While most experts have recommended subscribing to Hyundai Motor India's issue from a long-term viewpoint, short-term investors are likely to stay more cautious. This is because at a PE (price-to-earnings) valuation of 26x its potential FY25 earnings, Hyundai's PE is higher than even the industry's PE average, which currently stands at 24.41 times. Moreover, the PE of the Indian subsidiary of the South Korean automobile giant is higher than even that of its parent company, which is at 5x. That, combined with weak auto sales projected for the upcoming quarter, i.e., October to December 2024, may take away some sheen from the debut of the stock of the second-largest automobile seller in the country. Per experts at research advisory firm Master Capital Services Ltd, "Hyundai Motor India is the second-largest automobile manufacturer in India, holding a 15% market share. Despite some concerns regarding short-term listing gains due to subdued grey market premium, the company offers steady growth prospects amid industry tailwinds, robust financials and healthy SUV product demand. Hyundai’s leadership in India's passenger vehicle market, along with its strategic focus on electric vehicles, makes a compelling investment for long-term investors."

However, if you live near the coast — or anywhere prone to flooding — there’s a less-talked-about risk that could make you rethink that shiny new electric car parked in your driveway: saltwater-induced fires from flooded EV batteries. <h2>Saltwater and EV batteries</h2>When it comes to EVs, the heart of the vehicle’s power lies in its battery, usually a lithium-ion (Li-ion) pack. These batteries are highly efficient, but they’re also sensitive to water, especially the salty kind. In September and October 2024, the Southeast U.S. was hit by hurricanes Helene and Milton, which caused catastrophic flooding. Thousands of homes were damaged, and in a particularly frightening twist, 11 electric cars and 48 lithium-ion batteries caught fire after being exposed to salty floodwaters. Saltwater is a conductor of electricity, which means it can get into the EV battery packs, triggering a dangerous reaction. When water seeps into the battery, it can cause a short-circuit between the battery's terminals, which may lead to overheating, violent fires, and even explosions. Buying an EV may be a somewhat dangerous move if you live near the sea

Benchmark indices <keyword id="6354813" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nifty" source="Orion">Nifty</keyword> and Sensex recovered from their losses last week to close in greens on Monday. While Sensex inched up over 690 points to close at 79,476.63 points, Nifty closed the day over the 24k mark, at 24,213.30, up by 217 points. During the day, Sensex had soared 740.89 points, or 0.94%, to touch 79,523.13 points. From the 30-share Sensex pack, JSW Steel surged nearly 5% while Tata Steel jumped nearly 4%. Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and UltraTech Cement were also among the big gainers. On the other hand, Tech Mahindra, Lupin, Britannia, and Infosys were among the major laggards on Sensex. On Nifty, where 39 stocks advanced during the day and the remaining 11 saw declines, Tata Steel, Hindalco, and JSW Steel were among the top gainers. Adani Ports, ITC, Bharti Airtel, and Asian Paints were among the leading laggards. In Asian markets, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong settled in the positive territory, while Seoul ended lower. Yesterday, the BSE benchmark tumbled 941.88 points, or 1.18%, to settle at 78,782.24, the lowest closing level since August 6. The Nifty had also tanked 309 points, or 1.27%, to close at 23,995.35. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) continued with their hefty exodus, offloading equities worth Rs 4,329.79 crore today, according to exchange data. So far in November, DIIs (domestic institutional investors) have put in Rs 2,558.75 crore in Indian markets. Global oil benchmark Brent crude climbed 0.60% to $75.53 a barrel today. <h2>Banks, metals lead the party</h2> Aditya Gaggar, Director of Progressive Shares, explains that while bears dominated the first half of trading session by dragging the index lower; it was the banking counters that led to a sharp up move and pushed the index higher from its previous session's low. The Metal stocks also joined the party and pushed the index further higher to end the session at 24,213.30 with gains of 217.95 points. Mid and smallcaps also advanced but underperformed the frontline index", he added. Today's rally was largely led by banking scrips. The BSE Bankex jumped a staggering 1,218.58 points during the day. On NSE, both banks and financial services indices inched up by 1.94% and 1.98% respectively during the day. While PSU bank counters were up by 1.84%, private banks surged ahead with a 1.94% growth during the day. Metals were amidst the highest gainers, rising 2.84% during the day. All broad market indices closed the day in green, except for India VIX, which tumbled 4.08%.

The Day-Ahead Market (DAM) witnessed robust growth, with volumes increasing 33% YoY to 4,610 MU in September 2024. Over the quarter, DAM registered 14,332 MU, a 27% increase compared to Q2FY24. Real-Time <keyword id="22699214" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="electricity-market" source="keywords">Electricity Market</keyword> (RTM) achieved its highest-ever monthly volume of 3,913 MU, a 34% YoY rise. Indian Energy Exchange records 24% growth in September 2024

On the flip side, below 24,800/81,200 we could see further weakness till 24,700/81,000. If the markets are really strong then we can see a strong reversal after hitting the levels of 24,700/81,000. In case the market sustains below 24,700 then we could see the level of 24,500 in the near term", he continued.

