The startup helps customers to get an effective interest rate of as low as 7% for owning an electric vehicle. <br /><br />“The biggest consumer need to unlock commercial EV adoption is smart financing. While OEMs are pushing the frontiers of EV tech, the market has lagged in innovating on the financing front. The lifecycle and the ownership journey of an electric ride are very different from those of an ICE vehicle,” said Vidyut co-founder Xitij Kothi. <br /><br />The adoption of commercial electric vehicles in the retail market, which comprises individual drivers and small business operators, has been slow because of a litany of problems. This includes high upfront cost of EVs, uncertainty over battery life and a non-existent resale market, the company states.<br /><br />VT offers two ownership plans: a hybrid financing model of a vehicle loan with a battery subscription, which is estimated to bring down the upfront EV cost by 40-50%, and a traditional term loan plan.<br /><br />“To scale big in India, the power lies in unlocking the value from small fleet owners and consumers who will ultimately drive the adoption,” Udaan founder and angel investor Sujeet Kumar said. <br /><br />The company stated that it plans to use the funding to scale up the offering across original equipment manufacturers (<keyword id="176215" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="oem" source="Orion">OEM</keyword>) partners and geographies. New Delhi, End-to-end global delivery management platform FarEye has laid off 90 employees, which is its second layoffs in about eight months amid the economic meltdown.<br /><br />According to a report in leading startup portal Inc42, the latest job cuts affected employees across departments, including tech, product, HRBP and sales.<br /><br />"The reduction in staff was necessary to align business strategy with market demand," said FarEye CEO Kushal Nahata, citing macroeconomic conditions for the fresh round of layoffs.<br /><br />In June last year, FarEye laid off nearly 250 employees amid the funding winter that engulfed the startup ecosystem.<br /><br />The company asked some of its workforce to leave because of 'strategic realignment' to focus on areas that drive maximum value.<br /><br />Nahata had said then that the platform "had to make some hard decisions to reduce its team across operations and services".<br /><br />"We are strengthening our core competencies, deepening our focus on product differentiation, and automation, and optimising the effort required to manage operations," Nahata added.<br /><br />FarEye, a global SaaS platform provider transforming last-mile logistics, was established in 2013 by Nahata, Gautam Kumar and Gaurav Srivastava.<br /><br />In May 2021, it raised $100 million in its series-E funding round led by TCV and Dragoneer Investment Group.<br /><br />In India, more than 21,000 tech employees have lost jobs in the deepening funding winter.<br /><br />

Layoff season continues as logistics mgmt startup FarEye lays off 250 people

The Central American country gets one-fifth of all <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=car+exports">cars shipped out of India</a>, becoming the topmost overseas market for India-made cars this year, by importing about 1.3 lakh vehicles.<br />

As per reports, car exports to Mexico will go up by over 50% to 1.32 lakh units in 2015-16, as against 82,000 vehicles for the same period last year.<br />

In 2014, we shipped approximately 55,000 cars to Mexico. In 2015, we expect to ship slightly higher number to Mexico," one of the persons associated with the matter told ET.<br />

Despite freight cost plus import duty of 20%, the likes of Volkswagen India and General Motors India have allocated large batches of cars from the country to Mexico to gain from economies of scale and cost advantage in the country that is about 20%-30%.<br />

Gaurav Vangaal, senior analyst, forecasting, at IHS Automotive, told the financial daily the booming demand in Mexico is a blessing in disguise for some carmakers that were unable to utilise their production capacity due to slow demand.<br />

Rakesh Srivastava, senior VP for sales and marketing at Hyundai Motor India, told ET his company plans to raise exports to Mexico by 37% in 2015 and ship over 12,500 cars.<br />

Clear your cookies or open an incognito tab before booking.</h3><p>According to Udayakumar, travel agencies and airlines often use your computer's cookies to determine what kind of flight you're interested in booking. Let's say you're flying from LA to Delhi, you can either go to www.airindia.in (instead of <span>www.airindia</span>.com) - this also works for travel search engine sites - or mask your computer's IP address by using an Indian VPN to make it seem like you're located in India. Book that flight and then just disembark in Chicago (don't board the connecting flight to Kentucky).</p><p><span></span>While doing this isn't technically illegal, many airlines don't allow it, and will even fine you. There are websites t<span>o help you uncover these layovers (like <a href="https://skiplagged.com">skiplagged.com</a> ), but make sure not to get caught, as airlines could also cancel your return trip. Plus, make sure not to</span><span> check any bags.</span></p><h3>8. Look out for "fifth-freedom flights."</h3><p>Srivastava explains that the "fifth freedom refers to the right for an airline to carry revenue traffic between two foreign countries as part of a service connecting the airline's home country."</p><p>Here's what that means in layman's terms: Generally, airlines fly between their home country and other countries, but occasionally, because of layovers, they will have flights between two foreign countries. For example, a flight operated by Singapore Airlines from New York to Singapore with a layover in Frankfurt is a fifth freedom flight, because neither New York nor Frankfurt are the airline's home country (that would be Singapore).</p><p>Why look out for these?
