Within 48 hours, she'd sold it all on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/sarahscottinteriors/">Facebook Marketplace</a>, a section of Facebook where users can buy and sell goods, often to and from people in their local area. So far in 2022, the 27-year-old has made an extra $37,000 on her side hustle, according to documents verified by Insider, selling furniture, art, and any other interesting "trash" she can find in her Memphis suburb. Scott works full time as a digital marketing advisor for FedEx making just under $90,000 per year. She says she spends just five hours per week on her side gig — three hours for driving and picking up items and two hours for staging, photographing, and listing items online."We are out here just working as hard as we can, because we have the time and the means and have big dreams for ourselves," Scott told Insider. And some, like Scott, have embraced reseller platforms like <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-mom-launched-poshmark-reseller-business-made-735k-income-2022-9">Poshmark</a> or Facebook Marketplace to earn extra cash or become full-time resellers. <div type="image" title="Sarah Scott 3" height="1402" width="1870" msid="95490915" hostid="261"></div><h2>How Scott organizes her time and prices items for her side hustle</h2>After her surprise initial success on Facebook Marketplace, Scott decided to dive in. "I realized, after doing it the second night just within my own town, that this was going to be very lucrative," she said. Scott devised "trash routes" that she drives three nights per week — Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday — visiting a few different neighborhoods each night.The first few months, she says she earned roughly $500 per month. But as she learned the optimal routes and which items were bestsellers, she saw her performance improve.She's noticed people are more likely to leave items on the curb during the spring and fall months, but less likely to do so during the summer and winter, perhaps because they're more likely to be traveling.Scott uses Google Image search to find the retail price for items online. She says new items typically sell in 24 to 48 hours, while used items in good condition can range from three to five days on average. If an item hasn't sold in two weeks, she donates it.Scott sells her items for roughly 70 to 80% of the retail price — "cheaper than anything else people would find online," she said. While she occasionally ships items, Scott leaves the vast majority of them on her porch for buyers to pick up and they can pay her through Venmo. By the end of 2020, Scott had earned roughly $10,000, according to her records. This rose to $18,000 in 2021, and $37,000 through the end of October. "One item at $20 is 20 more dollars than you'd have if you didn't do it."Her second piece of advice is to "experiment" with selling different items. "If you're passionate about something then lean into your strength," she said. "Video games or furniture flipping — find that thing that speaks to you, because then it'll be easier to do it."For those interested in reselling household products, she says people "go crazy over nightstands" and "anything that is wood."The three most expensive items she's ever sold are an antique rocking chair for $425, a set of silver teacups for $250, and an antique three drawer chest for $250. Her average selling price is roughly $40 to $50, however, and she says $45 has often been a "magic number" to sell an item quickly. While some resellers modify items before reselling, Scott says she's never done this. She simply gives them a basic cleaning and stages them in her home for a picture. While reselling other people's trash is still her "bread and butter," she worked with one client earlier this year who was moving and looking to clear out their home. Over an eight week period, Scott says she sold over $60,000 worth of the client's property. She charged a 30% commission, and walked away with roughly $20,000. Finally, she recommends people "get involved with the community" through <a href="https://www.instagram.com/sarahscottinteriors/">online channels</a>."One of the greatest pieces about doing this is just all the different people I've been able to help and realizing they wouldn't have had the item if it wasn't for me." Instead, it would've ended up in the trash.Moving forward, Scott says she has no plans to slow down. She loves the extra money, and she wants to continue helping create a more sustainable world with less waste. Early on, she found she had a "bigger soft spot for sustainability" than she had ever realized, and it motivated her to push forward. Nearly three years in, she's not only saved over 1,000 items from the landfill, but provided others the chance to use them in their homes. "I can't save everything," she said. She said that to build explosive strength, you need lower body power. Jumping is also a great way to increase stability, strength, and cardio, whether you use it on the basketball court or not, she said.Signore told Insider that exercises, like variations on the dumbbell squat and the plyo reverse lunge jump, help build lower body strength and explosiveness.