It's been a cult favorite for years, because once it dries, you see all of these little black dots around your face, which are apparently your unclogged pores. Or are they? It's described as, "A clarifying mask with six exfoliating acids and activated charcoal to instantly and visibly clear pores and improve the complexion of normal, combination, and acne-prone skin."Every single time I do this, I get scared. And every single time I am... I'm rightfully, rightfully scared, so. Hm. Oh, my God, what is that? You wanna watch a scary movie this year for Halloween? Here you go. It says to smear a thin layer on the face. So, I don't think tingling is the right word, but I also don't think burning is the right word, but it's definitely more burning than it is tingling. It's not bad, but it's not, like, amazing feeling. It's already starting to dry in some areas. There's no specific time limit, like, "Set your timer for 15 minutes" or something like that. It literally just says, "Wait until it's completely dry." June, come here. Look at her. Famous. Famous.Roommate: OK. [laughs]Celia: I think we are about as dry as we're gonna get. It's been about 25 minutes. I definitely have a lot of black dots. I have less than I expected on my cheek areas and more than I expected on my chin and my forehead. I feel like I actually have a lot there. Obviously I thought the nose was gonna be a gold mine, which it pretty much is. Oh, that really looks like a pore. These all look sort of like individual pores. It says just to wash it off with warm water, so let's head to the bathroom. My face is a little bit red, but it said that that might happen. To go over the results and see if this mask is actually doing what it says it's doing, I'm going to speak to dermatologist Dr. Shah to go over the microscope footage.Muneeb Shah: It's been around for a while, right? Like, people have been using it, kinda loving it for a long time. So it's one of those things where I think people either love it or hate it. The reason why is 'cause it has really effective ingredients, but they're really strong and irritating ingredients. So I think a lot of people will get irritated from it, especially if you have sensitive skin. So, it's got this cocktail of exfoliating acids, like glycolic acid, I think it has lactic acid in it. Yeah, lactic acid, salicylic acid, mandelic acid. So, these are all amazing ingredients, but if you have sensitive skin, they're gonna be really strong, especially if you're using all of them together. But some people can tolerate it and they do really, really well with it.Celia: You see all these little black dots show up all over your face. And I was always under the impression, like, "Oh, those are all my clogged pores coming out." And I feel like that's a really big pull to the product. Are those black dots actually your unclogged pores?Shah: Probably not. It's probably somehow the material getting clumped up in it. You probably don't have that much stuff in your pores to start off with. And a lot of these things that have an immediate effect like that are just, like, the material clumping. But, you know, it has the clay in it that helps to kind of lift up impurities, or the activated charcoal that helps to lift up impurities. You can kind of see that yellow area there, pretty much, you know, oil, sebum that has built up in your pores over here. And sometimes those become oxidized, and they'll be like <keyword id="90595" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Blackheads">blackheads</keyword>. Let's see the after. So, you can still see those things in the after, right? Celia: Mm-hmm.Shah: You see kind of all that sebaceous stuff in there. And you probably saw a lot of that stuff get lifted up. Is that right? Or what you thought, was it being lifted up?Celia: It was, like, all over my nose, and then a lot on my forehead and my chin.Shah: Always be skeptical of things that have that sort of effect. But I think that a lot of the ingredients in this are gonna be effective at minimizing the appearance of your pores. And so having that almost immediate appearance of an effect, where you see, like, "Oh, look, my pores look like they got cleared out by this thing," I think that encourages you to use it long term. And this is something that could potentially have a benefit long term. If you use this over probably three, four, five months, you probably would notice that those sebaceous plugs that you have here would minimize. But this is not gonna be after, like, one use type of thing. [laughing]Roommate: Would you want me to hold her in the frame for you? Oh, God.Celia: She's trying to eat the mask.

