Founder <keyword id="20198157" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ritesh-Agarwal" source="keywords">Ritesh Agarwal</keyword> has invested Rs 830 crore through his Singapore-based entity Patient Capital in <keyword id="19901637" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="OYO" source="keywords">OYO</keyword>'s latest <keyword id="20080855" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="funding-round" source="keywords">funding round</keyword> -- wherein the <keyword id="21745043" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="travel-tech-platform" source="keywords">travel tech platform</keyword> raised Rs 1,457 crore, sources said. Post the equity dilution in the <keyword id="22756111" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Series-G-funding" source="keywords">Series G funding</keyword>, Agarwal's holdings will increase from 29.97 per cent earlier, to 32.57 per cent post the investment, sources told PTI. According to sources close to the transaction, "Ritesh has invested to protect his ownership dilution in OYO as well as a signal of confidence in the company's prospects. The investment is backed by Singapore-based family offices." <keyword id="20517346" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Oravel-Stays-Ltd" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Oravel Stays Ltd" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Oravel Stays Ltd">Oravel Stays Ltd</keyword>, the parent company of OYO, has raised Rs 1,457 crore from a consortium of investors in the latest funding round. The additional equity issuance was approved by 99.99 per cent shareholders in an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on August 8. The additional fundraise values the company at USD 2.4 billion, as the first Series G tranche issued to InCred in July. The investment is being made through Compulsory Convertible Cumulative Preference Shares, each priced at Rs 29, consistent with the valuation of the recent raise in Series G. The capital will be used to support OYO's growth and its global expansion plans, sources said.

Founder Ritesh Agarwal invests Rs 830 crore in OYO's latest funding round; Platform raises Rs 1,457 crore

<keyword id="163404" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Softbank">SoftBank</keyword> is going to lead the new funding round of <keyword id="6354720" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ola">Ola</keyword> and will invest around Rs 2,000 crore in the cab-hailing app-only service. 
 
Ola is expecting to raise around $500 million in the fresh funding round and wants to control dilution. 
 
"SoftBank is leading the new round and the first tranche will close in a few days,” one of the sources told ET. 
 
"There will be an external process that will be launched now and Ola will keep the round open,” ET quoted another source as saying. 
It is expected that Ola’s valuation won’t get affected. Ola, which is number one in India, was valued at about $5 billion when it closed $500 million in funding in November last year. 
 
Ola may also focus on scaling the quality of the business. 
 Meanwhile, <keyword id="1042120" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Uber">Uber</keyword> is also increasing its focus in India that has become second most important market after the US. 
 
The fresh funding will be important for Ola as Uber has stepped up efforts in India. 
 
Both the ride-hailing apps will also have to be careful about the burn rates. 
 
Uber is currently burning about $30 million in India, which will go up to $45-50 million as it ramps up expansion across cities and products.

SoftBank is going to pump Rs 2,000 crore in Ola in next funding round

Bengaluru-based telecommunication firm <keyword id="113830" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="OnMobile">OnMobile</keyword> has led a $13 million (nearly ₹95 crore) <keyword id="708591" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Funding-Round">funding round</keyword> in homegrown short-form video <keyword id="235499" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="APP">app</keyword> <keyword id="40682" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chingari">Chingari</keyword>, the companies announced on Thursday. As part of the deal, OnMobile will integrate and distribute its direct-to-consumer gaming platform, ONMO, on the Chingari app and collaborate on other mobile product integrations to serve millions of users. On the other hand, Chingari will use the funds to enhance its content portfolio, hire top talent and accelerate its growing user base. Chingari said that the investment will help it accelerate its growth from 56 million users to over 100 million users. "We couldn't have hoped for a better partner than OnMobile to help Chingari embody its vision and become a content super media app for <keyword id="6354582" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharat">Bharat</keyword>, and help engage a billion Indians," said <keyword id="337346" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sumit-Ghosh">Sumit Ghosh</keyword>, Co-Founder and CEO of Chingari. Earlier last year, Chingari had raised $1.4 million from a series of investors. Chingari allows its users to download and upload videos, chat with friends, interact with new people, share content, browse through feed, and much more. Robinhood closes $200 million Series G funding round at valuation of $11.2 billion

Online bus booking platform <keyword id="234337" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Travelyaari">Travelyaari</keyword> raised $7 million in the Series B investment round, which was led by Gujarat Venture Finance Limited (GVFL), Bennett Coleman &amp; Co. Ltd and other investors. 
 
The online portal will use the fresh funding in product development and business growth. 
 
Mantis Technologies Pvt. Ltd-owned Travelyaari provides real-time, cancellation-proof bookings with timely confirmations and assured refunds. 
 
The company had previously raised a Series A investment of $3 million.