<h2>Build lower body power with the dumbbell squat press and the dumbbell jump squat press</h2>Signore, who is the founder of fitness program, <a href="https://www.correlation.fit/about">Correlation,</a> said that having a strong, stable lower body that works in sync with your upper body is an essential part of jumping. She said the dumbbell squat press is a good starting exercise to build lower body strength, as well as explosive power through your upper body. The exercise can also be modified to be more or less difficult, she said.To perform the dumbbell squat press, stand with your legs shoulder-width apart with a soft bend in your knees, with weights in both hands resting on your shoulders. Make sure your back is straight and your core is engaged as you sink your weight into your heels, as if you're slowly sitting into a chair. Then squeeze your glutes as you come up from the squat, and use your momentum to press the weights above your head, Signore said. "Instead of just working on that downward momentum, you're working on starting to power up through, taking that energy from your toes and propelling it upwards," she said.This exercise will primarily help strengthen your glutes, quads, hamstrings, and shoulders, which she said are all involved in jumping.Signore said the dumbbell jump squat overhead press is an exercise you can slowly work up to with the squat press, and involves adding a jump as you come up from your squat and pressing overhead in midair. For a slightly less difficult version, she said you can take out the press, which will still build explosive power. If you want to first work on lower body strength, Signore said to just do a dumbbell squat without the press. Add a little more weight, and keep your arms at your sides for this one, she said.<h2>Train for agility and explosive power with the plyo reverse lunge jump </h2>The plyo reverse lunge jump is a move that Signore said will help build power, as well as agility, by quickly working multiple muscles in your lower body at the same time.She said you start the exercise by stepping back with one of your legs and dropping down so that both knees are at 90 degrees angles. Signore said to then propel off your front foot into a jump, and bring your opposite knee up before landing and dropping back into the starting position. Perform this exercise on both legs, she said.Make sure you bend your knees as you land initially, she said, and keep your weight evenly distributed between your legs to prevent injury.<h2>Engage your full body with the linear jump</h2>Signore said that instead of box jumps and tuck jumps, which don't engage the upper body the way you would in a basketball game, she recommends the linear jump. Sink all of your energy into your heel as you bring your arms behind you, and use a swinging motion to bring all of that energy up from your foot through your body, she said. She said to start small and work your way up with this exercise by jumping less than you're able to at first, and slowly work up to your max height. Signore said this will help your body warm up and prevent injury. Mark on a wall once you find your max and do 5 reps of that before finishing, she said.

"Of course it was ridiculous to think girls can't do quads,but what about their careers?" Richaud said, admitting the victory felt bittersweet, because it followed a potentially career-ending injury of a competitor.<h2>A neutral flag</h2>This Olympics comes at a contentious moment for Russian athletics. The World Anti-Doping Agency has banned Russian athletes from competing for Russia, who are included in a special <a href="https://www.isu.org/docman-documents-links/isu-files/documents-communications/clean-sport-1/anti-doping-testing-pool/25949-isu-testing-pools-2021-22/file">registered testing pool</a>, and will compete under a neutral flag for the Russian Olympic Committee, instead of the Russian national flag.The sanctions were meted out after <a href="https://www.wada-ama.org/en/resources/mclaren-independent-investigation-report-part-i">an independent investigation</a> found evidence that Russian anti-doping officials helped athletes cheat as far back as 2010. None of Tutberidze's athletes have ever had an adverse test result and they are tested more than almost any other athletes, as a consequence of their successes (winning athletes are tested more) and their association with Russia (whose athletes have been flagged due to the sanctions). <h2>'For me, girls are better'</h2>For roughly the last decade, Tutberidze's rink in Moscow has been churning out very young, very compact, virtuosic female champions. Her athletes win by performing difficult jumps such as quads – which are worth roughly double the points of a triple, making skaters who land them nearly impossible to beat – but burn out dramatically as they go through puberty."For me, girls are better," Tutberidze explained in an<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJM5-P0QzxU"> interview