The <keyword id="6355302" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rupee" source="Orion">rupee</keyword> appreciated 18 paise to 81.08 against the US dollar in early trade on Friday supported by a weak dollar in the overseas market.<br /><br />Forex traders said weak domestic equities and foreign fund outflows weighed on the local unit and restricted the appreciation bias.<br /><br />At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 81.11 against the dollar, then gained further ground to touch 81.08, registering a rise of 18 paise over its previous close.<br /><br />On Thursday, the rupee appreciated by 4 paise to close at 81.26 against the US dollar.<br /><br />Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.01 per cent to 104.71.<br /><br />Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, advanced 0.22 per cent to USD 87.07 per barrel.<br /><br />In the domestic equity market, the 30-share BSE Sensex was trading 259.39 points or 0.41 per cent lower at 63,024.80. The broader NSE Nifty fell 71.60 points or 0.38 per cent to 18,740.90.<br /><br /><keyword id="6438315" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-institutional-investors" source="Orion">Foreign Institutional Investors</keyword> (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Thursday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 1,565.93 crore, according to exchange data.<br /><br />Meanwhile, the collections from Goods and Services Tax (GST) grew by 11 per cent to about Rs 1.46 lakh crore in November.<br /><br />This is the ninth month in a row that the revenues have remained above the Rs 1.4 lakh crore mark. Rupee gains 18 paise to 81.08 against US dollar

<ul><li><keyword id="11111226" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="pb-fintech">PB Fintech</keyword> has also converted itself to a public limited company ahead of the IPO process.</li><li>The company received stakeholders’ approval to go public in an EGM held on July 5, 2021.</li><li>The company is reportedly seeking a valuation of $3.5 billion with this public issue. </li></ul><br />Online insurance marketplace <keyword id="696009" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Policybazaar">PolicyBazaar</keyword>’s parent company PB Fintech has converted itself to a public limited entity and is planning to raise ₹6,500 crore (around $871 million) via an initial public offering (IPO), the company’s regulatory filings have revealed.<br /><br />PB Fintech has also received approval for IPO at the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on July 5. The latest details about PolicyBazaar’s ₹6,500 crore IPO was first <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/ipo/policybazaar-parent-firm-pb-fintech-aims-to-raise-rs-6500-crore-via-ipo-7199181.html">reported </a>by CNBC TV18.<br /><br />PB Fintech (formerly known as EtechAces Marketing and Consulting) was founded by Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi and Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad alumni Yashish Dahiya, Alok Bansal and Avaneesh Nirjar in 2008.<br /> <br />PolicyBazaar, an online platform for users to purchase <keyword id="35504" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="insurance-policies">insurance policies</keyword>, is one of the subsidiaries of PB Fintech.<br /><br />Other subsidiaries of PB Fintech include online lending platform PaisaBazaar (launched in 2014) and healthtech venture <a href="https://inc42.com/buzz/policybazaar-looks-to-tap-softbanks-portfolio-companies-for-docprime/">DocPrime</a> (launched in 2018), which lets visitors book consultations with doctors or schedule a range of medical tests. <br /><br />Notably, PolicyBazaar is the only entity that is going public from PB Fintech’s banner. <br /> <br />PolicyBazaar has raised around $766 million to date. It was reportedly valued at $2.4 billion in March this year, after it raised <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/funding/policybazaar-rejigs-cap-table-with-a-45-mn-round-at-2-4-bn-valuation/articleshow/81301551.cms">$45 million</a> through a secondary share sale from private equity (PE) firm True North and a few other individual investors. <br /><br />The company’s investors include <keyword id="260318" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tiger-Global-Management">Tiger Global Management</keyword>, <keyword id="163404" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Softbank">SoftBank</keyword>, <keyword id="11685950" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="tencent-wellington-management">Tencent, Wellington Management</keyword>, <keyword id="1430452" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="PremjiInvest">PremjiInvest</keyword> and Falcon Edge Capital, among others. <br /><br />According to a <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-04-07/softbank-backed-policybazaar-said-to-plan-ipo-filing-next-month">Bloomberg</a> report published in April 2021 citing anonymous sources, PolicyBazaar was planning to go public before the end of this year. Meanwhile, several reports suggest that PolicyBazaar could be valued at more than $3.5 billion in its IPO.<br /><br />In February this year, it was reported that PolicyBazaar was<a href="https://inc42.com/buzz/policybazaar-close-to-finalising-bankers-for-ipo-at-3-5-bn-valuation/"> finalising bankers</a> for its over $540 million IPO to be listed in India. Thrasio has acquired more than 100 third party sellers or fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) businesses and is valued at $6 billion.<br /><br />Indian players like 10Club, Mensa Brands (founded by Myntra's former CEO Ananth Narayanan) and GlobalBees (founded by FirstCry founder Supam Maheshwari and Edelweiss' former executive Nitin Agarwal) have garnered the interest of investors. Notably, Mensa Brands is the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/startups/news/former-myntra-ceo-started-mensa-brand-in-may-and-its-already-worth-a-billion-dollars-with/amp_articleshow/87735832.cms">youngest Indian startup</a> to be valued over a billion dollars and 10Club raised the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/startups/news/bhavna-suresh-has-closed-indias-largest-seed-round-for-her-nine-month-old-startup-10club/amp_articleshow/83978841.cms">largest seed round</a> in Asia, last year. <br /><br />Even Thrasio is not willing to let go off this opportunity. The company will be looking to invest <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/ecommerce/news/amazon-aggregator-thrasio-will-invest-half-a-billion-dollars-in-buying-indian-brands/amp_articleshow/88894791.cms">half a billion dollars</a> in the Indian market over the next few years. <br /><br />The combined revenue of all D2C retailers in India was $3 billion in 2020, and is likely to be $35 billion by 2025, according to a recent report by O3 Capital.