Ltd, “The latest investment into Travelyaari is yet another reflection of the company’s superior product and deep-rooted supply chain not only in Tier 1, but also in Tier 2 and 3 cities. <ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="6355315" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="elon-musk">Elon Musk</keyword>'s <keyword id="4345587" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="neuralink">Neuralink</keyword> announced Thursday it raised $205 million in a series C <keyword id="708591" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Funding-Round">funding round</keyword>.</li><li>Neuralink said the funds will help bring its first brain-chip product to market.</li><li>The chip will let quadriplegic people control digital devices with their minds, Neuralink said.</li></ul>Elon Musk's Neuralink, the company developing microchips designed to go in people's brains, has raised <a href="https://neuralink.com/blog/series-c/">$205 million in funding</a>, it said in a blog post Thursday.Neuralink said the funding would go towards one specific application of its chip: helping quadriplegic people control digital devices with their minds. Quadriplegia is the full or partial paralysis of all four limbs.Vy Capital led the funding round, and Google's GV - formerly Google Ventures - also took part, Neuralink said.Seven venture capital firms participated, joined by five Silicon Valley executives contributing their personal wealth, Neuralink said. Among those executives was Sam Altman, founder of Y Combinator and CEO of OpenAI, which was cofounded by Altman and Musk.Neuralink is <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/neuralink-elon-musk-microchips-brains-ai-2021-2">developing a neural interface device it calls the N1 Link</a>, a microchip that sits in a human skull with wires fanning out into the <keyword id="6361813" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="brain">brain</keyword>'s cortex. Ltd, which operates.CollegeDekho. The company had raised a series A round of $2 million in 2018. CollegeDekho connects students with colleges and universities, providing information on colleges, courses, entrance exam details, admission notifications, changes in exam pattern, scholarships and all related topics, according to its website. Indian ed-tech startup CollegeDekho raises $8 million in fresh funding round

The Hyderabad-based company said it is currently in the final stage of concluding its Series A1 funding round, amounting to USD 25 million with the participation of a foreign institutional investor. Concurrently, ongoing discussions are taking place with potential investors from Dubai, Hong Kong, and Singapore for Series A2 funding, targeting an infusion of USD 15 million, it added. Across the globe, widespread quarantines and business closures aimed at curbing the pandemic's spread have left firms with a fraction of their projected revenues.GoFundMe has responded to the crisis facing entrepreneurs, creating a hub where users can find local businesses to donate to. Flair Football, a mobile app helping young soccer players track their performance and compete against friends, has so far raised close to $22,000 to keep the company alive. The firm doesn't qualify for the UK government's current loan scheme designed to help businesses deal with coronavirus, so instead encouraged its 75,000 followers to contribute via GoFundMe. "We were mid-fundraise when the crisis hit," the firm <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/flair-football-fundraiser">wrote on its campaign</a><a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/flair-football-fundraiser"> page</a>, adding that it was now hard to close traditional funding rounds. "As our service is currently free, we are running out of cash to cover our costs, and there's now a real chance we won't survive." Meanwhile in Vancouver, FrogPlum - a digital marketing and app development startup - is <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/company-require-help-to-survive">trying to raise $50,000</a> in an attempt to avoid bankruptcy. Cofounder and CEO Ivan Krstovic said the firm had been forced to fire employees and had been threatened with eviction from its office space in Vancouver. "With the COVID-19 crisis, we lost all our revenue," he wrote. "We had to lay off employees and ask others to take unpaid leave until we can stand on our feet again."Sadly, day by day, it is only getting worse." In Italy, described as the European epicenter of the virus, the tourism trade been hit especially badly. Valeria Vitrano, founder of travel and experience startup CityXcape, said the firm was going through "tough times" due to the pandemic. Since launching its own <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/italian-small-startup-needs-your-help">campaign</a> three weeks ago, CityXcape has so far raised only €785 of its €20,000 target. Founders are turning to GoFundMe to stay afloat as venture capitalists back out of funding rounds

Fashion ecommerce company <keyword id="6388367" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jabong">Jabong</keyword>, which is running in losses, has been given additional funds by <keyword id="2504271" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Global-Fashion-Group">Global Fashion Group</keyword> (<keyword id="47053" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="gfg">GFG</keyword>), so that it can stay afloat for one more year. 
 
"The board has agreed to put more than $20 million in Jabong," a person who participated in the meeting held in Luxembourg told ET. GFG was founded in 2011 by Swedish Investment <keyword id="3106793" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="AB-Kinnevik">AB Kinnevik</keyword> and German <keyword id="834871" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rocket-Internet">Rocket Internet</keyword> SE, and operates ecommerce ventures Dafiti in Latin America, Lamoda in Russia and the CIS, Namshi in the Middle East, Zalora in Southeast Asia and Australia while operating Jabong in India. 
 
It is reported that Oliver Samwer, CEO of Rocket Internet and deputy chairman at GFG, was not in favour of continuing the India venture, it was Kinnevik that insisted on staying put, leading to which the board eventually agreed to back Jabong. 
 
Jabong receives funds on a regular basis, similar to the financing structure of other multinational corporations, the company said in an email, adding that there are no pre-agreed funding commitments. 
 
"GFG has raised over $1.5 billion in capital in its history and its Board remains unanimously committed to all regions it operates in, including India. Jabong has made a number of recent senior management hires and has also recently witnessed record operating performance. These facts, which are supported by public filings on our current investment rate, are clearly evident of GFG's commitment to growing Jabong," GFG said in an email.
