In a circular dated January 8, the board's secretary, Geraldina L Mendes, has said all the exams for Classes 9 and 11 shall be finished by April 24, 2021, to enable schools to provide infrastructure and manpower for the conduct of the board exams, which are going to start from April 26. Schools for Classes 10 and 12 in Goa reopened in November last year, after being shut for nearly eight months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while classes for all other standards are currently being conducted online. "In view of the prevailing pandemic situation and availability of limited number of instructional and working days, the schools are hereby requested to conduct examination, that is theory and pratical for Classes ninth and eleventh for the academic year 2020-21 by calling students to the schools," the circular reads. The board has given liberty to the schools to conduct the exams as per their convenience. "Those schools which have already conducted the first mid-term and first term exams need not conduct it again," the circular reads. The schools are also given liberty to set the papers of the first and second terms will full weightage or with 50% weightage, and then convert it into full weightage. The circular has said schools can set their own papers as per the coverage of the portion. The state board has already announced that 30% of the syllabus would be reduced for the current academic year. Till Saturday, Goa reported a total of 51,790 cases of coronavirus and 746 deaths due to the infection, as per official figures. Examinations for classes 9&11 to be conducted by April 24, says Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education

And despite the education, only 23.3% of the female were a part of labour workforce in 2017-2018, according to National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) Many other countries including Finland have a separate unit that is responsible for promoting gender equality. The same idea was suggested earlier this year by NITI Aayog in its Strategy for New India @ 75’ document, however the progress was halted because of the general election that were due to take place in April- May. The new government is now planning to re-look at all the pending proposals, especially those focusing on women. The unit, once developed, will gather data and conduct regular reviews from other ministries and define gender targets to be achieved in that state. Reportedly, some of the targets may include reducing anaemia rate in adolescent girls and mortality rate in pregnant women. Since women are dealing with multiple issues, the key parameter that will help assess the status of women in different states can include, sex ratio, number girls completing secondary school, maternal mortality rate, crime against women and labour participation rate.

Over 65 lakh students did not pass <keyword id="19951608" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="class-10" source="keywords">class 10</keyword> and 12 <keyword id="19954615" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="board-exams" source="keywords">board exams</keyword> across the country last year with the failure rate being higher in <keyword id="22866974" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="state-boards" source="keywords">state boards</keyword> than the central board, according to Ministry of Education (<keyword id="20349630" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="MoE" source="keywords">MoE</keyword>) officials. An analysis of class 10 and 12 results of 59 school boards, including 56 state boards and three national boards, revealed that more girls appeared in class 12 exam from government-managed schools but it is opposite in private schools and government-aided schools. "Around 33.5 lakh students of class 10 are not reaching next grade. While 5.5 lakh candidates did not appear, 28 lakh failed. This is one of the cause for low retention rate and Gross Enrolment Ration (GER) at higher secondary level," a senior MoE official said. Similarly, around 32.4 lakh class 12 students did not complete the grade. While 5.2 lakh did not appear, 27.2 lakh failed. In class 10, the student failure rate in central board stood at 6 per cent while that of state boards was much higher at 16 per cent. In class 12, the failure rate at central board is 12 per cent while that of state boards is 18 per cent. The ministry officials noted that the open school performance was poor in both the classes. The highest number of student failure in class 10 was in Madhya Pradesh board followed by Bihar and UP. While in class 12, the highest student failure was reported from Uttar Pradesh followed by Madhya Pradesh. "Overall performance of students in 2023 declined in comparison with previous year. This could be due to larger syllabus for examination," the official said. More girls appeared for class 10 and 12 board exams from government schools than boys. "This may reflect gender bias while spending on education by parents. However, girls dominates in pass performance across government, aided and private schools," the official said. Assam is looking to test teachers for COVID-19 as they return back to work on September 1

Maharashtra to conduct class X, XII exams from April 23 and April 29

Board exam schedule for classes 10, 12 announced in Madhya Pradesh

The much awaited Tamil Nadu SSLC or Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Class 10) results is to be announced today (April 29, 2019). Official confirmation regarding the time of results has not yet been known. However, as per the general practice noted over the past years, we might expect the results to be out by 9.30 am. The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) with its headquarters in Egmore, Chennai conducts two examinations in the school level namely SSLC ) Secondary School Leaving Certificate) and HSC (Higher Secondary School Certificate) for class 10 students and class 12 students respectively. Most of the schools are not continuing post-lunch session as the possibility of Children interacting with each other is high during the lunch break. Krishnan Adityan, a Class X student of K.A. Ekambaranathar Public School, Kilpauk Chennai told IANS, "The experience is awesome. I was missing my friends and teachers alike. School feel is something different than the online classes. Looking forward to spending the day and the coming days in school with friends and teachers." Tamil Nadu school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi told media persons at Chennai on Wednesday that the schools can function till 3.30 p.m. However, he said that the government would not make it strict for the classes to function till 3.30 p.m. He said that 95 per cent of teachers and non-teaching staff in the state have received at least one dose of vaccine. He said, "All the schools have been directed to maintain strict Standard Covid Protocol and there will not be any compromise on this. Tamil Nadu schools reopen for class 9 to 12 from today

Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh, has announced the results of Class 10th(SSC) today. The overall pass percentage this year stood at 94.88%. Girls have outperformed boys, again. The overall pass percentage among girls was recorded as 95.09% while for boys, the pass percentage stood at 94.68%. Last year, the pass percentage for boys stood at 84.41% whereas the pass percentage among girls was higher than that of boys at 94.56%. The number of students that passed the class 10th board exams have increased, compared to last year. In 2018, over 600,000 students appeared for the exam with an overall pass percentage of 94.48%. While the class 12th results were released earlier, with an overall pass percentage of 72%. Students can view their results on BSEAP official website bseap.org. The exams were held from 18 March to 2 April 2019. In 2018, the results were declared on 29 April. The scores will also be uploaded on the RTGS portal of Andhra Pradesh government. The secondary exams will continue till June 10, an official of the board said. "We have uploaded the details of the schedule for the 2021 Madhyamik (secondary) exams on our website. The examinations will be held with strict adherence to COVID protocols," he said. The exams for class 10 and 12 are usually held between February and March every year, but the 2021 tests have been deferred due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The state government had on Wednesday announced that the secondary and higher secondary (class 12) exams would be held one after another in June next year. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal '<keyword id="913696" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nishank">Nishank</keyword>' had earlier ruled out conducting board examinations for class 10 and 12 till February next year in view of the COVID- 19 situation. The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education has already announced the dates for the class 12 exams for 2021, but the authorities have been asked not to hold any test on June 30 on the occasion of 'Hul Diwas', state Education Minister Partha Chatterjee said on Saturday. This is a part of the audit multinational Ernst &amp; Young’s initiative to improve the quality and instruction of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), especially to girls.
