<ul><li>Women are the bedrock of society and with this International Women’s Day, brands have left no stone unturned to celebrate their dreams, ambitions, struggles and wins.</li><li>It gives us an opportunity to celebrate the social, economic, political, and cultural achievements of women and continue the push towards equality. </li><li>We cherry-picked a few campaigns that stood out this year. </li></ul>While every day should be celebrated as women’s day, 8th March brings an opportunity for us to stop, reflect on how far we have come and think about some of the many areas where advertising, marketing and the media industry needs to improve. It gives us a much-needed chance to pass on the mic, share our problems, look for solutions and celebrate women who have triumphed over patriarchy. Women's Day, however, has become a full-blown trend, packaged and brought to the audience for a labelled price. It is about gaining eye-balls, reminding women they exist by superficially caring about them, for a few days before and after March 8. Albeit, there were a few campaigns that did stand out this year and reminded us that we are slowly taking small steps towards inclusivity every year. Mobile applications, or as we call them apps, have made our lives a lot easier. With just one touch, we can call a cab, order food and even book flight tickets. 
 
The user experience is just getting better by the day as the upgrades and improvements in the apps make our daily activities easy. 
 
As the apps get upgraded and embed new features in them, they provide facilities a notch higher. 
 
Here are some apps that introduced new features recently and are definitely worth it.

The taxi-hailing app announced two new features-Uber Ride Request Widget and trip branding and personalization app. The ride request widget brings the entire Uber experience, from ride configuration and request all the way to drop-off, inside any partner app. It also allows users to request a ride or set a ride reminder through a partner app or site. 
 
The trip branding and personalization helps users with helpful content during their ride, right from the Uber app itself. 
 
<keyword id="984795" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="goibibo">Goibibo</keyword> 
 
The online travel aggregator, Goibibo.com, launched ‘Go-Time guarantee’ for refunds. Goibibo.com claims refund to be processed within two hours from the time the customer cancels his or her travel with the portal. 
 
The new feature transparently shares the exact time in minutes and seconds, taken to process the refund. In case of a failure to meet the 2 hour guarantee, the platform promises to credit Rs.100/- in the customer’s GoCash wallet for every hour of delay. 
 
<keyword id="819905" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Instagram">Instagram</keyword> 
 
The photo and video sharing platform rolled out 60-second videos for all users from 15 seconds. 
 
This 60-second limit is likely to benefit cross-platform campaigns. Now, content creators can think about Instagram first, which would let them have a greater social presence without sacrificing other platforms. 
 
Foodpanda 
 
India's online food ordering platform has launched the "Express Guarantee" service. It assures to deliver food within 45 minutes - or else free with a cap. 
 
The amount of money that will be refunded is capped at Rs 200, which accounts for over 50 per cent of the amount given if the bill is of Rs 300-450. In simple words, the maximum amount that Foodpanda will refund is Rs 200. Period!

 The internet giant introduced a quite nice improvement for its Android app. Now, you can edit your photos and keep the original too. <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> Photos will save all those edits within a single copy of the photo.