Following the sharp sell-off last Monday, prices have been oscillating within a defined range, lacking momentum in either direction. "The broader market remains under pressure, reflecting a <keyword id="22803025" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bearish-tone" source="keywords">bearish tone</keyword>, with only selective stocks performing well. Traders are advised to avoid complacent bets and be selective in stock choices. Additionally, it’s important to monitor global developments and focus on the mentioned levels, ideally trading in the direction of the breakout rather than wavering between trends", he continued. Mr. Aditya Gaggar, director of Progressive Shares, highlights that regarding sectors, the IT space has given a breakout, suggesting a continuation of an <keyword id="20817516" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="uptrend" source="keywords">uptrend</keyword> (HCL Tech and Tech Mahindra). Conversely, the <keyword id="20458349" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="metal-sector" source="keywords">metal sector</keyword> has given a breakdown from its long-term trendline support, indicating an extension of the corrective moves. As indicated earlier, the <keyword id="22767421" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pharma-segment" source="keywords">pharma segment</keyword> has developed a bearish divergence defining a short-term trend reversal but such a correction will be short-lived considering its strong uptrend Says Shrikant Chouhan, Head Equity Research, Kotak Securities, "Day traders should focus on key levels at 24,200/79,100, which if surpassed could lead to a quick retracement to 24,300-24,400/79,400-79,700. Conversely, intense selling pressure could be seen below the 50-day SMA at 24,050/78,800 or 24,000/78,500, potentially leading the market towards 23800/77900. Real strength may emerge if indices manage to close above the level of 24,500/80,000, pulling the market up to 24,900/81,200. Our advice is to reduce weak long positions until the market trades below 24,500 levels."

<ul><li>Indian stock indices opened green on Wednesday, following favourable assembly election results for the ruling party.</li><li>The <keyword id="19896381" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nifty" source="keywords">Nifty</keyword> 50 index opened at 25,065.80 points, while the <keyword id="19896382" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sensex" source="keywords">Sensex</keyword> index opened at 81,954.58 points.</li><li>The Reserve Bank of India is expected to announce its decision on policy rates.</li></ul>On Wednesday, the <keyword id="19932512" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-stock-market" source="keywords">Indian stock market</keyword> exhibited a positive atmosphere at the opening bell, reflecting positive investor sentiment driven by the favourable outcome of the recent elections for the incumbent party. The Nifty 50 index commenced the trading day at 25,065.80 points, registering a gain of 52.65 points, equivalent to a 0.21% increase. Similarly, the Sensex index opened at 81,954.58 points, representing a jump of 319.77 points or 0.39%. Market analysts anticipate a pivotal announcement from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regarding interest rates later in the day. However, the consensus among experts suggests that the rates are likely to remain unchanged. The RBI has maintained a steady <keyword id="20094323" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="repo-rate" source="keywords">repo rate</keyword> of 6.50% for the past nine meetings, balancing its objectives of curbing inflation while fostering economic growth. "After sessions of corrections, India is getting some support at the level of 25,800 for Nifty50. Good state election results for the ruling party, contrary to the exit polls, have brought some optimism in the domestic market. RBI policy outcome, though no cut is expected, a plausible change in stance to neutral is anticipated. And investors are likely to focus on the upcoming Q2 results where earnings are likely to improve marginally on a QoQ basis" said Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Financial Services. Among sectoral indices on the National Stock Exchange, the Nifty PSU Bank index opened as the top gainer, with other indices also opening in the green. In the Nifty 50 list, 38 stocks opened with gains, 11 stocks declined, and 1 remained unchanged. "Nifty made a bounce back from expected support of 24750 and closed just above the 25,000 mark. With FIIs longs dropping further to 43%, Nifty may face resistance around the 25,100/25,150 range and any possibility of short covering can be expected above this range. Any break of crucial support of 24750 can witness another round of selling towards the 24,500/24,300 range" said Soni Patnaik, AVP, Derivatives Research Analyst, JM Financial Services. Meanwhile, other Asian markets showed mixed trends on Wednesday. Japan's Nikkei 225 was up 0.83%, while the Shanghai Composite fell sharply by 5.61%. Out of the 2,835 stocks traded during the day, 1,499 saw advances while 1,254 stocks saw declines. 20 stocks hit their 52-week high, while 20 stocks also hit their 52-week low price. 115 stocks hit the upper circuit during the day, while 92 stocks hit the lower circuit as well. <keyword id="19958660" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shrikant-chouhan" source="keywords">Shrikant Chouhan</keyword>, Head Equity Research, Kotak Securities notes that the benchmark indices continued positive momentum, the nifty ends 85 points higher while the Sensex was up by 145 points. Among Sectors, <keyword id="20072633" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="PSU-banks" source="keywords">PSU Banks</keyword> index outperformed rallied over 3% whereas selective IT stocks witnessed intraday profit booking at higher levels. "Technically, after a gap up opening, market held the positive momentum throughout the day. Breakout continuation formation on intraday charts indicating further uptrend from the current levels.For the trend following traders now, 24,500/80,500 would be the key support level. Above the same, the market could continue uptrend momentum till 24,650-24,700/81,000-81,200. On the flip side, below 24,500/80,500 uptrend would be vulnerable", he continued. Aditya Gaggar, director of Progressive Shares, defines the day's trade as lackluster. "Barring IT, all other sectors ended the day in green with PSU bank being the top gainer followed by media. Mid and small caps advanced over 0.50% and outperformed the frontline index. The downside seems to be protected at 24,400 while on the higher side level of 24,740 will serve as an immediate hurdle", he notes.
