As of 9:30 am, Nifty was down by 0.05% trading at 24,420.30 points, while Sensex was down by 0.15% and was trading at 80,254.37 points as of 9:30 am. All broad market indices opened the day in the green, except for Nifty 50, 100, 200, 500, and midcap and smallcap 50 opened in red. India VIX was up by 1.17%. Amidst sectoral indices, Bank, auto, metal, financial services, PSU, and <keyword id="61519" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Private-banks" source="Orion">private banks</keyword> opened the day in the red. Grasim, Divis Labs, Eicher Motors, and Britannia were the top gainers in early trade this morning. On the other hand, Mahindra and Mahindra, JSW Steel, Axis Bank, Dr. Reddy, and Kotak Bank were among the leading laggards. As Mr. Aditya Gaggar, Director of Progressive Shares, notes, "A strong rally in the auto counters helped the index end on trade at another record level of 24,433 yesterday. The index has breached its previous high convincingly by forming a big green candle and opening the door for further rallying towards the 24,520–24,600 zone. At the same time, 24,340 will be considered strong immediate support. BankNifty oscillates in a well-maintained range of 52,260–52,720; a breakout on either side is a must (mostly on the higher side, considering the strong uptrend). The auto segment ended its consolidation of over 2 weeks with a strong breakout indicating the resumption of its uptrend". Shrikant Chouhan, Head of Equity Research, Kotak Securities noted that among sectors, the auto index gained over 2% while intraday profit booking was witnessed in select IT, oil, and gas stocks. "Currently, 24,300/80,000 would act as a key support zone for trend-following traders. We believe, that as long as the market is trading above it, the bullish sentiment will likely continue. However, this does not stand true in some cases. The Zomato IPO, for instance, saw institutional investors oversubscribing the issue by over 52 times. The shares of Zomato have gained over 6% since the listing. While one has to wait and watch if the stock lives up to the expectations, there are many other examples that show that the excitement of institutional investors does not assure good returns for retail investors who buy and hold shares. It was the top IPO by subscription in 2020. Meanwhile, Laxmi Organics has gained 59% since its listing on March 25, 2021. Dr Reddy's Laboratories trade 2% higher Dr Reddy's stocks gained for the second day in a row after Russia's sovereign wealth fund said that it would supply 100 million doses of the Sputnik-V COVID-19 vaccine to Dr Reddy's Laboratories after it receives regulatory approval in India. HSIL shares rally 8% The shares of Hindustan Sanitaryware &amp; Industries Limited (HSIL) were trading 8%. The company’s board is slated to meet on September 21 to consider the proposal of buyback of the fully paid-up equity shares. Tata Power shares up 2% The shares of Tata Power gained 2% after it submitted bids for three discoms in Odisha that were looking for privatisation. The bids were called earlier this year for Western, Southern, and Northern Electricity Supply Companies, namely <a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/tata-power-india-power-corporation-submit-bids-for-three-discoms-in-odisha-120091602154_1.html">WESCO, SOUTHCO and NESCO</a>. Dhanuka Agritech shares jump 6% The shares of Dhanuka Agritech were up 6% after the company board approved buyback of up to 10 lakh equity shares at a price of ₹1,000 apiece for an aggregate amount not exceeding ₹100 crore. Top stock movers — HCL Tech, Dr Reddy’s, HSIL, Tata Power, Dhanuka Agritech, Grasim and more

New Delhi, March 16 (IANS) India's key equity indices -- <keyword id="6484188" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sensex" source="Orion">Sensex</keyword> and <keyword id="6354813" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="nifty" source="Orion">Nifty</keyword> -- traded in the green in the opening session on Wednesday. At 9.54 a.m., Sensex was 1.4 per cent or 777 points up at 56,554 points, whereas Nifty 1.3 per cent or 220 points up at 16,883 points. Among the specific stocks, <keyword id="46717" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="indusind-bank" source="Orion">Indusind Bank</keyword>, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, Grasim Industries and <keyword id="85462" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bajaj-finserv" source="Orion">Bajaj Finserv</keyword> were the top five gainers among the Nifty 50 companies, rising 3.7 per cent, 3.5 per cent, 3.0 per cent, 2.8 per cent, and 2.7 per cent, respectively. Sensex, Nifty up over 1% each; IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, Grasim Industries and Bajaj Finserv top gainers among Nifty 50 stocks

New Delhi, Nov 14 () Aditya Birla Group's flagship firm Grasim Industries on Thursday posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,472.77 crore for the July-September period helped by good performance of its subsidiaries UltraTech Cement and Aditya Birla Capital.
 Grasim Industries had reported a net loss of Rs 1,319.79 crore in the September quarter a year ago, Grasim Industries said in a BSE filing.
Its revenue from operation was at Rs 18,430.27 crore, up 3 per cent, during the quarter under review as against Rs 17,892.42 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
"Consolidated EBITDA at Rs 3,180 crore recorded a growth of 7 per cent Y-o-Y and PAT (before exceptional items and one-time deferred tax benefit) was up by 6 per cent Y-o-Y to Rs 639 crore driven by superior performance of the company's subsidiaries, UltraTech Cement Limited and Aditya Birla Capital Limited.
Grasim Industries' total expenses were at Rs 17,069.81 crore during the period as against Rs 16,541.52 crore, up 3.19 per cent.
Its revenue from Viscose segment was at Rs 2,431.42 crore, down 6.67 per cent, to Rs 2,605.36 crore of Q2/FY 2018-19.
"The weakness in the domestic VSF realisations impacted this quarter's profitability. The benefit of falling input costs like pulp prices will get reflected in the coming quarters due to inventory time lag," said Grasim Industries.
While, its cement business UltraTech' revenue was at Rs 9,620.47 crore, up 4.01 per cent, as against Rs 9,249.26 crore.
"UltraTech completed the acquisition of Century Textiles and Industries cement business... With this acquisition, UltraTech's cement manufacturing capacity stands augmented to 117.4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), including its overseas capacity. This makes UltraTech the 3rd largest cement company in the world, outside of China," the company said.
Revenue from Chemicals during the quarter was at Rs 1,347.30 crore, down 16.44 per cent, as against Rs 1,612.38 crore.
"Softening of Caustic Soda prices globally has led to decline in the domestic prices, resulting in lower profitability on YoY basis," said Grasim.
While its Financial Services segment revenue reported a 12.72 per cent increase at Rs 3,960.86 crore during the period from Rs 3,513.59 crore a year ago.
Revenue from others segment was at Rs 1,305.60 crore, up 13.32 per cent, as against Rs 1,152.10 crore.
On the outlook, Grasim said its VSF business will continue to focus on expanding the market in India and its chemical business is under an expansion mode for both chlor-alkali and specialty chemicals. 
On UltraTech, it said: "The company with its presence across the country is the best positioned to take advantage of the revival in cement demand, despite the anomalies that may get created in demand patterns in some parts of the country due to extraneous reasons."
"Grasim is incurring capex to increase capacities across its key business lines and is potentially well positioned to leverage the next phase of the economic growth," the company said.
 Shares of Grasim Industries Ltd on Thursday settled at Rs 734.30 apiece on the BSE, down 0.64 per cent from the previous close. KRH MKJ