<ul><li>Online gaming has witnessed a surge during the lockdown, opening up doors for advertisers.</li><li>However, in-app advertising can be intrusive, leading to bad consumer experience. </li><li>Mobile gaming and e-sports start-up EWar Games has been innovating and coming up with non-intrusive ways of advertising on its platform. <keyword id="10022012" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Parth-Chadha">Parth Chadha</keyword>, Founder &amp; CEO, EWar Games tells us about the startup’s journey so far.</li></ul>The lockdown brought with it a lot of changes in consumer behavior. It also led to the speedy adoption of a lot of things. More people started spending time on the internet, OTT and audio streaming platforms witnessed an uptick. However, one industry that has witnessed massive growth is the online gaming segment. Be it fantasy sports that is finding millions of users, especially during the ongoing <keyword id="6354831" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-premier-league">Indian Premier League</keyword> as well as the English <keyword id="52458" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Premier-League">Premier League</keyword>, mobile gaming otherwise is witnessing a big jump too, in terms of new users playing, and the time being spent on these platforms. People who are now saving the time they would otherwise spend on travelling and that has given many the space to spend time on gaming. Meanwhile, advertisers have also realized the opportunity that online gaming throws to them. Taking cue from exactly this, mobile gaming and e-sports start-up EWar Games has come up with a really smart, unconventional and unobtrusive way of advertising. EWar is a platform that is used by all kind of gamers including casual and serious ones and its audience is not just limited to the bigger cities. It also provides features of streaming and is available in 8 languages to cater to the larger Bharat market. Why <keyword id="10022013" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="In-game-advertising">in-game advertising</keyword> works The startup recently partnered with smartphone brand <keyword id="6785002" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="poco">Poco</keyword>, introducing their new launch to gamers while playing Tappy birds in their week-long tournament called ‘Tappybird showdown’. The mobile phones were placed inside the game, wherein players had to collect the phone to earn extra cookie points. In-app advertising, while helping brands showcase their ads to players, and bringing in revenues for the platforms, hardly does anything to bring the consumer closer to the brand. “In-app ads are definitely a revenue source for gaming platforms, but we believe there are much better ways to advertise. We have recently started in-game environment advertising I.e. brand placements inside the game for a particular duration in the form of a tournament or any event. The benefits are multifold. Firstly, it has helped us giving our users a better experience. It has led to way more brand impressions when compared to conventional in-app ads and the user gets a motivation to play as the new interface is exciting and has additional prizes, not just cash but additional brand products/offers etc. All this gives much more engagement and good ROI for the brand,” Parth Chadha, Founder &amp; CEO, EWar Games tells us. These non-intrusive ads, considering they are a part of the gameplay, help in increasing impressions. Giving an example of their latest association with POCO, Chadha says, “For instance in POCO Tappybird Showdown, players had to score maximum to top the leaderboard and average games played per user were around 23. Also adding logic to it, like collect more POCO phones inside the game to win POCO M2 pro motivates the player. Our numbers prove that brand definitely gets a better ROI as compared to a conventional in-app ad.” Why brands are showing an interest Following the ROI that the POCO campaign got the brand, EWar has been able to excite brands from other categories too. “We have received great inbound interest from brands from different categories including edtech, healthy snacking etc. We are already closely working with brands and curating interesting concepts for future projects, says Chadha. He also adds that there has been interest from a mix of advertisers who want to promote their brand. “It is not only big brands that are exploring this option. We have also increasingly been seeing new brands wanting to leverage this concept to catch more eyeballs and have an edge over their competitors. Brands are themselves coming up with ideas and communicating it to us after seeing the offerings on EWar,” he says. EWar’s growth story so far Started in January this year, EWar Games has already witnessed good growth. While pre-Covid, the startup was witnessing good traffic from Tier II and Tier III cities, post-lockdown, it has seen a spike in its Tier I users, as gaming became the best recreational activity for people locked in their houses. Throwing light on the kind of growth they have seen, Chadha adds, “We have seen a 3x growth in our user base, taking our total user count to over 500,000 amid the COVID-19 lockdown. We have noted an over 40% increase with respect to the average time spent per day by users on the app, and 4x growth in the average number of games being played daily.” He further states that the number of serious gamers playing for money has also gone up significantly as ‘real money skill gaming is a great source of revenue during these tough times.’ Future plans Considering online gaming has been witnessing massive growth in usage and popularity, EWar has its growth strategy in place. “Vernacularity and being a one-stop solution for gamers has helped us acquire 30% of our users organically. We do have a strong marketing team taking intelligent decisions on the basis of data,” shares Chadha. On how they plan to achieve their next phase of growth, he adds, “We have always worked on the feedback loop. All decisions are based on a lot of data, analytics that we do internally and I think we will stick to this approach.”

 Hitting the nail before they turn a married couple, e-commerce giant Flipkart roped Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor for a national campaign. They play the role of a couple too where Alia is seen commenting on Ranbir’s clothing style. Alia who is high on successes like Raazi and Gully Boy makes more from brand endorsements, as compared to Ranbir who had a spate of flops before the release of Sanju this year. The 26-year-old actor, Alia Bhatt has collaborated with some of the best brands in India and is the first celeb to promote Uber Eats, Nokia and Make My Trip. She reportedly <a href="https://www.marketingmind.in/reasons-why-alia-bhatt-has-become-popular-in-brand-endorsements/">has a brand value </a> of $98,10,700. Ranbir Kapoor reported has a brand value of ₹1.39 billion, according to Duff and Phelps' Celebrity Brand Valuation Report 2018. He charges between ₹30-40 million to ₹40 million per advertisement. Ranveer Singh earned ₹626 millions alone in 2017 from brand endorsement, said Forbes list of 100 celebrities for 2017. Deepika Padukone is the top earner in brand endorsements amongst actresses. She promotes 18 brands and earns ₹750 million. With 2.1 billion monthly active users globally, Facebook currently has 212 million monthly active users on smartphones in the country. "With over 217 million monthly active users in India -- most of whom are active on mobile -- Facebook is at the heart of a mobile-first shopping journey. We want to help all marketers and businesses drive revenue growth by tapping into the shift in consumer behavior towards mobile, and help them adopt practices to drive both penetration and loyalty," informed Sandeep Bhushan, Director, India and South Asia. Some of the top strategies focused on growth marketing includes acquiring customers and generating intent, creativity and measuring what matters. "Facebook's people-based measurement solutions can help measure what's working across channels to enable optimised spending to those attributing to the best results," the company said. According to Siddharth Banerjee, EVP-Brand Communications and Insights, Vodafone, partnering with Facebook on the launch campaign for Vodafone Supernet 4G helped them cut build awareness with the right audience. "With the target audience leaning towards digital, Facebook delivered some of the highest impact across all media vehicles on driving salience and key brand messages," Banerjee said. Facebook-owned WhatsApp has over 200 million monthly active users in India.
