explosion of IT and IT-enabled services in the state, especially in the city of Gurgaon. The political balance Politically, the state’s votes were divided into Jats and Punjabi — the two dominant social segments. Over the last few years, the Punjabis have preferred the BJP. Which is why BJP got a large chunk of its seats from Punjabi-dominated areas Chandigarh, Panchkula, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal and Panipat — pretty much the entire route from Delhi to Chandigarh except Sonepat. However, the BJP has managed to consolidate the upper castes in the state into a significant vote bank which has benefited the party hugely in diluting the dominance of the Jats. 30% of the state population is from the lowest rung of the Indian society, the Dalits. They are not known to be BJP backers but as seen in the 2019 Parliamentary elections, some of the traditional caste calculus tend to break in the absence of a credible opposition. Since his election, Chief Minister Khattar has seen many controversies including an agitation by Jats demanding the benefits of the ‘Other Backward Class’, protests by many thousands of supporters of a self-styled Godman, Baba Rahim, and small-scale riots on the streets over a movie that was later released under the title of Padmavat, to name a few. Yet, a series of family feuds and corruption charges have kept opposition leaders busy firefighting most of the time and less prepared for the electoral battle. Add to that, Narendra Modi’s charm that worked wonders in the recently concluded general elections and since then, some emotive issues like the suspension of Article 370 that gave the state of Jammu and Kashmir a ‘special’ status have been largely well received by the people of the state. The opposition particularly the Congress made some gains but it wasn't enough to capitalise on BJP's lapses. "Due to the many constraints resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, many heart patients have had to postpone their follow up visits to their doctor. Importantly, advised elective cardiac procedures such as stenting, angiographies etc are suffering major delays, a cause of grave concern. During this time, the fatality rate in patients with cardiovascular diseases including heart failure also has been abnormally high at 10.5% as against 2.3% in the general population. This serious interruption in the continuum of care for heart patients can lead to severe criticalities and untimely deaths that could be prevented,” said Dr Gurpreet Sandhu, President, Council for Healthcare and Pharma. According to doctors, the coronavirus restrictions laid down by the government have resulted in some unhealthy changes in people’s lifestyles, which might result in a cardiovascular problem.Stress, poor diet, and emotional turmoil are factors that could take a toll on the heart. “The psychological effects (loneliness, stress, anxiety, isolation, unemployment fear and economic burden) of the pandemic combined with other lifestyle factors like smoking and drinking, irregular eating habits, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity may increase cardiovascular problem cases during the pandemic,” Dr Partap Chauhan, Director, Jiva Ayurveda. Prevention is better than cure Dr Chauhan advises people to practice yoga and pranayama to reduce stress levels. He also suggests a gentle head massage or full body massage to reduce the load on your heart. “Eat well, regularly and healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly at least for 15 to 20 minutes, use virtual methods of socialising,” suggest Dr. Mahesh Ghogare, Senior Cardiologist from Terna speciality Hospital &amp; Research Centre. The need for a fit mind and healthy body is paramount, especially during this pandemic. And it is important that we adopt a healthy lifestyle and diet. People must ensure intake of a nutritious diet rich in vegetables, fruits, and lean meats. An additional workout regime — even a short duration of 30 minutes — will go a long way in boosting your immunity and physical regimen.