The fake book title used the n-word to refer to Snuffy, saying the character "done got the 'rona at a Chingy concert." The <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CaQ4SVkppLA/">post</a> no longer appears on Demsey's Instagram.Demsey has been at Estée Lauder for over 30 years. A top beauty executive has been suspended after posting a Sesame Street meme on Instagram that included a racial slur and a joke about COVID-19

<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image">GlamglowShannon and Glenn Dellimore</div></div></div>When the first Apple computer went on sale in 1976, it retailed for $666.66.On Thursday, one of the early Apple-1 computers sold for $815,000 at auction <a href="https://apple1.charitybuzz.com/">through Charitybuzz</a>.But it's not just any Apple-1, which are rare enough on their own. It's a one-of-a-kind "unicorn," Glenn Dellimore, the winner of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-1-computer-auction-price-250000-2016-8">the rare computer</a>, tells Business Insider. Glenn and Shannon Dellimore, founders of Glamglow, now <a href="http://www.wsj.com/articles/estee-lauders-growing-beauty-empire-1423753606">an Estée Lauder brand</a>, bought the computer because, in their eyes, it's akin to a Monet or a Picasso. "Talking to historians and museums and auction houses, this particular Apple-1 in 10 to 15 years, could be worth as much as a Monet or Picasso," Dellimore said. As Glenn Dellimore tells it, he almost didn't end up winning the rare computer, because as the auction was ending, he was in the air - and there was another bidder with deep pockets who wanted the computer."When the auction was taking place, I realized we'd actually be in the air when it ended. Just as our wheels touched down, there were 30 seconds left in the auction and I was actually outbidded with 37 seconds left," Dellimore said. "I think the bid was $270,000 when I looked, and then it went up again, and I kept going bidding with someone else until it was $515,000. I said, 'you know what, I'm just going to put in a large number.'"He said he might have bidded up to $2 million if he had been outbid again. "Typically with things that are so valuable and so rare, there will be buyers in the world that are willing to pay whatever it takes," he said. <h2>A unicorn </h2><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image">Charitybuzz</div></div></div>The computer that Dellimore won is in fact one of a kind. There aren't too many Apple-1 computers still in existence (maybe 60, and another one of those is owned by Dellimore).But the one that was up for auction may have be even rarer. It came with full documentation, tapes, and handwritten notes. Plus, the computer looked like it started as a "blank original-run board," not from the production runs, which means it may have been one of the first Apple-1 computers ever made. It's entirely possible that Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, the two Apple founders, may have worked with it. Some of the components are even different from what was included in the final Apple-1 computers. Dellimore wants to display the artifact for a limited time with a partner institution like a museum, and he wants the piece of history to be used to help educate younger people. But he thinks that ultimately, the computer is worth far more than $815,000 - it's priceless. Sephora was named retailer of the year at the 2018 World Retail Congress. And it seems that people can't get enough. Here are some sneaky ways you might not have noticed that Sephora gets you to spend more.As soon as you walk into one of their locations, you'll notice what makes Sephora different from the traditional department stores it competes with. Sephora has nearly all of their products on display, so customers can try just about everything. It's great for the customers because they can test stuff out, but it's equally great for the company because you're in the store for longer, which means you're more likely to buy more.A 2015 study found that the likelihood of purchasing a product increases with time spent holding and looking at it in the store. The more time you spend trying out a product, the more it feels like it's already in your possession and you need to purchase it.Sephora also has kiosks stocked with makeup remover, tissues, and other necessities so customers can clean up, and, more importantly, so that they can try more products throughout the store. And if you're not sure what to get, Sephora has even developed special technology to match customers with their perfect foundation shades. The device, called Color IQ, scans your skin to assign you a four-number code, which gives you a curated list of all the foundation shades from different brands that will best match your specific skin tone.And if you're not taking