Bhubaneswar, Feb 8 () Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday assured all support to Adani Group which has shown interest in investing in different sectors in the state. The company has already expressed interest to invest in logistics, industrial park, new age technology and metal industries in the state. The assurance was given by the chief minister when he met the Group's chairman Gautam Adani at the Naveen Niwas, Patnaik's residence here. They discussed Adani Group's investment plan in different sectors in Odisha, sources said. Patnaik also invited Adani to the state's biennial industrial event, 'Make in Odisha Conclave 2020', scheduled to be held in November-December. The Group, one of India's largest business conglomerates, has already been running an all-weather port at Dhamra in Odisha's Bhadrak district and also started work on the LNG terminal and an LPG terminal. Senior Adani was a notable absentee at a similar investor summit organised by the Uttar Pradesh government in Lucknow last month. Gautam Adani had attended the previous UP investor summit. Karan Adani said currently, Adani Group operates the two largest private ports in Andhra Pradesh - Krishnapatnam and Gangavaram, with a total capacity of 100 million tonnes per annum. "In the next 5 years, not only do we aim to double this capacity, but also transform these ports into industrial port cities," he said. "By developing industrial clusters at Krishnapatnam and Gangavaram and attracting industries, we will be able to reduce the logistics costs drastically, thus making these industries far more competitive globally." The group is also developing 15,000 MW of renewable power projects over the next few years across five districts of Anantapur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram. "Our other investments in the state include cement manufacturing units and data centres. Presently we do not have any cement manufacturing capacity in Andhra Pradesh. Hence, as part of our expansion plans, we will be setting up cement plants in Kadapa and Nadikudi with a total capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum," he said. Also, the group is working on developing a 400 MW of data centre in Visakhapatnam. "These projects will bring further employment opportunities and demonstrate our commitment to the sustainable growth of the state of Andhra Pradesh," he said. He praised Andhra Pradesh for its "excellent infrastructure, large manufacturing base, talented youth, and business-friendly environment." With the second longest coastline in India, the state has been recognised by the World Bank as the No.1 implementer of energy efficiency and conservation programmes. Turning to CSR work being done by Adani Foundation, he said "our footprint in the state of Andhra Pradesh is getting bigger as I speak on this occasion." "We are investing in education, healthcare, nutrition, access to potable water, sports and building an ecosystem of skilling and sustainable livelihood in the state. Our teams are executing programs in Nellore, Tirupati, and Visakhapatnam districts. Adani to set up cement plants, data centre in Andhra Pradesh

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has advised that the <keyword id="6409874" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="astrazeneca">AstraZeneca</keyword> COVID-19 vaccine be administered to people aged 60 and over, rather than those over 50 years as was previously recommended, Health Minister Greg <keyword id="44493" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="hunt">Hunt</keyword> said on Thursday. Adults aged 59 and under will now be offered <keyword id="44612" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pfizer">Pfizer</keyword>'s vaccine based on the updated advice, reports <keyword id="106387" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Xinhua-news-agency">Xinhua news agency</keyword>. "The experts at ATAGI have today updated their advice to recommend the Pfizer vaccine be preferred for adults aged 59 and under," Hunt said in a statement. "The ATAGI advice remains clear that the AstraZeneca vaccine is highly effective in preventing severe disease caused by <keyword id="8764262" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid">COVID</keyword>. "This updated advice received today is based on new evidence demonstrating a higher risk for the very rare TTS (thrombocytopenia syndrome) condition in the 50-59 year-old age group," he added. According to the minister, AstraZeneca remains recommended for those aged 60 and over based on the much higher risk of illness and death from COVID in this age group, and the lower risk of this condition. Despite the change, Hunt said the rollout was on track and that every Australian who wants to be vaccinated will receive at least their first dose by the end of 2021. The ATAGI's decision came after 12 new cases of "this rare, but sometimes very serious clotting condition" were identified in the last week. Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly said the medical advice was that people who received their first AstraZeneca dose without any adverse effects should get their second dose. "Anyone who has had a first dose of AstraZeneca without a problem should feel very confident to have their second dose," he said. With an annual contribution of ₹1,161 crore in fiscal 2022, Shiv Nadar has displaced Wipro’s Azim Premji as the most generous Indian, according to the EdelGive <keyword id="3606268" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hurun-india-philanthropy-list" source="Orion">Hurun India Philanthropy List</keyword> 2022. The top 10 list cumulatively donated ₹3,378 crore in FY22, as against a combined donation of ₹12,785 crore last year. The good news is that the list has seen 19 new additions, with total donations by these new entrants adding up to ₹832 crore. Also, six women have featured on the list this year. The youngest philanthropist on the list is 36-year-old Nikhil Kamath of Zerodha. Clearly, the young entrepreneurs are beginning their philanthropic journey early on unlike many others from corporate India. Nadar’s philanthropic efforts have mainly focussed on education. Overall, contributions towards philanthropy have fallen in FY22 because of the pandemic impact. Nadar’s donation too is down 8% in the fiscal year 2021-22, as per the list. Wipro’s Azim Premji slipped to the second spot with an annual donation of ₹484 crore as his contribution towards philanthropy has fallen by 95% year-on-year due to the exceptional share buy-back in 2021, says the report. Billionaire <keyword id="3820" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mukesh-ambani" source="Orion">Mukesh Ambani</keyword>, the chairman of Reliance Industries, is third on the list with contributions totalling ₹411 crore. Ambani’s contribution fell 29% compared to last year. Kumar Mangalam Birla was fourth on the list with a contribution of ₹242 crore. Couples Susmita &amp; Subroto Bagchi and Radha &amp; NS Parthasarathy from Mindtree’s management debuted on the list with a combined donation of ₹426 crore to the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and also entered the top 10 and were ranked fifth. Sources said that the recruitment and clinical trials of the children aged 6-12 years will start from Tuesday. The trial on children aged 6-12 has already started at AIIMS Patna. Participants would be given the vaccine after their screening report comes. The trial would ensure if the Bharat Biotech jab is suitable for children. Delhi AIIMS has decided to start the trial drive after the recruitment and <keyword id="122283" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Clinical-trial">clinical trial</keyword> for single-dose Covaxin for 12-18 age group is over. After the recruitment of 6-12 year-old children, AIIMS Delhi will be conducting trials for the age group 2-6 years of children. The trials are taking place at 525 centres. The screening of children for the trial of single-dose Covaxin among those aged between 2 and 18 years started at the AIIMS in <keyword id="6358777" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="New-Delhi">New Delhi</keyword> on June 7 after India's drug regulator had granted permission for conducting the Phase 2 and 3 clinical trials of Covaxin in the age group 2 to 18 years on May 12. AIIMS Patna, Mysore Medical College and Research Institute in Karnataka have also been selected to conduct clinical trials on children. Covaxin is being used on adults in India's ongoing Covid-19 vaccination drive since January 16 this year. The government last week cautioned that even though Covid-19 has not taken a serious shape among children till now, its impact can increase among them if there is a change in virus behaviour or epidemiology dynamics, and said preparations are being strengthened to deal with any such situation. AIIMS Delhi to start clinical trial of Covaxin on children aged 6-12 years from Tuesday

<keyword id="4912868" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="moderna">Moderna</keyword>'s mRNA COVID vaccine and a protein-based shot is safe for use in young children and offers strong immunity response, with no adverse effects, according to a research on baby rhesus macaques. The study by a team of scientists at the <keyword id="390129" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="University-of-North-Carolina">University of North Carolina</keyword> (<keyword id="3984039" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="UNC">UNC</keyword>) at Chapel Hill, Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian reported that both the vaccines elicited strong neutralising antibody responses to <keyword id="8858345" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="sars-cov-2">SARS-CoV-2</keyword>, the virus causing Covid-19, in 16 baby rhesus macaques. The antibody responses persisted for 22 weeks. The research, published in the journal Science Immunology, suggests that vaccines for young children are likely important, safe tools to curtail the pandemic. "The level of potent antibodies we observed were comparable to what has been seen in adult macaques, even though the doses were 30 micrograms instead of the 100 microgram adult doses," said Kristina De Paris, <keyword id="6435115" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PhD">PhD</keyword>, professor of microbiology and immunology at the UNC School of Medicine "With the Moderna vaccine, we observed specific strong T cell responses, as well, which we know are important to limiting disease severity," De Paris added. To evaluate SARS-CoV-2 infant vaccination, the researchers immunised two groups of 8 infant rhesus macaques at 2.2 months of age and 4 weeks later. Each animal received one of two vaccine types: a preclinical version of the Moderna mRNA vaccine or a protein-based vaccine developed by the Vaccine Research Center of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health, with an adjuvant from 3M that stimulates cells through toll-like receptor 7 and 8. Both vaccines elicited high magnitude of IgG neutralising antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 and Spike protein-specific T cell responses -IL-17, IFN-g, and TNF. These are called T helper 1 immune responses. Importantly, the vaccines did not elicit T helper type 2 responses, which can be detrimental to vaccine efficacy and safety in infants. Such responses can counter the immune response against the virus. And so, T helper 2 responses have hindered the development of vaccines in young children, most notably for the common Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).
