As per an invite shared with the media, <keyword id="4224527" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="hyeprloop">Hyeprloop</keyword> One will hold a press conference this Tuesday in Delhi, where the Railways Minister <keyword id="6356597" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Suresh-Prabhu">Suresh Prabhu</keyword> and NITI Ayog CEO <keyword id="6358887" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amitabh-Kant">Amitabh Kant</keyword> will be present.<br />
<br /> On the other hand, <keyword id="4224526" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="hyeprloop-transportation-technologies">Hyeprloop Transportation Technologies</keyword> (HTT) is in talks with at least five state governments to build a high-speed travel network. It is also raising $100 million to invest in India.<br />
<br /> The concept of high-speed travel in tubes has been around for decades. But <keyword id="6355315" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Elon-Musk">Elon Musk</keyword> incorporated reduced-pressure tubes in which pressurized capsules ride on an air cushion driven by linear induction motors and air compressors and made this a reality. This mode of passenger and freight transportation would propel a pod-like vehicle through a near-vacuum tube at more than airline speed. The alpha version of the proposal, published on the <keyword id="6360701" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SpaceX">SpaceX</keyword> website, describes claims of the design of the system, as well as its function.<br />

While the concept is called Hyperloop, a superfast way to travel at a nominal cost, there are a few companies that are building it into a reality.<br />
<br /> "We have five offers on the table from five chief ministers. We spoke to them and the one that will give us the land we will go and build. We have local partners and we are now raising USD 100 million and bringing another investment from abroad," Hyeprloop Transportation Technologies chairman <keyword id="3925574" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bibop-Gresta">Bibop Gresta</keyword> told news agency PTI.<br />
<br /> <keyword id="3928014" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="gresta">Gresta</keyword> further said that he had met the Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> and also the Chief Ministers of various states including <keyword id="37102" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh">Andhra Pradesh</keyword> and <keyword id="6360371" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jharkhand">Jharkhand</keyword> and expressed his interest in starting the project. If the government helps Gresta is selecting lands and sorting other red tapes, Hyperloop may start operating in India within 3 years from now.<br />
<br /> While Hyperloop One has convinced the railway minister to attend its India event, Hyperloop Transportation Technologies claims to be in touch with the Transport Minister for the centre <keyword id="26680" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nitin-gadkari">Nitin Gadkari</keyword>.<br />

<strong>Cost</strong><br />
Building Hyperloop network is expensive but not as much as Bullet Trains. Each kilometre of Hyeprloop costs nearly about $20 million. In its first leg, HTT wants to start with 5-6 km initially.<br />

Even though the pods travel at a speed higher than passenger planes, the ticket fares are expected to be equal to first class trains or less.<br />

The efficiency of this transportation system can be estimated by the time it would take to cover the distance between Mumbai and Pune, which is less than 40 minutes.<br />

"India has a great opportunity to leapfrog to better modes of transportation," Gresta told ET.<br />

He believes that India should not invest in bullet trains, but in "the future," since bullet trains are noisy, polluting and would prove to be a liability for future generations.<br />
<br />
To procure funds worth $120 million for investment in India, HTT will be doing road shows starting next month. HTT’s manpower in India is 20-people strong, who work at home 10 hours a week in exchange for stock options. They get one stock option for every hour of work done.<br />

In recent months, Gresta has met <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/too-realistic-nitin-gadkari-wants-to-bring-davos-to-uttarakhand/articleshow/57250266.cms">Nitin Gadkari</a>, the minister for Road Transport, Highways And Shipping, along with CMs of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Maharahstra.<br />

Developing Hyperloop would cost $20-40 million per kilometre. "In India it could be cheaper. Hyperloop cost is comparable with traditional rail but is cheaper than high speed rail (like bullet train)," said Gresta.<br />

<br /> Elon Musk-backed <keyword id="2914023" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hyperloop-Transportation-Technologies">Hyperloop Transportation Technologies</keyword> (HTT) Co-Founder Bibop G <keyword id="3928014" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="gresta">Gresta</keyword> today said the company is ready to build <keyword id="6396317" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hyperloop">Hyperloop</keyword> between Mumbai and Pune, but the decision is left with Union Transport Minister <keyword id="26680" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nitin-gadkari">Nitin Gadkari</keyword> to go ahead with the project and can be built in 38 months.<br />

