"I am going to handover a letter to the Finance Minister this evening stating that an additional 10% GST be put on diesel-powered vehicles," Gadkari said. In the passenger vehicle segment, various carmakers including Maruti Suzuki India and Honda have already stopped manufacturing diesel cars. Gadkari said the contribution of diesel cars has already come down drastically in the country and the manufacturers need to stop selling them in the market. Terming diesel as a hazardous fuel, he noted that the country has to import the fuel to meet the demand. "Say goodbye to diesel... Please stop making them, otherwise we will just increase the tax so much that it would become difficult to sell diesel cars" Gadkari said. He said he will propose additional GST on diesel-powered generators as well. Automobiles are currently taxed at 28% GST, with additional cess ranging from 1% to 22% depending on the type of vehicle. SUVs attract the highest GST at the rate of 28% along with a compensation cess at 22%. Gadkari also asked the industry to focus on environment-friendly alternative fuels like ethanol. Auto stocks recover after Gadkari clarifies his '10% additional GST on diesel vehicles' comment

Cybercriminals are trying to lure Indian users into revealing important personal information with a new report on Monday warning that suspicious messages asking users to submit an application for the disbursement of income tax refund have been doing the rounds, with a link that directs users to a webpage looking like the income tax e-filing web page. The targeted banks in the campaign include the <keyword id="6354731" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="state-bank-of-india">State Bank of India</keyword>, ICICI, HDFC, <keyword id="6355975" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="axis-bank">Axis Bank</keyword> and <keyword id="62034" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Punjab-National-Bank">Punjab National Bank</keyword>, revealed an investigation by New Delhi-based think tank CyberPeace Foundation along with cybersecurity services firmAutobot Infosec. The suspicious links originate from the US and France, said the report, adding that the campaign is collecting personal as well as banking information from the user and getting into this type of trap could cause a massive financial loss for the users. The shared link with the SMS has no domain name and is not linked with the Indian government. All IP addresses associated with the campaign belong to some third party dedicated cloud hosting providers, said the report. The whole campaign uses plain http protocol instead of the secure https. This means anyone on the network or internet can intercept the traffic and get the confidential information in plain text to misuse against the victim. It asks users to download an application from a third party source instead of Google Playstore. The application asks to provide administrator rights and unnecessary access permissions of the device. On opening the link http://204.44.124[.]160/ITR, users are redirected to a landing page that is mostly similar to the government income tax e-filing website. On clicking the green 'Proceed to the verification steps' button, users are asked to submit personal information such as full name, PAN, Aadhar number, address, pincode, date of birth, mobile number, email address, gender, marital status and banking information like account number, IFSC code, card number, expiry date, CVV/CVC and card PIN. Additionally, the bank name is automatically detected from the IFSC code entered in the form. After submission of data, users are redirected to a page where they are asked to confirm the entered data. Clicking on the green 'confirm' button directs users to a fake banking login page almost similar to the official one. It asks for the username and password for online banking. After these details are entered, for the next step, users are asked to enter a Hint question, Answer, Profile password and CIF number. Once submitted, a mobile verification section with instructions provided to download an android application (.apk file) appears, to complete the ITR verification. Here, users are deliberately instructed to grant all device permissions to the particular application, the investigation revealed. The application, called Certificate.apk, starts downloading upon clicking the green 'Download' link. The overall layout and functionalities of the web page used in the campaign are similar to the official e-filing site to lure laymen, said the report. New Delhi, The <keyword id="6357801" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="union">Union</keyword> <keyword id="26362" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Government">government</keyword>'s fiscal deficit soared to ₹10.75 lakh crore, or 135.1% of the 2020-21 Budget Estimates (BE), at the end of November 2020, mainly on account of low realisation of revenue due to disruption in business activities amid the coronavirus pandemic. The fiscal deficit at the end of November 2019 had stood at 114.8% of 2019-20 BE. In absolute terms, the fiscal deficit stood at ₹10,75,507 crore at the end of November 2020, according to the latest data released by the <keyword id="513373" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Controller-General-of-Accounts">Controller General of Accounts</keyword> (CGA). The lockdown imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus had significantly impacted business activities and, in turn, contributed to sluggish revenue realisation. The fiscal defict, or gap between the expenditure and revenue, had breached