in 2018</a>, after her students swept a Junior Grand Prix Final podium, including a record-breaking performance by then 15 year-old Trusova with two quads. <div type="image" title="xxxx" height="3137" width="4705" msid="89354952" hostid="261"></div>Girls should learn quads young, when they are still light and agile, Tutberidze said.Prepubescent girls have the perfect strength-to-weight ratio to complete rotations without the vertical spring and power of a matured jumper, once they enter puberty and their strength-to-weight ratio changes, they begin to falter in competition pushing their bodies to extremes or suffer injury.Skaters' punishing training schedules can often have the effect of naturally suppressing their development.The type of injury Usacheva suffered results from cumulative stress to a body part, after repeating an element too many times during practice. It is often preceded by muscle fatigue or soreness, according to Dr. Jane Moran, who chairs the International <keyword id="13106410" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="skating" source="Orion">Skating</keyword> Union (ISU) Medical Commission.Dr. Moran added that Usacheva type of injury is common among skaters during puberty, when the growth-plates are still open. "Training for adolescents must be adjusted during this period of their development," Dr. Moran said.Tutberidze's athletes' prime medal-winning years coincide with this period of development. Figure skating coaches generally try to avoid training potential competitors; but Tutberidze has made it a central part of her winning strategy. "They are like a stable of thoroughbreds competing and pushing one another," says Canadian skating official Ted Barton of the extremely disciplined training environment Tutberidze has created. The depth of talent at her rink is so great, that nineteen of<a href="http://results.isu.org/isujsstat/o100wto.htm"> the top 20 highest women's scores</a> recorded by the ISU were posted by five Tutberidze students.<h2>Baptized by a bomb</h2>As a young teen, Tutberidze's own competitive career was brought to an abrupt halt by an early growth spurt that left her injured. After failing to find a coach willing to train her to jump, she switched to ice dance and signed on for a 36-city U.S. tour with the Russian Ice Ballet. When visa trouble and disappeared investors left them stranded and penniless in Oklahoma City, they found themselves in 1995 at the Oklahoma City YMCA. On April 19, 1995, when a bomb was set off at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building – just across the street from the YMCA – the entire troupe barely escaped with their lives. Tutberidze said she emerged from the building still holding her toothbrush, only to find a chaotic scene of injured people and cars on fire. Their<a href="https://memorialmuseum.com/experience/their-stories/those-who-survived/"> names are among the 600</a> inscribed in granite on the "Survivor Wall," at the Oklahoma City National Memorial.After a brief stint with the Ice Capades, Tutberidze and her skating-partner husband settled in San Antonio where they coached beginners. In search of more competitive students, Tutberidze eventually returned to Moscow with her daughter, Diana Davis. Davis has followed in her mother's footsteps, and will compete in the ice dance event in Beijing with partner Gleb Smolkin. "Russian women were always strong, but never as dominant until Eteri came along," Valeri Prudsky, one of the skaters Tutberidze was with during the 1995 bombing, said. "She made it happen for the women, she changed the world around."Prudsky is in awe of her staggering success and accolades. In 2018, President Vladimir Putin awarded Tutberidze with the<a href="http://kremlin.ru/supplement/5369/print"> Order of Honour</a> for her contributions to the sport in Russia. It's easy to forget that Tutberidze's dominance marks a<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/05/sports/olympics/in-russia-skating-booms-again.html"> significant shift</a> in the world standings: the American women's figure skating heyday of the 90's when skaters like Michelle Kwan were able to hold their own against Russian counterparts, gave way to a strong Japanese field in the 2000's. Russian women didn't win their first Olympic gold until after Tutberidze was promoted to head coach in 2013. They've been winning ever since.Prudsky, who came up in the same elite Soviet figure skating schools as Tutberidze in Moscow in the 1980s, described Tutberidze as a skater of only modest talent, but great work ethic. He says the key to Tutberidze's success is her ability to seek out students who share her hyper-competitive work ethic. "She can push them to do things they did not know they could do," Prudsky said.<h2>The original Quad Queen</h2>Surya Bonaly, who rose to fame in the 90s for performing backflips, is proud of her lesser-known achievement: in 1992, she became the first woman to attempt a quad on Olympic ice. Why Mark Zuckerberg wants everyone to read this book about the evolution of man