advantage of the samples, the shelves are also set up with an eye on your wallet. The most expensive products are placed on top shelves because they're the easiest to reach, while cheaper items are on the bottom shelves. And, of course, the checkout line is surrounded with travel-size goodies to tempt you at the last minute.Amanda Krause: So, when you're up against the register lines and, you know, you're kind of looking at all those mini products, you'll find things that are maybe, you know, $5, $10, depending on what it is. And that can be enticing for a lot of reasons. Maybe there's a primer you really wanna try but you don't wanna spend $25 on the full size, so you can just get a smaller one for 10 bucks.Narrator: But while the smaller products and their smaller price tags may seem like a good deal, they're often not. According to the Harvard Business Review, reward programs not only encourage customer loyalty, but can also get new customers to shop like older, more profitable customers. And the longer a person has been a customer, the more profitable they become to the store and the less they cost to serve.Sephora's Beauty Insider program has three tiers, and anyone can sign up for the basic level. Members earn a point for every dollar they spend, as well as perks like a birthday gift and beauty classes. The highest, most coveted tier is Rouge, and you have to spend $1,000 in a calendar year to qualify. The exclusive benefits include significant discounts on all merchandise during Sephora's sales and free two-day shipping year round.Nico Reyes: So, I've actually been a Sephora shopper since about 2014. And only just recently, this past year, did I become a VIB Rouge.Narrator: Sephora's exclusive rewards for Rouge members include sponsored trips with cosmetics brands to New York City or Los Angeles, and some members have even spent more than $35,000 to rack up enough points to redeem on such trips. But is it worth the $1,000 to reach Rouge status?Reyes: VIB Rouge has benefits that VIB doesn't have, like early access to products, like invitations to, like, Sephora events, facials, whatever. If that's something you're interested in, then work towards it, sure. But if not, VIB is literally so similar. They're so similar in terms of their benefits; I don't think it's worth it to actively try to spend $1,000 a year to reach that status.Narrator: After all, both VIB and Rouge members have access to Sephora's sales. Sephora definitely makes it easy to spend more, but finding good deals isn't impossible.Krause: Sephora constantly puts things on clearance, just maybe not at the forefront of the store. In the past seven weeks of social distancing, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/januaryjones/?hl=en">January has filled her feed with hilarious videos</a> of her trying daily face masks, high-tech treatments, and reeling off the ingredients to her bi-weekly detox bath — or her "human stew," as she affectionately calls it.For some, the 42-year-old has become an unlikely beauty influencer amidst isolation, but January's beauty knowledge shouldn't come as a surprise — she's been <a href="https://www.glamour.com/story/shani-darden-what-it-costs-to-be-me">a long time client of celebrity facialist Shani Darden</a>, and in 2016 was the face of luxury hair brand Kérastase.Since lockdown, the TV star's witty posts have made their way onto my feed, and I found myself learning a thing or two while reading her replies to her followers' beauty queries. Armed with a bout of curiosity and a lot more time on my hands, I figured there was no harm in trying her tips for the ultimate isolation beauty routine if it meant glowing, supple skin à la Jones — so, I decided to try and look after myself like January for a week.In <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/B-xX1nfl_9M/">one of her recent beauty Instagram updates</a>, the actress revealed she was "trying several face masks every day" in isolation. These masks revolved around three main categories; the peel-off, the sheet mask, and an at-home light therapy device.However, as an at-home LED therapy virgin, I was only supposed to use it a maximum of four times a week, so decided to alternate my "off days" with her bi-weekly detox "human stew" bath and her trusty bath mask of choice — clay.My January Jones isolation-inspired beauty routine looked something like this: <ul><li>Morning: Cleanse, tone and add a peel-off mask then apply serum, moisturizer, oil, and SPF.</li><li>Evening: Cleanse face and apply a hydrating sheet mask.