the annual target in July this year. The government's total receipts stood at ₹8,30,851 crore (37% of BE 2020-21) till the end of November 2020. This included ₹6,88,430 crore tax revenue (net to centre), ₹1,24,280 crore of non-tax revenue and Rs 18,141 crore of non-debt capital receipts. Non-debt capital receipts consist of recovery of loans and disinvestment proceeds. The tax revenue collection was 42.1% of BE of 2020-21, compared with 45.5% of BE (2019-20) during the corresponding period a year ago. Non-tax revenue was 32.3% of BE. During the corresponding period of the last fiscal, it was 74.3% of BE 2019-20. During the corresponding period last fiscal, the total receipts were 48.6% of 2019-20 BE. According to the data, over ₹3.34 lakh crore were transferred to state governments as devolution of share of taxes by the <keyword id="6377129" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="government-of-india">Government of India</keyword> up to November 2020. The CGA data said the total expenditure incurred by the government stood at ₹19,06,358 crore or 63% of BE. Of the total expenditure, ₹16,65,200 crore was on revenue account and ₹2,41,158 crore on capital account. It further said that out of the total revenue expenditure, over ₹3.83 lakh crore was on account of interest payments and ₹2,02,119 crore towards major subsidies. For this financial year, the government had pegged the fiscal deficit at ₹7.96 lakh crore or 3.5% of the GDP in the <keyword id="6360189" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="union-budget">Union Budget</keyword>, which was presented by <keyword id="25455" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="finance">Finance</keyword> Minister <keyword id="129243" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nirmala-Sitharaman">Nirmala Sitharaman</keyword> in February 2020. These figures, however, may have to be revised significantly in view of the economic disruptions created by the coronavirus pandemic. Economy not in trouble; green shoots visible:FMNew Delhi, Feb 11 () Finance Minister NirmalaSitharaman on Tuesday said the economy is not in trouble andgreen shoots are visible with the country moving towards a USD5 trillion economy.Listing initiatives taken by the government, she said,increasing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), rise in factoryoutput and over Rs 1 lakh crore GST collection in the pastthree months are indications of green shoots in the economy."There are seven important indicators which show thatthere are green shoots in the economy...economy is not introuble," she said while replying to a debate on the UnionBudget in Lok Sabha. Referring to visible indicators of green shoots, theFinance Minister said the forex reserve is at an all time highand the stock market is upbeat."Global sentiment is in favour of India. New Delhi, Mar 25 () State-owned REC on Wednesday said its board has approved a proposal to revise upward its borrowing for the current financial year to Rs 94,000 crore from the Rs 90,000 crore estimated earlier. Besides, the board has also approved a Rs 1.10-lakh crore market borrowing borrowing by the company during the next financial year 2020-21. The board in its meeting on Wednesday approved upward revision in the market borrowing programme for financial year 2019-20 from Rs 90,000 crore to Rs 94,000 crore, a rise of Rs 4,000 crore in raising funds through domestic bonds, debentures, rupee term-loan, and ECBs among others, to be raised during the balance period of 2019-20, according to a regulatory filing. The funds under the market borrowing programme will be raised during the next financial year, with the approval of the competent authority. The board also approved the launch of Capital Gains Tax Exemption Bonds (Series XIV) under Section 54EC of the Income Tax Act, 1961, for raising funds on a private placement basis for an amount of Rs 2,500 crore with a green shoe option to retain over subscription. The said bonds are in the nature of secured debentures of a face value of Rs 10,000 each. The issue will open on April 1, 2020, and close on March 31, 2021. However, it said the company would have a right to pre-close the issue or extend the same at any time. KKS HRS

Dr Lal PathLabs Dr Lal PathLabs clarified that the data breach of its patients occurred after a misconfiguration in one of its minor web applications where temporary records were stored for operational purposes, and took place at a facility managed by a third party. “It involved less than 0.5% of our records and has been successfully resolved since,” the company said. The shares of Dr Lal PathLabs closed 5% lower on Friday. RITES The engineering consultancy company, RITES has secured ₹103 crore order from project management consultancies for the construction of various buildings at IIT Delhi and for study of Multi Modal Integration Planning for Surat Metro, among others. The shares of RITES closed 0.22% higher on Friday. Premier Explosives The explosives manufacturing company, Premier Explosives said it has bagged ₹82.83 crore order from a state-run Singareni Collieries Company in Telangana for the supply of SMS/SME explosives and accessories. The shares of Premier Explosives closed 5% higher on Friday. Karnataka Bank The state-owned Karnataka Bank on Friday declared its exposure of ₹107.99 crore to Sintex Industries (SIL) as fraud. The shares of Karnataka Bank closed 2.4% higher on Friday. Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders and UTI AMC The shares of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders and UTI AMC will list on the bourses today at 10:00 am.
