Allocated by Telangana's Department of Agriculture and Cooperation (Horticulture and Sericulture), the allotted area will be utilized by the company to expand the cultivation of oil palm and set up processing units. Recently, Godrej Agrovet inaugurated an edible oil refinery at Chintalapudi in the Eluru district "We are delighted to receive additional district in the fresh allotment released by the Government of Telangana. It is a testimony of GAVL's commitment and efforts to boost oil palm plantations and promote farmer prosperity in the region. We would like to thank Government of Telangana for their support and commitment to this initiative which will benefit the farmers," said Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director, Godrej Agrovet. The company has an expertise of more than three decades in the oil palm business. The Telangana government has set a target to extend the cultivation of oil palm across 20 lakh acres in the state. A total of ₹1,000 crore is proposed in the Budget for 2023-24 for oil palm cultivation. India is the world's second-largest consumer and number one <keyword id="451493" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vegetable-oil" source="Orion">vegetable oil</keyword> importer, and it meets 60% of its need through imports. A large part of it is palm oil and its derivatives, which are imported from Indonesia and Malaysia. Although oilseed production in India has grown over the years, the production has lagged behind its consumption, resulting in continuous dependence on imports.

Telangana govt allots Godrej Agrovet 47,000 acres for oil palm plantation

New Delhi, Feb 5 () Godrej Agrovet Ltd on Wednesday posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 51.15 crore for the third quarter ended December 2019. The company had clocked a net profit of Rs 48.56 crore in the year-ago period, according to the BSE filing. Its net income in the third quarter of 2019-20 stood at Rs 1,791.99 crore. It was Rs 1,458.96 crore in the year-ago quarter. Expenses stood at Rs 1,729.90 crore in the October-December 2019 period, against Rs 1,389.34 crore in the year-ago period. In its foot note in the BSE filing, Godrej Agrovet made it clear that the third quarter performance of this financial year cannot be compared with the year-ago period as it also includes the result of recently-acquired two companies which became subsidiaries effective from March 2019. The company has acquired Godrej Tyson Foods Ltd and Godrej Maxximilk Private Ltd. Godrej Agrovet's shares fell 0.09 per cent to settle at Rs 578.80 apiece on the BSE on Wednesday. LUX HRS

Godrej Agrovet posts Rs 51 cr net profit in Q3

New Delhi, Feb 14 () V-Sciences Investment, an investment arm of Temasek, on Friday offloaded nearly 38 lakh shares of Godrej Agrovet for a little over Rs 204 crore through open market transactions. According to bulk deal data available with the BSE, a total of 37,84,738 shares of Godrej Agrovet, agri-business firm of Godrej Industries, were sold by V-Sciences Investment Pte Ltd. The shares were offloaded on an average price of Rs 539.13, valuing the transaction at Rs 204.04 crore, the data added. Meanwhile, Godrej Industries picked up 32,20,000 shares of the agri-business company. At the end of the December 2019 quarter, V-Sciences Investment held 2,47,07,698 shares, amounting to 12.87 per cent stake, of Godrej Agrovet. Shares of Godrej Agrovet closed at Rs 520.30 apiece on the BSE, down 6.45 per cent from the previous close. SP HRS

Temasek investment arm sells Godrej Agrovet shares worth Rs 204 cr

New Delhi, Feb 13 () Godrej Industries Ltd on Thursday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 216.32 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 2019. The company, which announced reappointment of Nadir Godrej as its managing director for a period of three years, had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 156.42 crore in the year-ago quarter. Revenue from operations during the third quarter this fiscal stood at Rs 2,696.31 crore. It was Rs 2,417.58 crore in the same period a year ago. The company said during the previous year, one of its subsidiaries had acquired control of Godrej Tyson Foods Ltd and Godrej Maxximilk Pvt Ltd and they became subsidiaries with effect from March 27, 2019. Accordingly consolidated financial results of the current quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2019 include results of these acquired firms. Hence, the consolidated financial results of the current quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2019 are not comparable with the financial results of the corresponding previous periods, the company said. On Godrej's reappointment, the company said the Nomination and Remuneration Committee of the Board of Directors had recommended the proposal. The board approved the re-appointment of managing director of the company for a further period of three years commencing from April 1, 2020 upto March 31, 2023 subject to approval of the shareholders. Godrej Indistries also said its board has approved investment of up to Rs 5OO crore by way of subscription or purchase of securities or otherwise in Godrej Agrovet Ltd, its subsidiary company subject to shareholder approval. New Delhi, Feb 27 () Chicken sales in India have come down over 50 per cent and prices by 70 per cent in the last one month as speculation swirled on social media that chicken causes coronavirus disease, denting both demand and prices, a top Godrej Agrovet official said on Thursday. Godrej Agrovet Managing Director B S Yadav said its poultry arm Godrej Tyson Foods has also taken a beating as sales have dropped sharply by 40 per cent in last one month from 6,00,000 birds a week, he said. However, once the rumours die down and consumption rises in the next 2-3 months, there would be a shortage of chicken in the country causing sharp rise in prices, he noted. Yadav also mentioned that the government has issued advisories that coronavirus does not spread from chicken and asked state governments to take action against rumour mongers. "Chicken is safe in India but rumours on spread of coronavirus from chicken has dented demand sharply in our country by over 50 per cent in just one month and ex-farm gate prices have also fallen by 70 per cent," Yadav told reporters. Chicken sales have come down to 35 million birds a week from 75 birds a week across the country, while ex-farm gate prices have dropped over 70 per cent to Rs 35 per kg from Rs 100 per kg in last one month although the cost of production is about Rs 75 per kg, he said. "The entire poultry industry and farmers have been affected because of WhatsApp rumour about coronavirus spread from chicken. The surplus production has build up now which is being disposed at a lesser price," Yadav said. Godrej Tyson Foods sells both fresh and frozen chicken and value-added products in the brand name 'Real Good Chicken' and 'Yummiez'. The company has two chicken units in the country. The company is the largest chicken producer in the country followed by Venky's and Suguna Foods. Yadav also said per capital consumption of chicken in India is at 4.5 kg, lower than the global average of 11 kg. The consumption is highest in Tamil Nadu at 13 kg, while least in states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Besides poultry, the stock exchange listed company Godrej Agrovet is into animal feed, crop protection, oil palm, dairy, and processed foods businesses. LUX LUX ANUANU

BPCL Privatisation-bound Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) board has approved buying out Oman Oil Company’s stake in the Bina refinery project in Madhya Pradesh on mutually agreeable terms.
