Noida: 2 cops test COVID-19 positive

Noida (UP), Jun 10 () Six policemen deployed in Gautam Buddh Nagar are currently undergoing treatment for COVID-19, while four others are in quarantine, officials said on Wednesday. So far, over 300 policemen working in the district have undergone COVID-19 test, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Ankur Aggarwal said. "Till now, 19 police personnel have tested positive and 13 of them have been discharged from hospitals. At present, six are hospitalised for treatment," Aggarwal, also the police nodal officer for COVID-19, said. He added that four personnel are currently quarantined as a precaution. The district police had on June 4 said that none of its offices would be closed for work and only sanitation drive will be carried out on premises affected by COVID-19. Gautam Buddh Nagar, adjoining Delhi, in western Uttar Pradesh has so far recorded nearly 700 positive cases of coronavirus including 10 deaths, while 423 patients have recovered from the infection till Tuesday, according to official figures. Noida: 6 cops currently hospitalised for COVID-19

Noida (UP), Jul 7 () Police personnel in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar, which has recorded the maximum COVID-19 cases in the state, have stepped up to offer their blood plasma for treatment of coronavirus patients, officials said Tuesday. There are currently 19 police personnel in the district who are undergoing treatment for the COVID-19. The disease has claimed the life of one policeman, the officials said. So far, 50 policemen have tested positive for COVID-19 in the district and 30 of them have been discharged after treatment, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Noida, Ankur Aggarwal said. "Several of our colleagues got infected with COVID-19 and many of them have now expressed their willingness to donate their (blood) plasma," Aggarwal, also the district police's nodal officer for COVID-19, said. "There is a rule that a person can donate their plasma only after 28 days of recovery in order to help people fight coronavirus. In next three-four days, some of our personnel will complete the mandatory 28 days and make the plasma donation," the officer said, lauding his colleagues for going beyond their call of duty. The ADCP, however, told that the number of personnel making the donation would be confirmed only after their medical check-up by experts. Technically called "convalescent plasma therapy", the treatment aims at using the immune power gained by a recovered person to treat a sick person, according to a statement of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), the apex biomedical research body in India, has also approved of the therapy for the treatment of COVID-19. Gautam Buddh Nagar, adjoining Delhi in western UP, has so far recorded 2,831 positive cases of COVID-19, including 28 deaths, while there are 1,041 active patients, according to latest available official figures. Fighting COVID-19, Noida cops step up for plasma donation

Noida (UP), Jul 4 () Fifty-one people have been booked for holding a cricket match in Greater Noida in violation of the administration's COVID-19 guidelines, police said on Saturday. Challans have also been issued to owners of 17 cars which were used by the participants of the match held on Friday, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Greater Noida, Rajesh Kumar Singh said. Those booked include two Delhi-based organisers of the event and they have been identified as Deepak Aggarwal and Nagik Khurana. Several participants too hailed from the national capital, the police said. "The cricket match was held in the Knowledge Park police station area without permission, with its lead organisers being Deepak Aggarwal and Nagik Khurana. Due to COVID-19, it is well known that everyone has to maintain social distancing and it has been made mandatory to wear masks," Singh said. He said a lot of people had gathered for the event without following social distancing norms. Fifty-one people have been booked and an FIR has been registered at the Knowledge Park police station, the DCP said. The FIR has been lodged under Indian Penal Code sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (unlawfully or negligently spreading infection of any disease dangerous to life) and 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), the police said. Provisions under the Epidemic Diseases Act have also been invoked in the case, they added. Gautam Buddh Nagar police had recently renewed CrPC Section 144, which bars assembly of more than four people at a place, till July 31 in view of the pandemic across Noida and Greater Noida. The district police had also extended the ban on social, political, cultural or sports gatherings among others, and warned action against offenders.