<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image">Photo by Getty Images / Alex Burstow / TPNDavid Haye, Dereck Chisora, and Nick Kyrgios.</div></div></div><ul class="summary-list"><li>David Haye retired from professional boxing injured and beaten in 2018 but now has a new challenge - taming one of boxing's wildest men.</li><li>Haye is managing Dereck Chisora, the sport's version of the Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios.</li><li>Chisora once tried to smooch an opponent at a weigh-in, spat water all over Wladimir Klitschko's face, and was arrested by German police for a brawl with Haye in Munich.</li><li>Somehow, the two of them have buried the hatchet and are achieving impressive wins together.</li><li>These wins, Haye told Business Insider, could push Chisora into world championship title contention.</li><li>Considering Chisora has lost almost 25% of his fights, he would become one of the most unlikely champions in boxing.</li><li><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/?hprecirc-bullet" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories</a>.</li></ul>At a 2012 post-fight press conference after Dereck Chisora <a href="https://www.boxingscene.com/forums/view.php?pg=klitschko-chisora-compubox" target="_blank" rel="noopener">had just absorbed 211 punches</a> from a bigger and taller Vitali Klitschko in a gruelling world heavyweight title fight, the Londoner stepped toward David Haye, who was in the crowd at the time, and brawled with his rival <a href="https://youtu.be/MWQs8nMsZNg?t=111" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in front of the world's media</a>.Having already been defeated by Klitschko, the wild and chaotic post-event drama was Chisora's second loss that night.Footage showed Haye elbow Chisora then punch him to the floor with a glass bottle in his hand. Chairs were thrown. Haye's trainer Adam Booth had blood streaking down his head.It was a dark day for the sport. British boxing had given itself a black eye.It would seem unlikely that Chisora would later team up with Haye, seeking his counsel regarding management and promotion, leaning on him for advice as he attempts to navigate a route back to a world title shot seven years on, aged 36.But this is a relationship that benefits both men. Chisora gets tips from an athlete who looked the part during his own world championship days, a heavyweight who would not have been out of place on the front cover of men's fitness magazines because of a ripped body seemingly chiseled from clay.Haye, too, has been given purpose in a post-fight career - a reason to get out of bed with a smile on his face. Having left professional boxing in 2018, injured, with back-to-back losses to Tony Bellew - a fighter he would arguably have beaten in his prime - he now has a project that takes up his time.Haye told Business Insider how the relationship began when we met in London earlier this week."He came to me and said, 'David, could you help me, I've seen what you've done in your career,'" he said. "'Can you assist and teach me what you've done to get the success you've had?'"I'd never in a million years think that Dereck would ask me. Us fighters have egos, but he came to me. He must have put his ego to the side."Haye's surprise was likely because of their history, one which involved that bottling in Munich. Chisora was arrested at the airport. Haye managed to leave the country. At the fight itself, Haye knocked Chisora out in style, posting a thumping fifth round victory at West Ham United's Boleyn Ground at Upton Park, London.It was this fight that put an end to any leftover hostility from 2012, according to Haye."We resolved that bottling incident in a boxing match at Upton Park," he said."We had the scuffle, a face-to-face, all in front of the press but we had a fight after and whatever beef there was, the fight just killed it. I was victorious that night. And there was a respect afterwards."I knew how tough he was. I know how tough he is. And I know what a tough character he is. I knew he was going to do something special in the game. He hasn't quite done that, yet. He's won the British title, Commonwealth title, and the European. These are big titles and impressive accolades, but they're not world titles."Haye's job is to guide Chisora - someone he said was once "an arch rival and a nemesis" - back up the rankings so he can fight for his first world title since that dark day in 2012."Dereck Chisora can capture a version of the heavyweight championship," Haye said. "It was always my goal to try to assist another fighter in fulfilling his potential, in winning the heavyweight championship. To use the knowledge that I've accumulated over the years to assist another fighter, the negotiation and politics, eating, how many hours you're sleeping, where you're training and what training you're doing."Still, even Haye admits it may seem unrealistic, as Chisora has nine losses in a 41-fight professional career. "But it's a fun challenge, gets me up in the morning, and it still feels like I'm living my dream," he said. At the Italian Open