PM Narendra Modi released the <keyword id="123247" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="commemorative-coins">commemorative coins</keyword> of Rs 150 denomination to celebrate Mahatma Gandhiji’s 150th birthday. The event took place in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on October 2, 2019 when the Prime Minister reached the Sabarmati Riverfront to participate in the proceedings of the Swacch Bharat Divas program. New Delhi, Gold prices on Thursday jumped by Rs 500 to Rs 65,650 per 10 grams in the national capital amid a rally in precious metal's rates in international markets, according to <keyword id="19969290" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hdfc-securities" source="keywords">HDFC Securities</keyword>. Maintaining its upward march for the third straight day, the precious metal touched a fresh lifetime high of Rs 65,650 per 10 grams. The yellow metal had closed at Rs 65,150 per 10 grams in the previous trade. Silver prices also rallied by Rs 400 to Rs 74,900 per kg. In the previous session, it closed at Rs 74,500 per kg. "Spot gold prices (24 carats) in the Delhi markets are trading at Rs 65,650 per 10 grams, up by Rs 500, taking bullish cues from the overseas markets," <keyword id="19969287" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="saumil-gandhi" source="keywords">Saumil Gandhi</keyword>, senior analyst of commodities at HDFC Securities, said. In the global markets, spot gold at Comex was trading at USD 2,152 per ounce, up by USD 30 from the previous close. "Looking ahead, the market focus shifts to the upcoming US Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for February, which is poised to be a key trigger for gold prices next week. Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi alleged,"In a report from the famous Financial Times, London, Now we know that Adani Group has committed another fraud of Rs 12,000 crore. So now the total corruption of the Adani Group stands at Rs 32,000 crore. Having failed earlier, the UK daily is making another effort to financially destabilise the Adani Group by raking up an old, baseless allegation of over-invoicing of coal imports, the statement added. Adani Group said in the case of Knowledge Infrastructure, one of the 40 importers mentioned in the General Alert Circular, the DRI's Show Cause Notice alleging over-valuation in the import of coal was quashed by the appellate tribunal (CESTAT). The question of over-invoicing price manipulation does not arise, it noted. Meanwhile, when asked why he was not raising questions about Sharad Pawar's meeting with Adani despite INDIA alliance being united on Adani issue, the Congress MP said, "I have not asked Sharad Pawar, he is not the Prime Minister of India. The Adani Group had then attacked Hindenburg as "an unethical short seller", stating that the report by the New York-based entity was "nothing but a lie". 1997 marked the ascent of Robert Vadra—that was the year when he became a part of the Gandhi family through his hushed-up marriage with <keyword id="12587" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Priyanka-Gandhi">Priyanka Gandhi</keyword>. Exactly 15 years later, 2012 marked the beginning of his possible downfall—the year when <keyword id="124047" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ashok-Khemka">Ashok Khemka</keyword>, a senior Haryana IAS officer, kicked up a political storm by alleging irregularities in the land dealings between Vadra and <keyword id="6362997" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="DLF">DLF</keyword>, the country’s largest realtor by market capitalisation, in the state. Khemka’s accusation led to a cascade of media reports detailing his dubious property deals, including one by The Wall Street Journal, probes and negative campaign against the Gandhi family and the <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> which is said to have augmented the fall of Congress, headed by Vadra’a mother-in-law Sonia Gandhi, in the last Lok Sabha elections. 
 
Vadra, born in 1969 to Rajendra and Maureen Vadra (whose family originally hailed from Scotland), has one among the crores of anonymous Delhiites till 1991 when Priyanka met him at a party arranged by Gandhi family’s Italian friends. His father Rajendra Vadra, who belonged to Moradabad in UP and whose family originally hailed from Pakistan (they moved to India at the time of partition), ran a business involving exports of brass and wood handicraft. Following his father’s footsteps, Robert Vadra—whose two siblings Richard and Michelle are no more (his sister Michelle died in a car accident in 2001, while brother Richard committed suicide in 2006)—was running a lesser-known costume jewellery export firm in Delhi when he met Priyanka. Their six-year-long courtship resulting in a cloistered marriage attended by hardly 150 guests opened a whole new chapter in Vadra’s life. 
 
