When asked on X if he is planning an email service, the billionaire said the service is coming soon. <keyword id="20700389" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nate-mcgrady" source="keywords">Nate McGrady</keyword>, a member of X's Engineering and Security team, had asked when XMail would be launched. "Coming," replied Musk, setting the tech industry on fire as Google faced rumoured plans to sunset Gmail via a manipulated image that began circulating on social media platforms. A follower replied: "Lost trust in Gmail. Time to make the switch to Xmail asap!" Another commented that "I will use my Gmail as how I use my Hotmail now, for junks". Earlier in the day, an image floated around on X that appears to show an email from Google about it "sunsetting" Gmail in August 2024. The email turned out to be fake and "Gmail is here to stay," said Google. The company is shutting down the basic HTML view this year and the users will be switched to the service's "Standard" view. The telecom operator in a letter to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has sought strict action against the two companies and said that such acts of the rival companies could jeopardise safety and security of Jio’s employees. The shares of RIL, Airtel and Vodafone-idea closed nearly 1% lower on Monday. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) IT services major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said it had expanded its strategic partnership with Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline alliance with 26 members including Air India, Air Canada and Air China. TCS’ partnership with Star Alliance spans over 15 years and multiple geographies. Under the expanded scope of the partnership, TCS will provide predictive and real-time business analytics, improve customers’ overall experience and accelerate Star Alliance’s digital transformation journey, the company said in a statement. The shares of TCS closed 0.47% higher on Monday. Tata Steel Tata Steel has acquired 4.32% additional equity in Tata Steel Minerals Canada, taking its overall indirect shareholding to 82% in the company. The shares of Tata Steel closed 1% higher on Monday. Computer Age Management Services (CAMS) Computer Age Management Services (CAMS) has incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary named CAMS Payment Services. It will be making an application to the RBI for registration as a payment aggregator. The shares of CAMS closed 0.46% higher on Monday. Bank of Maharashtra The State-run Bank of Maharashtra has raised over ₹200 crore through a private placement of bonds. The fundraising is part of the lender’s ₹1,000 crore tier-II bond programme. With stand up comedians, politicians, actors and notable personalities voicing out their support for <keyword id="6391709" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Net-neutrality">net neutrality</keyword>, thus ensuring Internet remain free and democratic all across the Web, the issue of net neutrality is yet to rest in peace. 
 An Indian telecom operator’s introduction of <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> Zero last to last week added more fuel to the fire. While eCommerce giant <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> has publicly declared its backing out from Airtel Zero, the market watchers believe the game isn’t over. In an alarming news report by the Economic Times, it is known, the very strength of Internet—it's a vast global network—also makes it uniquely vulnerable to access manipulation. This vulnerability is greater because mobile phones have displaced personal computers as the main Internet access point for consumers. 
Telecom companies can easily create access barriers, keep competition out, give unfair advantage to established Internet businesses and harm both innovation and consumer welfare. Technology entrepreneurs ET spoke to were unanimous in their view that keeping Internet free was crucial for both consumers and business. 
 
Sunal Jain, founder and CEO of @MobiNxt, an app developer told the financial daily, "Without net neutrality, startups will fail...consumers won't be ready to pay for a new, innovative product." Jain's point was that a startup's initial investments were already formidable—in servers, government fees, HR—and an Internet that raised entry barrier by making them pay to, say, telecom companies would be a big blow for India's newest entrepreneurial force. Experts agree. Prasanth Sugathan, Counsel at Software Freedom Law Center, told ET that Digital India, a big government plan, will not take off without net neutrality that promises a level playing field. The ET elaborates, Google search and Google's email service, <keyword id="51500" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Gmail">Gmail</keyword>, wouldn't today be the consumer-friendly, super-efficient global winners had Internet run on the idea that first movers will enjoy special access. Google's search service was preceded by <keyword id="6363100" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Yahoo">Yahoo</keyword>'s and products like Ask Jeeves and Alta Vista. Gmail was launched after Microsoft's Hotmail had become dominant. 
 And thanks to net neutrality, even Google lost its Orkut, which was in play long before <keyword id="6354630" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Mark-Zuckerberg">Mark Zuckerberg</keyword> dreamed up a social network in a university dorm, was beaten by Facebook, which also outsmarted <keyword id="27899" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="MySpace">MySpace</keyword>, even though the latter was backed by <keyword id="57162" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Rupert-Murdoch">Rupert Murdoch</keyword>. Microsoft had tried an early form of net non-neutrality by proposing a separate space on Internet called Mozaic. Mozilla was the response, a browser that worked on open source. Mozilla, incidentally, was the short and spice up form of the phrase 'Mozaic Killer', according to the Economic Times. 
 
Indiatimes.com (a venture from BCCL, which owns this newspaper) was an early mover in the eCommerce game. But because net is neutral, a startup like Flipkart could emerge as the winner and today, Flipkart has to keep in mind where the next eCommerce winner will come from.

The issue did not receive any bids from qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) with tepid response from non-institutional investors. The company has fixed the price band at ₹366 to ₹385 per equity share for its maiden public offer which closes on Friday, September 22. Investors can bid for a minimum of 38 equity shares and in multiples of 38 equity shares thereafter. As of March 31, 2023, it had sold 27,965 residential and commercial units, all within the Delhi-NCR region, with an aggregate saleable area of 18.90 million square feet. The company's sales (net of cancellation) have grown at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 42.46 per cent, from 1,690.27 crore in fiscal 2021, to 3,430 crore in fiscal 2023. As of March 31, 2023, it had sold 25,089 residential units with an average selling price of 36 lakh per unit. ICICI Securities Ltd, Axis Capital Ltd and Kotak Mahindra Capital Company Ltd are the book-running lead managers to the issue. The equity shares of the company will be listed on the BSE and NSE. The company’s spokesperson confirmed the development, highlighting that Google Russia does not have enough assets to pay suppliers, vendors and employers. “Russian authorities' seizure of Google Russia's bank account has made it untenable for our Russia office to function, including employing and paying Russia-based employees, paying suppliers and vendors, and meeting other financial obligations,” the spokesperson, Julie Tarallo McAlister, said in a press statement. Google Russia is said to have employed over <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2022/5/18/23124143/google-russian-branch-bankruptcy-ukraine#:~:text=The%20Russian%20branch%20reported%20making,and%20employed%20over%20100%20workers.">100 employees</a>. With this, Google Russia has <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/google-subsidiary-in-russia-to-file-for-bankruptcy-11652876597">also moved</a> most of its employees out of the country. Despite the insolvency petition, services like Search, Maps, YouTube and Gmail would continue to be operational in the Asian country. There would be no changes to Google’s Android operating system or Play store app either, the company has confirmed. The development comes as Russia is fighting a war with Ukraine over geopolitical issues. Google had been facing a lot of pressure from the Russian government after it failed to delete content, which Russia deemed illegal. The company was also facing criticism for restricting access to some Russian media on YouTube. The country’s government had also imposed a fine of $113 million, or 7.2 billion ruble, on Google in December 2021 for not resolving the raised concerns. However, the Russian government has confirmed that it has no intention to not ban Google despite the issue. Interestingly, Google Russia has earned a revenue of RUB (rubles) 134.3 billions or $210 million 2022 , Interfax news agency's Spark database of Russian companies showed. It accounts for 1% of Alphabet Inc’s revenue.