</li><li>Before bed: Cleanse and tone, then use a light therapy device on an anti-ageing setting for 10 minutes. Truly, what did I do to karma? After a round of Clarityn and contemplating what new thing I was allergic to, I knew my journey to achieving January-level skin would be a slow one. Hoping good things come to those who wait, I knew I would have to ignore the proposed plan until my skin calmed down. I tried a hydrating mask to calm my newly acquired reptilian complexion after washing my face with my usual Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil.Although I didn't have Jones' preferred isolation Lapcos Good Morning Quick Mask in my arsenal, I had another that she loved in my bathroom cabinet — Skin111's Bio Cellulose Treatment Facial Mask, which aimed to do the same thing (hydrate).Looking for inspiration as I lay somewhat defeated in my face mask, I rewatched January's <a href="http://instagram.com/p/B-xX1nfl_9M/">video of her trying out her quarantine sheet mask</a> and realized she wasn't without her own speed bumps.In the clip, January's phone falls over multiple times and her sheet mask just won't stay in place, but instead of starting over, she utters the words I needed to hear: "I'm just doing my best." That I am January, that I am.After finding a sense of calm in Jones' words, I accepted defeat and understood that I was going to have to watch how my skin healed before I could go all-in with her isolation beauty routine, keeping to one hydrating daily mask until then. <h2>It wasn't until Day 3 that my skin calmed down and I could truly tackle thrice-daily masking</h2><div type="image" title="JJ Isolation Beauty Routine 2" height="893" width="1200" msid="75715544" hostid="261"></div>As my skin finally got back to normal, I upped the ante and kicked off my morning with January's favourite peel-off mask post cleanse and tone.Throughout the week it became clear that face masks are hilariously ironic in the sense that the better the glow you want to achieve, the more ridiculous the mask you must wear.Case in point was when my other half likened me to Oompa Loompa from "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" as I tackled the Pomelo peel-off mask by Sanctuary Spa, which had quite the orange hue.As I peeled off the product, I had flashbacks to<a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/B-KiZ1RgO4p/"> January's video</a> where she tried Lapcos' Pearl Glow Peel Off Mask, which wouldn't budge without a few "aahhhs" and "oh Gods."Following suit, I winced, contorted my face a peculiar way, and just like January, my skin was "reborn." I understood the power of the peel.Despite not being able to get the exact mask January used due to lockdown-related shipping delays, Boots' Sanctuary Spa option achieved similar results to <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/B-KiZ1RgO4p/">the one Jones used in the Instagram video</a>, making my skin feel instantly refined and surprisingly soft. I continued to apply my usual morning serums — Kiehl's Powe-ful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate, my Aesop moisturizer, Scientia Dawn Elixir, and regular Eau Thermale Avène SPF — to really pack in that moisture.Although a peel-off mask is difficult to remove and should come with a warning on why not to apply it over your eyebrows, January is onto something using it daily — and that something is radiant skin.<h2>My second mask of the day became an instant favorite</h2><div type="image" title="Charlotte Tilbury Mask" height="1195" width="1200" msid="75715545" hostid="261"></div>Keeping to my multi-masking schedule, I tried my second mask once I finished my day's work — because nobody wants to risk an unscheduled Zoom call while sporting a sheet mask and more importantly, it gave me a reason to wrap up on time. I popped on Charlotte Tilbury's Instant Magic Facial Dry Sheet mask, another favorite of January's <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/B6wyEUBl4AA/">which she has previously shared on Instagram</a>. The multi-award-winning hydrating mask promises "facialist results in 15 minutes" as well as "reducing the appearance of wrinkles for a dewy, plumper-looking complexion," which all sounds fantastic until you put it on and momentarily look like Jason from "Friday the 13th."Despite the initial fright I gave myself after looking in the mirror, the ice hockey mask-inspired sheet did everything it said on the tin and then some. The mask quickly became one of my favorites throughout the week and will remain a staple in my beauty cabinet for the sheer fact there is no need to apply any extra serums or moisturizers after you're done using it because it's already hydrating enough.Adding to its appeal is the fact you can reuse the mask up to three times, meaning you really get your money's worth, especially with the product's immediate results.Thanks January, I've been firmly #influenced.