Vadra, who is known to be a fan of dance and music, kept himself busy even since, dabbling between his diverse roles as Priyanka’s hubby, Congress president’s son-in-law, father of his children Raihan and Miraya and promoter of growing business interests. He also hogged the limelight in two other more intriguing avatars—as a fitness freak and a car and bike enthusiast. Vadra, who used to run a fitness bulletin on his Facebook page, boasts of working out hard to trim 20 kgs in five years. He gleefully owns Mercedes, BMW, Land Rover and Jaguar, besides his Rs 15 lakh 1800 cc cruise bike Suzuki Intruder. 
 
The string of events that sent him on a downward trail began in 2009, when he started buying tracts of arid agricultural land around Kolayat, a small town in Rajasthan. Soon after this, the central government announced plans to promote land-intensive solar-energy production for which the pieces of land Vadra purchase were suited, leading to a six-fold spike in the value of the land he bought within a few years. This was in addition to the realty assets he purchased in Haryana, including the deals between him and DLF which triggered Khemka’s allegations. According to The Wall Street Journal, as of the end of 2012 Vadra sold property worth more than $12 million and the value of realty assets he still possessed was about $42 million. 
 
During the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections Narendra Modi used every opportunity to take a dig at the Gandhi family by referring to Vadra’s questionable land deals. Now that Modi is in power and Congress’ fortunes are on a sharp downward spiral, Vadra has been winding up a clutch of his companies; six among them—Lifeline Agrotech, Greenwave Agro, Rightline Agriculture, Future Infra Agro, Best Seasons Agro and Primetime Agro—have already been dissolved or are getting dissolved. However, it is early to ascertain if a frantic attempt to shed firms and assets will help Vadra escape the scrutiny of law enforcement agencies, media and public, and turn around his fortunes; and in the process stop supplying ammunition to the acidic baiters of Sonia Gandhi and Congress.

NEW DELHI: <keyword id="1381889" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Honda-Cars-India">Honda Cars India</keyword> on Wednesday launched its new Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV), the Mobilio at a starting price of Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The petrol car will cost Rs 6.49 lakh for the E variant; Rs 7.50 lakh for S variant and Rs 8.76 lakh for the V variant. 
 The diesel variants have been priced between Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 10.86 lakh. The seven-seater MVP will take on the likes of Maruti <keyword id="6911" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="suzuki">Suzuki</keyword> Ertiga, <keyword id="292083" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Mahindra-Xylo">Mahindra Xylo</keyword>, Nissan Evalia and even the <keyword id="6374528" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Toyota">Toyota</keyword> Innova. Its closest competitor, the Ertiga petrol starts at Rs. 5.8 lakh and goes up to to Rs. 7.3 lakh while Diesel starts at Rs. 7.22 lakh and goes up to Rs. 8.49 lakh. 
 <keyword id="20630" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Honda">Honda</keyword> said that the name Mobilio has been coined from English words mobility and mobile. Honda Mobilio's deliveries will begin from today. 
 
The Honda Mobilio MPV is 4.4-metre long with a wheelbase of 2.6-metre and has a ground clearance of 185mm. While it looks similar to the Amaze sedan and Brio hatchback, it manages to be distinct with its stretched out proportions and non-boxy looks. The Mobilio looks the most distinct from the rear as all resemblance to the hatch and a sedan ends with a new set of tail lamps and plenty of curves. 
 
Moving to the interior - the Mobilio gets a two-tone colour scheme, which makes the cabin feel roomy. The seats are flexible with plenty of storage space, with a generous amount of cabin space and good amount of headroom. What is impressive is that even the third row seat gets adequate knee room and can be used for long drives. The interior of the Mobilio is similar to what we have on the Brio and Amaze. 
 
The entertainment system has been lifted from the new City, which also serves as a screen for the reversing camera on the top end variant of the car. The top end variant also gets faux wood fittings on the dash and the door, and faux leather seats. Base cargo are is at 223 L which can be enhanced to 512L in the third row fold configuration.

The Mobilio will be powered by the new 1.5-litre turbocharged Earth Dreams diesel engine that does duty on the Amaze and City churning out power of 100ps@3600 rpm and torque of 200 Nm@ 1750 rpm. The diesel engine continues to be noisy but Honda has done a better job in insulating the noise out in the Mobilio. 
 
The petrol variant gets the 1.5-litre i-VTEC unit producing a power of 119ps@6600 rpm and 145Nm of torque and is peppy and is the same that powers the City. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Mobilio also gets a bolder and sportier looking sport version in the form of RS, which comes with dynamic front and rear bumpers, projector headlamps with LED position lamps. Alloy wheels, chrome grille, tailgate spoiler and chrome exterior door handles. The RS will be available for deliveries by September 2014. 
 
