By Justin Rao Mumbai, May 17 () Actor Gul Panag says the coronavirus pandemic has laid bare the "inconvenient truth" of the socioeconomic divide in our society and her latest project "Paatal Lok" drives home the very point.The neo-noir series, also starring Jaideep Ahlawat and Neeraj Kabi, takes a deep dive into the hinterland India in the form of an investigative thriller, while talking about crime, politics, caste, and class divide. Gul said the Amazon Prime Video Original series isn't an "empty entertainer"."It'll leave you with a lot to think about things which otherwise you wouldn't think about... With the migrant crisis that has come out post COVID-19, the inconvenient truth that we would barely talk about or refer to... It's a difficult thing to do, to manage so many layers and not diverge from the narrative that they were setting in."Calling Renu the "only bright spot" in the entire series, "The Family Man" actor said her character is the only person who is trying to make the most of her situation."Up until the case falls into her husband's lap, his career wasn't going anywhere and she had made peace with that as well. "Even though their son is unhappy because they've put him in a school which is socially out of their league, the husband is frustrated, but in all of this she decides to take them under her wing so that they remain as happy as possible," she added. <ul><li>Following the successful response to its recent brand films #AisiReachGaye and ‘Kalki Kal Dekhenge,’ OYO recently launched a new advertisement with Chitrangada Singh and Kunal Kapoor.</li><li>In the ad, Kapoor loses a bet to Chitrangada and plays golf while wearing a ghagra.</li><li>This unique set of ads from OYO has generated a lot of chatter on social media and has sparked a meme fest.</li><li>We speak to Mayur Hola - Head of Global Brand, OYO and Kavikrut, Chief Growth Officer, OYO about the latest campaign, its target audience and timing.</li></ul>At a time when hospitality brands are observing a silent period, OYO rolled out a multi-film 360-degree campaign with Gul Panag, Kalki Koechlin, Chitrangada Singh and Kunal Kapoor. It was during the peak of COVID that OYO aired its first advertisement during the India VS South Africa ODI match. While it was a risky bet for the brand, especially before its upcoming IPO, to talk about travel without really propagating travelling, OYO’s new campaign has still won many hearts and has also organically trended on Twitter thrice for all of its ads. Last year in December, OYO saw its <a href="https://twitter.com/riteshagar/status/1479737071719759875">busiest month</a> as over a million people booked rooms with the brand for the New Year’s long weekend. We asked OYO whether this campaign was planned for December and delayed due to the sudden surge in cases, Kavikrut, Chief Growth Officer, OYO said no, it felt like the right time now. Explaining why OYO chose January to roll their campaign out, he said, “December was one of the highest travel peaks for India and yet, that's not when you saw this campaign. You're seeing this campaign at a time when you're stuck at home, and you're thinking about being out there either for travel, leisure or for business. You're thinking about where else I could be? And it's at that point of time, we want there to be a recall and memory of OYO in their minds and for what could it be? That's when you zoom back into the features and say, it could be anywhere which is nearby, Assi Reach Gaye ad is about that; you don't need to reach anywhere, you could just stay here. We felt like this is a good time to just put them out there. People will love the films irrespective of the time we are in.” As the whole country relives 2020 and people are stuck at home yet again, they have the space and time to watch new content and absorb it. Mayur Hola - Head of Global Brand, OYO added that any consideration campaign needs to start a little bit ahead of when you want the customer to act, particularly when you decide that the consideration you seek is from a newer audience. “So our intent to do it now is to be a little ahead of the game and not just advertise when things open up and people have already made plans. And a lot of audiences today react spontaneously. Consideration takes a little more time, hence, the need for the campaign that we planned. I don't think anything else plays a role at all in our choice of timing. This is simply consideration and perception that we would focus on and are giving it the time it needs to bed in,” explained Hola. OYO’s first advertisement of 2022, ‘Assi reach gaye’ featured Gul Panag and an adorable kid who stole all the attention. The film showcases how a kid, who hasn’t had a chance to travel due to the pandemic, would react on a long road trip. It takes you through many stages of his journey, starting with the child enjoying the views of the scenic hills, turning to boredom and finally to restlessness after spending hours in the car. Hereon, the film captures the many quirks of a now impatient 4-year-old child, who incessantly nudges his mom from the backseat and asks, “Assi reach gaye?” With over 4000 tweets, this ad trended on number 2 on Twitter. <div type="Youtube" id="ZK7WgxuO6X8" title="Assi Reach Gaye | OYO Rooms Official" thumbUrl="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/ZK7WgxuO6X8/mqdefault.jpg"></div> It is for the first time that the relatively young hospitality brand OYO is targeting Indian families with a huge media splash. Hola mentioned that OYO has seen some very unique use cases, which inspired its latest campaign to some extent, and realised that while the brand has a young perception in the market, it is used by audiences across age groups. Sharing a few examples, he said, “We live in small homes across the country and people sometimes just don't have the space to fight. So on the surface, you have a couple checking into a room but really they're going in there to squabble because they can’t scream at each other at home. I know that feeling. We have unique use cases of people taking a pitstop, studying, spending the night after a party, which is a big one for us; people just found it safer to check into a room nearby wherever they've been partying and not take a long ride by cab back home. So, we're trying to talk about the various audiences who own us already, and reach out to even further audiences, in terms of families and so on. In one way, it is reflective of usage already and in another way, we want to add more to that pool.” Following the successful response to its brand films ‘Assi Reach Gaye’ and ‘<a href="https://youtu.be/ZWt_6msbML0">Kalki Kal Dekhenge,</a>’ OYO released a third ad film last week featuring Chitrangada Singh and Kunal Kapoor. With this film, OYO highlights its app’s ‘search the view’ feature which enables people to discover stays with a view they would like. In the ad, Kunal loses a bet to Chitrangada and plays golf while wearing a ghagra. Within a few hours, this film also trended on Twitter on number three with more than 5,500 tweets. The idea behind these ads, Hola said, is to put OYO’s app at the heart of everything. It promotes different features that the app offers. It will be seen in multiple channels across GEC, News, Infotainment and the Kids genre. It will also promote the first film across its owned PR channels.

