Hence, even though women view GenAI as a crucial step in their professional journey, most of them still aren't confident using it. The report, titled "GenAI: The Diversity Game Changer We Can't Ignore," was unveiled at the nasscom Global Inclusion Summit in Bengaluru on August 8, 2024. The report highlights that women in both tech and non-tech roles exhibit high levels of professional ambition and are willing to put in extra effort to achieve success. This ambition is particularly pronounced in the AI/GenAI field, where women see mentorship as a key factor in their success. Currently, women make up 36% of India’s tech workforce but remain underrepresented in executive roles. GenAI, which involves advanced AI tools that can create new content, designs, and solutions, is seen as a game-changer for the tech industry. As GenAI is expected to dominate 33% of the global AI landscape by 2027, the market is projected to reach $320-380 billion. This rapid growth presents a unique opportunity for fostering gender diversity by helping women overcome traditional barriers and excel in their careers. The report reveals that women are ready to invest more time to achieve professional success in GenAI. According to the survey findings, 95% of junior, 96% of mid-management, and 100% of senior management women are prepared to put in extra effort. Women also view GenAI tools as a significant boost to their perceived competence, with 45% of <keyword id="20599228" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="women-in-tech" source="keywords">women in tech</keyword> roles feeling more confident compared to their non-tech peers. <h2>Challenges in GenAI adoption</h2>Despite the enthusiasm, many women at senior management levels face challenges in adopting GenAI tools. These challenges include limited knowledge, lack of trust, restricted access to these tools, and fear of competence scrutiny. Knowledge gaps are the primary barrier, cited by women across all levels from entry roles to the C-suite. Search analytics firm Elastic on Monday released the Generative AI Report that gathered insights from 3,200 IT decision-makers and influencers across sectors in the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. In the Asia Pacific and Japan region, 1,200 were surveyed, including 300 from India. According to the report, 81 per cent of Indian organisations have already implemented GenAI, making India the leader in adopting generative artificial intelligence technologies. The study also predicted promising investment trends in near future, with about 94 per cent of respondents anticipating increased investments and budget allocations towards GenAI initiatives in the next 2-3 years. However, almost all of the respondents expressed concerns about processing and using their data. "As many as 99 per cent of respondents expressed concerns about processing and using their data, highlighting the need for organisations to work with GenAI providers who can help safeguard sensitive information. The report further observed that 73 per cent of respondents in India were confident that conversational data search capabilities would significantly enhance operational efficiency. India leads in GenAI adoption, investment trends likely to rise in coming years: Report

The Indian <keyword id="21219153" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="employment-market" source="keywords">employment market</keyword> is projected to experience a 6.33% incremental expansion over the first half of FY 2024-25, according to a report by TeamLease. The report highlighted that 56% of employers expect their workforce to grow, 21% anticipate a decline, and 23% believe their workforce size will remain unchanged. The report provided a detailed analysis of the <keyword id="21680463" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-job-market" source="keywords">Indian job market</keyword> across 23 industries and 20 cities. It highlighted workforce expansion trends, emphasizing the impact of <keyword id="20509550" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="economic-conditions" source="keywords">economic conditions</keyword>, organizational dynamics, skill shortages, and <keyword id="20358462" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="technological-advancements" source="keywords">technological advancements</keyword> on hiring strategies. The growth in the employment market is attributed to the favourable economic conditions in the country, including a nearly 7% GDP growth forecast for 2024 by most global rating agencies, which would make India the fastest-growing G-20 nation. Strong investment demand, peaking headline inflation, and a greater emphasis on technology and skills by employers are also key factors. In terms of cities, Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad emerged as the top cities with the highest proportion of employers expanding their workforce sizes. These cities attract businesses due to their established infrastructure, large talent pools, and economic vitality. The consistent preference for these major cities underscores their significance as job concentration hubs, despite the growing trend of expansion into new locations. These urban centres play a strategic role in driving employment growth and economic development in India. The report also noted that nearly two out of five organizations are focusing on bridging skill gaps, highlighting a shift towards a more adaptable and skilled workforce in preparation for technological advancements and new skills. The report said that Generative AI (<keyword id="19949719" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="GenAI" source="keywords">GenAI</keyword>) is particularly noteworthy, as it has the potential to transform key business processes, impacting workforce dynamics and reshaping talent management. In response, 35% of surveyed organizations reported significant changes in their talent acquisition strategies to integrate advanced AI technologies. On the unemployment front, the report stated out that a significant portion of the unemployed workforce, nearly 83%, consists of youth aged 15-29. Over the past two decades, there has been a significant increase in the educational attainment of these unemployed youths. The proportion of those with at least secondary education rose from 35.2% in 2000 to 65.7% in 2022, indicating a rising educational profile among the unemployed. However, the national <keyword id="20054242" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="unemployment-rate" source="keywords">unemployment rate</keyword> has progressively decreased, falling to 3.1% in 2023 from 3.6% in 2022 and 4.2%in 2021. The unemployment rate in urban areas also decreased from 7.2% to 6.5% for persons aged 15 years and above between October-December 2022 and October-December 2023. As Generative AI tools take centre stage in India's digital economy, at least 92% of organisations consider <keyword id="17930214" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="genai" source="Orion">GenAI</keyword> to be a potential <keyword id="456038" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="security-risk" source="Orion">security risk</keyword>, a new report showed on Wednesday. While 95% of organisations in India are using GenAI tools in some form, 75% of them admit lack of skill or talent for not yet using GenAI tools like ChatGPT, according to the report by Cloud security provider <keyword id="2426820" type="General" weightage="60" keywordseo="zscaler" source="Orion">Zscaler</keyword>. About 71% in India agree that IT teams, not general employees, emerge as the overwhelming force behind usage. "Our survey underscores the dynamism of GenAI adoption, highlighting the need to sharpen focus on both Zero trust principles and skill development to unlock the full potential of GenAI technology," said Sudip Banerjee, CTO, APJ, Zscaler. "Therefore, integrating a zero-trust solution can provide full control over technology's usage per user and application, allowing organisations to maintain a secure and controlled environment," he added. In a worryingly trend, 22% of those surveyed are not monitoring the GenAI usage at all, and 36% have yet to implement any additional GenAI-related security measures, though many have it on their roadmap. "With the current ambiguity surrounding their (GenAI tools) security measures, a mere 30% of organisations in India perceive their adoption as an opportunity rather than a threat," said Sanjay Kalra, VP Product Management at Zscaler. "This not only jeopardises their business and customer data integrity, but also squanders their tremendous potential," he noted. Despite mainstream awareness, it is not employees who appear to be the driving force behind current interest and usage - only 3% of respondents in India said it stemmed from employees. Instead, 71% said usage was being driven by the IT teams directly in India. "The fact that IT teams are at the helm should offer a sense of reassurance to business leaders," Kalra said. With 75% of respondents in India anticipating a significant increase in the interest of GenAI tools before the end of the year, organisations need to act quickly to close the gap between use and security, the report mentioned.

CEOs in India and globally are prioritising investments in generative AI as a key competitive advantage for the future, with 66% of CEOs in India compared to and 70% of CEOs globally considering it as a top investment priority for their organisation. The KPMG 2023 <keyword id="3630354" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india-ceo-outlook" source="Orion">India CEO Outlook</keyword> shows geopolitics and political uncertainty have become the leading perceived risk this year for senior executives – concerns that didn’t even make the top three of the five risks in 2022. That said, the confidence of CEOs in India in terms of growth prospects for the global economy over the next three years has considerably increased to 69% in 2023 from 57% in 2022, demonstrating optimism and a strong resilience towards a long-term growth trajectory. The level of confidence of CEOs in India in their own company’s growth prospects too has remained mostly unchanged from the past year (71% in 2023 compared to 72% in 2022), contrary to the declining confidence of CEOs globally (77% in 2023 compared to 85% in 2022), indicating their resilience in weathering the storms of uncertainty. Even though CEOs in India see a slight decline in growth prospects for the country in 2023 from 2022 levels, they exhibit enough resilience to recover in the short-term. However, the volatile nature of geopolitics and trade patterns, combined with rising interest rates and monetary tightening could act as a headwind for companies. Interestingly, only a small fraction of CEOs in India compared to their global counterparts share this viewpoint, which reflects positively on India. “CEOs in India are facing challenges and obstacles to growth on multiple fronts – from geopolitical uncertainty and politicisation to increased stakeholder expectations in the ESG space and the adoption of generative AI.