The Mobilio has been developed at Honda R&amp;D Asia Pacific Co. Ltd in Bangkok, Thailand. "Honda has vast experience in offering a variety of premium MPVs to customers globally. The Mobilio has been launched in Indonesia in January this year and has clocked 46,000 units in sales. Honda expects sales of Asia Pacific to be at 1.2 million by 2017 and HCIL is expected to contribute 25 percent or 300,000 units in sales by then. The Mobilio is being manufactured at the company's Greater Noida plant and has 90 percent localization. HCIL is also expanding its dealer network to 230 facilities in 150 cities by end of 2014-14, with 75 percent coming up in smaller towns and cities.

Honda Mobilio MPV Launched At A Starting Price Of Rs 6.49 Lakh

Chennai, Tamil Nadu's ruling <keyword id="19897149" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dmk" source="keywords">DMK</keyword>, a key constituent of the INDIA bloc, in its manifesto released on Wednesday promised to repeal the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 if the opposition alliance wins the <keyword id="19895394" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lok-sabha" source="keywords">Lok Sabha</keyword> polls. Restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and holding polls there, scrapping the New Education Policy 2020, slashing fuel prices, annulling Article 361 of the Constitution that provides protection to governors from legal action and appointment of Governors following consultation with Chief Ministers, were among the key promises made by the DMK. The recommendations of the M S Swaminathan committee will be adopted to ensure that MSP for agricultural products "is set at total production cost plus 50 per cent," the DMK said. Also, it announced that if voted to power, the INDIA bloc will withdraw the Agnipath scheme and reintroduce "permanent recruitment service" in the Indian Armed forces. "From now on, population census, including caste-wise census and census concerning people below the poverty line, will be conducted by the Union government once every five years simultaneously." The DMK will firmly insist on the removal of Article 356, which allows the dismissal of duly elected state governments and imposition of President's rule. The Congress party's ally in Tamil Nadu said that "new constraints" on States' borrowing capacity, imposed by the union government beyond the limits in each state's FRBM-equivalent Act will be eliminated. "A recommendation to share cess revenues with states will be made. It will be proposed that the Finance Commission increase the horizontal devolution of tax revenue (to all States together) from 42 per cent to 50 per cent." The Union government's financial contributions to states will be based on the income tax and GST collected in those states. Thus, financial contributions will be assured based on the taxes collected within each state. The finance provided to states will be permanently determined based on the 1971 population. A 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and legislative assemblies will be implemented immediately. "DMK will insist that the Union government enact a law providing menstrual leave to women, emphasizing the journey towards gender equality." Petrol and diesel prices "will be set at Rs 75, Rs 65 (per litre)" and cooking gas cylinders shall be made available at Rs 500 (per cylinder). "The introduction of the Uniform Civil Code will be strictly prevented" to preserve India's secular nature as stated in the Constitution's preamble. "The 2019 CAA law will be repealed, and all minorities will be treated equally without any discrimination. The recommendations of the Sachar Committee for the improvement of the lives of Muslims and other minority communities will be implemented." Facilitation will be provided for <keyword id="21027983" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sri-lankan-tamil" source="keywords">Sri Lankan Tamil</keyword> refugees to get Indian citizenship. Assistance will be provided to those who wish to return to Sri Lanka. Also, the manifesto said efforts will be made to implement reservation for minorities at the all-India level, similar to Tamil Nadu. "The financial assistance previously provided to minority educational institutions has now been stopped. Action will be taken to resume this assistance." For "political" reasons, funding from foreign countries to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) has currently been stopped. "The Foreign Exchange Regulation Act will be properly amended, and measures will be taken to ensure these financial aids continue to reach NGOs without any problems." The proposal of 'One Nation, One Election' will be abandoned, and for the allocation of Lok Sabha seats to states, the current practice, based on the 1971 census will continue. All "people-unfriendly" laws introduced by the BJP government over the last 10 years will be reviewed immediately by the INDIA alliance government. The "labour-hostile laws" introduced by the BJP government will be "reformed." Through the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF), the Union government will ensure a minimum pension of Rs 5,000 per month. The number of working days under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act will be increased from 100 to 150 days. "A wage of Rs 400 will be provided across states/ union territories nationwide." Disbanding the current NITI Aayog, set up by the BJP regime and establishing again the Planning Commission to draft plans based on the requests of state governments is another assurance the DMK has made. "Measures will be taken to reclaim Kachchatheevu to ensure India's security and to protect the welfare of the fishermen." A mandatory "cooling-off period" of 2 years will be introduced for retired judges and secretaries before they could join private companies or political parties, the manifesto said. Waiving loans and interests for farmers in nationalised and scheduled banks, waiver of educational loans for students, monthly entitlement of Rs 1,000 for all women in every state and formation of <keyword id="21027984" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="state-development-council" source="keywords">State Development Council</keyword> by including Chief Ministers were among the promises made by the DMK. Exemption for Tamil Nadu from the NEET exam and complete removal of toll booths on national highways, forms part of poll promises of the Dravidian party. Further, the DMK said amendments will be made to relevant laws to ensure that state governments, elected by the people, appoint Vice-Chancellors to state-run universities, rather than Governors. Stopping government's divestment from public sector enterprises, implementing the Sethusamudram project, law to ban online gambling, setting up a <keyword id="19895345" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="supreme-court" source="keywords">Supreme Court</keyword> branch in Chennai, providing statehood for <keyword id="19901639" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="puducherry" source="keywords">Puducherry</keyword>, equal funding for all state languages including Tamil, were among the host of other promises made by the DMK. Establishment of Tamil departments in varsities and stopping construction of <keyword id="19950851" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mekedatu" source="keywords">Mekedatu</keyword> dam were also promised by the DMK. "The <keyword id="19996334" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vishwakarma-scheme" source="keywords">Vishwakarma Scheme</keyword>, introduced by the BJP government to encourage caste-based occupations, will be restructured on the basis of social justice."

