The members of <keyword id="22212826" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="womens-self-help-groups" source="keywords">women's self-help groups</keyword> (SHGs) will get the best possible training so that they can operate the drones effectively for different purposes such as <keyword id="22212827" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="spraying-fertilisers" source="keywords">spraying fertilisers</keyword> and pesticides in fruit and flower gardens. Speaking to after the inauguration of the new Agriculture Development Research and Training Centre at Killa under the Gomati district of Tripura, Nath said, "The central government has launched the scheme called drone Didi which is especially for women. Soon after the scheme was launched, a state committee was constituted. As per the recommendations of the committee, drones will be sent to the agriculture sub-divisions." According to Nath, the appointment of trainers has already been done who will impart training to the SHG members. "The trainers are already recruited. We hope within the next two months drones will reach each of the 47 agri-subdivisions," he added. The Minister also announced that a special scheme has been undertaken to appoint "Krishi Sakhis (Friends of Farmers)" who provide agriculture-related solutions to the farmers in the rural areas. "One sakhi (friend) will be appointed for one rural local body such as Gram panchayats and Village Committees. We have forwarded the proposal to the central government. If we get the approval, the process of appointing Sakhis will be started immediately." On the agricultural infrastructure he inaugurated, Nath said, "We are setting up new infrastructure in all agri subdivisions. This is a new training center set up for the farmers of the area. All the officials, trainers, and experts will come here and speak to the farmers. Arrangements have also been made for video conferencing." The letter cited the government's GR on serving rice pudding to children four times a week under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman Yojana (formerly known as midday meal scheme). "The GR mentions that 25 grams of sugar be added to the meals of students from Class I to V and 45 grams for students from Class VI to VIII," the letter said. "We need 25 grams of sugar per day. There are two types of sugar. One is added and the other is naturally present in food items. The students keep eating other food items throughout the day, which increases their sugar intake," Maha Paediatrics Association president Dr Ramgopal Chejara told PTI. "Adding 25 grams and 45 grams of sugar in these meals could make the children diabetic and obese. Our teams have visited schools. We have appealed to the government to stop giving such sugary food items," he said. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve too criticised the state government over this GR. The state government thinks the future generation is a factory to digest excess sugar, he said in a post on X. The Union government is imposing restrictions on ethanol production, while at the same time excess sugar is being given to schoolchildren, said Danve, who is Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council. Although it did not divulge the size of the deal, market watchers say that at BT's valuation of roughly USD 15 billion dollars, the deal could be in the ballpark of USD 4 billion. The shares will be purchased through Bharti Televentures UK, which is wholly-owned by Bharti Global. Bharti Televentures UK has inked an agreement with Altice UK to acquire about 9.99 per cent stake of BT Group's issued capital imminently with the rest about 14.51 per cent of BT's share capital is to be acquired post regulatory clearances. Telecom billionaire Patrick Drahi's Altice UK, the largest shareholder in BT, has been struggling with high debt. "Bharti Global, the international investment arm of Bharti Enterprises, a leading Indian business group with world-class companies in telecoms, digital infrastructure and space communications, has reached an agreement to acquire an interest in 24.5 per cent of the issued share capital of BT Group plc from Altice UK," Bharti said in a release. Bharti hopes the investment will further help create new synergies in the telecom sector between India and UK in the areas of AI and <keyword id="19916120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="5G" source="keywords">5G</keyword> R&amp;D and core engineering among others, "offering great potential to collaborate on industry best practices and emerging technologies". It is pertinent to mention here that Bharti and BT have a relationship going back more than two decades. In 1997, BT acquired a 21 per cent stake in Bharti Airtel, and hence Bharti's latest move to acquire a 24.5 per cent chunk in the iconic British company marks a defining moment for the Indian telecom conglomerate. Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises said: "Bharti and British Telecom (BT) have an enduring relationship going back more than two decades wherein BT owned 21 per cent stake along with two board seats in Bharti Airtel Limited from 1997-2001. Today marks a significant milestone in Bharti Group's history as we invest in BT - an iconic British company". Bharti's investment in BT aims to support the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards his vision in elevating and broadening the India-UK ties, the release said. It noted that during the recently concluded visit of UK Foreign Secretary, David Lammy to India, the UK-India Technology Security Initiative was announced to expand collaboration in critical and emerging technologies across priority sectors including telecom. Sunil Mittal said: "This investment in BT aims to support the commitment of our Prime Minister towards his vision in elevating and broadening the India-UK ties. Bharti's own record of owning and operating telecom and broadband networks around the world is underpinned by placing customers, digital innovation and operational efficiency at the heart of its business". Shravin Bharti Mittal, Managing Director of Bharti Global said: "We review global investment opportunities in the world of technology from digital infrastructure to software. BT is well known to us from the long association with Bharti, so we are pleased to have this opportunity to acquire a significant stake in the company." Bharti believes that BT is poised for leadership in the telecom arena, especially home broadband services, he added. Meanwhile, BT Group, in a separate statement said the investment from Bharti is a strong vote of confidence in the future of the British telecom carrier and its strategy. Bharti to acquire about 24.5% stake in BT Group from Altice UK; deal estimated at $4 bn

A PTI report says that this decision will be made after seeking legal advice, as stated by government adviser Mohammad Ali Shabbir. The assurance came after a delegation from the Telangana Sikh Society, led by former IPS officer Tejdeep Kaur Menon, met with Shabbir at the Secretariat in Hyderabad. The 18-member group expressed their deep concerns about the film, fearing that it portrays the Sikh community in a negative light. According to Shabbir, the delegation claimed that "Emergency" portrays Sikhs as terrorists and anti-nationals—a depiction they find offensive and damaging to the community’s image. They urged the state government to ban the film's screening in Telangana. Following the meeting, Shabbir relayed the group's concerns to Chief Minister Reddy, who promised that the government would make a decision on the matter after consulting with legal experts. Earlier this week, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) had issued a legal notice to Ranaut and the film's producers, demanding the removal of the film's trailer, which had been released earlier this month. SGPC Secretary Partap Singh had voiced strong objections to the film, revealing that the committee had also sent letters to the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting and the Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to request a ban on Emergency. Singh had also accused Ranaut of hurting Sikh sentiments, claiming that several "anti-Sikh scenes" had come to light since the trailer's release. The controversy gained further momentum last week when both the GDPC and the Akal Takht called for an immediate ban on the film. They alleged that Emergency attempts to "character assassinate" Sikhs by creating a negative narrative against them. SGPC Chief Harjinder Singh Dhami held a press conference, demanding that an FIR be filed against Ranaut and expressing his strong objections to the film. Dhami had said that this was not the first time Sikh sentiments have been hurt by misrepresentation in films. He also criticised the CBFC as being "biased" and urged for the inclusion of Sikh members on the censor board to ensure fair representation. Ranaut, who announced the film in 2021, had earlier clarified that although the film is a political drama, it is not a biopic of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Besides playing the lead role, Ranaut is also directing the film. The cast includes prominent actors like Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, and <keyword id="20045058" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shreyas-talpade" source="keywords">Shreyas Talpade</keyword>, with Talpade portraying Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan.