in the summer <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/nick-kyrgios-out-of-italian-open-after-throwing-chair-onto-court-2019-5?r=US&amp;IR=T" target="_blank" rel="noopener">he threw a chair onto the court, packed his bag, and walked off</a> in the middle of the match. Then, in July, he lost to Nadal after <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/nick-kyrgios-awkward-moment-with-reporter-from-pub-2019-7?r=US&amp;IR=T" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spending the night at the pub, then had an "awkward" moment</a> with a female reporter who had been there, too.There is a case to be made for Kyrgios wasting his talent, as he is by far the most gifted out of the new generation of male players aged 25 and under. He has won five matches against the top 10 ranked tennis players this year, losing thrice. He holds his own against the best in the world.Chisora's career up to the point Haye managed him appeared to be similar. He <a href="https://www.eurosport.com/boxing/chisora-gets-fresh-with-baker-at-big-fight-weigh_sto2219591/story.shtml" target="_blank" rel="noopener">instigated a pre-fight riot when he tried to smooch his opponent</a> at a weigh-in in 2010, <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/boxing/9092756/Klitschko-David-Haye-and-Dereck-Chisora-must-be-banned-for-brawl.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">he spat water over Wladimir Klitschko's face</a> before his fight against Wladimir's brother Vitali in 2012, and, of course, he brawled with Haye after that event in Munich.Earlier this month, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/dereck-chisora-plows-through-david-price-to-score-a-highlight-reel-ko-2019-10?r=US&amp;IR=T" target="_blank" rel="noopener">he said he'd "murder" his opponent David Price</a> in the ring just days after <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/patrick-day-27-has-died-from-boxing-injuries-2019-10?r=US&amp;IR=T">the death of the 27-year-old American boxer Patrick Day,</a> who died because of injuries sustained in through boxing."They're both a bit frantic at times … it's a good comparison," Haye said. "Nick has got everything he could possibly want but sometimes emotionally he lets it slip away from him, and that's exactly the same thing as Dereck."Even though Kygrios does what he needs to do behind closed doors, it's only in the tournaments that he seems to lose it a little bit. He's beat everyone there is to beat, consistently doing it, and Dereck is similar … physically he can do it, he hasn't put the work in behind the scenes in the past, but recently he has."Part of Haye's job with Chisora is to ensure the heavyweight's twilight years in the sport are as successful as they can be, and that he doesn't waste his talent. "I'm trying to gradually open his eyes to what I've done," he said.For Haye, this has meant giving Chisora a routine. This includes the amount of sleep he gets, a chef who cooks him meals which meet nutritional requirements for fighting, and World Anti-Doping Agency-approved pre-workout shakes.Haye even tweaked Chisora's routine so that he stays in the Park Plaza around the corner from the Hayemaker gym, rather than waste time on a morning commute. Haye believes Joshua will triumph, but that boxing politics will dictate that he will have to choose to honor a mandatory challenge from WBO contender Oleksandr Usyk or IBF contender Kubrat Pulev.A fight against Pulev, Haye said, would be more marketable for Joshua, so the Briton could get stripped of the WBO belt, which could then be on the line for ranked fighters like Usyk and Chisora. Haye said he is going to the WBO convention in Tokyo so he can lobby for this to happen."It's a fight Usyk's people have spoken to [Matchroom Boxing promoter] Eddie [Hearn] about," Haye said. "Dereck Chisora is willing to fight anybody and has the natural physical ability, the strength, and experience in the deep water at heavyweight which Usyk hasn't."Haye is hopeful his man will get that shot, and win. "Dereck's on-form, living the life he currently is," he said.Haye admitted he's happy he never had to fight the current version of his fighter. If he did, he said he would have been asked harder questions back at the Boleyn Ground seven years ago. Some managers have 100 fighters and I have no idea how they do it."Part of the reason Chisora consumes so much of Haye's time is because after our meeting, Haye had to attend a disciplinary hearing with the British Boxing Board of Control."Straight after this, I've got to go to the British boxing board to try and explain some of Dereck's comments about Vaseline or something, which he'll probably get fined for," he said, referring to <a href="https://twitter.com/derekwarchisora/status/1171080664382365699?lang=en">a lewd photo Chisora tweeted in September which showd him in a suggestive pose holding a jar of Vaseline.</a>Though there's been an uptick in Chisora's form and winning run, some things, it seems, do not change."Working with Dereck, there's not much time to do much else," Haye said.