TDP head Chandrababu Naidu submitted his resignation to the governor. However, it is also to be noted that TDP has a 39% vote share while YSRC has 50% share of the state’s votes. Reddy’s legwork Jagan Reddy has walked in late father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s foothpath, literally. The senior Reddy of Congress party ended nine years of Naidu rule and extensive popularity in 2004, with a padyatra or a walking tour where he walked across every second village in the state. A new party Last elections in 2014, YSR Congress was routed by the TDP-BJP combine. However, very few political pundits wrote off Jagan, especially after his thumping win at Kadapa by-elections in 2011 which shows that he had popular support. He had then won by a margin of five-and-a-half votes over his nearest Congress rival. Cracks between Rajesekhar Reddy’s heir apparent Jagan and party leader Sonia Gandhi emerged after she asked him to call off a ‘condolence tour’ that he went on, after his father’s death. The tour came at a time when tensions were ride on the Telangana state division issue. However, Jagan went ahead while defying the new Congress chief minister in power K Rosaiah, and resigned as the party MP in 2010. Soon after, Jagan took over the reins of the YSR Congress party formed by a fan of his father, and finally led it to its success. One of Y S R Reddy’s poll promises were free electricity and a health insurance programme and reinvigorated a provide rice for Rs 2 per kilo. In a bid to encourage more people to move towards <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=stock+market&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Indian stock markets</a>, Indian government may announce tax breaks for first time direct equity investors. As per several reports, it is also likely that Jaitley may announce a new scheme in this regard or tweak the existing Rajiv Gandhi Equity Savings Scheme (RGESS) for attracting investment. 
 
The new or modified scheme will be under Section 80 (C) plan that will be likely be announced in the budget for 2017-18. 
 
Jaitley may raise tax breaks offered on money in a pool of savings instruments such as fixed deposits, insurance premium and mutual funds from Rs 150,000 to above Rs 200,000 a year. 
 
Presently, households enjoyed tax breaks on equity-linked savings schemes (ELSS) of mutual funds within the overall Rs 1.5 lakh limit under Section 80C of the Income Tax (I-T) Act and under 80CCD for National Pension System contributions up to Rs 50,000 a year. 
 
Meanwhile, RGESS may be tweaked as the scheme has not many takers due to complexity. 
 
Only new or first time retail investors with an annual gross income of less than Rs.12 lakh are eligible to invest in the scheme. 
 
The scheme also comes in with lock-in period of three years, with a fixed lock-in during the first year followed by a flexible lock-in for subsequent two years.