OYO is now targeting families through its communications to ring in its next phase of growth

Mumbai, Dec 29 () The much-awaited second season of <keyword id="18635" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> Prime Video's critically-acclaimed web series "The <keyword id="502674" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="family-man">Family Man</keyword>", fronted by Manoj Bajpayee, is slated to be released on February 12. The streamer on Tuesday released an intriguing first look of the show's upcoming chapter on social media -- a picture of a time bomb reading '2021' as time. "Don't know about the timer here, but we're exploding with excitement," the post on Amazon Prime's official Twitter account read. A source close to the production confirmed to that the release date of the new season is February 12, 2021. Bajpayee, who plays intelligence officer Srikant Tiwari on the show, also shared the poster on Instagram. "The wait is over. This is our New Year's gift for you. Open it carefully," he wrote in the caption. According to a press release issued by the streamer, the New Year will see Srikant (Bajpayee) and JK Talpade, played by Sharib Hashmi, taking on a bigger and deadlier mission. Along with keeping up with a high-pressure job and keeping his country safe, Srikant will also be seen juggling between his role as a father and a husband. Returning cast members also include <keyword id="13060" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Priyamani">Priyamani</keyword>, Sharad Kelkar, and Shreya Dhanwanthary. Created and directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, "The Family Man" started streaming on September 20, 2019 and opened to great reviews. "It's been a long wait! Thank you for your love and patience. Coming with a gift in the new year... Stay tuned," the creators wrote on social media. The first season also featured Neeraj Madhav, Pawan Chopra, Kishore Kumar and Gul Panag. Filming on the second season of "The Family Man", which marks digital debut of south star Samantha Akkineni, wrapped up in March this year.

The union territory went for polling during the last phase of elections in 2019 on April 19 and now awaits the results eagerly. Chandigarh presents a tough contesting scenario for the major political parties. The triangular contest in Chandigarh now sees the BJP and Congress candidates re-nominated following the 2014 elections. Hence the main contenders in the parliamentary elections 2019 are Kirron Kher (BJP), Pawan Kumar Bansal (Congress) and Harmohan Dhawan (AAP). The scene is a bit different as AAP has replaced Gul Panag with Harmohan Dhawan. Notably, he was a senior BJP leader who left the party and joined the AAP in November 2018. There is a strong possibility that Dhawan could cut a sizeable percentage of the Hindu votes as he had earlier supported Kirron Kher during the earlier Lok Sabha elections in the union territory of Chandigarh.

The scene is a bit different as AAP has replaced Gul Panag with Harmohan Dhawan. Notably, he was a senior BJP leader who left the party and joined the AAP in November 2018. There is a strong possibility that Dhawan could cut a sizeable percentage of the Hindu votes as he had earlier supported Kirron Kher during the earlier Lok Sabha elections in the union territory of Chandigarh.

Greater Noida, Feb 12 () India's flagship motor show Auto Expo came to a close on Wednesday after witnessing over 70 product launches and unveils, recording a total of 6.08 lakh visitors over eight days. This edition of the Auto Expo witnessed over 352 product displays from 108 exhibitors, including eight global premiers, over 70 launches and unveils, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said in a statement. Keeping in pace with the trend for eco-friendly vehicles, the expo also saw launch of 35 electric vehicles, while 15 concepts were showcased. New participants included Chinese players such as Great Wall Motors and Haima Automobile along with Olectra. The expo, however, missed the likes of Toyota, Honda, BMW, Audi and two-wheeler majors Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Co, which had stayed away from the show. The biennial motor show had kicked off on February 5 at India Expo Mart here under the shadow of coronavirus outbreak as officials of Chinese participants stayed away from pavilions, on a day when China's Great Wall Motor announced an investment of USD 1 billion to tap into the country's auto market. Reflecting on the experience of the latest edition of the expo, SIAM President Rajan Wadhera said, "Auto shows globally have evolved and transformed from being mere static displays to providing a unique and enriching experience for every segment of the society at large. The majority will be decided by which party manages to go further, beyond the 40% vote share mark. BJP’s celebrity-turned-politician candidate, Kirron Kher, is pitted against Congress’ Pawan Kumar Bansal and Harmohan Dhawan, the candidate from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Kher is currently leading the vote share but margin is growing thinner, currently recording a margin of 3,756. But Kher argues that she’s done more in her five years of power than Bansal in his 15 years as a Member of Parliament. By her own admission, the ‘Modi wave’ will be one of the primary factors that will help her sail through to a win in the city. Dhawan called out Kher for being a ‘parachute dropped’ candidate who only showed during the election and was found to be absent during much of her tenure. During the last Lok Sabha Election in 2014, Kher scraped past Bansal to secure the win by a record margin of 69,642 votes and the popularity of AAP’s Gul Panag cut the votes that would have gone to Congress. AAP’s popularity petering out in the union territory could push those votes back to Congress, especially since a lot of the AAP candidates that people voted for in 2014 are now members of Congress.