<h2>It wasn't all sunshine and sheet masks, though</h2><div type="image" title="JJ Isolation Beauty Routine 3" height="875" width="1200" msid="75715549" hostid="261"></div>On March 26, the actress posted an <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/B9-Ch6VlBcI/">Instagram video</a> of her dancing like everybody was watching while wearing the Déesse Pro Light Therapy Mask with a can of Coors Light and a paper straw in hand.Costing a cool £1,680, the mask has six different treatment settings that target acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles and claims to deliver "a safe therapeutic dose to stimulate a natural cellular response."As lovely as all this sounds, if it costs more than a month's rent for my two-bed flat I would expect it to do the ironing, too. But being dedicated to the cause, I did manage to get my mitts on a device from Amazon which claimed to do the same but for a more affordable price. According to skin experts, the at-home device mask, which doesn't emit UV rays, should be used a maximum of four times a week — and beginners should start at 10 minutes before slowly working up to 20 minutes a session. Following January's rules on day 3, I popped on my new beauty tool, grabbed a drink, and danced like nobody was watching (because they weren't). Mine came with four different light settings (red, blue, green, and yellow), but following Jones' Instagram post I turned on the red light, which purports to target anti-aging, reduce inflammation, and shrink the appearance of pores.Similar to my morning routine, I used the same Kiehl's cleansing oil in the evening and the brand's Ultra Face Toner before popping on the mask.I must admit that putting the light therapy device on after my skin issues earlier in the week did give me some anxiety, but there was absolutely no reason to be fearful — in fact, it helped the little irritation I had to heal. I noticed after using it consistently throughout the week that my complexion was noticeably clearer — even better still, you don't need any down time after using this particular at-home device so can get on with your day.<h2>January's bi-weekly detox bath has become the stuff of beauty legend</h2><div type="image" title="JJ Isolation Beauty Routine 1" height="885" width="1200" msid="75715552" hostid="261"></div>In her now infamous <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/B949tW1FsBD/">IGTV</a>, January recited the recipe to her "human stew" while clad in the most sensational sequin rainbow tunic, and with her face slathered with Glam Glow's Supermud Charcoal Instant Treatment Mask.Although the ingredients to her hot bath started off normal in the form of bubble bath and some essential oils, things took a turn when she added a pound of baking soda, Epsom salts, and apple cider vinegar to the water.Now I don't know about you, but I could feel my intimate areas immediately wincing with the thought of sitting amongst all those elements for 20 minutes in a bid to detoxify my skin.And I wasn't alone, as the post was littered with questions that included: "Girl how does that not destroy your coochie," "Tell me about what this does to your vagine," and "There is no way your vaginal health is okay with baking soda and salt."At first, I sided with her many commenters and thought she was pulling the ultimate prank, until I tried it — and I'm sorry I ever doubted her, because my skin has never felt softer.According to <a href="https://www.healthline.com/">Healthline</a>, baking soda combats skin concerns, while apple cider vinegar restores the skin's pH balance, and Epsom salts help circulatory health.Due to the aforementioned allergic reaction, I was definitely worried about overdoing my skincare experiment, so attempted my first bath on day four.I also decided to try the bath on the days I wouldn't use the light therapy device in a bid not to overload or expose my skin to extreme heat or light.Once I knew that my skin could handle it, I drew my first bath and hesitantly stepped in.Did the bath smell weird? No, quite the opposite — nor did it feel gritty with all the dry ingredients added to it. In fact, I found the whole experience really relaxing. <h2>I slathered on a detoxifying clay mask while I soaked in the bath</h2><div type="image" title="Mask 1" height="1227" width="1200" msid="75715554" hostid="261"></div>I couldn't get my hands on January's preferred bath time product — GlamGlow SuperMud mask — in time, so instead I opted for Charlotte Tilbury's Goddess Clay Mask, which also aims to slough away dead skin cells that lead to dullness much like its competitor, but doesn't have that tight, drying feeling some clay offerings do.Once I cleansed and toned my face, I slathered Tilbury's easy-to-apply face mask — which is a mix of Spanish clay, sweet almond oil, and rosehip oil — all over my visage and left it to gently draw out the impurities.In Jones' witty "human stew" video, she suggested listening to a podcast or reading a book while the bath and the face mask worked its magic.