The company is also working with 25 Indians, including two Indian companies, to build the transportation system, which involves shooting tubes in a vacuum chamber across vast distances-Hyperloop.<br />
<br />
"There are two Indian companies working with us. One is a maker of the tubes, another is an engineering company. I can't name them right now though. But in total we have about 25 people from India working on the Hyperloop,” Gresta told ET.<br />

According to Gresta, India planning on spending thousands of crores to build bullet trains to boost the country's transportation infrastructure is a bad idea.<br />

"You are going to spend $12 billion on a bullet train? Put $1 billion in hyperloop and you will never need a bullet train, he told ET.<br />
<br />
He also said that India needs hyperloop because of the bad conditions transportation.<br />
<br />
"I think India is a perfect country to implement this project because the roads are not that good. Here the transportation is not capable to sustain a growth in a country like India," he said.<br />

"They just talk. In LA right now we have NASA, Jet Propulsion Lab, Tesla, SpaceX. If you want to do something in innovation you should be in LA."</p><p>The exec - who has IPO'd three companies in as many countries - joined the jet-tube transport company about 18 months ago, in a bid to turn Elon Musk's futuristic transport concept into a reality. </p><p>The Hyperloop concept involves firing a train full of people through a low-pressure tube at speeds of up to 740 mph. It has been described by Musk as a mix between Concorde, a rail gun, and an air hockey table.</p><p>Musk said it could be used to transport people from San Francisco to LA in under half an hour.</p><p>A five-mile <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/what-the-hyperloop-may-look-like-in-quay-valley-2015-8" target="_blank">prototype of Hyperloop</a> is due to be demonstrated in California's Quay Valley within the next three years. It has been described by Musk as a mix between Concorde, a rail gun, and an air hockey table. It could take you from Los Angeles to San Francisco in under 30 minutes. </p><p>Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, the company taking the lead on turning Hyperloop into a reality, <a href="http://www.cnbc.com/2016/01/21/you-could-travel-on-hyperloop-by-2018-builds-track.html" target="_blank">told CNBC that</a> it has filed for a construction permit to build a five mile track in Quay Valley, California. </p><p>"We are announcing the filing of the first building permit to Kings County to the building of the first full-scale hyperloop, not a test track," Bibop Gresta, the COO of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, said during an interview at Davos on Thursday.</p><p>Construction is set to begin in the second quarter of 2016 and Hyperloop could open in 2018 to the public.</p><p>"In 36 months we will have the first passenger in the first full-scale hyperloop," said Gresta.</p><p>The company is reportedly looking at where it will place its pylons and carrying out a number of soil tests.</p><p>Gresta told Business Insider last October that if the California prototype is successful, larger versions of Hyperloop could be built across the world. Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Botswana, and India are all in contention. <p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Reuters</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>The company developing Elon Musk's 700mph maglev train has announced new details about the levitation system it plans to use.</p><p>Hyperloop Transportation Technologies said on Monday that it will use a passive magnetic levitation system developed by Lawrence Livermore National Labs in the US.</p><p>The Los Angeles-headquartered transportation company wants to build a system that involves firing a pod full of people through a low-pressure tube at speeds of up to 760 mph. It has been described by inventor Musk as a mix between Concorde, a rail gun, and an air hockey table that could take you from Los Angeles to San Francisco in under 30 minutes.</p><p>Hyperloop Technologies said that magnetic fields in the tunnel will lift the pod before a "thrust force" is applied, accelerating the pod to speeds just shy of the speed of sound (767 mph).</p><p>The same thrust force is simply reversed to decelerate the pod. As the pod slows down, the system's battery is recharged through what Hyperloop describes as regenerative breaking.</p><p>"Utilising a passive levitation system will eliminate the need for power stations along the Hyperloop track, which makes this system the most suitable for the application and will keep construction costs low," said Bibop Gresta, COO of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, in a statement.
